HTC usb error - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I did search and did not get an answer.
smh
well i uninstalled active sync 4.5 and then reinstalled it
i unchecked the usb to pc setting
now i get this beautiful message which i think has to be my problem or one of them
"cannot install this hardware
there was a problem installing this hardware:
htc usb sync
an error occured in the installation of this device
no signature was present in the subject"
the prompt before this one said something about the htc usb not passing windows logo testing and that i should cancel installation but i can go ahead and install but it isn't recommended
im out of ideas
google to no avail
hard reset is no help
clear storage is the same thing
checking the usb to pc setting still doesn't get me through to the actual update process
i only upgraded my att 8525 once with the one on the htc site
new cpu maybe?
smh

sorry, so basically i have been trying to upgrade to mobile 6 since the unofficial official but it would always get to the last prompt and active sync would disconnect and say that the phone isn't connected which was crazy to me because i synced and everything
well after struggling i decided to wait for the official official
lo and behold it is released today and i am having the same problem
after reinstalling active sync and plugging in my device
"htc usb has not passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows xp
continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future
microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed windows logo testing"

Windows 7 sync problem

My Touch Pro 2 used to sync fine with my old PC running XP, but I seem to be having great problems getting it recognised on my new PC running Windows 7.
I've downloaded Windows Mobile Device Centre 64 bit, but when I connect the phone via USB, it isn't recognised at all and fails to install the correct driver - hence I can't sync.
Any suggestions greatfully appreciated!
I had the same problem
It seems to be 64bit windows 7 only.
Device cannot start code 10 right?
I ended up updating the BIOS on my computer and it fixed the problem. The BIOS update for my computer (core i7 870) had a fix for intel chipset and Iphone sync. Maybe it fixed for win7 64bit and titl2? I don't know if it was coincendece or from rebooting my phone with the reset button.
At any case, it is working now without an update to the phone itself.
I had the same problem, upgraded the BIOS...and still have the same problem. It will work, however, if I shut the phone radio off and start the sync from the handset. I think there is some conflict with sync from the exchange server. Standalone, it works just fine.
i have win7 x64 on my laptop. first time i plugged in my tp2 it displayed an error saying the device driver wasn't installed. then i opened action center and checked for solutions, the driver for windows mobile phone installed and the problem was solved...
I've noticed a similar issue when connecting to my laptop (Win7 x64). After connecting the phone, I get the "usb connect" sound but Device Center doesn't always start. However, I can see the phone connected in "My Computer".
Rebooting my laptop always allows Device Center to start the first time. But when I plug my phone in a second time, Device Center doesn't start.
I did notice that if I create the partnership the first time, Device Center seems to start more regularly than if I don't create the partnership...so maybe that's got something to do with it?

HTC Sync not connecting ..... (HTC Sync 2.0.28 with Vista)

Got my first android after using WM for years.
Tried everything to get HTC Sync to work but in vain.
Installed HTC Sync that came with phone on the SD card i.e., version 2.0.28.
Tried different USb ports on laptop running Vista but still no connection.

You wrote really very good fault description.
So please, have You installed HTC sync and restarted PC?
Have You changed USB connection on Desire to HTC sync?
Dos it find new hardware on PC? Does it installed correctly drivers?

Already installed three times.
No luck so far. Please help. I try this three times everyday since I got my desire. Don't know what am I doingwrong. Installed/re-installed HTC sync on Vista laptop multiple times. Each time restarted computer. Connects device, USB device detected and installed successfully. HTC Sync option selected on attaching USB to device and computer ....... after trying for 30 seconds, gets msg on the device that "unable to find HTC sync on your PC". Though it is open in front of me.
Can you mount it as a disk drive? If you can it at least proves that the usb drivers are working?
You might also want to try disabling any firewalls and virus checkers.
You also need a USB 2.0 port -How old is the laptop?

It easily mounts as a Disk Drive.
Disabled firewall/Antivirus too.
Got USB 2.0 ports. Its Sony Vaio with Vista, less than 2 years old.
Umm..............
Are you loading HTC Sync twice. It sits in the tray. To sync you do it all from the desire. Plug in USB lead, switch from charge only to HTC sync, after 20 to 30 secs it should connect then press sync now.
im having exactly the same trouble, let me know how fixing this goes!
I feel like crying. 2 weeks since I got the Desire. No progress with HTC Sync. Even downloaded the newer version 2.0.33, which supposedly metions Desire as a supported device. Tried all possibilites but phone doesn't find HTC Sync on computer. No problems in using it as a disk drive but it is just sync which doesn't work.
This is pushing me to the wall and I'm seriuosly thinking about going back to WM/ HD2.

Hi there,
what version of Windows are you running? Is it 32/64-bit?
Did you try different USB slots on your computer? Cured the connection issues for me.
Hello,
I use this
http://www.htc.com/fr/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=933&news_id=631
She works fine with my Desire with W7
Ensure your phone is setup to recognise HTC Sync:
1- From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings -> Accounts & sync.
2- On the Connect to PC screen on your phone, tap HTC Sync and then tap Done. Your phone attempts to find HTC Sync on your computer. Wait for a few seconds for the process to finish.
3- If your phone displays a message indicating that it’s unable to find HTC Sync, try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable, and then repeat step 2.
4- When the Phone Connection Wizard is displayed on your computer, click Next.
5- Enter the name you want for your phone, and then click Finish.
Check the HTC Sync icon at the bottom-right side of your computer screen. If it appears green in color, that means your phone has successfully connected with your computer and HTC Sync recognizes your phone.
If you still are unable to connect, please try the following (On a Vista 32-bit computer):
1- On your phone go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and turn USB Debugging ON.
2- Turn OFF your Desire and OPEN HTC Sync on your computer.
3- Connect USB cable to computer AND THEN to your phone.
4- Turn ON your phone again.
5- Now you should see a sync icon aside of the USB icon on your Desire's status bar. Pull the notification bar down and click on the sync icon and follow the steps in the HTC sync manager on your computer.
If still unresolved, try this:
1- Navigate to c:\program files
2- Create this directory structure underneath \HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Vista_x86\
3- Unzip the uploaded zip file to that folder http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VCAV799X
4- Plug Phone into Computer via USB
5- Under Notifications Mount as USB Drive
6- Navigate to Storage Card\HTC Sync Tool_2.0.28\HTCSync_2.0.28 an run
7- Reboot
8- Open HTC sync, plug in your phone and follow the Wizard
First time I install HTC Sync( on my PC with Vista(32bit), it can not connect the Desire. I read the help file again, then I stop anti-virus software and re-install HTC Sync, and then it works fine.
@ Mastoid. Thanks for detailed reply and your help. However, nothing worked yet. Your file at megaupload is "unavailable" and therefore I haven't been able to try the third option.
OK - I was in the same boat and thought I had got one step closer but now back at square one::
Windows 7 32bit - and a 1 week old install so as clean as it gets - on a 1 yr old usb2.0 dell. Brand new desire - likewise.
Initially installed HT Sync from web site - no luck despite all the usual shutting down of firewalls (zonealarm & Windows) / AV (avira) / multiple reboots of PC & Desire.
Uninstalled HT Sync and associated driver.
Installed the version that came on SD card.
Rebooted Desire & PC.
Plugged USB into a different port (in case).
Win reported "android phone usb device - ready to use" but still couldn't find HTC Sync.
Then I disabled Avira AV and eureka - I connected.
Renabled AV and couldn't connect again.
Disabled it and connected again - left the default "My Desire" as device name and seemed to be paired with the PC.
Rather than syncing there and then I decided to check I could replicate the connection so I unplugged the desire without syncing.
WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING with the previously successful setup I immediately plugged the desire in again and ... no connection and cannot find HTC Sync.
I have now spent another hour plugging in and unplugging rebooting enabling disabling and I simply can't get a connection again - DAMMIT.
One thing I do notice though is that regardless of the fact I have turned off the annoying "usb debugging" in settings/apps/developer (that box is thouroughly unticked) it continues to run whenever I connect via HTC sync (HDD mode is fine btw).
It was running when I connected successfully though so my first thoughts that this was responsible somehow seem unfounded.
I'm now wrestling with a new OS on my PC and my mobile and am pulling my hair out - any thoughts / suggestions (other than "HTC Sync is ropey, unstable and doesn't play well with other apps) would be a blessing.
Tnx, M1
@ Mark, I am still in that boat with a hole.... sinking. No luck with HTC Sync. Tried all suggestions/advice. Both versions 2.0.28 and newer 2.0.33. Disbaling antivirus, all processes, multiple re-boots, multiple usb ports ....... I have given up.
Currently focused on Drivers and that "usb debugging" mode that just won't turn off.

[Q] Still Can't connect to Win7 PC (driver issues?)

Hi there.
I picked up a refurbed Incredible 2 (running 2.3.4) and am trying to get it to connect to PC so I can move files across between the PC and either internal memory and/or microSD cards. I'm having no luck on Windows 7.
I changed the Default Connection Type from Charge Only to Media Sync / Disk Drive / HTC Sync (after installing the HTC Sync software - NOT the HTC Sync Manager, which apparently only supports the newer phones) to no avail. I've tried them all, and they all have the same issue. I've done this both with and without USB debugging checked, and with "Unknown Sources" ("allow installation of non-Market apps") checked. I've also tried uninstalling Sync, installing Sync Manager, trying again (no change), and then reversing it (uninstalling Manager, and reinstalling Sync) - again, no change. Sync does not see the phone while connected and in "HTC Sync" mode via the Default Connection Type (or anything else).
When I plug the phone in to the PC the PC shows a "USB Device not recognized" and sometimes I will get a "Driver did not install successfully" message. Device Manager is showing one Unknown Device with a "!" issue under the USB controllers category I'm assuming is the problem. There is also nothing showing up under the Disk Drives category in my Device Manager other than my hard disk, even though some of the guides I'm looking at say I should have something related to the phone in there.
I've tried connecting it with 2 different USB cables, just in case the one that came with it was not fully functional. I've used the second cable for data transfer in the past, so it should work. No difference.
I've restarted several times, with and without the microSD card installed. I've tried unmounting and remounting the card as well, no difference.
Am I missing some kind of Win7 drivers for the Incredible 2 that are not installed automatically and/or with the HTC Sync install? I've seen some references and links to HTC drivers that are apparently not on the HTC site, but I am very leery of downloading an .EXE from a random website and just installing it to see if it works. I'd think if this was necessary, it would be on the HTC site.
Anyone know what gives here? I can't think of anything else to try.
Am I a complete newb here, or is this potentially an issue with the refurb'ed phone?
Thank you very much for any assistance!
I use the driver linked on the revolutionary.io site (http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe) and I have never had an issue.

update
Hi there.
I attempted this, but still no change. Do you know where this installs the drivers to, so I might try to manually point the Device Manager "Unknown Device" to them?
When I try to update the driver via Device Manager, however, it is telling me the following:
"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.
windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
'Unknown Device'
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)"
Thank you for any further assistance or ideas.
Doesn't matter where you place them but you'll need to go to control panel/system/device manager find the device with the issue and select update driver.... Then it should be recognized

OP - do you have any other USB device drivers for other smartphone(s) installed on your PC? If so, uninstall all of them and reboot it clean.
Assumed that you are running VZW stock software - phone isn't rooted ?
Is your HTC Installer running this version - 3.0.0.007 - that's mine (have it running on W7 Pro and Ultimate on desktop & 2 laptop, no problems for me - I also have it running Win 8.
Uninstall HTC Installer & reboot - without connecting the phone. Turn off firewall & antivirus on your PC temporary, reconnect the phone & follow the prompts to reinstall HTC drivers. Once it's done, disconnect the phone & power down the computer.
Restart the PC and then reconnect the DI2 to it, hopefully - it will recognize the phone and allow you to connect & recognize the mSD card for data transfer, etc.
Please post any specific error messages as you see them. Good luck.
A common cause of "unrecognized USB device" is a bad cable. Try another. Or, try a different USB port on your PC.

[Q] HTC DESIRE 816 USB driver problem

Hi, My HTC Desire 816 is about 2 weeks old. I've had problems connecting the device to my personal computer (running Windows 7). I've reinstalled HTC Sync Manager several times, turned on USB Debugging, and even switched cables and ports but to no avail. When I try to update the driver, Windows faces an error saying it's unauthorized to install the driver for the device. However, the device connects perfectly to my office laptop also running Windows 7. I am able to transfer files on that system but not on my personal computer. The HTC website also has been of no help, except for asking to reinstall HTC Sync Manager. Please help. Thank You.
me too, need help
Tethering & Internet Pass Through
I have installed the latest version of HTC Sync Manager for my Desire 816 on Windows 7 and tried it on Windows XP as well.
When I connect my device for the first time after that, the drivers install automatically.
My system is recognizing the phone as a mass storage device.
But when I select the 'Internet pass through' connection type, it doesnt connect and after some time gives the error as
"Either you dont have the latest HTC drivers or ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,please get latest drivers by intalling latest HTC sync manger from the website"
I have tried to uninstall and re-install the HTC sync manager several times but had no success with Internet Pass through.
Might be the issue with the drivers, cant understand the reason.
Can anyone help me out with this.
I have also the same problem.

I am pretty sure that you guys have already tried all those, but just wanted to remind you all again as a benefit of doubt. HTC sync manager will install the required drivers usually, but in some cases due to firewall or any antivirus systems within our computer, only few files will get installed and other will get blocked. The best way to tackle this problem is to follow the below steps
1. Uninstall the HTC related drivers if installed partially previously.
2. Reboot the system - which is must
3. Then turn of your firewall or internet security or antivirus on your computer for 10 min or more
4. Connect the HTC 816 to computer using the different USB port that is not used before. (Every new USB port needs installing drivers. So hopefully this might help)
5. Install the HTC sync manager
Hopefully it should recognise. If not, try following the same steps with different USB cable.
Hit thanks if I helped you so that I will know the above steps worked for you guys too as they did work for me personally. All the best.
