Today Screen Entries for some Apps in Black 2.0 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I love Black 2.0 and hate to start a new thread on my little micro-problem, but also I don't want to clutter up the main Black 2.0 thread, so here goes...
I have a couple of utilities that I've re-installed but do not have the chance for the app to show up on the Settings->Control Panel->Today screen. One example is PocketAlarm. Another one is SPB Backup.
To give a specific example, I did go into PocketAlarm and select "Enable Today Plugin" on the config screen. Still, nothing shows up in the Control Panel to enable it.
I'm fairly new to Windows Mobile (as if you couldn't tell), so if I'm missing something, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-Humbert

try going to start, settings, today, Items tab and see if they appear in there and make sure they are ticked

I had similar prob with PhoneAlarm (most current beta). It was installed and could see it in the Remove Programs in Settings/System tab. but no show on the today screen or the Items tab.
What I did was remove it using Remove Programs and re-installed it. Everything turned out fine after that.
Let us know if this helped.

TouchFlo3D All Programs list not sorted properly

Hi All,
I got my TP2 at the weekend, and am very impressed - I've moved across from my Palm Treo 650, and am pleasantly surprised by how good WM6.1 is.
I have one problem - while fiddling at the weekend, I turned off TouchFlo3d and while it was off I installed a couple of apps (iSilo and eReader). When I reenabled TF3D, these two apps appeared at the bottom of the "All Programs" list in TF3D, rather than being in alphabetical order. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling them with TF3D running, but they won't budge from the bottom of the list.
Before I hard reset and start again from scratch, is there a config file or a registry setting I can manually hack to put these in their rightful place in the menu order?
Many thanks in advance,
Simon
PS Has anyone else noticed that you can use the magnet in the supplied pouch to fool the keyboard slide switch? With the TP2 asleep, touch the USB port on the bottom against the HTC logo on the flap of the case - best thing is to put the case flat on the desk, and then lower the TP2 vertically towards it. Watch as the TP2 comes on and rotates its display...
Locate the program. Then copy the program by: tap-holding the program and selecting copy.
Then you go to the following map: windows/startmenu.
Then past Shortcut there by tap-holding again and choose: paste shortcut.
Sorry - that doesn't fix it. The shortcuts are already present in Windows\Start Menu, so pasting them in again has no effect. The problem is the order in which the programs are displayed in the All Programs menu, which I suspect is controlled by a registry setting or a config file somewhere.
The last programs start with a small letter, the rest starts with a capitol.
Just change the first letter in a capitol, and it will sort correctly.
Ah - that sounds very promising! I'll give it a try...
That totally did the trick! Thanks!
I had the same question, thanks for posting this!
double listing in All Programs
I had the same problem (eWallet - changed to EWallet and it sorted properly).
I have another problem though. While moving things in my Start Menu into folders, I ended up with Abode Reader listed twice in the All Programs menu. How can I remedy this?
You guys are great - thanks for all the help!

Problem uninstalling weather app

I installed a Weather application which was really in-depth and added an extra tab on the Touch Flo 3D interface (a little black-and-white windows flag), but now that I've uninstalled it, the extra tab is still there and I don't know how to remove it - I think the app may have been called Weather Panel but I'm not sure.
I know it still says 'MTP Settings' on the last tab which takes me to a settings page, and I've uninstalled the program, run my SK Tools packages (registry cleanup, bad shortcuts cleanup) but to no avail...
Does anyone know how to delete this bloody last tab?
Maybe if you disable TouchFLO, install it, enable TouchFLO, disable TouchFLO, reboot, and uninstall it, the extra tab will go away. This is what I do when a program gives me issues with TouchFLO, and it usually works. Hope that helps
Thanks for the advice, but I've already uninstalled the 2 programs via settings-system-remove programs, and also ran the SK Tools tidy-up feature, but the extra tab in Touch Flo 3D is still there at the end.
I think I may have to just re-install the thing and live with it....

Today screen items

I have been searching for 3 hours, Can't find the answer...
I am running the stock AT&T/HTC rom. I want 1 Today screen that has everything on it that I use frequently: apps, contacts, calculator, etc.
I was using SPB mobile shell, but my "running tasks" icon (in upper right corner) disappeared & I could never figure out how to get it back.
I uninstalled SPB MS and I am back to the stock shell (and my "running tasks" icon is back)...I went to Today settings and unchecked TF3D because I don't want to scroll thru a bunch of pages, I just want all my frequently used items in one place, the today screen. This setup worked perfectly on my Kaiser using SPB Pocket PC. But, I wanted the much bigger screen that Tilt 2 offers.
Anyway, after unchecking TF3D on the today settings...my home screen is blank and when I go back to Today Settings, Items...there are only a few things I can add...like date, calendar, owner info. How can I add shortcuts for apps and games I have installed? I know the Today screen is unchangeable when you are running touchflo but I have disabled it. I tried a soft reset, that didn't change anything...the Windows default isn't any better of an alternative...pls help! I have tried wording my search 20 different ways and I cannot find the answer. THANK YOU!

SPB makes another great solution that will do exactly what you're looking for, it adds all that type of functionality to the stock WM home screen without using any shell interfaces or losing your task manager. It's called SPB Pocket Plus, and details are here.
thanks, I didn't want to use that program because it says its only compatible up to WM 6.0 (and my phone uses WM 6.5)...but I installed it and it works great...w/full screen functionality...was worried about that. THANK YOU!!!

Glad it worked! I swore by that program back when I had WM 5.1 on my Wizard, and it still works great on the latest versions even though few people stay with the stock start page anymore

Today Screen & Manila itself.

Hi all,
Question actually 2:
1) I checked but didnt find what I was looking for dont know if it even exists. Is there a standalone program out there that you can install and access from the programs menu so that if for any reason when manila crashes (which happens often) that you can hit start and then tap the icon to re-start manila? Cause many of times Manila will crash or hang and other then powering it off or taking the battery out, you cant restart it.
2) As for the today screen, I dont know thats why I am asking, I was toying with some of the editors posted around for the png and gui, and noticed you can compress alot of the images that appear. My question is, will it make a big impact to how the screen looks meaning jagged edges, ugly etc?, The reason I ask is cause since the today screen has alot going on, and being that manila is sluggish as it is, I was wondering is compressing the images or files, would speed up the loading process and speed up some of the loading from screen to screen.
1. You can use cleanram for this. It will clean you're memory and restart manila. Make sure you don't have manila on you're exception list.
Ive used this before. just saw there was an update thru the program (props for that feature). Just thought there was maybe a simple program that just restarted it. but thanx for the input!
anyone with any ideas for Q2?
Been using the MAX MANILLA rom for about 4 days now. the only issue I've been having is just GUI stuff and txt'n software prob.
EX:
1) the Digital clock will sometimes freeze (no biggy)
2) If I was to send a text on my device to somebody, it wont show up on the screen, I would have to change screens and then go back to my text messages to see it.
3) sometimes the device will show you have a txt when you've already read it.
Same goes for.......if i was to stay in the text messaging program and somebody sends me a text message, I'd have to move to another screen and then come back to the text screen to see it.
Anybody else having this issue?
Update here you guys. I dont know if its the reboot that fixed the txt messaging error or installing the ATT tilt2 keyboard fix.
But now my text messages are working properly. it shows up on the screen as i send it.
Thats great youngWMuser glad you fixed your problem, but it has nothing to do with the topic of the post. If you have issues create a seperate post to solve your issues, Thanx.
lol. sorry. I'm using Manilla and the thread said "today screen and manila itself" haha. That's why i posted on here. And the text problem still is occuring.
Rather than installing a program to take up more space, you could go to Start>Settings>Today, click on the Items tab. De-select Manila (in my case, it's TouchFlo 3D) and hit okay. It will take you back to the Settings page, select Today again and go back to the Items page and re-select Manila. When installing a new TochFlo 3D theme, I do that rather than doing a soft reset. It seems a little quicker to me.
Take a look at this. The "Things you should know" and "History" sections might help.
Just out of curiosity, what versions are your ROM and Manila
JCTerry,
Your right, but in the the 2.5 manila the setting page to get to all settings, still access a manila tab, which is of no use, but you did make me think of another way. Does anyone know what the CPL is to access the all settings page, I could just create a shortcut in the programs menu.
But I am still curious about the compressing of the files for the today screen, has anyone ever tried it?

LeeDrOiD theme

Hey all,
I've been guest reading xda developers for a couple of years and decided after getting an Android based phone (DHD) I should sign up.
After using my DHD for a week I decided to move from the horrible default ROM (Vodafone AU) to a custom ROM (LeeDrOiD).
After working out how to root the phone and install the ROM via ROMManager, everything was great!
One thing I really loved when I loaded on LeeDrOiD was the whole theme had changed - instead of the 3 buttons at the bottom of my phone screen (The up arrow, phone and personalise) I now had 3 buttons in the middle - an image of a phone, 9 small squares made into one (list apps) and another (don't remember what that was).
Upon opening my app list, they all listed in a "3D" manner - you could see the tops of the icons on the next row, and when you scrolled down it was as though they were rolling up.
Unfortunately today I realised that when I set up the phone I used my Google Apps account instead of my normal Google/GMail account. This seemed irreversible without factory resetting the phone.
So I backed up all my apps, made sure all the data on my SD card was safe, and wiped and reinstalled LeeDrOiD on my phone.
Unfortunately now it is on a more default looking setup, with a rounded bottom area and the default options. The icons now just move in a normal fashion when scrolling through them.
So I ask this forum - how can I restore the cool theme/skin that I had?
My apologies if I've used any incorrect terminology - please feel free to correct me, as I'm still learning!
Cheers!
Update:
Apparently what I'm looking for is called "3D Drawer":
hxxp://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/supergenesis/snap20101109_112104.png
I understand I need to disable HTC sense to do this (and presumably to have the menu on the home screen I was talking about). This is now making a lot of sense to me, as I remember I wasn't able to use the HTC widgets (which was fine by me).
If someone can point me in the right direction of this, it'd be very appreciated .
Update #2
I've worked it out! For anyone who's trying to work it out in the future:
1) Open Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
2) Choose "HTC Sense" (it'll be the one with the picture of the weather/time widget on it - there may be 2)
3) Scroll to "Launch by default"
4) Click "Clear defaults"
5) Hit your "Home" button
6) You should see a popup asking what to open this with - choose "Launcher" and tick the default option
Anyway, feel free to close this thread - thanks for giving me somewhere to think out loud xda-developers .
