My task manager is randomly opening and closing causing my phone to lock up. Its the task manager in the upper right hand corner. At first i thought it was my screen protector, but i took that off and still the same thing. So i figured something software wise must have gotten messed up so i reflashed my phone still the same thing. Then I tried flashing with schaps older rom and still the same thing just started today anyone ever experience anything like this before??
If you would have searched, you would have discovered quite a few people have that same problem with their Hermes. It's a hardware problem with the touchscreen and there's nothing you can do about it, but send in for repair.

How will you know if he searched or not? Maybe he just used the wrong parameters or he didn´t know about the google search. Come on, it wouldn´t have been a big deal just giving him the proper answer without hanging out the big teacher.
Pronor I appreciate you sticking up for me.
As I did do a search and came up with nothing. If you know what parameters I should be searching for please link it here. Thanks

Dear,
Yesterday, suddenly, the buttons on the "front" of the phone (mail, Internet, OK, D-Pad, etc) stop working "sometimes" (50~60% percent, maybe). I thought about ROM problem but I flashed twice with other ROMs and the problem persists.
I thought also a hardware problem, but it's quite strange, because it's not one or two buttons, it's all front buttons (also, buttons on the side seems that work always).
Any idea?
Thanks
Sesaru
I experienced this also on one hermes. This problem was already decribed on this forum (do a search) and seemed caused by a connector between the board containing the button's electronic and a flat cable. Some people solved the problem by disassembling their hermes and by putting some piece of foam behind the connector. On my hermes, it was not that issue. It was in fact the board itself where humidity caused the destruction of some wiring. By pressing on the board, the hermes was again functionning for a moment and then, same problem again. This was also accompaigned by the "white screen" effect. But not always. Another symptom was a row of some pixels on the top of the screen reproducing the bottom of the same screen. Only solution: replace the board.
In my opinion, it is well a hardware problem.
Hope this helps
I have the same problem, along with the white screen of death.

I'll check. Thank you very much!!!

No, it happened suddenly. I flashed after that, thinking in a ROM problem.
Anyway, I think I could fix it. I just slide the keyboard, and (sorry for my English, I'm not sure how to do say this) 'tighten the two smalls screws" on the back of the screen (the were a bit detached). After that, it seems that it works fine
Thanks!

Glad that worked!
I had a similar issue with one of the new rom i installed and later installing some other roms(couple of times though) fixed the issue. I still do not kn ow what was the real problem
Tightening the screws will work for a little while, but you are likely to see the problems return, and eventually the WSOD errors. Exact same thing has happened to many users. I recommend reading through the threads on it. There are few solutions that involve opening the thing right up (just so your prepared if it happens, which fingers crossed it wont).

Hi
i have been getting trouble with my TP2 , since no1 reacted on my previoous post i decided to do a hard reset, i figured the "turn off" on moving back the keyboard under the screen, hoping to reset any things that might cause this. as it can just be a bad device and now i most likely need another
Or can it be a virus? i installed some cabs that were floating around on this forum and after some time i got the issue , when moving back from landscape to portrait , the device turns off instantly
what can this be?
advice needed

i supose this happens when you have keyboard open and close to go back to potrait. yep dodgy or faulty device........... i'd return it. ribbon fault i'd say mate. no virus would do that to phone. return it for a new one and tell them its a faulty ribbon. unfortunately these things do happen.
now have you installed g-sensor or flip it? if this happens with keyb closed then its something you did or installed or not set right!
i have not installed those last 2 programs
programs isntalled were
Facebook app
coreplayer
NFS underground
and some theme cabs
well tomorrow first thing il go and try to get a new one
ribbon fault your saying? what is that if I might ask?
il be sure to notify them
thanks for your quick reply

these have nothing to do with htc touch pro2 itself dude!
it's about the rom you installed in it,so pls return to your technician to get a good rom!
it's like you have super good pc,but the windows xp you installed is crap, then your pc will always get this problem and that......
FYI: rom means: OS(wm 6.5 for example)+Radio(GSM etc)+Extrom(touchflo 3d etc)
hi folks, just then i had a weird moment with my rhodium. I had just sent an sms to my friend, then i click the htc task manager up the top right of screen and i somehow found a file running, using file explorer icon, and its called "xpopupx....." i couldnt remember the rest.
I clicked on it, it didnt do anything and just disappear. Maybe im just paranoid, but what the hell was that? a spyware? a malware?
Dig through google and found nothing. This is the first time thing like this happen ever since i use winmo and the rhodium too.
Anybody got some lights in what that thing was?
*edit*
it happened again after i did a hard reset and this time i took note of what it was, and its actually called XPOPUPTOAST. No idea what it was, but it definitely happen after i sent an sms. It had the sms icon too.
Weird
Here is what i got after quick search around google:
it made an appearance on ppcgeeks forum HERE
On the Topaz thread on our beloved XDA Developer HERE
Small appearance HERE
Mentioned HERE
And at last, HERE
It seems that it occurs randomly and i have no idea how it happens or the effect of it. I'll just add it to the exclusive list and forget about it. Or just close it everytime it comes out.
Sorry for panicking in the first place
The problem is (kinda) solved.
Solution: forget about it.
bump ...
anyone?
or should i just hard reset for the sake of it?
Solved, last bump, hope this helps anyone who need it.
Hi Guys,
I am currently using a Cell Pro Rom and I find that my it keeps flipping to landscape too often when I have my phone in portrait.
I always have to give it a shake to fix itself and it does get a bit annoying.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
(I remember I may have (not certain) that I might have changed the Sensor registry when I first got it, but I am not certain, does anyone know the default measurements?)
Any ideas are welcomed.
Many thanks in advance!
Did you ask in the Cell Pro ROM thread? Seems a more logical place to ask. I tried that one out and did not have the issue you are describing. Good ROM too.
There is a G-Sensor Calibration in Settings- System.

I'm fearing the fact that I may have changed something in the registery as I got all excited the day i got the phone and went through the tweaks in the wiki.
I am not certain if I made any changes regarding the g sensor so I was wondering if anyone knows the defaults or if there is a .cab or ROM to flash to system restore.
Any clues?
Many thanks in advance
To me the g-sensor is a gimmick. I find it annoying and totally useless so I've turned mine off altogether. If I want the screen to rotate I push the keyboard out. I really don't see any use for it.
I did think the only use I had for it was the face down hands free thing but have since decided that I'd be quite happy to push a button for that. Hardly a hassle.
Hi
I have another problem with HTC Touch Pro 2 regarding turning the phone on than has been posted in the forums.
Sometimes(every second day) my touch pro 2 wont turn on using the on/off button.
I will have to do a reset(on reset button) to turn the phone back on.
Any idea what can cause this?
HTC Touch Pro 2 using original Danish ROM. Both current version and also a problem first version.
it is called the sleep of death (SOD) , and afaik it has been solved, but I don't know any more about it as I never had it my self !

Not solved. Author of thread that you pointed to denies it is a SOD fix.
There could be several reasons for the SOD.
Please check out my page about SOD's and comment if you are able to fix it!

last 2 days ive had a similar issue, wont wake with power button when it's slid open
it may be an obvious troubleshooting measure, but have you guys installed any new software recently? if so uninstall...even apps from the marketplace can cause various issues...
I have been having the same problem for several weeks. my phone has been repaired twice and I now have new phone and still getting the same problem. If I disable the data connection it seems to solve the problem but that kind of defeats the object of this type of phone. Disabling the facebook sync option seems to greatly reduce the occurance. I am on t-mobile uk and using stock roms with no additional software.
My experience has been that SOD is not actually SOD but rather just a temporary thing. Put it back in your pocket and try again in few minutes.
had this the first week of ownership, in my case went into the vodafone shop and reported the problem where they swapped the battery in my phone.problem solved.
Hi...I had this same problem with my Sprint TP2. It has now been fixed, but I had to install a custom ROM. I installed the NRG Rom and since then, I have not had the SOD. I believe that Google Maps was causing the phone to enter the sleep, however, I am not positive.
The NRG Max Manila Rom is excellent. I would just install it if I were you and everything will be fine.

Try installing LUMOS to avoid SOD
i have a couple of TP2 with the SOD problem.
I read several post recommending LUMOS, so i did a quick test and it seems that it's really solving the SOD and also giving a little more battery dimming the screen.
Give it a try and let us know your comments.
I know your post is old, but my SOD problem is new. What is LUMOS?

Way to thread necro indeed...
I assume he means this app.
I've seen what sounds like this problem on my TP2 and have found the way to revive the phone is to call it from another phone.
