Flexmail not working on WMXL v0.20? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hi,
I got WMXL v0.20 running on my device and I would like to use flexmail. I tried to install the last Beta release which should work on WM6.
http://download.pocketinformant.com/FTF/FlexMail_2007_R2_Public_Beta/PB1_1418/
But it does not. When installing the cab file I get an error message Flexmail requires a pocket PC 2002/2003/2003SE system. Anyone figured out a way to install Flexmail?
Thanks

Cannot help you: But consider NOT to install FlexMail. Its really buggy and developer is not very responsive about criticism.
The built in eMail client does have SSL encryption and it does read HTML emails - one key reason why a lot of people used FlexMail.
For me using FlexMail I would loose all my eMails twice a week. Then SMS/TEXT would not work properly anymore - even if you would not use FlexMail for these messages. I spent quite a while figuring out that FlexMail was causing all the problems. And no help from the developer - no refund of money - instead he urged me to send him more and more log files. Well - I was not beta testing
Now using the WM6 standard eMail client without any problems

Hallo Applestar,
thanks for the hints. So far I was using the standard email client in WM6 and everything worked fine. Since this week I have the following problem. When there is an email in the outbox there is an autentication problem. The smtp server I use requires authentication and the wm6 email client does not handle it properly as the autorisation is always refused. It is not a problem with the password nor with the smtp server as sending emails work fine from my laptop. So I wanted to try Flexmail as an alternative which in this case I better not.

I had the beta version working just fine... are you sure your downloading the right cab/install version?

With WM6, I no longer need FlexMail. The reasons I needed FlexMail were for HTML mail and proper IMAP sync/delete support.
Now with WM6, HTML support seems to be pretty good. And IMAP account emails that I delete and resync seem to really get deleted as expected.
I never could get SMS to work properly with FlexMail either. And it would lose my db's every few days to the point where I had to conciously back up its Mail folder constantly so when it did upchuck, I could just replace the folder and resyc. Total pain. Good riddance.
Now if only MissingSync would support WM6, I'd be one happy guy.

I considered to install Flexmail for the IMAP Idle Support.
But if it's so crappy.....
So how can i use IMAP Idle with the build-in Outlook on WMXL 0.20?

Exchange SP2 Push Mail Providers

Hi all,
Just upgrading to new Imate ROM. Now it seems that Universal has push email can anyone recommend an Exchange SP2 direct push email provider for consumer market? Many thanks for taking the time to read.
Tom C (UK)
The onlyone I know for the moment is 4smartphone.net - if you find any better (means cheaper), let me know!
Some report are saying 4smartphone.net takes 30 seconds to push an email to your device, rather than 5 seconds or less that others are getting via their own exchange servers.
Its worth asking these website exchange account providers what frequency they run the push 'heartbeat' at - you might end up with a big bill if they haven't set the Exchange/firewall to a reasonable rate.
Device SMS Address
I've just signed up for the 4smartphone trial, but Orange are completely unable to tell me what the Device SMS Address should be. They don't have a clue what this is about. I was guessing [email protected], but that doesn't work.
Does anyone know what it should be?

If you're using the aku2 rom then you don't need an sms address. The MSFP/Direct Push works via http not sms. Waaaaaay better!
Settings
I think it is that version. I'm using the new ROM version 1.30.68 with Radio version 1.09.00. I can see the push mail icon in Comm Manager, but it's greyed out, so I'm not sure where to go from here. The 4smartphone support pages are not exactly informative.
Can anyone point me to a website about setting this up? My searches are not getting me far.
Thanks.

Got it working
Just need to ignore the instructions on the 4smartphone web page about SMS Device.
From the moment of clicking send on my Desktop to the email arriving in my device inbox the time taken is about 25 secs, which includes gmail forwarding it to the 4smartphone address.
4smartPhone Help!!
Glad to hear that you got the SMS problem sorted which help me out too. I can now sync with contacts but what do I do for the email. Do I have to set an account up on WM5 which I have done but there is no push coming through I have to manually send and receive. Any help much welcome. Thanks
You need to set it up using active sync in WM5. You will need to add a server (secure.4smartphone.net) then your username, password and domain (4smartphone). It will then sync using the GPRS connection.
I've got Outlook desktop, Outlook Web Access (with smartphone) and Outlook on WM5 all synchronizing nicely. My only problem is that I have three pop email account on Outlook desktop, but 4smartphone only seems to work with one.
And just to add the obvious, you need to have email being forward to the address that you got @smartphone.com

4Smartphone.net are US based, where email to SMS is very common. It took the Americans about three years to wake up to the fact that everyone else in the world has to pay for SMS messages to be sent - hence the new push technology from Microsoft.
What they are referring to is a feature known as AUTD (always up to date) which is how Exchange used to do push. A specially created SMS text message would be sent to your phone which told your device that something had changed, and it would then do a sync.
I am told that it worked very well - it is just unfortunate that for everyone outside of the USA the feature would cost many thousands to run for each single user.
Simon.
4smartPhone Help!!
Thanks for your quick reply. I have forwarding set up and all the correct settings for Active Syn in WM5, UserName, Password, Domain and Save password. Under the Options in ActiveSync there now appears and Exchange Server with the following selected Contacts, Calendar, E-Mail, Tasks.
I'm still not sure though what to do with the email all the above are syncing via 3g. In the Messages section do I have to create a new account and if so what are the correct setting for this?
Thanks again for the help and suggestions.
Tom C.
When it syncs with the Exchange server it automatically goes into the Outlook email inbox on your device. If you've previously been synchronizing with the desktop it wipes out those emails, which is why I'm trying the Pro version of 4smartphone and synchronising all three.
Have you checked if test emails you are sending are reaching the 4smartphone email address? You can do that by logging into the web version of Outlook via the link on their website.
Also the push email icon in Com Manager should now be working and it will say Microsoft DirectPush at the top.
That may not be much help, but I am also completely new to this.

Once again thanks for the help. Just about got it sorted as I read your reply. The missing link for me is that the you don't have to sent up a seperate email account I was looking for server addresses extra but all those go under ActiveSync. Getting mails fine now but not too sure yet about sending them. Are yours sending fine or is there a delay?
Thanks again, you are still once step ahead of me
I've got Push email working with mail2web.com and have a few questions:
I've gota couple of email addresses that won't forward to my mail2web email account and I don't really want to use mail2web's harvester as that only checks once every hour, so I was wondering whether it's possible to set Outlook on my PC to synce with my mail2web account so that my PC will download emails from my POP accounts, then upload them to my mail2web server, which then pushes the emails to my phone?
Or is there a simpler way to do it?
Also, when I reply to an email that's been pushed the reply address is always my mail2web email address, which is a pain as it confuses people and gets rejected by my email groups. How can I change the default address that my replies go from, or even just change them on each email as I reply?
I'm sure I'll have more questions soon.! Cheers.

WM6 & xpressmail not deleting from server

I'm using xpressmail with Lotus Notes at work. I just upgraded my phoen to Windows Mobile 6 and the newest xpressmail client. When I delete mail on my phone, it does not delete on the server. I can delete 100 messages on my phone, synch it manually or automatically and the mail is still in my server-copy. It's very annoying. It will mark read messages as read on the server, just won't delete.
Any ideas? This worked fine on WM5.
xpressmail client version 6.6.4.160
xpressmail phone version 6.7.3.296

Hmmm, I also use Xpress Mail, and mine NEVER actually deleted anything from the server when I "deleted" it from the device ... not under WM5, nor any of the versions of WM6 that I have used. Are you SURE yours used to have this ability under WM5?
Anyway, considering how often I mess with this phone, flashing ROMs and playing with configs, I don't think I'd WANT it to be able to delete my work email, since it sometimes gets confused when a new ROM is flashed, and then when it re-registers, it finds mail in the download path. I like being able to see the mail "magically" disappear when I move stuff out of the Inbox at the desktop at work
But that's me.

Yahoo! Mail Issues

I really have no idea what the problem is here. I used to be able to send emails fine when I had WM 6.0 installed. I upgraded to 6.1 which automatically found imap settings for Yahoo Mail. This was working fine to send emails until recently.
Now I cannot seem to send emails at all but I can recieve them fine over imap. My phone (T-Mobile Vario II) doesn't seem to want to allow me to set up Yahoo Mail using the POP protocol; it automatically defaults to IMAP and gives me no option. I'm using Pays WM 6.1 ROM (build 3.05) if that makes any difference to anyone.
It's getting very frustrating not being able to send emails when I've just read an urgent one I've received!
Current settings are:
Incoming: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com (with authentication)
(No SSL on either server)
I don't seem to be able to find the port numbers.
Any help much appreciated!
thats the same settings i have and mine works, double check that the proxy is not enabled if you are using media net.
I had the same issue with CRC's rom. I'm lazy, so here is what I did:
1. Delete the account you created (imap).
2. Create a new account, but on the email field write something like [email protected] ...etc. (i.e. mispell yahoo)
3. Now it will ask you to setup the account manually, i.e. Internet mail, POP3, etc.
I use:
incoming -> pop.mail.yahoo.com:110
outgoing -> smtp.mail.yahoo.com:25 (Required SSL)
Hope this helps.
Many thanks dgaud007,
I hadn't thought of that and so obvious as well. Will be trying that immediately!
im having this same issue since goin to 6.1 on a Dash. Tried the yaho.com suggestion elow but it still won't always send.
Any ideas?

Win Mobile has always auto configured my Yahoo! account to IMAP (which I am pretty happy about anyway)... That said, I'm using a yahoo.co.uk account.. Don't know whether it applies to yahoo.com accounts..
I have tried using the Auto Configure and tried configuring it manually. Still cannot send about half of the time. Very weird because it always worked fine until I went to the 6.1 ROM.

From what I read in one of the Kaiser threads from incognito there was a brief mention of a bug in the 6.1 builds were about 1/2 of the time the logon authorization fails. It has happened to me even on the new 19213 version. I don't know how to fix it at this point (if it's something that can be done after the ROM is cooked). I'm using PAP authentication for now, and so far, haven't seen the issue again.
I'm still having this same issue. Anyone else? Any ideas on how to make Yahoo! outgoing email work with Kavana's 6.1 ROM?

How can I get IMAP working again?
I have recently installed Windows Mobile 6.5 on Kaiser. I was able to access yahoo mail for some time but now I can not both send and receive mails. I have also tried the method incoming -> pop.mail.yahoo.com:110
outgoing -> smtp.mail.yahoo.com:25 (Required SSL) and it is also not working. I have recently installed G-Profile and 3G Dialer may be they have caused the problem.

SMS & Exchange synchronisation => crash

Hi,
I am using the new SMS synchronisation with exchange, but sometime, after a while, sending a new SMS to my contact through the OWA just kind of crash my phone. Active sync become unresponsive and the phone gets hot!
The only solution left is to reboot the entire phone...
Does anyone else experienced this issue?
Any help, advice welcome!
Thank you
Wait, what's this? SMS through OWA? Sync SMS with Outlook? Need more info.

I am not sure that this feature is really interesting, because it is buggy so far. Pushing SMS from the phone to exchange works fine, but OWA to the phone is buggy.
This feature comes with exchange 2010 and WM6.5. If you have both, after your first sync you'll be able to enable it.

Yeah, I've read about this feature of Exchange 2010 -- sounds cool...wish my Exchange-Server host would upgrade from 2007.
Of course, phone getting hot and locking up sounds less cool...
Hi everbody,
I'm operating my own Exchange and recently upgraded it to 2010.
A colleague of mine and I are using HD2's where I have the same symptoms. I wasn't able to send an SMS through OWA (altough the server's listing the mail under "Sent items").
Strangely the text message is showing up in the conversation view on the phone.
When I now open up Outlook 2007 (as 2010 rtm hasn't been released, yet) the message is still in the outbox (unsent items, don't know what the translation is).
Now it comes:
A third person is using a Touch Diamond with some hacked Windows Mobile 6.5 - working flawlessly.
Anyone of you looked at that post?

Maybe that's a solution, but I haven't tried, yet.
@Brainscanner
i read the post, but i can't apply it to the rhodium
Just gave it a try. Working fine for me and the colleague with HD2's.

email client sucks badly

Basically there are two main flaws which MUST be fixed by HTC!
1) 9 times out of 10 when you try to create a new imap account, the setup doesn't proceed over the incoming server page so you can't configure it at all
2) you can't add untrusted certificate when syncronizing with an exchange server (this function is supported by standard android client and I can't understand why htc removed it!): I'm not able to recieve push corporate mails becouse of this and was forced to use K-9 client (which works as a charm)
HTC must fix these issues as soon as possible, as they make the Desire unusable as a reliable business tool. Seriously

I haven't had any problem with corporate exchange certificate when was using my old windows mobile phones nor with my former Androids (Hero and Magic) but with this Desire it's a nightmare. When using K-9 client everything works fine so I think it's HTC client's fault...
Will be interesting to see whether anyone else has the same issue. I can't fault it, works just as well as it did on my Hero!
Untrusted certificate problem...
I've got this problem too, but, I don't know why, after few attempts, the problem is switched off by itself.
I don't know if it is possible to load the certificate into the phone via browser, but you can try this way.
Sending email via outbox without data connection is not possible...
This is another odd issue:
If there is not a data connection, the email client is NOT able to send email. Normally the email clients move email into the outbox folder for a future sending when a data connection will be available.
It's simple to test. You can try this issue, disabling every data connection on your phone.
This is very boring issue, mostly for those people that strongly use email for business.
Any feedback about?

Exactly the same with me too. Which version of Exchange are you using? If it is 2007 just remove the handset from exchange managed devices then recreate the account on the handset. Might help?
Just to confirm, currently using Exchange 2003.
Weird, the client is working perfectly for me, with Exchange 2007. I wonder what it is about your environment that triggers the problem?
I've setup IMAP acounts many many times with no issues at all on my Magic because of constant re-flashing ROMs ;-) (most of the time with the HTC mail client). Also the 2 IMAP acounts on my desire were setup in minutes with no problem. Maybe your device is faulty?
i had as well no problems setting up my corporate exchange account. it was exactly like on my hero. it showed me a warning about the certificate once, i think i pressed ignore and that's it. no more problems.
Exchange 2003
Cheers

Oh yeah I forgot about the IMAP bit. I use IMAP for my personal email account and again, it worked first time and has worked perfectly since. Same on my G1, though the default client lacked some functionality on there.
Do you have good connectivity when you run through the IMAP set up process? When you enter your details it tries to connect and verify that they are correct, so I wonder whether this is the delay/hang you're seeing?

Indeed have this issue with exchange 2003.. Just to bad.. It's so close to being perfect, but now I have do dig out my iphone again..
I've been in touch with HTC customer service. They don't see this as a bug, but agreed to open a feature request to allow 'download and trust certificate' aka TouchDown does..
not had any exchange issues on my desire with exchange 2007 or 2010 as of yet. really pleased with the email client actually, works a lot better than my n97 one did!
