Blue Angel-hard reset without any reason - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

My PDA makes hard reset quite much nowdays. Is it possible, that it's sensitive for touch on some places? Short curcuit maybe?

Me too

I have exactly the same problem - continual hard-resetting, usually accompanied by a 'fizzing' sound and both indicator lights in top corners flashing. Any suggestions?

It just sounds munted. It could be the ROM, it could be the hardware.

TyTN II here I come
Yep - I did recover it for a couple of days this week, but the problem has now recurred.
Luckily I'm due an upgrade on T-Mobile - MDA Vario III on order!

Help!

Hi,
I need some help before I buy an XDA IIs.
I need to know the following things:
1. What is the keyboard like to type on?
2. What are the biggest and most annoying glitches?
3. Does it support a 2GB SD card?
Many Thanks,
Richard
the keyboard is naff, i used it the first day and not used it since. The letters are to small and you have to press quite hard on the letters
i have no major issues with the blue angle. please note that this is my first pda so i don’t have anything to compare it with
thnx for your reply.
I also want to know about when you receive an sms.
Does the screen come on? and is the screen 'pressable' so it clicks around the menus in your pocket? or is there some way to stop this :?:
Cheers
Rich
The BA is a nice toy if you have the cash.
On the down side is the hardware, the Keyboard is crap IMHO. It gets loose and falls down by itself.
The Sound quality is bad, Tinny, scratchy, you can up the radio do a lot of other things but it still crap.
Battery life is poor if you are on wifi for a long time.
The os has its own issues.
So the short of it all is that I love the bugger, it has past many an hour of frustration, I have turned it into a brik, dented it and now even the stylist wont stay in it place.
Would i go back to a phone just as it works? no way to many things to find out and learn about.
So is it the choice for you, that q I cant answer but if you do get a HTC device this is the site to be on.

Can't align screen? Suggestions?

I just bought a blue angel (Mda iii) off ebay.
The unit seemed ok, but after an hour of setup the screen alignment was off. Re-aligned, an went on.
Now, the unit can't be aligned. Have hard reset and it just continues to run through the alignment pattern.
I've not dropped it, or any of that type of stuff. Any Ideas? Sounds like I got a bad deal from the seller.
Thanks,
Steven Foster
Hey Steve!!!
When u hard reset it, does it not get past the screen alignment, or does it??? Because once your device is on, you can try align it through the settings menu... start>setting>system>screen>align screen... But if it does not get past alignment at start, then i think you have a bit of a problem...

get a rom from the FTP and flash it with a new rom, maybe it is software related, if this does not work then it may be the sensors on the screen, that take part in the alignment of the screen.... maybe it was dropped previously and thats why it was sold on ebay, how much did you pay for it???
I had the same problem on my second MDA3. I changed the first, than I changed the second one to a third all with warranty. I think it is a hardware bug! no change of the firmware is solving the problem, I tested that so much.
Steve,
best bet is to bring your device to the nearest service point. I've had the same experience with my xdaIIs, and ended up returning 5 of them for the screen problem. The dealer explained it was faulty screen from manufacturers, and they found 1 batch of shipment (10 units) with the same problem.. Good luck
My and my other 2 mates bougt XdaIIs's. And my Xda and 1 of my friend's experience the problem. Well... that makes it 2 out of 3 XdaIIs's with screen alignment problem.
Fortunately when we brought our Xda's to the service centre down here, they said, this is a known problem with XdaIIs. They've been getting many complaints the same as ours.
But, no worries whatsoever. They quickly replace the whole screen. And it took only 3 working days.
Now that's what i call customer service!

Power Button broke off? What can I do?

Hi guys,
I am in serious trouble with my BlueAngel. It seems to me that the power button has broken off from the case (or from the mainboard?). The button itself is still in place, but there is no "resistance" upon pressing it and thus no reaction from the phone either. It feels like you are pressing on a sponge.
Does any of you have pictures how this thing looks from the inside? Has any of you solved such a problem?
Thank you!!
Ulrich
Probably just come away from the board but in case you need a new one:

Easy enough to repair if you are OK with a soldering iron. Check the wiki for dissassembly procedure.

if you are not comfortable doing board level soldering work I would suggest buying another working BA with a cracked screen for fairly cheap and swap the mainboards..

Not a great idea unless the vendor of the broken BA has opened the unit to identify which board is inside. If the o.p buys just any old broken BA it's 50/50 it will have a board compatible with his screen fitted in it and may well be just as useless.
Richard
ah yes.. I completely forgot about that.. have run into problems in the past myself with incompatible boards and screens. There is a list in the wiki showing the board IDs so he could look there to be sure or buy the same brand "ie. XDA IIs, SX66, 9090, ect" As far as I know no vendor crossed boards in their own models so this would be relatively safe assumption if he got another of the same make..

From experience o2 and orange have used both boards. The wiki isn't a complete resource as it is not official.
Richard
Just live without it then. I have been surviving in the past few months!!
Chose no button locks, and then installed DinarHands Button for powering off the machine.
The only prob is when sometimes you want to soft reset your machine, it might turned out to be a hard reset.
SPB pocket plus will give you both a shutdown and a soft reset icon you can use to perform these tasks....

TyTN Bricked.....White Screen

Before I start getting flamed.....I have been researching the methods to solve this bricking for the last 3 days and NOTHING has worked.
I have tried HARD resetting (2 soft keys and reset) tried flashing with bootloader version 1.04....NOTHING.
I cannot understand what to do next. Nothing is working, the WMBLACK screen is coming up and then the white screen!!!!
I have followed several instructions and I must be doing something wrong!!!
Is there anything else I can try?
Thanks
NJV
Have you gone here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unbrick
Yes....this is the first place I looked....I have followed everything....still nothing.
Hmmm... doesn't sound to me like a brick in the true sense. Do you have Hard-SPL installed? If so I'd check for bad blocks. If not, I'd flash Hard-SPL, then check.
See bootloader section of the Wiki and the Hard-SPL thread (mtty, 'info 8' and 'task 2a' in particular).
EDIT: Oh yeah, I think a bad battery can cause weird behavior like that, too. Gotta spare you can try?
I've tried loading hard SPL and it keeps telling me it can't communicate with the unit.
I will go back and try what you have mentioned again.
I unfortunately don't have another battery.
Thanks I will report back....your help is appreciated.
You have to 'force SSPL' on the Hard-SPL install...
Hey mate, remi from australia here. I have a Dopod 838 pro which is the same as your device and I had the same problem a couple of months ago when Black released version 3.5 of WM6. I searched long and hard on the internet for solutions to this problem, some ppl thought it was a heat related issue which I thought could be correct because when I had the problem, if I left the device off for a couple of hours then turned it on again and did a hard reset it would work for about 10 mins... however yea 10 mins and the same issue again, other people thought it was a short circuit in the device and others managed to get rid of the white screen by applying presure to the chassis above the right soft key, above the "ok" button..... but none of these worked for me, when I was getting the problem the keys would malfunction and stop worling then the screen would go white and it would be stuffed again. after a while it was permanent and no hard resets helped anymore. I went to my dealer and they organised a new handset to be sent out to me within a couple of days. when it arrived I compared mine to the new one and one thing I noticed was that the LCD on my bricked device was a very clear white constantly, when it was off, like it had burnt out completely and the new dopod had a dark black LCD with no visible boarders, clearly showing the lcd was stuffed. so if the bricked device has a screen which has a clear white boarder on the lcd like a white picture in a blck frame its really stuffed. but yea the only way u can fix it is by sending it off to your dealer for repair or try and get a replacement out of them!
regards
remi
I had the same issue. Turned out the video chip had come loose from the board and a couple of necessary connections weren't happening. I had to send mine in for repair.
I was out of warranty and sent mine to PPCtechs. They sent it back as good as new with a shiny screen protector.

NOTE II Screen Fault

Has anybody else had any problem with the screen faults on their Note II?
I'm now on my THIRD one, the first 2 developed a very fine grey line going across the screen (left to right in portrait mode, top to bottom in landscape) within hours of being powered up!
both from totally different suppliers and with different build dates, surly I cant be the only unlucky one to have 2 do this?
Any technical boffin who could give a reason for it, could it be something I'm doing wrong? PC sending some too much power when charging, being squashed in my pocket etc etc?
Both where untouched/unrooted etc, Ive attached a picture, looks worse in real and very annoying in movies, or playing fast scrolling games etc.
Im just panicking that its going to happen to my third one now!!
Sorry bro only you afaik.
I dont have it and also no one had reported it before
Yep, this is happening to my Note II as well. I can confirm there is a line that looks exactly like yours.
However, it went away after a while, and then it appears again. This has happened twice already and it's at the exact location.
So I am not sure if that is good news or bad news. I have this unit for less than 2 weeks.
Honestly, looks like a bad TAB connector (the method using to attach the row/column of pixels to the circuit board that tells them what color to be). This usually happens due to years of repeated heating and cooling coupled with physical stress. On a new phone? that is defective.... I wonder if we have more than one screen manu, and one of them is making bad screens.
That's terribly unlucky!
I just checked my GN2, no screen faults at all thankfully!!
I had it on my first note2, exactly what you have there ! And I got it replaced. Now second note 2 and I have not this issue
