I managed to get Blackberry Connect 4.0 running fine on my Trinity running LVSW_Trinity_WM6_v2.0.1.1 (2007-05-27) .
In short, I had to install 2.1, make sure it runs fine with my BES, then hard reset and install 4.0, again provision my BES account to the device and voila. No disconnects or anything.

Yes, it should work for all ROM versions (I don't see why not)
And, the link is actually English version (the Vodafone site is German, but the downloads are actually English)

Yes the BIS works fine for me via my carrier Rogers.
BES works for me too...
I only have issues with wireless calendar sinhronization...
Contacts, tasks, and memo is sinchronizig without a problem, but calendar is not sinchronizing
Any idea why not....It worked normaly on BB Connect 2...
That is really strange. I tried it the same way, but my BBC disconnects after a sec. Any idea?

The BBC client from there is working on the official WM6 Dopod roms, without any of the BBC 2-4 installing as described here. Not sure tho if it will work with LVSW, umun's....

This new BB connect 4_1.0.0.90 it works on my P3600.
Now I can connect to BB and communicate with BES server from my company.

Yes, is 4.0.0.90, but also upgrade the transport for 4.0.0.86.
This was the only version that's work with me.
Why you don't try to upgrade the ROM for WM6?

I have skype on my cingular 8525 and the signal is not clear. I can hear echos and distortions, especially when I call outside the U.S.
I checked the "echo cancellation ON" option on skype, but it's still the same.
I've heard that there's a better skype program for this phone. I'm actually running the latest version given by cingular and WM5 (for now)
Any suggestions?

Go to SKYPE's site and download it. I use that one and make a lot f INternational calls through it. Skype via WiFi is always better than via GPRS/UMTS/3G.
They've just released a new version of Skype (2.2.0.36 I think) so give that a try.
Skype does not mention model # 8525...for Cingular/at&t...

The new version does work on the Hermes with voice calls!!! No support Only written messages unfortunately... Need to use the previous beta build Version 2.2.0.20. If you can't find it then I can give you the cab...

After upgrading from Skype WM 2.1 to 2.2, I managed to sign-in but noticed my skype-out account was not recognized (no credits were shown) nor did I succeed to make the echo call. Skype just crashed! When I followed the link to activate my skype-out, I got a "page not found" message!. Since I knew I had credits available, I then tried to call using the dial and it crashed as well! This is serious as I had install an old version 2.0.0.39 because my previous version 2.1 was overwritten by the new executable that I downloaded!

My device is CINGULAR 8525, I updated the system to WM 6.1, kernel version is 5.2.19174. SKYPE 2.1/2.2 is unable to run under WM 6.1 right now, I installed SKYPE successfully, either CAB or EXE file. But after I tap the icon on TODAY screen, it jumps out.
SKYPE was running well under WM 5.0 and / or 6.0.
Who has experience to run it under WM6.1?

Sorry if I'm not much help, but it does work for me (under 3g Skype or any other program has never worked under WIFI for me)

Maybe the problem is the kernel 19174.
And I could not run skype on some of kernel 19199.
Wondering pay more attention to WM6...

Yes, probably I should be back to WM6.0, if it is a problem for WM6.1.
As I said, on Shadow 2.1 TE - WM 6.1 (build 19199) works Skype without problem and I have no problem also on other WM6.1 ROMs! If You have Hermes, use version, I have mentioned in my first post here, because other versions are NOT working on this type of device (it is caused by device, not OS).

Processor is the problem. Hermes processor is build on arm9 architecture and Skype does not support it anynore (only messaging works). In other words you need a device with arm11 processor or the earlier version of Skype which supported arm9.

The last version of Skype that supported arm9 processors was Skype 2.2Beta version

I can confirm that I have tried the current windows mobile version of Skype, available here, and it works well over WiFi with the two latest WM6.1 roms by Dvha79_ddt. The older betas I had been using did not work.

I'm running the latest version of Skype (v. 2.2.0.37) on PDAviet WM6.1 (build 19900). It runs pretty fast. Faster than on any ROMs I have tried. Before I cannot use it as PPC to PC call but now its just like pc to pc call, with the absent of video though. I used it over WiFi.

works for me now also (build 19199).
I read somewhere on the net a while ago that Skype personel was working to get Skype work with arm9 architecture again, apparently they did it.

hey everyone i recently purchased a cingular 8525 with wm5 and decided that it would be a good idea to upgrade to wm6 (don't know exactly why but i did it) anywho... after i did so i found out that the wifi does not work anymore and i'm new at this so i have no idea what could possibly be the prob. Before i upgraded the os, wifi worked like a charm didn't really have to configure it or anything just detect settings and available wireless signals etc and that was it. pleeeez ppl who ever knows what i'm talking about please pretty please help cuz this is annoying me

Which ROM did you upgrade to, also, did you flash HardSPL before that? which Radio ROM are you running, and does the WIFI actually turn on when you use the comm manager?
I upgraded to the WM6 Cingular USA version, I did not flash HardSPL before that. I assume that unless the upgrade from wm6 changed the Radio ROM I am running, I’m still running the same one that comes with the version of wm5 that came with the phone when I bought it (btw what is a radio rom? Sry for my ignorance) And yes the WIFI actually turns on when I use the comm manager in fact it all seems to work fine but I just cant access the internet with it, even though it detects a signal. It stopped working the moment I upgraded to wm6
After flashing roms I had the same problem..make sure under the tab network adapters the line that says My network cards connects to..is set on internet..most roms start out with it on work..that change always works for me
So i deceided to downgrade the rom from wm6 to wm5 and yes apparently it has something to do with the rom version because my wifi connection works again!! with the old version which is wm5, but the moment I upgraded again to v6 it stopped working and like I said everything in the settings seems to be working fine, there’s just no internet, I should just be happy with the old version of windows mobile but version 6 has some features that I really liked does somebody know why this is happening? and if yes is there a solution? It might b more obvious than I think but I really don’t know so I really appreciate those who post help and advise thank you!
Put it back to WM 6.0..we will figure out what is wrong. There are alot of really good people on this forum and the answer to your problem is here. WM 6 is so much better.

So i installed another version of wm6 this one seems to be for Dopod but at least the internet works!!, the one i previously installed was an official version of wm6 for cingular which like i said before, for some strange reason i was not able to use the internet with wifi my only concern with having this Dopod version is that... well... its for the Dopod and does not come with the features that cingular offers to AT&T/ cingular users like myself. But then again it seems like everything else works just fine I just wonder why the cingular version doesn't work?
Sounds like your a little new to this. Here one of the golden rules:check out the hermes wiki and learn alittle about the flashing process and the different roms and their settings. There are alot of good roms out there that set up for ATT users, like K's Rom ,which is what I've been using for months. Works fine right after flashing. It has the right amount of programs and tweaks. Do alittle research and it will be worth it. It may take a couple different roms to find what you are looking for. Make sure you HardSpl your phone(the guide of flashing is in the wiki) Good Luck

Had same problem with WIFI using (RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe) ROM. Had to disable the Cingular proxy. Select: START-PROGRAMS-PROXY MANAGER-DISABLE PROXY. After that, was able to connect to the internet with WIFI.

Which version of Skype are you trying?
If I recall correctly, they broke Skype for the Hermes when they 'improved' it, and only one of the old beta versions would work.
Maybe you want to give Fring a try? Its much more lightwight than the Skype app.
