Html Messaging/email - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hi,
I've upgraded to WM6, i wanted to know, how do i setup the HTML email as i still receive HTML emails in code.
I've searched, and i concluded that HTML email is sent/setup through the Exchange server and only Exchange 2007 supports it. Is this true?

Yep sorry dude, the HTML support is only in exchange 2007 (hence why WM6 has it)

pop3 and IMAP as well(direct from the device)
active snc does not transfer HTMl(amazing but true.. M$... they don't know how to do any thing!)

My advice, if you really want HTML email and don't mind paying, get yourself a Exchange 2007 hosting package... I found a company in the US offering accounts for approx. £5 p/m - Bargin ... or as mentioned above, you can still setup POP/IMAP accounts and receive HTML... so its not all that bad!

HTML e-mail is quite nice And so is Exchange 2007

I believe the server needs to be running Exchange 2007 for html emails to work. Either that or microsoft live mail via, but you need to signed in to you live messenger account. Maintaining a constant connection can be a bit flaky at the best of times

POP3 accounts also download as HTML - you don't just get it when using Exchange 2007. If you're using push email and the server that's pushing is not running Exchange 2007 - you're screwed as far as getting it in HTML format. If your problem is that mails downloaded via a POP3 server are not being received as HTML, that's something different entirely.....
Mark.
so... the facts are like this... email received through pop3 account are in html format, but the emails form active sync do not show up in html format...

Correct!.....well, emails from ActiveSync will be in HTML if the server pushing them is running Exchange 2007; free push emails services like Mail2Web, 4SmartPhone etc. are all based on Exchange 2003, so won't be HTML.
Has that helped, or just confused things even more
Mark.
You can also get HTML mail via IMAP... a half way ish house between POP & Push Email!

TMO Dash HTML Email Issue

Wondering if anyone else is seeing this issue
T-Mobile Dash w/WM6
Exchange Srvr 2003/SP2 w/push
When setting up TMO Dash, set the email settings in ActiveSync to render "HTML".
Connect to Exchange "over the air" and finish setup of the device.
Power the device off/on Email settings turn back to plain text and the option is greyed out.
Exchange 2007
I read somewhere that you have to have an Exchange 2007 server for html emails to be supported with Activesync.
Exchange HTML email is only supported under E12 and WM6. Exchange 2003 will not work.
You can, however, view your HTML emails under IMAP or POP.

Can anyone receive HTML email?

Greetings,
I read that WM6 supports HTML email. After upgrading, I haven't been able to receive emails in HTML. I am syncronizing with Exchange Server 2003. Is there something I'm missing?
Cheers,
If you use activesync to setup your exchange account then it defaults to plaintext.
HTML email can be made possible only when you setup your account on your pda.

You can only receive HTML mail if you sync with a Exchange 2007 Server
thanks. I now have to wait for our IT to upgrade to 2007!

Can't see HTML email after upgrade on BT

Hi
I have a BT HTC S620 which I have upgraded to WM6 using the official BT upgrade on their website. The upgrade went smoothly but when I enter the email settings, I am unable to select HTML for message format and it greys out to "Plain Text".
Is there a reason for this or anything I can do view emails in HTML?
Thanks
M73
You can only view e-mails as HTML if you are using Exchange Server 2007 or if you're using a POP3 account. Synced outlook or Exchange Server pre 2007 will not provide HTML e-mail.

Mobile Outlook viewing italics/colors

When i receive an email on my 8525 there are no colors or italicized letters even if they were in the original email. Does anyone know if there is a way to change this so I can see it? I get emails all the time that say "see my responses below in red" and on my computer I can see it but on my handheld I can not. Thanks
Some more details please.
Which ROM are you using?
Account type -> Exchange 2003 / 2007, POP3 or IMAP?
I'm using the unmodified AT&T ROM (Windows 6) with an Exchange 2003 Server over activesync.
That's because Exchange 2003 doesn't support HTML to PDA's. Plain Text only. Exchange 2007 (or POP3 ) is required to see HTML.
Here is your answer:
WM5 / WM6 + Exchange Server 2003 = Plain text email only
WM5 / WM6 + POP3 / IMAP = HTML email
Currently if you want HTML email using Exchange then you need a Exchange 2007 Server to sync too, which incidently runs only on x64 hardware + 2003 Server x64.
Maybe a feature for Exchange 2003 SP3?.... but dont hold your breathe!
Cheers
STi
Thanks to both of you. It sucks that the phone is capable of things my server isn't but I guess that's reality (until we upgrade at least). Much appreciated though.
