It's on the forums, search is your friend.
MS enabled SIP on WM6. They then leave it up to the ROM distributors to decide whether to put it on or not.
Personally I completely understand why dopod would not provide it on a ROM.
"Hello customers - here's a way to reduce our revenue streams - just use internet calling instead of calling with your mobile operator - it's cheaper for you and we make no money on it". isn't that obvious?

Most of them have problems - one way sound, noisy reception etc. I was hoping the official ROM would have a bug-free internal-speaker-enabled SIP client but it's not to be.

nealed, I beg to differ. Nokia is putting in SIP clients left & right into most of it's handsets. Why should we WM users paying much more for our handsets be left in the lurch?

dunno - are these Nokia handsets operator branded ones? This is a DOPOD ROM, not an HTC one (although the line is a fuzzy thin one, I know).

I'm talking about operator unbranded ones. Latest E-Series & N series have SIP clients. The local VoIP provider here - pFingo even has an OTA configuration for the Nokia E-Series handsets on their website similar to GPRS.
Whereas we can't do SIP without using other clients like SJPhone, that too with audio on the external speaker. I bought an unlocked Dopod handset and was expecting the offical ROM would have a working SIP client. It's just disappointing to see these artificial limitations put in place.

Someone in Singapore offering a upgrade for S50$. Definitely the crossbow is out to RTM and many have it. Until know don’t know any device which is equipped with Crossbow. Therefore to post it officially is a issue :0)

can you post a link or send me a link in PM , I'd like to try Xbow on universal
Cheers
I would like to try Crossbow tooo. Post the link or up the screenshot from uni, if you are not lier !
This has been said MANY times now.
People can't post links to Crossbow because the only people *supposed* to have it are OEM channel partners, and authorised developers.
The people that might have it other than these have obtained it from friends or colleagues, and do not want to get into trouble.
This was the same when WM5 came out, WM2003se, and WM2003.
If it gets posted here, the forum will get threatened with legal action, the same as when someone uploaded WM5 before it's release last year.
What we do here bends the rules, and Microsoft tollerate us because we provide support and a sense of community that the platform would miss quite badly if we were shut down.
Please don't keep forcing this people, you will get it when the time is right, just as we did with every other OS.
Some devices will get it, some won't. Just like WM5. Be patient.

Ye that would be good. I would like to discuss the bugs on this thing. Too many bugs as i see. Some of the noticed bugs.
1. WiFi can only be activated by going into start->settings or via the comm center. It cannot be activated/deactivated from the taskbar.
2. My 4GB and 8GB cards both got their MBR damaged.
3. Windows media player 10 usually hangs up or skips tracks on the SD card.
(SD card problem mostly)
These are the 3 bugs that i notice the most and ofcourse cant forget the video calling. It has MS Voice command installed on it which is a good thing. Also Smart dialing works in my crossbow ROM.

Nuclear,
Discussing features or supposed bugs for an unreleased product most likely run on an old unsupported device is akin to posting screen shots. It is advised that you avoid this on this or any board.

EDIT MDAIIIUser
As of 2.1.2007 there is no crossbow release that has got into the hands of the general public.
Crossbow has been released to some designated parts of the developers/partners community, and is currently being tested on the Universal (among others). While it seems highly unlikely that the Universal will ever see a formal Crossbow ROM, I can at least confirm that by all standards it is not ready for public use yet. It contains far too many bugs still.

I understand, but please stop me if I´m wrong, ok?
1.What is the next operating system to update to our machines? I thought it was Crossbow and quiestion no1 leads us to question no2.
2. Crossbow = WM5 SE or WM06?
Independently the future operating systems we will get soon or later, do u think the universal will be old-fashioned or not full-updated to the operating systems that are coming?

Correct. While Crossbow indeed has been made available to be tested on the Universal platform, it will not be released formally for the Universal by any of the OEMs. Economically simply not interesting enough for them.
Crossbow will not make it to the end-user before end Q1 mid Q2 '07, and by then we will more than likely have seen the introduction of the HTC Omni by then.

So, the HTC Omni will be the substitute/the brand-new Universal????
Personally, I don´t mind if Athena is the next Universal bc in my opinion is not "that better" than the Universal but I will mind if our there were no possibility to oficially-update our machines to the latest operating systems.
See u guys
P.S.: I´m texting u from the future bc I´m now in the year 2007
The HTC was, is and will still be the Universal's successor. The Athena will be a completely different model for a different audience, and will be more of a UMPC alternative.

Hi! I'm Universal (Qtek9000) user, and I have problems with receiving SMS Messages. My former ROM was a Qtek 1.30.77 original, now I use the Helmi's v 1.2 and 1.3 but I often couldn't get SMS Messages. After installing some features (e.g.: changebacklightcommand.cab) is my PDA no more able to receive the SMS. Only the HR helps in this case.
With the ROM 1.30.77 freesed sometimes the system after incoming an SMS.
So, if you can tell me some solution, i would be happy! Thankyou!

Could you give more information about the HTC Omni? Or a source, where I can search for infos?
Think the consumers in US, especially the QTEK users in US may be able to give the QTEK guys some pressure to release it. Consumer is king in US.
QTEK in US release the A2DP which till now still not "Officially Released" in any other part of the world and we are using HACK from some good guys in this forum.
Put more pressure, we may get an official release?
Anyway, official or not, M$ Software is always buggy, the whole worlds knows. Have you guys ever count how many service pack it is sent for XP? Take it or leave it, thats M$.
Plus pressure to release devices to market, the OEM & service provider part of the software can be even more buggy.
That again, we need all the good souls here to help each other out.
Anyway, they are also watching us to get their product improved.
Keep up the spirit
Happy 2007

HTC Roadmap 2007
http://www.hpc.ru/lib/arts/2258/
The HTC Omni most likely will be a little thinner and it will run wm6 (crossbow) alone those two facts would be enough arguments for me to pay the 200 € (that's probably will be what tmobile germany will charge for it in connection with a new contract) for it.

Sorry you !. Because I don't see problem with SMS Messages in any ROM version ( O2, QTEK, I'mate, Indra, Helmi, IVAN ).
Who can help him ?. Please help !.
My Universal is almost 14 months old now. Initially I did have the problem of incoming SMS causing the device to freeze. I used to get some of the SMS's but at other times the device used to freeze requiring a soft reset.
Finally what I discovered was that I had removed the Messaging icon from the Today screen. The moment I put it back everything is okay since then. Say in the last 1 year not a single SMS has caused freeizing of the device and I reveive a lot of messages during the day.
I don't know if this holds for you but if you do not have the messaging icon on the today screen try to put it back. Hope it helps.
Best Regards
Yes, thank you very much for the information, but this article is known, and on many of home pages available. Unfortunatelly those haves nothing new about the new Omni phone. Everybody is happy for the Athena, but i don't think that it's as easy to use, as the Uni.

Hi Chris,
Yes, I was informed that we will be releasing WM6 for the 838pro in about 4 weeks time. This however is test ROM code – we will need to get it tested by Mobile Operators. Testing could take upto another 4 weeks time. Dopod expects to release WM6 for 838pro in about 2 months time from now. The WM6 will have all the fixes built into the new AKU.
Thanks.

I agree completely. RIM may still be growing, but as WM6 rolls out on new devices, and Exchange 2007 grabs a foothold, savvy CIO's will be hard pressed to justify spending the extra bucks on RIM software, maintenance and "support". Hell, it took them three days to admit that they had made a change that brought down the house. Rediculous!

Web answering service
try www.grandcentral.com, you pick a US area code, put a number to forward to (your mobile) and it acts as an answering machine and call screener. Works well with numeric keypad phones, a bit tricy with the hermes because you have to launch your dial pad so you can press 1 to take the call but a cool service otherwise, free so far.
Here is one
Do a search for Pocket ETalk make sure you get the pocket version not desktop Windows version. It's free as well for non commercial use. A lot of of options bit of a learning curve but it's voip as well as a regular call center. Try GrandCentral.com not many know of this service but it's way tighter than one you will ever Pay for make sure to check it out enjoy.
