I know with the new official rom it takes away the 8525 ability to be used as a BT modem for my mac. Are there any wm6 roms that will allow me to use my mac as a bt modem? I am currently using the new lvsw's newest rom (awsome rom by the way) my mac will not recognize the phone as a modem.
Any help would be great! Thanks!!!

I have tested it with several and they always work. You simply activate the internet sharing, then select on your maching (Join Network on <Paired Name>. No problems.
Have tested on Black, LVSW, Elf, Sleuth, abnd prolly others.
Mmmm ok Ill give it a whirl again maybe I was doing something wrong.

Hi guys
I'am alredy getting crazy about this. I upgraded my XDAIIs to WM5, ROM version 5.04.10, ext ROM is helmi c14 and I need to use my pda as a modem for the PC.
The problem is that when tapping to internet sharing everything seems fine but my PC doesn't find any PAN given by PDA.
I googled for 2 weeks already and I also tried some hacks to enable DUN but without results.
Please help me
hey everyone i recently purchased a cingular 8525 with wm5 and decided that it would be a good idea to upgrade to wm6 (don't know exactly why but i did it) anywho... after i did so i found out that the wifi does not work anymore and i'm new at this so i have no idea what could possibly be the prob. Before i upgraded the os, wifi worked like a charm didn't really have to configure it or anything just detect settings and available wireless signals etc and that was it. pleeeez ppl who ever knows what i'm talking about please pretty please help cuz this is annoying me

Which ROM did you upgrade to, also, did you flash HardSPL before that? which Radio ROM are you running, and does the WIFI actually turn on when you use the comm manager?
I upgraded to the WM6 Cingular USA version, I did not flash HardSPL before that. I assume that unless the upgrade from wm6 changed the Radio ROM I am running, I’m still running the same one that comes with the version of wm5 that came with the phone when I bought it (btw what is a radio rom? Sry for my ignorance) And yes the WIFI actually turns on when I use the comm manager in fact it all seems to work fine but I just cant access the internet with it, even though it detects a signal. It stopped working the moment I upgraded to wm6
After flashing roms I had the same problem..make sure under the tab network adapters the line that says My network cards connects to..is set on internet..most roms start out with it on work..that change always works for me
So i deceided to downgrade the rom from wm6 to wm5 and yes apparently it has something to do with the rom version because my wifi connection works again!! with the old version which is wm5, but the moment I upgraded again to v6 it stopped working and like I said everything in the settings seems to be working fine, there’s just no internet, I should just be happy with the old version of windows mobile but version 6 has some features that I really liked does somebody know why this is happening? and if yes is there a solution? It might b more obvious than I think but I really don’t know so I really appreciate those who post help and advise thank you!
Put it back to WM 6.0..we will figure out what is wrong. There are alot of really good people on this forum and the answer to your problem is here. WM 6 is so much better.
Thanx for the support and the advise. So i installed another version of wm6 this one seems to be for Dopod but at least the internet works!!, the one i previously installed was an official version of wm6 for cingular which like i said before, for some strange reason i was not able to use the internet with wifi my only concern with having this Dopod version is that... well... its for the Dopod and does not come with the features that cingular offers to AT&T/ cingular users like myself. But then again it seems like everything else works just fine I just wonder why the cingular version doesn't work?
Sounds like your a little new to this. Here one of the golden rules:check out the hermes wiki and learn alittle about the flashing process and the different roms and their settings. There are alot of good roms out there that set up for ATT users, like K's Rom ,which is what I've been using for months. Works fine right after flashing. It has the right amount of programs and tweaks. Do alittle research and it will be worth it. It may take a couple different roms to find what you are looking for. Make sure you HardSpl your phone(the guide of flashing is in the wiki) Good Luck

Had same problem with WIFI using (RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe) ROM. Had to disable the Cingular proxy. Select: START-PROGRAMS-PROXY MANAGER-DISABLE PROXY. After that, was able to connect to the internet with WIFI.

For people that are having problems with DXHC4 Radio, i would recommend they switch back to the XIHA7 radio..
I have had to do this to get back my gps connection with Garmin (Program Port 1, hardware port 9)

i got some experience in this.
the best method for radio upgrading is that, always do radio upgrade before rom upgrade.
i encounter one of this gps issues before. I update rom to ms rom and then update the radio. then i can detect my gps but i can't receive any signals. thus, i re update the radio again and update the rom after radio. it works then.
i am using dxhc radio now, and gps is working fine.
avantis, you may want to try flashing the dxhc radio first and then flashing the rom.

I would love to flash this for the Swedish rom is so full of bugs. But is there anyone knowing how to keep the Swedish keyboard layout ?
Same here with layout. I saved the registry to a file. Then I flashed the new rom. I ve changed the keyboard layout registry but when I reset the registry key contains the old value...

DXHC4 - PDA and PHONE, updated using Mirage and the PHONE+PDA+EBOOT img file yesterday...
And today, I updated the PDA part to DXHD1 ..
Set COM8 in the first GPS settings tab and enabled assited GPS
... and Garmin WORKS no problem... will try TomTom now
edit ................ TomTom works flawless too
Does this new Rom update de PDA and phone part or only the PDA part?

so I suggest flash the full 3in1 i780DXHC4 rom first, get the combo-hardkey hardreset feature and new phone rom, then flash this DXHD1 PDA only rom,
The Italian Radio works out of program port 1..the DXHD1 radio works out of program port 8? Strange but useful information nevertheless..

I was so simple with the Tytn II to keep the keboard layout. Hopefully someone finds out how to do that with i780 so we can start flashing So tired of the swedish bugridden rom but will find the phone pretty useless without the swedish layout

WLM works well both wifi and data, sorry Im from HK and we dont use Tom Tom...

actually is your auto config software problem and I did try.
If u just formatted the rom, use USB or wifi it works...
I use mannual input data and works well.
Please test these again, let data try last thing.

Just installed many program and optimize it .... too bad, if there any other method rather than hard-rest ?
I already retry the auto-config in operator setting and manual enter the AP but it doesn't work

Guys, why is everyone talking about port splitter ...? I've NEVER used any 3rd party app to get GPS up and running
TT7, GARMIN, IGO8, GPSTUNER, Sygic McGUIDER - all worked on EVERY stock ROM I've had (DXHC4+), including ALL modded EFN ROM's.. and I've always used COM8, 4800 baud..

me too...never understood what's this about?
all i had to do is to update the COM port to COM8 in GPS setup.
ried to update the phone part only.. flashing kept hanging in 57%.. hmm hope I can flash my phone part again..

I did the same thing (update of the phone part only) successfully.
Phone Firmware version is now DXHH1,
PDA is DXHE1 (EF 3.4U)
May I ask why some ppl just want to upgrade the PDA section only but not whole part?

I flashed with EBOOT + PDA + PHONE and didn't found any problem.
BTW, the HARD RESET LOGO was coming back after flashed to HH1 comparing with HE1.

what rom are you running? most roms these days are capable of getting b and g standards of 802.11
schaps 4.31 wwe full, stable and speed rom , but only wireless b , i have try crcinau rom and he have consist g (coping file with resco file explorer on mapped drive on my desktop PC (file size 100MB) speed is 300-400 KB. on schaps ROM speed is 80-100 KB (100MB file).

I experienced that on both Jasjam & TyTn with WM5.0 OS. It seems that I cannot get any fix but when flashed with WM6 it works and much better after I flashed with WM6.1.
