sx66 dead! Please Help - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hello, I am new to this site and the whole BA experience. I got my sx66 about a week ago and decided to upgrade the ROM to 1.33.51. Yes, from what I've gathered from reading it is also a little out of date, but I was trying to start out small. Well, at some point things went terribly wrong, everything seemed to be well, when all of a sudden my screen went blank and I was left with a screen that just says serial at the top and v 2.07 at the bottom. I have left the battery off for about 20 hours now, waitting on the backup battery to die(from what I understand my phone may be stuck in bootloader mode and this should fix it) Well, I just got home from work and the phone still says the same thing if I put the battery on. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated or even just a "Hey, your phones gone" would be as well, just curious to know what to do. Thanks!

My MDA Compact III - DEAD to the WORLD :(

Hi All,
I have been reading through as always trying to give the kiss of life to the recently (1month) upgraded MDA Compact III. I have upgraded it from WM5 to Touch Flu WM6. It has been working great till last night it just died on me and now I can’t even turn it on... It comes on if i leave the battery out for a 10mins and then put it back in, but it will only go far as the boot screen and as soon as it comes to the password prompt it dies
SO I can’t get in to the bootloader...
Any help will be much appreciated
Thanks all
Kind regards,
DS

Just to clarify, if you do the sequence to put it in bootloader mode, it still wont come on? What if you have it connected to the computer, still no power?
I had that same problem
Well not to be the messenger of doom but it may eventually die for good, i dunno what causes this but the same thing happened to my xda orbit recently. I had it for about 7 months the 3 weeks ago i had that problem to fix it i would leave a battery out for about an hour, also it seems the more programs u have it seems the more crashes it has, not saying hard reseting fixes it just when i installed the touch 3.01 rom and installed as few programs as possible it didn't crash for a week but, last Thursdays picked it up turned it on started listening to music then it just crashed and wouldn't even turn on at all when i plug in the charger the light didn't turn on or anything taking it to the o2 shop tomorrow.

I would think if u were to claim u may still be able to claim from the warranty if flashing it doesn't void it i sure hope not but i also insured mine so if the warranty is void i still have a life line.
i also have the same problem... i have upgraded to wm 6, first day was OK. i put my arte in my back pocket... when i took it out, it was shut down.... first i thought that it was because i sat on it... but it didnt open after that... when i plug charger it doesnt charge... however i managed to charge the battery fully... if i take the battery for a period of time.. it seems to work but crashes again, slowly going in black screen with a green vertical line in the center...
what should i do? please help me... unfortunately there's no htc shop here in turkey...

I am affraid that you lose the warranty because u flashed (updated) your orginal ROM.
Mayby damaged is only storage of ROM - memory chip
i didn't lose my warranty on mine maybe because they couldn't turn the phone on to check it out properly, i just got it back yesterday with the official o2 rom and no questions asked. b4 u take it back if u can flash the official T-Mobile rom then their shouldn't be any problem i would think.
I have same problem can someone point me in the right direction for the rom please same phone

Most probably the battery, especially if does it on all ROM's, there have been many threads about spontanious turning offf may be worth doing a search.
wow this was fast, thanks for the answers

I already made a search about this problem (I am not so newbie ) but I cannot find any problem like this.
but now you mentioned it, some times the battery has a strange behavior, some times is fully charged, a few minutes after show only 20%, if I reset the dash the battery shows 90% ..... maybe is time to a new battery pack
yah it is a problem with the dash as i experienced it as well...as soon as the new battery came it did not do that. if you check maybe your battery has swelled just a tiny bit...as that is what happened in my case even though i did not drop it in any liquid.

Not even a mention you didn't search or being a noob , i just know that there are @ least 3 i can mem about, random shutdown.
A new battery should sort it out but some members have had it current after not long getting a new battery, take a look @ first couple of pages, there ia recommended batterys in a thread.
Good luck

Battery request give you an idea as to what batterys we using
Stick a bit of card between the battery back and back of case, if the battery is malformed then it may just be a slight contact issue worth a try. "might get you by till new battery"

sometime NO GSM and sometime will detect a radio rom.

why my dopod 838pro sometime it cannot detect a radio rom and show a NO GSM, but if detect it a radio rom and it will hang about and half hours and reset will turn back to NO GSM, is hardware or software prob, anyone can give me a solution?
Provide more information - OS version and Radio version. Its probably a hardware problem but you may try to reflash to a manufacturer's shipped version and retest.
I had the same problem basically. Phone would freeze up, get repeated NO GSM messages, drop the radio even when it finds it after several minutes of use. I did buy the phone off eBay used and it did freezeup in WM5 ALOT.
I took the phone apart and cleaned all the contacts - same problems. Reflashed manufacturer's rom again and it took. Before it sometimes would hang up - looking for GSM radio. Took it apart again FULLY and put everything back together. It is now working for the past week. No freezeups or drops. Seems to always find GSM on bootup.
last time using a official rom wm6 also freeze up, then flash it to manila2d rom, it also got a same prob, try reflash a radio rom, but always get stuck at 6%, but try and try then 100% done, but also same prob.
so ur solution is try Reflashed manufacturer's rom again?
Thats what I did but the flash alone didn't fix the problem. I don't think a rom flash will bring your phone back but you may get lucky. I had to open it up and clean and reposition things. For some reason it worked. I still get screen fade to white and the directional pad on the front sometimes doesn't work - you move the scroll wheel and it will work again. Might have to replace the dPad circuit board or flex cable. The HERMES seems to have MAJOR problems with quality control and the radios. I personally think the battery presses against a backing plate which rests directly against the chipsets. The silver plate behind the battery does flex and it shouldn't. It probably should be a little thicker to prevent flexing. The heat from charging and the pressure from the battery I think causes the radios to fail. Bad soldering also may be a problem but any pressure on a motherboard and chipsets isn't a good thing. Also screws that are too tight also may contribute to the problem.
My phone has been working for about a week. Prior to that it was getting constant NO GSM errors on bootup and dropped calls. Today the phone was out of the house for the first time in weeks and it worked without any problems - no freezes (did a lot before) and no dropped radio. It has been sitting on my desk for two weeks without any problem. Will try it a few more days and see.
herm200 no GSM
Hi! I have read all thread about no GSM from here.
I have already do many many tests, tried to flash any radio rom extracted, hard reset, mtty with set 1e 1... I have already dissasemble and reassemble it
but no one fix the problem No GSM.
I have the same probleme, sometime no gsm and sometime ok.
So please, if anyone find everything which can fix this problem please post it!
Sorry for my english!
Thanks a lot for all jobs and helps.
Hello all, my hermes had this problem too!
Sometime it works, " 1.56.70.11" and sometime no! "NO GSM"
i have done about twenty flash thinking it will resolve this problem...
After reading a topic on this problem, i have understand it was an hardware problem. Something unsolde.
I have buy "double face scotch", i have disasemble the phone completely.
And on every chip and on the "battery"( little round and flat) i have put a little piece of scotch. it will do a pression on every chip to keep chip connected on the motherboard.
From this moment, the phone has never freeze, no more "no gsm" message!
ALL IS GOOD
Sorry for my poor english.
Many things can affect the radio
Try this...
Un plug your batt... insert a big piece of aluminium under the batt over the gsm chip... it wil not work properly... Magnetic issues... the batt do this things too i prove it on a Nokia... the batt without the stick = radio problem no signal...
Abd here i got the same trouble no gsm sometimes i realized that has been a lot flashes but noup, was a dialer that makes this issues 3G phone canvas,.... back to touch dialer 3G or 2G and its good now... think the CPROG and some other is not so compatible.
Desperately please help me, my Dopod 838 Pro has No GSM!
hey dude try another rom... the roms with HTC phonecanvas 2g or 3g do this issues on my hermes dunno why... thats th reason i dont cook anymore phoncanvas on my roms.
Update Radio ROM to 1.47
I had same problem just recently, and the recommendation that I got was update your Radio ROM ONLY...I upgrade to Radio 1.47 as all the time I was loosing service connection as well as No GSM...after this, my Hermes took live again.
I had 1.16 Radio...!!! and that issue came up after upgrading to one of the so many cooked ROM...I don't remember which one...
Check this link for more info, it saved my life!!!

Artemis turns off during phone call

Hi,
my Artemis turns off every now and then and I'm getting a bit pissed off by the phone. Because it happens exspecially when I'm talking to someone. The error occurred first about two weeks ago and i tried to fix wit an hard reset, but that didn't worked out. I also don't think it has anything to do with the battery, since it also turns off while being connected to the charger.
If anyone knows help, I would be grateful.
i had the same problem and the solution is ......
a new battery
My XDA Orbit is doing the same thing - randomly switching off when in use (either phone call or browsing the web). Its being doing this for over the last two to three weeks and I, too, am getting pissed off with it. My Orbit is over two years old so I'm suspecting the battery although the battery meter states everything is OK. I've just purchase a new battery on-line and, when I receive, I'll let you know if it cures the resetting issue.
Alistair
thanx, that is at least a problem with an easy solution.
@ ajmcfarlane: thx, I'll wait for your post.
Received battery on Saturday and early indications look as though it has cured the problem of the phone resetting. If anything changes, I'll keep you posted.
Cheers, Alistair
great, I'll order a battery right away
i also got same problem in my p3300 so did changing battry really solvd problms?
It will cure it.
awesome.. i think most of us have purchase this amazing handset more or less the same time..
all of our devices loosing out on batt.... no bad..
can any one please update the price of a new battery ?
i am in india now.. will be going to singapore this month end to watch the formula 1.. are there any options to buy it in singapore to save some money on it ??
how much is the new batt ??
I have over 200 of these devices in their various guises, and I can tell you that this is a very common problem. If you are lucky you only need change the battery and the device will be fine. If that does not improve matters then good luck as I am yet to find a solution when the problem is not simply the battery. At the moment my best effort is to flash the device with an upto date original ROM and change the battery. It seems to help but I can't say it fixes them as I have not monitored how the reflashed devices perform yet. I will post when I have used the reflashed devices for a few months and see how they go on

Hi radcarash,
do you have any findings? I got the same issue with one Artemis, and it seams the battery change doesn't help at all. I'm just wondering if you found already another solution to cure this world wide problem.
cheers,

Random Rebooting

Hi guys, I really need the power of the internet now. My googling powers have let me down, and now there's only you guys left to help me!!
I got a Lg g3, and i've enjoyed it for a while. I have experiemented a little with it (rooting and installing roms) and it's about 2 years old i think.
And now, the wierdest problem that I really can't understand, i'll try to explain as good as i can!
It all started a couple of days ago, my phone just rebooted as soon as I started up Snapchat. After a day, this reboot appeared more frequently, and yesterday I gave up. The thing is, as long as it's charging, it works fine, all of the programs. But when I woke up this morning, it's completely ruined.... i see the LG startup screen, and then the lock screen. As soon as i touch the screen, it restarts again!
I've tried factory reset and wiping data and stuff.... If any more information is required, i'll provide it as soon as possible!
I believe in you guys, help me out!
I thought about overheating, but since it works while charging, i ruled that out, right?

So, your phone its ok while on charging right?
Guess it's time to buy a new battery...
Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
u sure it's the battery? cause it works a bit better right now. How can i check if it's the battery that's the flaw? it's so wierd that it just got more and more random reboots....
That sounds like the battery as it was the expect problem I had 6 months ago with a battery that was about the same age as yours. I found that my battery had started to swell, very big problem with lithium batteries when they go bad. If you take your battery out and look at it side on there should be no bulging anywhere on the battery, if you see any bulging then stop using it until you can get a replacement.
At the time my phone would work fine when plugged in but would constantly reboot when on battery power.
It seems like that's not the problem, right now it's working fine. I checked the battery and no swellings at all! Could there be any other reason for my phone to act out the way it did/does sometime still?
Did the rebooting start at a particular battery level? Reason I ask is that my spare battery is now showing the same symptoms, but only when lower than 55%, phone will reboot and immediately be at 15%. I pulled the battery out and could feel slight raises along it, not enough to see but I could feel it when compared to my other battery.

Dear Taynor, Try flashing stock firmware of your device. If you suspect your device battery, then first replace it and check whether rebooting issue is still there. Otherwise, flashing stock firmware resolve many issues. Use kdz with LG Flash tool 2014. It is easy to flash firmwares with LG Flash Tool 2014.
