CE Star on WM 6

dear all,
i upgraded my dopod 838pro (HK hermes), i got an english rom, which i'm happy with.
i installed CE star as a chinese & japanese support for my mail & web support, but i noticed after installing it, my push mail & windows live can't sync & connect.
my PIE is working flawlessly, i can read chinese & japanese.
anyone has any solution to over come push mail & live messenger?

I have CE-start embedded into the cooked rom myself...haven't try the push email yet...due to a company email server upgrade..will let you know if there's issues.

thx trashcan, btw i'm using the version "2.8 r3" of CE star

I just tried with the same setting and confirmed that I have the same problem. One kluge way to work around it is to install Monster Chinese 5.3 Core (without SIP) as the Engine and then install PenPower as the Chinese/Japanese Input. Seem to work so far.

installed monster chinese 5.3, one thing for others to notice, u need to set the region to US after installing, or u'll get an error like CE star

well....is there any method that can eliminate the tray icon of CEstar??

im using htc x01ht with ce-star 2.8 r3a and i don't have problem sync with live or mail2web exchange server, the only problem is i can't sync with my active sync with my vista, haha(can sync via bluetooth but not usb)

any short tutorial on how to cook a rom with ce-star built in? (i am using schaps, so the best thing possible is to cook wince.nls and sunglobe.ttf (well in fact other files as well) into the rom. any idea where to start?

Hi, I had upgraded to WM6 for my D810. I currently installed the blackberry connect Ver2.1 for D810, its working fine and well. Able to receive email and sending them.

I install the version without SSPL and Radio and don't work.

Apparently, you seem to be the only person in the world who can use Blackberry after WM6 upgrade on D810. Please can you reconfirm the details of your ROM and BB version for further investigation? We have confirmation from HTC that Blackberry Connect is not supported on WM6 and been advised to downgrade to WM5. Does anyone know if the downgrade can be done (HTC website clearly say that you cannot downgrade once the upgrade has been done)? We are waiting for the unknown solution and time frame to fix this from HTC/Blackberry.
If any guru come across this message and think that you can help fix the incompatibility issue and make Blackberry Connect to work on WM6 D810, you will be saluted by the Blackberry users on D810 across the world!

I checked with my provider about BB v.2.1 on Dopod D810. Per my provider, there is some issue between BB v.2.1 and Windows Mobile 6 and we will have to wait for Dopod to release the update for BB client.
I don't know how that guy can make it work, but i did HARD RESET on my Dopod over and over but i still cannot make it work.

Has somebody downloaded this version from dopod?

I have a Dopod version of Wm5, but I like Wm6. The moment wait.

Just saw your old post. It seems you successfully tried both V.2 and V.4 of BBC with WM6?

I downloaded BB version 4.0 for Dopod 838 from HTC Asia site today and installed it on my D810. This version is for WM6 and it works!!!! My BB service is up and running again. The program is not for D810, but it is work - there are more stuffs that you do not need on version 4,0 for your D810, but so far everything is working fine.
By the way, the installation file for verison 4.0 is 10MB!!!!

Currently my ROM is 3.00.707.17 the official ROM from HTC. I installed the BB 4 which is for WM6 Professional for 838pro. It seem suitable to be use on any WM6 professional device.

Are you using 2G or 3G SIM card? I hade heaps of problems with BB Connect after upgrading to 3G.

Very interesting,
would you mind providing a share to this installer. Even with a right SN, registring to dopod web site is impossible.
What is the bb connect version working on your device?
I've installed 4.0.0.67 with no luck, it's only connecting to my company BES when trinity is usb plugged on a corporate laptop. Else the connection failling each time, within first 5 seconds.

I cannot download from HTC. It recognizes my user but goes to a thanks page, not possible to obtain the link for download.

This wm6.0 also has the same BUG of battery drained by automatic active sync running.
ABOUT A2DP:
I think someone here must contact Khozura, he successfully make a2dp worked on hx4700 BT either on WM5.0 & WM6.0 by special patch cab.
Please someone here who knows Khozura ask him to make a patch for hx2000, thus we can enjoy a2dp.

Another BUG in WM6.0:
When using TCPMP player, you can not hear any audio from wmv video. Strange?? I can play and hear the same video at WM5.0.

I have used this rom on a hx2190, and i have found it impossible to sync my calander, being unable to use any of the windows live programs and there is no remote desktop mobie. Apart from them it seems to work

Hi all, I put it in my hx2795, the A2DP does not work, the fingerprint reader does not work, the TCPMP sometimes work and not with AVI and does not work with WMV.
I can not see the contrast and error reporting tools, I saw a post where the developer said it is a case of editing the registry but does not say where...
The boot at first time did not work I was in panic, after that took out the sd and cf, drained the battery and retried, it booted but I am afraid of rebooting it again...
I did not try Windows Live and sync calendar, hope it works...
I have tried other tools (excel, word) and it worked well.
I am not sure this ROM is stable yet, any sugestions ? should I try reflash it back to WM5 or there is anything I could do to minimize these problems and keep the WM6 ?

I am having the same hx2795 and I found the following
a) Active Sync is working, When I tried at first time it didn't work. After I did a hard reset then I enabled "Advanced networking" from the "USB" settings menu then it worked
b) Sync over Exchange server working fine
c) WiFi is working, I checked with WEP security
d) Bluetooth is working but A2DP is not working When I tried "High Quality Audio Profile" it says authentication failed, I never see it is asking me for the pass key, so I guess that may be the problem
e) TCPMP works fine for FLASH and AVI movies, WMV does not work because WM6 uses a higher version of codecs, so you have to use WMP or you need to replace the WM5 codecs, search through over the forum you will find a solution
f) Finger print authentication works great.
g) Windows Live and messenger is not working, it says there is no connectivity and I don't know what is the deal. But IM+ is working just fine
h) You can install Finster-WM6_RDP.cab as a Termial Service client, it is very good than the inbuilt RDP client in the original HP ROM and it allows you to connect services that use custom ports
i) ROM seems to be stable and I don't have any problem with other functionalities atleast untill now

I could not do 'contrast' and 'error reporting' show, any idea ?

even I don't see the contrast and error reporting menu, so I guess it might be work for some other hx2000 series and not for hx2795, or it may be some registry hack, I don't know

SKYPE is unable to run under WM6.1?

My device is CINGULAR 8525, I updated the system to WM 6.1, kernel version is 5.2.19174. SKYPE 2.1/2.2 is unable to run under WM 6.1 right now, I installed SKYPE successfully, either CAB or EXE file. But after I tap the icon on TODAY screen, it jumps out.
SKYPE was running well under WM 5.0 and / or 6.0.
Who has experience to run it under WM6.1?

Sorry if I'm not much help, but it does work for me (under 3g Skype or any other program has never worked under WIFI for me)

Maybe the problem is the kernel 19174.
And I could not run skype on some of kernel 19199.
Wondering pay more attention to WM6...

Yes, probably I should be back to WM6.0, if it is a problem for WM6.1.

As I said, on Shadow 2.1 TE - WM 6.1 (build 19199) works Skype without problem and I have no problem also on other WM6.1 ROMs! If You have Hermes, use version, I have mentioned in my first post here, because other versions are NOT working on this type of device (it is caused by device, not OS).

Processor is the problem. Hermes processor is build on arm9 architecture and Skype does not support it anynore (only messaging works). In other words you need a device with arm11 processor or the earlier version of Skype which supported arm9.

The last version of Skype that supported arm9 processors was Skype 2.2Beta version

I'm running the latest version of Skype (v. 2.2.0.37) on PDAviet WM6.1 (build 19900). It runs pretty fast. Faster than on any ROMs I have tried. Before I cannot use it as PPC to PC call but now its just like pc to pc call, with the absent of video though. I used it over WiFi.

works for me now also (build 19199).
I read somewhere on the net a while ago that Skype personel was working to get Skype work with arm9 architecture again, apparently they did it.

Which BlackBerry Client on my Artemis?

I have searched hours to have a blackberry client working on my Artemis :
- have tried many versions
- have tried different ROMs from Meschle
Everytime I have same result I cannot connect to Blackberry and the black berry client does not show any service...
Anyone have HTC P3300 (Artemis) with working Blackberry client?
Please advise I I really need this for my work...
My current configuration :
HTC Artemis P3300 unlocked
Meschle's ROM 4.02 Lite w CUBE
I live in the czech republic and my SIM card is a T-Mobile one with all services activated (BlackBerry + Edge...)

I have an Artemis and I am using the blackberry functionality successfully. Here is a site where you can find all information about HTC and blackberry:

Under Start-Settings-System-Device Information you can find all information required about the OS etc. of your Artemis. I use the 03.07.90 Radio version and it works fine for me. I use the Artemis Touch 3.01 Rom. Apparently nobody has been able to run the blackberry connect under WM 6.01.
For me it was crucial, to ask your IT department to re-activate my Blackberry account. Before, nothing worked and since then, it is quite stable. I use 4.0.0.97.

As mentioned, Blackberry connect does not work with WM6.1, but does with WM6. I am using
Artemis Touch 3.01 Rom
which is based on WM6.

So I downgraded ROM from 4.02 Lite WM6.1 to 3.01 Lite ...
Then I installed BB Connect (same version as you as all others don't work with this ROM and my device)
Finally I got the everything working!!! What a releaf !!!

P.S.2 : Didn't you notice that your device is slower after installation of black berry services?

How did you do the tweak of the registry?
In some instances, my Artemis has become slower, sometimes it even seems, it hangs up. But it seems that this is the price to pay.
BTW, HTC and RIM have now entered into a strategic partnership and all future HTC models should be automatically provided with Blackberry connect. Thus we might see an updated version of Blackberry connect sonn, that also works with WM6.1.

I have modified the registry this way :
1- add "PropertyPath" value="\Storage Card\Mail" datatype="string"
to this place in Registry : HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings
*** Note : Do not put quotes in the value... ***
*** You can edit registry with many editors such as PHM or TRK ***
2- Create a folder Mail in on your storage card
3- Copy whole content of \Windows\Messaging in the new created folder \Storage Card\Mail
4- Finally after you do this make sure that you take away the messaging today plugin from today screen (important... you can put it back after soft reset)
5- Soft Reset

I have another problem now with the BB Connect. Since I installed it everything is fine just I have to unlock my phone every 30 min using a password. This is very annoying as you have to open keyboard and enter password everytime you dont use your phone for some time...
Do you have this as well?

I have solved the password issue :
I downloaded MEMMAID application which is able to manage system services and I manually stopped the BlackBerry Security service.
Be careful though this is a powerful piece of software which can really harm your device if misused...
advice : do not change the service startup type (auto/manual) just stop the service after each Soft Reset otherwise you will not be able to use your device after soft reboot.

I managed to get my Blackberry Connect working on my P3300. Here are the details:
HTC P3300 (purchased in India)
Artemis Touch 4.02 ROM
Radio 3.08.90
Blackberry Connect Version 4.0.0.97
Device Id set to HTC_P3300
HKLM\System\Version\AKU = .0.3.1
Carrier = Airtel India (http://www.airtel.in/wps/wcm/connect/airtel.in/Airtel.In/Home/ForYou/BlackBerry/)
Connecting to BES on Exchange at company workplace.
I see email, calendar, notes and contacts synced from my Outlook.

I updated ROM (6.1) and for some reason the connection would last few seconds and then I would loose IP address...
Long time I didn't know what to do and even going back to original working ROM it didn't work...
Finally, I deleted my internet connection and soft reset.. HOP the connection was up and running again
So now I will add again my internet GPRS connection (for www and other games/weahter...) and will see... Probably I have to setup some sort of exceptions in the lists to prioritize BlackBerry somehow...

BTW, BlackBerry works with WM 6.1 ! Also there is new version 4.0.0.100 which works as well for me.
