First Radio ROM 1.20 can someone extract it? - P3600 ROM Development

As I heard from many users the first Radio ROM for trinity the 1.20 had a better and louder sound from the internal speaker on calls and by far better signal reception! Although it lacks the GPS functionality I would flash it to my Trinity in order to use it as a phone! Seems that the GPS functionality is sacrificing the GSM performance of the phone!
Any volunteers that can make a radio only upgrade (downgrade) with 1.20 that can be found on WiKi?

as a previous user of the 1.20 radio i can tell you sadly that the rumor isnt true, i didnt notice any decrease in reception when i switched to 1.46.30 nor in volume, and i say it sadly because i also find the trinity volume too low for my taste...

My problem is not the volume since I use an iTech Mini Clip II BT that supports 2 mobile phones connectivity and the sound is more than clear and loud but my real problem is the reception and the 3G to 2G transfer. The guy that told me about the non GPS ROM Radio talked to me about Radio versio 1.32! Have you ever heard of that version?

yes, i tried pretty much all rom and radio versions i could put my hands on trying to somehow improve the volume and reception because i live in a poor reception area and have a war injury that slightly damages my hearing...
the results im affraid are no dramatic improvement although the 1.32 does show a slight, and i do mean slight as in barely noticeable increase in reception, but you get increased battery drain compared to the 1.46
i didnt check it scientificly, but i read once a thread here by someone who tested it and came to the same conclusion...
sorry to disapoint

You could flash This ROM for RADIO 1.20.00.11 http://rapidshare.com/files/21174752/RUU_Trinity_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.5_6275_1.20.00.11_12201_Ship.exe
or for RADIO 1.33.30.10 this ROM: http://www.dopodasia.com/download/RUU_Trinity_DOPODASIA_WWE_1.23.707.5_6275_1.33.30.10_108_Ship.exe
The just flash again with a cooked ROM without RADIO. Alternatively - extract the RADIO part of either of these ROMS to flash - Get in the kitchen. At least these ROMS are available and contain non GPS Radio. Check out this page for a btter selection of different ROMS and their RADIO versions: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_Upgrades

T-Mobile UK users - which Radio ROM is good?

I'm using MDA Vario II in UK with LVSW's ROM releases. I have found out that Radio ROM is somewhat unstable - sometimes it just hangs, making Phone feature of Hermes completely unusable (I can use other apps and stuff, tough), unless I do soft reset. It happens quite randomly, for example when I try to initiate/hang-up the call, or receive SMS delivery notification, or do anything which is related with the phone. Sometimes it works perfect for few days, sometimes I can experience these hangs 2-3 times a day.
Tested Radio ROMs are 1.41 and 1.40 - both with same results. Maybe I shall revert to the original Radio ROM from T-Mobile (v1.05 AFAIR)? Any other possible solutions from other T-Mobile UK users around here? Thanks in advance.
fellow mda vario II t-mobile uk user
I'm using lvsw's + same radio. It work really well for me. not had any of the issues you described with it.
Hi
I have been on the 1.40.30.00 radio rom and had good results although last week when i was in wales my dads stock 1.05 radio with stock Tmobile (older) rom produced better internet stability on 3g than mine did.
That said im was very happy with 1.40.30.00. However i ahve today upgrade to 1.43.00.00 which has a long thread about it in the upgrades channel. (basicly i wanted to see what it was like...)
I would be happy to report back my finding in in the next few days to you.
Thanks for quick replies. One more question - are you using VoIP application? I mean, not simultaneously with GSM/3G, but do you have it enabled with some SIP account and use it occasionally?
Recommend 1.43.00.00
I higly recommend upgrading to radio 1.43.00.00. I'm on T-Mobile UK in London and have been using it since it was released a couple of weeks ago and have no compliants at all. The reception is perfect and data speeds are good.
Battery life is probably the only questionable part, but I haven't really been keeping an eye on it to be honest. No 'low battery' messages like I used to get on the original radio anyways. Currently on 60% after almost a full day of calls, push email, and general use.
I tried 1.38, 1.40, and 1.41 and had nothing but dropped calls and really bad reception, it was terrible. The only thing I've noticed with 1.43 is that after I make a call in a 3G area and look at my phone, the data connection has been killed and it only shows as G and not 3G. It goes back to normal after that though, so not an issue for me. Not sure if this is radio or ROM related tho.
Don't use any VoIP apps so can't comment on that.
Im using radio 1.43.00.00 (the current one), works fine on 3G and GSM.
The VoIP im using over Wifi (obviously Tmobile dont allow it on 3G/GSM), im using SIPGate as you can register a residential number for it aswell....works great over wifi im uni and at home. Paypal payment for call charges is also a bonus

I know SIPgate, I have a number registered (0207 Central London number in Heathrow area , and I'm using it at home with FritzBox 7050 WLAN device. On my Hermes I use IPFON.pl, which is Polish-based VoIP provider.
Anyway, looks like in your case VoIP application does not interfere with Radio ROM. Maybe I shall upgrade to 1.43 too...

Actually I haven't got any problems with dropped calls and/or bad reception, both with 1.40 and 1.41 Radio ROMs. It's just a matter of freezing Phone module from time to time, which forces me to restart whole device.
Can someone post a link to 1.43 and instructions for upgrading? Thanks in advance.

I'm using Fring which channels through to Skype and MSN, and it works a treat over 3G/HSDPA on T-mobile, and I'm on the standard W&W package... my bad?

Skype works fine on the Vario running under 3G. I've used Skype (on my Vario) to talk to a friend in Valencia and it worked fine.
And it only costs £7.50 per month for an unlimited data plan.
Bobbyelliott, I couldn't get Skype 2.2 to work, chat works fine but voice just crashes out straight away.... the Skype site states it won't work yet with Vario II... hmmm...

I had similar probs on Tmo in the Uk with 1.41 and 1.43, the radio stack would just drop my network connection and I have to turn on flight mode and turn flight mode off....
also I seam to get multiple new text messages at once. Eg two new text messages at the exact same time, almost like the phones got a heartbeat and only checks every X mins.
Im about to try 1.40
Im using black 3.5 btw

Back to the radio post...
Using 1.43 here with no problems so far. Noticed 2 changes to date from original T-Mobile radio (1.05.05.00): calls are now louder with very slight hiss at higher volume, and the radio seems to hold 3G for longer when it previously switched to a higher signal 2g connection - obviously better for data and might also save on battery power. I have not seen any higher signal strength at home but 3G is 'perhaps' more often available.
No missed or dropped calls so far and after upgradeding IPL/SPL using HardSPL (as per recs) it took me less that 7 mins total for the radio flash!
I have not tried any other radios so cannot comment on them and whether 1.43 is better; but, compared to the original I'd say 1.43 is an improvement .

Looks like problem does concern some people, and some doesn't - regardless Radio ROM version. Maybe it's dependant on the 3rd party software installed..? Hmm..
said i'd post back with my findings,
48 hours latter im very happy with this 1.43.00.00 i'll stick with it.
(I was in a very poor reception area yesturday and it seems to be on a par with the stock tmobile radio rom that my sister and father still have... i found that 1.40.30.00 was worse than the stock radio rom when i was in a poor reception area in wales.)
(as for battery, i can't say my usage pattern changes daily. so long as i can get through a day with scheduled send and recive then im happy to charge each night when i set my alarm for the morning.)
I had lots of problems with all the radio roms. the only one that seems to work pretty well is 1.38 orange. try this.

I think the secret is the best radio for each rom. I try lots of roms and i'm feeling the same. Lots of times i receive the message with lost call, with full signal. Since one week ago, no problems with radio 1.50 and rom pdabiz special.
From all, the one that worked best for me, was the 1.50....no doubt about it!
One thing: be sure that you have correctly configured the HTC Network Wizard
Radio Rom
I'm had flash de 0.79 bepe ROM and had flash de radio 1.50 , 1.46.30.11 and finaly the 1.46.00.11. This last one is the best, for batery, for gps and every comunications work very good.

Also the same for T-Mobile as well.

Lets keep this thread going for a while. I just shifted from 1.54.30.10 to 1.48.00.00. The 1.48.00.00 is a good ATT radio.
Status on Radio : 1.47.30.10
After installing this radio. I've tried it out on my ATT 8525 (with no data) so all the 3G and other data settings were removed and turned off.
The call quality is better. Sorry I dont remember what was the previous radio version that was on the phone. I guess whatever came with Schaps 4.31.
Still using Schaps 4.31. Only thing to say is.. dont know if it's OS related or Radio related is. In one call after clicking on disconnect the phone still shows .. connecting like as if I am still dialing the call.
Had to do a reset to restart the phone to operate the phone call feature again.

Usually is best to reflash the ROM after flashing radio. Also try not flashing radio too often as it can lead to a brick, if you want to flash to a big storage best to flash a stripped ROm from Veyka's 4 shared so you don't update radio.
Most ROMs if not all here don't include radio. Except one from one of the noob chef a while back.
The best radio for me by far in New Jersey and went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is 1.56.70.11. I have had this radio for quite some time now.
1.47.30.10 works best for me in LA

radio version and service reception??

Right now, I'm running NRG'z latest July 17th MaxSense ROM with radio version 4.48.25.20 and I appear to get better reception than with his previous july 10th ROM
Can the radio you flash improve/worsen your signal?
Regards
Smith
Yes, flashing a new radio can affect your reception, as well as your GPS lock time etc.
That's all I needed to know, thanks for the quick reply!
Regards
Smith
New question:
I installed the radio version in my sig, and now I get sporadic reception. Meaning, I will have full bars one moment, then no bars the next.
Any reason for this?
Sounds odd, could just be a temporary problem with the cell masts in your area. If it persists, try flashing a different radio ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549939
Yeah it's really weird. I will literally have full service, both phone and data, and then none.
How long do you think I should leave a radio flashed and experiment with it before I flash a new one?
PS: thanks for the move, wasn't sure if I was in the right section.
did u switch to radio ver 4.49.25.91? is it workin for that at&t tilt 2?
Is there a way to see what ver of stock radio i got on here before i flash? and is there a way to get it off the phone? thanks

It works better than my POS stock ROM by att.
And to check your settings and your radio version, go to settings (within Sense, not start menu) phone information, software information, radio. Bam.
Anyways, back on track, what is with the sporadic issue it's really upsetting! Perfect service, then a dropped call. WTF

Whats with the radio

I see some people quoting the FW of there radio.. Whats it for. Is it the wireless radio for BT and Wi-Fi or is it the actual radio that you listen to music off of. What effect does it have on the phone if you have another FW?
Thanks in advance guys,,
Radio handles everything wireless related like Bluetooth, GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, Wifi, GPS, etc.
All FroYo radios are interchangeable. This means, you can use the radio of your choice together with the kernel of your choice and the ROM of your choice.
Ok so does that mean that the more updated it is the quicker or more stable wifi is? or it doesnt matter what FW you have for it. Thanks

Newest doesn't always mean better..its really trial and error to see which one works best for you..not all modems work the same on every phone. For example, I use JPM modem, gives me best signal and battery life at my house..having a better signal can help battery cause its not always trying to search for a signal..but JPM might not work as good for you, JPP might give you better results ..so really just have to try a few a see what's best
