Hi,
My problem: Two months ago, the display of my Alpine (HTC 2020i) crashed (not the digitzer). I bought a new display from china for 80$.
This worked for about 2 weeks, then, suddenly the background-light did not work any more. While trying to reopen the device (for checking the connectors) the digitizer broke and the phone is almost unuseable.
My idea would be to separate the digitizer (which should work) from my old display and replace the broken digitizer with the old one.
Will this work? How to separate the two things? Is it possible without breaking it?
Another solution would be: http://cgi.ebay.at/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330134835906
But there I've the same problem: How to change the digitizer?
Any hints are much appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
dy/dx
digitizer and display
it will work only if u will manage to put the digitizer correctly without distrubing the gas pattern on it recently my digitizer stop working so i sreviced it from a repairing center but i m not setisfied at all as i have to re align the screen twice or more in a day. so be careful while changing the digitzer do not press it too hard and check the youtube for the videos for how to change the digitizer they help u.
It is easy to replace the digitizer than the display. In this case one would have to b accurate to pull out the digitizer. There are 98% chance that it will fail, when remove digitizer from a broken display. My experience of fixing 100s of digitizers in various phones..including Palm and Athena

Hey guys!
I'm experiencing a very strange and annoying issue with my BA, and I was wondering if I could get some input from you.
So, here goes:
The touchscreen (not LCD) in my unit was broken, and thus I decided to fix it. I purchased a new one off eBay a few weeks ago, and just yesteday I proceeded to install it. To my surprise, something seems to have gone wrong.
I power up the unit, make my way into "Allign screen", and then the last "cross" that I have to touch rarely clicks in. On the other hand, when it does get detected, it simply restarts the alligning process.
What I've tried so far:
- allign right after installation -> no luck
- hard reset (on WM2k5_v4_R2.1) -> no luck again
- opened up the unit again, repositioned the screen -> nothing
- upgraded to Logout_WM2K5_5.4.03_HN -> still nothing
Right now I'm out of ideas, and I was hoping somebody here has some. Do you think the new touchscreen might be flawed ? I'm already discussing this issue with the seller.
Thanks for reading
New touchscreen or a refurb? Same type? (toppolly / sony) Sounds like it's been stripped from an old unit to me as it's not recognising the taps in the right places - can you see somehting like a liquid spill anywhere on the panel? This is what it looks like when the overlay touches the glass.

That was in fact my auction. Looked like brand spanking new to me, not one single stylus mark, and also had the protective sheet on. Of course, I might be wrong
Also, no liquid spill visible anywhere.

I bought from him also and am yet to fit - I got the completley wrong module :-(
Richard
What do you mean wrong module ? The "tip" of the flex cable ? Mine seems to match with what was already there ...
Hey NSD!
I purchased the exact same module for my Himalaya device, after the touchscreen being cracked.
My father, who is an electronic engineer, soldered the flat wire from the touchscreen onto the rear side of the LCD with normal copper wires. Unfortunately I have the exact same problem a you!
After attaching the entire LCD (+touchscreen) onto the mainboard, and supplying power from the battery, I'm not able to go past the Align Screen section!!!
The touchscreen is from the manufacture 'Asian Media' (I think so...).
It can't be a coincidence, that both of our touchscreens don't respond to tapping!!!
Anybody been able to get this problem fixed??
Any help would be appreciated!!!
Kind Regards,
Tony Schattat
I never replaced the touchscreen of my BA but I have replaced the screen of my ex ipaq 6315 once.
And one thing that I know is that sometimes the screen align process is different from the normal, I mean, it keeps repeating and repeating again many times....until the unit finally passes the align step and finishes the configuration. Actually I´ve "aligned" the screen more than 30 x (when I replaced the screen).
It happened just once and then I had a completely normal unit.
I have broken screen on my htc desire hd, i have replaced the LCD+digitizer before. i know my way around this phone.
Is it easy to replace just glass screen ?
I cant see how i can seprate them. they are glued in this black glue thingy.
Better buy whole LCD + digitizer?

I need to do the same. Also since dropping the phone my Bluetooth turns on and off but doesn't always connect. (highlights or ticks option , but I'm not getting anything on the top bar). I disconnect and re-connect a few times to get it working
While I have the phone apart is there anything I can do to fix it?
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S III using Android Revolution HD
I just replaced the glass only on mine. Unfortunately, the touch screen isn't responding. Anyone know where I might have gone wrong??? Everything else seems to work fine!
Probably a Ribbon Cable.

Try taking it back apart and re-place the ribbon cables back in there seat, they may not be making proper contact. If you replaced the glass without taking it apart you probably un-seated one of the cables. When working on iPhones there is a cable that is only held in place once you close it and put the phone back together.... It's a PITA.
Buy new part and dont replace . Your self its difficult. And its not easy
You can buy a "used" DHD device to replace yours. It'll be cheaper and easier... With a backup on sdcard, your device will be the same !
Yesterday i dropped my device from one feet. It turned off and i turned it on.
Now lower part of screen and capacitative buttons dont work. i will attach a image(non-working area outlined in red)
My warranty has expired so i cant exchange it for a new one. What should i do? Can i fix it by myself?
Please help me

Hi,
Only thing I can think of is that somehow it has damaged the cable from the touchscreen or the tiny wires that feed into the cable without damaging the screen. I came across a brand new screen I was replacing once for someone that had a similar problem where the bottom left hand corner wouldn't respond to touch unless there was firm pressure on the screen to create contact, and this was a brand new screen. It could also be that the touchscreen connector needs to be pushed back onto the board if it's come a bit loose.
If this is the problem, you can fix it by yourself although I'd have a good look around youtube, there are heaps of DIY videos of how to replace screens. If you do go down this path I recommend you replace the touchscreen/LCD/LCD frame in one go, as it's generally already pre- assembled the only thing here is that there are 3 brands of LCD's HTC used with the phone and they aren't all compatible, and you can only tell by pulling down your phone and looking at the LCD flex cable colours, and the other thing is that the screens that are available aren't always the same quality as the original. If this sounds to hard your best bet is to take it somewhere and diagnose the problem just in case it's something else
Hi!
If you want a bit of background, you can read my previous thread (the third post).
Long story short: I have replaced my screen with a LCD + digitizer assembly, and I have no touch function. It is completely unresponsive, even in recovery, so I guess it is a hardware issue. Here are my questions:
- What else than a flaw in the assembly can it be? Some connector? A separate processing module for touch?
- Does the digitizer have to be glued to the LCD to work? I happen to have a spare digitizer-only, so I thought maybe I could disconnect the digitizer glued to the screen (but not remove it), and connect the spare one I have and test to see if there is some reaction, but given the short cable, it would just be dangling. This is just for test, though, but if you tell me it has to be against the LCD to work, then there's no point...
Cheers!
Fa
I replaced my screen three times (LOL), i had the same issue, ask your seller for a replace, it is a HW issue for sure.
By the way, if you can't ask for a replace try to connect the digitizer and see if it works, but for my experience, unglue the digitizer and then replace it with the one you have is a "fool" thing, you can't do it with your hairdryer, you need a specific HW
Hi guys
I wanted to ressurect my old moto g5 (cedric xt1676) which i was not using for a longer time. Screen was cracked but touch worked just fine. I bought screen replacement assembly and connected it. Screen (picture) is working fine but touch is not working at all. Is there any way to solve this problem? What i found untill now is that after some update motorola/lenovo disabled support for 3rd party screens - one i bought is stated to be "original" but i doubt it.
I did a factory reset before removing old screen, after connecting new one, start menu was in russian (i can't read bukvas so its a guess ), after another reset it is back to english but touch is still not working. There is a padlock symbol in top left corner of the screen.
I just wanted to fix the old phone to give it to the family member but now i spent so much time on this issue that i want to fix it very badly.
Hope that someone can and want to help me.
At the end of the day it's all down to if the correct parts were used and if it was fixed correctly. Nothing we can really help with here.
It's Russian ransomware screen
Seriously always use OEM parts.
Make sure all connectors are intact; remove and inspect contacts. Make sure you didn't miss a ground or data connection; sometimes they are just contact points between assemblies. Using the wrong length screw may cause a missing contact pathway. Assemble exactly the way it was.
The mobo may have been damaged when the display was broken. High G impacts can internally damage chipsets and crack solder joints. Flexing a multilayered mobo can break internal traces.
Sorry to hear that. Anyway - i have nothing to loose so i would try with olderversion of android - is it possible to instal without working touch in the phone?
