Hi,
I have put Fama 3.2 to 3.4, latest pdaviet and I have fast battery drain problem. It is only with Mun_rus Indigo that I don't have this trouble? Could someone explain to me or give me a fix? (I use radio 1.41.00.11 I can't upgrade cause the latests aren't compatible with my operator (bouygues))

That's really very high!
Do you measure that with backlight level where? usually it has to be in the middle, and the wifi must be off.
With this 2 conditions usually I have ~75mA.
And check out the IR (beam) too.
Unfortunately, the default setting on most ROM is IR always open...
Make sure to uncheck this function, your battery will thank you
;-)
What i wanted to say in my first post the battery life is short with Faman and pdaviet rom and not with mun_rus. With mun_rus rom it has good battery life. So has some people had the same problem on some rom i was wondering if there was a fix or something else.

We understood that...
But as far as I know the only Fix is to change the ROM.
This is why I ask you if it's really a battery drain issue, becuase it could be due to some settings.
And with other ROM's you could listen music for a longer period?
Try reinstall the ROM or try a different one.
Don't know nothing else that can help you

I was looking around and saw that you can overclock the CPU, but can you lower the CPU under 528 mhz? the main reason for doing this would be for battery life
I'm pretty sure you can by playing with the numbers in the start up txt. Juss put in somethin like 500000 in there. That's avg to somethin like 475MHz or somethin. See if it works. BUT..lol. I don't think that will be good for Android build. Don't underclock with the sense one..lmao. the AOSP is ur best bet. Its definitely goin to be slower or more lag. I guess it depends. It gets decent battery life already without underclockin. I get good battery life with my OverClock to 787MHz. .

i have the battery fix zimage. so im getting pretty accurate readings. u can read about it on the Android project page. u replace ur zimage and modules with the ones on that page for battery fix. then whenever u update, juss dont update the zimage, or itll knock out the new fix zimage. more detailed info on the project page. if u want to be overclocked to 787MHz, then ur numbers need to show 800000 in ur startup txt for the acpu freq.
They are workin on Overclocking in windows mobile as we speak. its soo easy to do it in android. remeber follow extra instructions with overclockin. adjust ur screen timeout settings to like 30mins. so phone wont go asleep for at least 30mins or more. if phone goes to sleep w/overclock, it might not wake up. lol juss soft reset if it does. on mines, it gets the S.O.D. sparingly. after the adjustment in settings, i havent had any problems at all with my overclocking. YET...lmao

Truth to this.
For me, whenever I do a phone call or download something from the market and use the browser at the same time, the battery meter will sink into the red, and as soon as the phone is idle, the battery meter comes back up to green. It's odd, but it's better than being blind, I suppose.
As for the OP: Android's a resource hog, so I think "decreased" battery life is par for the course. I wouldn't recommend underclocking as Android will take a huge performance hit if you go too low. I don't see what the issue is though, as I've been getting iPhone-caliber battery life on my TP2 with the stock 528MHz.
Ok, thanks so much for your input guys, I ultimately just decided to buy another battery, I got it, and its on its way here! I still wont use android 100% until they can get the sound working poperly, but it is still 100x better than windows lol, my next phone is gonna be the HP android coming out for AT&T, or I might wait for the HTC

Hi,
shame on me- at first: pleace be patient with me. I dont want anyone make my work. Its just that my native language is german and I dont understand a few things. So please help me to find the correct tutorials and give me some tips.
i own an HTC Touch pro 2, bought at an O2 store in Germany, using with t-mobile and an limited dataplan (200 mb, HSDPA, 3G and stuff) S/n: HT98ELLXXXXX (Detail per private message if neccasarry)
Actual ROM Version: 1.89.207.2 (69719) GER
ROM avaible (i already have downloaded following ROMs)
_HTC Touch Pro2_RUU_Rhodium_S2_O2_DE_2.07.207.1_Radio_Rhodium_4.49.25.91_Signed_Ship downloaded from HTC.com
RUU_Rhodium_S2_HTC_Europe_2.07.401.1_Radio_Rhodium_4.49.25.91_Signed_Ship (Downloaded as written in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=571892&highlight=WP7
Now i need to download the DeepShining X10.23135 - but i dont know if com2 or com3 ?!
I dont need my phone to be in german but if possible it would be ok. i saw in the FAQ, that changing the language could cause crashes. thats ok, i guess my english would be good enough.
so here the questions in numeric order as i need them:
1: Do i need to download the com3 or the com2 version? or is that depending on what i want? What i want is a stable System, a good battery life and a good menue-control.
2: Do i need to flash the original O2 Version i downloaded first or can I just start with step 2 of the description in the DeepShining Post?
3: Following sentences i dont understand exactly: IF YOU HAVE A CDMA DEVICE THEN GO *HERE* FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO HARDSPL and *FLASH HARDSPL BEFORE FLASHING ANY CUSTOM ROMS*
What is an CDMA Device and what is HARDSPL?
If i follow the steps in deepshine thread- how dangerous would it be to flash my phone? its my only one and i need it very much. But at this time it often crashes on incoming calls and in many other situations.
Again: Please be patient. its all about my language. I just dont know what to look for using search engines or the built in search of this forum. You can help me step by step or just give me the correct posts and threads wich have already been written here. I just want to be absolutly sure, i will not kill my phone. I am an advaced PC User and i have some experiences in flashing other phones, so i know there always is an risk, but i want it as low as possible.
Thanks for your help folks.
sincerly, Alexander, Bochum Germany
CDMA is a type of network, used by some carriers in the US, and a few other countries. Germany is GSM, so no need to worry about CDMA stuff.
You MUST run HardSPL if you want to flash a custom ROM. HardSPL unlocks the SPL on your phone, which allows you to flash custom ROMs. Without running HardSPL, your phone will only allow you to flash "official" or "stock" ROMs released by your cell carrier.
Your phone is GSM, so use the HardSPL posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
As for more specific questions about the DeepShining ROMs, you should post your question on the thread for that ROM, and somebody will likely respond pretty quickly. I don't use DeepShining, so I can't help you with specific questions about that ROM, unfortunately.
Cool- thank you. Well- what do you use? any suggestions wich ROMs are useful? Most stable, good battery life, unsigned apps, daily use of internet by phone but only for services wich dont need highspeed like a messaging-program like IM+ or palringi- thats how i use my phone.
I use the Energy ROM. Its one of the most popular, and most frequently updated ROMs. It tends a bit on the eye-candy/appearance side, and has a decent number of cooked-in apps, but is still pretty fast, and I've found it to be very stable. But I've heard good things about DeepShining, and some people on here prefer it to Energy. I think DeepShining is a bit more "lightweight" and faster, but it all depends on what you are looking for in a ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562773
Coincidentally, NRG is today in the process of uploading the latest versions of his ROM. This release is the first time he is including languages other than English, and German is on top of the list. Don't think the other language versions are up yet, but they should be soon. The thread still says Sept. 8, but the new release is Sept. 13 and 14 (it usually takes him a bit to change the date and update the Change Log).
Uhm- now i am really confused. it sounds great, it looks great, but i cant find the download link of the latest version. there is so much with cookie, max sense and all these stuff.
The GUI in post #3 looks pretty good. so waht did you download? I am really so sorry for an question this dumb Its just the language barrier as i said, hehe.
another noob question now that you help me that good if i dont like it after patching, can i just install another rom of the 3 energy roms? right now i am downloading the actual 24634 of DinikGlass but i guess i will also try the cookie energy one
and do i need to install any other rom first before flashing the energy rom?

The Cookie versions include the Cookie Home Tab and CHT Editor (user made mods), which gives you great customization options for the Sense Home Tab. It does use up a good amount of program memory and may slow your phone a bit, so some people don't like it. But I really like it. The GTX and Dinik are just different themes (colors, icons, etc.) of what is basically the same ROM.
Standard Energy includes Sense, but not Cookies Home Tab. Standard Reference is close to stock, but really stripped down of apps, bloatware. Titanium is without Sense, so really stripped down and fast.
MaxSense is a user made mod that is similar to Android version of Sense. The home tab is 3 screens wide, and you can swipe side to side between the 3 screens, add widget similar to Android. I tried this for a while, and it has some cool features, but I didn't like how the taskbar in the home tab (special MaxSense taskbar) was different from everywhere else (other tabs, while apps are open, etc.).
I am using the Cookie GTX-themed version, mostly because I like the aesthetics of the GTX (white colored) theme, and I like the Cookie mod. I've mostly been using the Cookie GTX-themed version for several months now (updating to the newest release every month or 2, in general).
If you click the download link, and the latest release (Sept. 13/14) of your preferred version is not there yet, just be patient, and it will be there soon. If you want to try the German version, I assume those will be appropriately named with "German" in the file name.
Hope that helps, good luck!
i will give it a try. first i will check the cookie version of the last 23138 release sept. 13th. well... hope that works fine. if not i can change it anytime to a different rom, correct? i will let you know if i git it or not. the hard-spl alreadyx is working.
so thanks again for your help. talk to you later.
It is amazing. the installation was simple- to set up is simple too and it looks great. ok- it seems to be a little slow, but i can live with that i guess. great stuff - perfect work.

If you don't like one of the Energy ROMs, you can just flash a new one. But I always run Task29 before flashing a new ROM. Task29 wipes/formats the phones memory, to make sure that no fragments of the old ROM remain to cause bugs with the new ROM. This has been known to solve some random bugs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649191
The Energy ROM does not require flashing the stock ROM, before flashing the Energy ROM. I've flashed different versions of Energy maybe 5-6 times without flashing the stock first, with no issues. But it seems that DeepShining requires flashing the stock ROM first (or at least strongly recommends it). I think this can be ROM specific, so follow the instructions given for the ROM you are flashing.
Thanks man, pretty good help. Especially the Task29 thing becaUSE I DIDNT KNOW WHAT THIS COULD MEAN ,9 WELL- I FLASHED THE ENERGY COOKIE WITHOUT DOING THAT AND IT WORKED BUT IT SEEMS TO NEED MUCH POWER AND ITS A LIL SLOW SO I WILL REFLASH THE SAME ROM WITH FORMATTING BEFORE: WELL; ENERGY IS SO DAMNED GREAT:
ups- didnt want to shout
so, back 2 topic. the rom is really great. much good functions and tools and very nice look. i guess i would try the white one too.
thanks again. now i am fit to do it.
It takes a while for the new ROM to settle in. So the immediate performance is not a good indicator of how fast/smooth the ROM will be. Let it run for an hour or so. Also, immediately after a flash, I hard reset, just to make sure you are starting clean. Some instructions for flashing say to do this, while some others don't. But it really can't hurt anything, and it might help.
Also, the battery meter is not very accurate whenever your flash or hard reset. So the battery life you are reading is not true. You need to "re-calibrate" the battery meter by charging to 100% (let it stay on the charger for a while to make sure the battery is really full) then run it down to 0%, until it shuts off automatically. Do this at least once of twice. Then your battery meter will be calibrated to what "full" and "empty" actually mean (battery voltage).
Also, turn down your backlight. It really drains the battery when at the "automatic" setting and 100% brightness. In the "Settings" tab, do to "Sound & Display", select Backlight, uncheck "Automatically adjust backlight". Then turn down the Brightness to your preferred setting. I find 60% to be very readable, but significantly increases battery life.
There are tons of other tricks to increase battery lift and speed, so play around.

Very, very bad idea. In deed, it does recalibrate the battery, but it also reduces it's life cycles. I wouldn't recommend discharging the battery under 20%.

I've read that draining the battery may cause it to not take a charge (particularly over USB), but I haven't heard that it reduces life cycles. If you can explain a bit more, it would be appreciated.
EDIT: After poking around some, I've found a couple tidbits:
Avoid frequent full discharges because this puts additional strain on the battery.
If possible, do not discharge lithium-based batteries too deeply. Instead, recharge more often.
http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm
So probably a good idea to follow Jacko's advice. I would think that charging full, then drain to 20% is okay in order to calibrate the battery meter.
Thanks for the tip, Jacko.
Hey folks,
thanks for the tips. The most of them i already did i am not new to mobile phones and custom operating systems, just new to custom wm roms. Well, in fact this battery thing about not to discharge it totally is a pretty good tip. i alway thought contrary to that.
good to know. well, today, after i have charged it to 100% it seems to be ok. same good than before and thats ok. in fact i need a new battery one time i guess. so the result:
i will stay with this rom. first try : match! it is so great, i cant believe it. the original roms o2 deliveres are pretty old and uncomftable. well- the german are. if its the same everywhere i dont know. i love it and my english is good enough.
the only problem i didnt solve right now: the hardware keyboard have the wrong layout- its english and so the @ for example is not where it should be. i didnt find the correct section in system settings. any suggestions?
well- anyway: thanks for your help.
EDIT: One thing left beside the keyboard thing: I have an stereo bluetooth headset, it can pair and connect the handsfree connection but there is no way to connect in stereo mode. is there a setting anywhere to authorize that ? it seems i am missing something

Honestly, I think the whole finding the right radio for a particular ROM is that of trial and error. I know most chefs will suggest a particular radio that will work well with their ROMs.
I would stick with the most up to date radio, but if you get symptoms like the mic stops working (they can't hear you, but you hear them), or GPS/WiFi doesn't work, then change to another carrier friendly radio ( I don't know what works on O2 being in the US) or back to a known working stock radio.
Hope this helps.
I have wiped everything did everything you are supposed to do and im running 180MA that isn't right for a mod which nearly all are saying 3-5 is normal and 13 is high, the rom is PNK Killer Llama V2 my radio is 26.04.02.13 M2 not M2 SF, what am i doing wrong :/
Is that 180ma with screen off?.
3-5 is normal when the screen is off.
i bet you are measuring with screen turned on
Well i waited for an hour then checked again checking at half an hour and it was at 72 so i though oh thats good. then i checked at an hour bang 142 :|
I reckon it's an app because it's now at 5MA with everything turned off apart from network. im in a 2g only area btw but it's usual to get full bar signal so it's odd
Check the running apps in application settings and try stopping all that are not necesarry, do you happen to have sky news installed ?

I had the same problem with the ROM Cyanogen CM7.
Consumption of the battery far too high.
You should know that the HTC rom with sense use a proprietary driver and less greedy.
For other's rom's, hacking in the kernel.
I going on a rom with sense, Leedroid 2.3.4, I' have never eaten my battery so little.
For Rom's nosense, I wait that problems are solved

nah i mean nandroid backup, post me your current widget log, ill have a look.
Also do this: goto phone/dialer then dial in *#*#4636#*#* then check the battery history from here you should get to a menu which allows you to view certain usage, look at all the usage and tell me what is first second and third on all of them, these are possibly your problems, also which kernel you using? his latest 2.2.8? leedroid has a fantastic battery life usually so this is unusual, i doubt it's your phone
i also forgot to add in, delete your HTC SENSE account, it's useless and eats cpu for breakfast, which means drain on battery is higher, and when i say eats it i mean 100% usage sometimes, this could be your problem, it was mine :L
also what radio are you using?
install a task manager
Hi to everybody! Nice to meet you guys.
Well i'm a newbie and it's my first post so it's also my presentation for us. :highfive:
The point is that my brother has a Samsung galaxy ace II (GT-I8160). The device had the last original Samsung's firmware with android (4.1.2). So i flashed the phone with the custom rom from teamcanjica CM11 built wich is (4.4.4) stock.
The device flies compared with the stock firmware. And it's works better but i have already decalibrated the battery so i tried with the tutorial that talk about a program from the play store called battery calibration and all the steps to do it but it didn't worked. Because when i restarted the phone the percentage moves from 70% to 62% for example, and after that suddenly it shows 68%.
So in that point i don't know how to do. If someone can help me. i will apreciate very much. Thank you.
You can try Battery Calibration. It is very easy to use! Download in play store

Read please!
i said that i have already done this and it didn't worked.
What kernel are you using?
Have you checked for wakelock?
Our battery technology doesn't suffer from the memory effects thus have no need for recalibration.

I have the same issue with ace2nutzer rom+kernel.
But I had quite similar issue with stock rom. Are you sure this came with the new ROM ?
Maybe this happen when battery become old.

Okey, i informed about that, now i know what is a wakelock and i have the app called wakelock detector, but i don't know the data that shows to me means. if someone of you can guide to me i will upload a screenshot with the information to contrast the measures. :good:
I don't know how to make a screenshot.
I also have the problem of wakelocks on this ROM, and it drains battery. It seems to be a common problem on CM, and I'm not sure it has been solved on this ROM. And it's quite hard to figure it out.

Try this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884
I am using that, and using VanirKK + Chrono's kernel with 120+ apps, I could get a drain of 0-2%/hr on idle, and around 2-5%/hr on Ace's kernel.
Well gentlemen, i have solved the problem, i have flashed the phone with the last version of aze2nut ROM and his last kernel with novathor 1.6.6 and it fixes a lot of bugs, after flashing i callibrated again the battery and now is ok. The duration is about one day and a half so i'm happy for the result. :victory:
Thank you guys for helping me. :highfive:
