ok everyone my first post here and I am not very familiar with the technincal stuff so please explain the fix properly (if their is any)
I have the o2 xda orbit and I never tried to modify it (change firmware, rom etc) or upgrade to WM6. Everything is original the way that it came. I have been using the orbit for about 6 months now and I had bought it off ebay.
Just yesterday I was chargin the orbit through the usb cable and I removed it since i had to go out and i just put it in my jeans pocket and after 5 min when i took it out there was a blank white screen. I took the battery out overnight and turned it on in the morning but still the same thing happens. The images below show exactly what shows up on my screen
I dont know what to do The minute i turn it on that is the only screen i see. No windows logo nothing. I removed the sim card and memory card. But still no luck. Can i change it through warranty eventhough I live in Canada? ANy help is appreciated!! I would be glad to give more information to you if I can.
If you know of any other forums where i can get better help, please let me know.
Switch it on but hold in the voice record button when you do it, do you get a Red/Green/Blue screen?
Maybe, it saw a ghost?

nope same blank white screen with a line in the middle.
Looks like a serious hardware death there. Did you buy it off an ebay shop or private? If from a shop you may be able to make a warranty claim, if not you'd have to post it to a repair centre and cross your fingers.
I am presuming here that you have tried a Hard Reset too, ie holding down both softkeys whilst resetting, then releasing the softkeys when you get a confirmation message.
if i press the reset button nothing happens. Orbit only responds to the power button. I bought it off ebay and hence the problem. Do you think it is only a screen malfunction and if i buy a replacement screen I should be able to solve the problem? is it easy to replace the screen by myself?
I DONT KNOW IF IT'S WORK for you BUT... I work in a big shop where a lot of clients buy differents models from Htc and, 2 months ago, somebody have the same problem (with 2 lines) WITH a Tytn. We have flashing his tytn with the original rom and the problem has gone !
Have you try to make a connection with you pc ??? If activsync work...(maybe the bootloader work and ... of course, you can't see if the htc is running because you screen d'ont work for the moment)... you have nothing to loose if you try... If activsync dont work, try to put a original signed rom from htc to the root directory of your microsdcard and follow this tread from the xda-wiki section : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_SD_Card_Flashing
REALLY, I'M NOT A PROFESSIONAL BUT I REALLY THINK THIS IS MADE BY SOMETHING WRONG (FOR ANY RAISON) IN YOUR ROOT DIRECTORY AND THE SCREEN CAN'T WORK NORMALLY... oF IT'S MEABY DUE TO A BAD CONTACT BEETWEEN YOU SCREEN AND THE "MOTHERBOARD" FROM THE PDA.
I HOPE THIS CAN HELP YOU.

Could you give me step by step instructions on flashing the xda orbit rom. Out of frusturation i tried updating the orbit to WM6 and it successfuly updated according to message on my computer screen. So i have wm6 on my phone now but still the same problem.
I exctacted the file and put it in the root of my sd card and pressed the voice button and power button. Now how do i know that the ROM is being flashed? (since i just see the white screen). Even for the orbit should i just name the file on the microsd card as ARTEIMG.nbh ?
Thanks for all your help..but since i am new to this could you please explain teh process in more simpler terms?
Thanks again

Sorry to tell you dear friend but your LCD is cracked, you can see it very clearly on the first picture, bottom right hand corner.
simple way to test if true is to connect to the pc and see if its recognised.
sorry to give you some bad news.

i dont mind the bad news. So if i just buy a replacement lcd from ebay would that work? How hard is it to replace LCD? Is it something that i can do by myself? What should i be buying THIS OR THIS. You guys know of any other cheap places where i can buy lcd screen? My computer does recognise the orbit once i connect it to the computer and activesync successfuly completes the operation. So i am guessin there is something wrong with the lcd screen.
If You Put Out Your Battery More Than 30 Second, It Make The Same ?? And In The Same Place???
NOW YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOOSE... if is it the screen, you must change it...
But before, try to flash one more time your artemis with the original wm5 and, for sure, begin to make it supercid before (so you are sure you dont make a second problem !).
The client with a same problem (but not with the little trace at the right side from your screen) is happy now ! Play also a littlebit to make hardreset, softreset, usb bootloadermode ... And maybe you will see the color coming back!
I said one more time, i am not a professional for this problem but, "still trying" is never bad.... And for the screen... if you command him, you must waiting... so... try it first and if you have no more solution to try, send the pdaphone to htc... And if it's the screen, pay the replacement to htc and dont make it you self ( ebay?? are you sure 100 % the screen you buy its working???!!!??? ).
Yeah, if your computer recognises it, it'll just need a new screen.

Ok, first bit, there is a section on this forum on linking where to buy a lcd with touch screen, and there is also a guy who has done this, you can read up on it, but it will take you some time and hours removing the covers ( trying not to damage them ) and also hours of painfull cleaning, dust is the worst thing you could ever imagine,as soon as that nice lcd comes out of the package you will have dust all over it and once you have the phone back together the smallest amount of dust trapped inside will drive you crazy.
The best action for you to do would be to send it off for repair, in the end you will have your phone fully working.
the price of the replacement LCD is around 80 Euro's + sending cost.
the price you have to look into for a repair could be double.
but look into this carefully and ask yourself these questions.
1. Have you ever done this before.
2. Do you have the right tools.
3. Do you have a lot of paitience.
4. Is it worth doing it yourself and causing more damage to the phone ?
if you cannot say yes to all of these points that the solution is to send it off to repair.
hope this helps.
Regards.

i've just sent you a pm! please check
Does anyone know, where can it be send for repair to?
I have a bricked phone (even bootloader is not started).
And it was bought at eBay, so no any warranty or so.
This is XDA Orbit and I'm in Austria, where O2 has no representation.
Could you, please, advice the companies/possibilities to reapir it (chip change or direct reflashing - not via USB).
Alex

Thanks for letting me know..i though it was a pretty simple thing to do by myself. But now I definitely dont want to take that chance. I will shop around for some local cell repair shop. But since this phone is not available in canada I dont know where to go. Does anyone know of a repair shop in Toronto?
I would think the quickest turnaround would be throught HTCamerica. Its located in Houston Tx...
http://www.america.htc.com/support/service-repairs.html
thats just my two cents, turnaround time is like 5 to 7 days after receipt... if they service your phone, they do p3300, you would have to call to find out

Hi ppl,
First of all, sorry for my bad english, cause i am from mozambique nd doest speak/write well english.
Lets go to the problem: i bought i Touch Diamond (new), 1 month later the backlight doesnt work , i cannt power on the phone cause i cant see nothing...... i need some help here, plzzzzz
when the backlight works, its work very dark i see something, nd the last thing i saw was this error:
MicropERROR
Microp Version Mismatch 0
Please update latest Microp firmware
Can u help me???
Thanks
i am waiting 4 ur answers...
I am sorry but I am quite sure that the only way to fix it is to ship it to htc to have it repaired.
It's an hardware failure.
Definitely hardware related and unable to be fixed via software of ANY kind.
I dropped my Diamond about 50cm to the floor and had exactly the same problem.
Seeing as my Diamond is out of warranty (and utilising my vast background in the repair of WSOD Hermes) I decided to pull my phone apart, press firmly on the screen-to-mainboard connector, and my phone was magically better!
No gaurantees, but I haven't had a problem since...long story short...DON'T drop the Diamond...it is crazy fragile!
Oki Fellows,
but i was searching in the web nd found some sites/foruns that say that problem its because the cel was flash wit other rom version, early my cel wasnt able to charge nd i send to our celphone operator (Mozambique Celular - MCel) to repair cause it was on warranty, thei repair it but some days later i had that problem.
Surely its a Hardware Problem????
When i had that problem i send an email to HTC Support, i think 2 weeks ago, but til 2daay i hadnt the answer, i want my touch diamond back, lool,
Thanks for help me...
I wil send again to my operator to see whats happen wit the cel....

I have the dash for two weeks now (wm6.5)... about 3 days ago and out of the blue the lcd started to show this white scanlines. It was just placed next to the pc and connected by the usb cable when i noticed the problem (it wasn´t phisically damaged). I hard reseted it...nothing. Installed wm6 and wm5 and nothing.. the lines are still there. I am pretty upset with this matter
Is it the lcd or something else..?
How can i fix it and prevent this to happen again?
Does anybody know if this problem is covered by the warranty and under which arguments?
Thanks.
Here is a picture of the screen so you can get an idea...

Maybe something is loose regarding your lcd (hardware), If you haven't dropped maybe you should give a shot with your warranty and probably you will get a new dash
sure you have problem with your display.you must change,or if it is new go to store, for change.good luck, and a happy cristmanth
if you say you already did some hard reseting then it's a hardware problem.. if the warranty does not cover it then try to disarm it following the instructions that you can find in this forum.. suerte amigo!
Thanks guys for the advices. I purchased a new lcd, relaced it and now it works right, seems like the problem is solved. I hope i don´t get any more problems in the future cause the dash has everything i want in a mobile phone.

Good to know that you solved your problem
Hello everyone,
I bought a NEW TP2 in august 2009. It was a nice phone I thought then. But when I closed the keyboard the phone sometimes went off. I thought updating WM6.1 to 6.5 will solved that problem, so I waited for the upgrate, but it was no succes. I put the program Rhodium Keyboard Controller from Tarkim on the device. A great program, that's make a diffence with the iPhone.
So I decribed the problem and I sent it to HTC repair. It took 2 times to resolve the problem. But I got it back with a new motherboard (and s/n). But then the volume buttons didn't work correct anymore. So the device went back (3 times) to solve that problem. Oke it can happen, the people of the servicecenter HTC are nice and polite.
But now it is not possible to use the program from Tarkim anymore. The complete device freeze all buttons will not work anymore. I also have tried to put back several backups (Spb Backup). It is not possible anymore. So I sent it back to HTC services (2 times). Included a video and a link to Tarkims program. Both times the did NOT look at the cd (still sealed). Just reset the device and sent it back.
And now the HTC service say they do not look at 3th partsoftware, end of case. I think it is a hardware failure.
So I am out of options.
Does anybody think I can solve this problem with a custom rom.
Thanx in advance,
Richard
that sucks that you have to use htc service for repairs. Verizon just gives me a new phone in one business day if it is broken.

I've seen reports where there is a little slop with the battery in the compartment. Put in a small shim to be sure its good and tight with no slop. Some even reported better battery performance with the better contact.
You need to use Rhodium keyboard controller not Raphael keyboard controller.

You are right, but I do mean Rhodium, sorry.
But do anyone know or think, that the problem is a hardware or a software problem?
Thanx

Had the same problem recently. Probably the only solution is to replace the whole assembly (cant change the digitizer only) which cost me ~50usd from ebay. I have seen some ppl suggesting to "press" all 3 buttons at the same time for 5-10 seconds( this resets them ) tho didnt help my case.
Good luck :good:
didnt work for me

If you root warranty is VOID so if you are still covered by the warranty just return it to the shop.
