'Normal' and decent Ringtones? - General Accessories

Hi All
I really LOVE my WM2005 machine BUT I get jealous when I hear the nice and decent ring tones on a new Nokia. The ones shipped out with WM just suck completely. I tried to find a simple package of good and neutral ring tones you can use even in a business environment without getting embarrassed. The only thing I can find are ring tones from the latest pop-chart-songs.
Anybody can point out a copy of the newest nokia ring tones or something decent and similar applicable for a phone used in a business environment?
Thanks guys
Tinu

tried a search like this?

not sure what a business ringtone should soundlike my dect at work play a midi from warcraft2
and my pda play "midsommer murder"

Well, I use a piano tune, which I think is business-ee enough. Get yourself some piano tune and snip it to your likings.
Anyway, I thought the default WM5/6 are well appropriate for business environment.. not impressively elegant, but business enough.

my business ring tone is ACDC back in back, but I am the boss so.....

bah! i pref bon scott over brian johnson!

Need a decent loud, simple ringtone ...

The supplied ringtones are useless. I've lost count of how many calls I have missed - I just can't hear them. To me - all the latest ringtones are nowhere as good as the old fashioned 'ring-ring' that used to be standard on most cellphones.
Anyone got a good replacement ringtone, one that is loud, simple (ring ring or similar) and easily available ?
Thanks
Mark
Something like this?
You can also edit a wav file and crank up the volume

Very nice - but I wouldn't call that simple
Whatever happened to the goodl old fashioned ring-ring ?
Mark
try this
I had the same problem, and my solution was to modify the "Old Phone" tone (taken from an SE T610) to a "double-ringtone", put it 6dB louder as original and converted it to .wma. I'm very happy now, since I use this ringtone I've the most time the volumecontrol 2 dashes down the maximum!

simple basic ringtone
I see there are a few posts with tones in files. If your looking for something to download one option is http://www.justringring.com
Hope it helps, Jon
I think the coolest thing to do is open a mp3 with audacity and chop it down a little bit then use a mp3 encoder to downsample it so its smaller, then encode it to WAV. It's so cool to hear Survivalism by Nine Inch Nails blast out of my phone when I get a call. Not simple, but the result is just AWESOME.
oldphone, oldphone2, btdoldphone, oldstyle............ Why only old style tones can be better and louder???? post some new style tones as well..

Upgraded to WM6 - now looking for WM5 tones

(posted here because I suspect this is where I will find someone else sharing my goal)
So when moving from AKU 3.3 to vanilla 6, I noticed some of the original ring tones were missing. One example is "oldphone". I know some others are missing as well, but do not recall the specific names. I extracted my SPB backup made under AKU 3.3, but for some odd reason it did not contain that specific tone. Is it hiding somewhere? I cant figure out why it wasnt part of the backup (it seems all other tones are there). Is there some way to decompile the 3.3 (or prior WM5) roms in order to extract those legacy tones?
Thanks in advance for assistance.

Can you tell me if the guitar ringtone is in WM5? I know at one time I had an electric guitar sounding ringtone..

That sounds familiar - I think it's in 5, but it is not in 6 (at least not in the original vanilla 6). Perhaps some kind soul will make the old tones available to those of us that miss them.

I kept all ringtones from WM5. Tell me where to upload to - I'll do it tomorrow.
Best regards,
I'd like to get my hands on a few old ring tones as well.
If you email me the file, I will host it on my server for everyone to access.

Much appreciated!
So I'm curious, why did 'oldphone' come with my original HTC rom, yet crossbow was missing it? I would have figured it would be the other way around... Unless the 'vanilla' 6 was so stripped down that it lacked the additional rings...?
How are you liking that Black edition, BOZ? I'm planning to switch over just as soon as I can figure out a proper way to backup / restore my call history (so I don't lose them during the switch).
Thanks again.

All the WM6 roms are cooked bare bones roms and they are put together by the developers on here, so they choose which ringtones etc are on the roms, they pick only a few on the assumption that people will have their own to add anyway, and every bit of space saved is valuable. HTC use a fixed list and apply them to every WM5 rom, so it is easy for them to appeal to the masses.
I am very pleased with this rom and it runs perfectly with no problems whatsoever after applying all fixes and patches, it is much faster than WM5. I really notice when switching between applications, TomTom 6 which I use a lot is very fast now, do not forget that I have also upgraded the radio for a much improved reception with the phone.

Thanks for posting this! I meant to copy all of the ringers off of my device before upgrading the ROM. However, after I did a backup, made sure all the documents I needed had been synchronized with my computer (so I'd have them in at least two places), and got everything else ready I never even got the feeling like I was forgetting something...not until I went to change my ringtone...
Thank again!
Thanks for the WM5 tones. I was thinking of downgrading to get a copy of the tones. You saved me couple of hours

Thank You To All Wm6 Chefs!!

Please rea this, it won't take long, just a word of appreciation
Thank you to all the chefs who cook the most amazing WM6 ROMS!!
I have been a fan of Windows Mobile for a while, but while everyone seemed to move on in terms of usability and interface design Windows Mobile seemed to get left behind and the final straw cam with the Iphone interface and interaction, It saddened me and angered me! As individuals we pay ridiculous amounts of money for software from MS and on a corporate level....well the licensing is quite lucrative! And all they seem to do is throw us a clunky slow interface. I loved windows mobile but i was slowly losing my faith and considering other options!
But! i had a load of DVD's to trade in at CEX and a few old mobiles and there was a brand new V1605 (Hermes) staring right at me with his price tag of £120 begging me to grab him. So after playing around with it i did.
Took it home that evening quite excited and began playing with it. Still slow, tried to set up MMS, GPRS, WAP etc what a task that was!
I took to the net and i stumbled accross this "cooked ROMS" thingy curiously i began researching and i thought what the hell i'll see what they are like.
Well all i can say is i am absolutely astounded at the creativity and skill of the Devs out there, Schaps, Pays you have completely reignited the Windows flame in me! my phone is now set up running like a horse in the kentucky derby, i have some fantastic programmes and customisation tools to play with, MMS works Great GPRS brilliant, the customisation is amazing!
I even did this little reg edit that allowed the MMS messages recieved to be shown as they are meant to be in full glory instead of scaled & watered down
rubbish you usually get!
right now all i need to do is get rid of the annoying beeping whenever i send an SMS and i will have my dream phone!
So to all those developers out there who work so hard cooking these ROMS you all deserve Michelin Stars for your cooking abilities, Gordon Ramsey a chef?? yeah right! lets see him try cooking a WM6 ROM like Schaps or Pays!
Thank you developers your the best!....

If you are talking about sent SMS notification, Schap's advanced config has a setting to get rid of that beeping.
There is also a reg edit of course, but advanced config is the easy route.
The Reg Edit to enable MMS hwo they should be

As for the notification in schaps rom, i thought this only disables the actual notification message appearning and not the sound. I read somewhere you need to delete a notification.wav file and replace it with a blank wav file
Yeah your right...
Yeah i hardly get calls!! i am a sad loner! hee!
But seriously i love messing with my phone, brain training shmain training this is REAL brain training! gets your mind really working!

Back in "Dash"-land. Wow!

First of all, thanks to everyone who helps makes this forum so great. I visit a lot of forums for various things, but this is one of the best!
Anyhow, I've been a Dash user since Nov 2006. Although the WM5 that was shipping at the time leaved a bit to be desired, the form factor of these phones really impressed me. In fact, I've seen a lot of newer WM phones that are still nowhere near as good as the Dash! The WM6 upgrade was a good one, but these phones really hit their stride with the WM6.1 release(s) -- found at this site, of course. I eventually even blogged my own "upgrade your Dash to WM6.1" post, which has been fairly popular. In December 2008, though, I decided to move on the G1 phone... assuming that newer was better.
Boy was I wrong.
I won't get into all of the details, but after 2 months with the G1, I was finding that many *simple* things were considerably more difficult on the G1 than on the Dash.
I decided to give the Dash a look-see again.
So, I'm back in "Dash"-land using the Rose 1.4 ROM. Wow! I am really amazed at how "out of the box" useful these new ROMs are!! Especially compared to the stock T-Mobile WM6 ROMs, which leave these phones feeling ugly and less useful. The keyboard was immediately wayyyy better than the G1, and I'm back to being able to call people with 2 or 3 clicks, rather than 6 or 7. Aside from the browser interface, I'm really not missing the G1 at all.
A few questions, though...
- My Rose 1.4 ROM has some very nice, colorful icons for the wireless signal, battery, bluetooth and so forth, but they go away when I'm on other screens. Is that typical? Anyway to have the "improved" icons show up everywhere??
- My previous WM6.1 ROM had poor radio reception, for whatever reason, and this ROM is much nicer. Is it expected that some ROMs ship with a better radio module than others?
- I've always turned the JOGGR off due to face-bumping-the-volume up and down issues, but this ROM has helped that a bit. Nice! Is there any way, though, to assign the up-and-down volume control (while in a call) to the up-and-down D-pad? Seems an obvious choice to me.
- Are there any replacements for the stock camera software on these phones? The interface drives me crazy.
- Is it possible to turn off the default "beep" sound when you place a phone call?
- I've noticed that I only hear the phone ring twice or so before it goes to voicemail, but I was used to hearing 3 or 4 rings. Any way to change that?
Ok. That's all I have for now, I guess.
Thanks!

- The improved icons are only going to show on the homescreen. The other icons are part of system dll's and have to be edited "in" before they'll show up. I don't think anybody's attempted to skin those on a smartphone yet, but *I* will try soon.
- The ROM doesn't include a radio.... it's either your wishful thinking, or... you just get better reception somehow.
- Don't know of a way to assign the dpad to change the volume. I'm sure it would require some custom programming which is.. above my head
- Don't think there's any camera shell replacements. Sorry...
- Look for a registry key called "Callstart" (in the registry! lol) and remove the associated .wav or .mid in that key
- There might be a "ringdelay" key in the registry. If you find one, set it to 5 to remove the delay. If not, try going into the Phone settings and somewhere in there in "services" you should be able set how many times it rings before it goes to voicemail. This is really an "operator setting", but you can try to change it this way.

What ?!? You're telling him to turn down the volume to get rid of the sound ?
Thanks for the reply, NRG! I really dig your 1.4 ROM. Thx!
Anyhow, I got the "radio" idea from the NRG 1.7 ROM page, as they mention a newer "radio" code. Not true?

Old WM alarm sounds

Having got my Touch Pro-2 just before a 3 week trip to Chennai I didn't have time to check all the various things with the phone...
I've since found out it doesn't have the same sounds/alarms that were in my old TyTN-II.
And I'm missing my fav. alarm sound!
I think it was called LB, or similar. Had a cool sound for waking up to, and was loud enough for me.
Anyone got access to a TyTN-II and could extract the sound for me?
I've googled, etc, and can't find it anywhere, and for the next three weeks I'm not looking forward to oversleeping due to not having a good alarm sound.
Ta in advance,
Steve
LB
Is this the one you're refering to?
Fantastic, that's the one!
Thanks a bunch
Glad to help
