I tried to connect with active sync with bluetooth but it gave me a headache.
It kept adding in com ports last time i checked it would only connect to com port 22.Stupid think. is there anyway to get the com ports back to normal, the jaz jar will only display from o to 9 I think.
Is there a way to activesync via wifi as i do have a wifi router.
thanks
pete.
Quick answer: No.
Long answer: From activesync 4 onwards MS removed the ability to sync over WiFi. Even if the option was available in activesync on the PC, WM05 devices don't even have the option to sync over WiFi. WiFi sync was very usefull in the older versions of the OS, but it was disabled for security reasons after requests from large corporations. Its unlikely that it will reappear any time soon.
Quick answer:yes.
If you're syncing to an exchange server then it works fine, depends what you want to sync I guess?

stupid as i may sound.. i wanted to know how to sync with exchange server and what is it and how is it helpful
Enable your account for mobile access in excahnge server, and add the server on your mobile device.
Easy as that.
Basically find the instructions for push email follow that, just don't set the schedule to "as items arrive" then whenever you do sync with the wireless up it will use that.

Hi, i have the new rom installed and an exchange 2003 server running sp2. Where can i get information on how to set up the push email? :?
Does it work on the new rom properly?
The setup is very simple.
Configure Exchange Active Sync as normal and confirm that it works.
Then change the schedule to "As Items Arrive".
The push part is enabled in the Communications Manager - it is the icon with the envelope and an arrow pointing towards inwards.
However I haven't yet worked out how to get it to work without a cellular connection. ActiveSync throws and error if you don't have the mobile part turned on.
Simon.
I did activate the Microsoft DirectPush nonetheless the

Does not arrive to the Handheld, and I checked in the server ( via OWA ) and there are many new emails, please help, thanks
Does regular Exchange Active Sync work?
If you go in to Active Sync on the handheld and press Sync, do you get the new email messages?
If not, then push will not work either.
If it does - then it only pushes new messages as they arrive - not messages that were already there.
Simon.
I can't connect through PIE. Thanks,
You're going to have to give more info if you want any help. Config for OWA is very straightforward - just set up the http address of your OWA server in Activesync (option to sync with exchange server instead of locally) work through the options and then it activesync will work over the wireless data. That said, please make sure you read the various info sources for configuration before you ask a question thats answered elsewhere and get jumped on
If you have problems either risk it and post or PM me
lol, what possible reason would you have for accessing OWA on your Hermes...you should put it into ActiveSync on your phone for live push mail and auto updating contacts/calender etc. Unless you have a reason to NOT do this, i'm not understanding why you would want to use PIE to access OWA.

Only reason I can think of is access to Public Folders...?
I use OWA to access my work email system, occasionally.
Hermes Outlook actually syncs up with my own Exch2007 server.
Lets face it, we all use the device for different things in different ways...

That's normal, the number of ****'s doesn't reflect the length of your password. You should re-check your login details and connection settings though....
Could it be some security setting my company has placed on the server?
To set up pocket outlook to sync with your exchange server you need the option on the exchange server to connect via SSL.
You also need to get a copy of the SSL certificate and install it to your device.
If you can already access your email through your outlook inbox on your PC through SSL (Not OWA, look through the accounts settings in outlook) you are halfway there. Just get the certificate and install it to your device.
Absolutely could be an issue on your company's server. Where I work they explicitily prevent access via the server. I spoke directly to the sys admins of the server and they said OH we do that for security purposes as we only support Blackberries... If you want your email get a blackberry... Sorry not gonna happen. So I too use OWA all the time..
Active sync is not working on my device. I'm not getting any e-mail. Am running Energy 23016 rom.
I would check to see if your USB port your plugging into is active first, try all of the USB ports on your computer. If they are all active, then I'd go into the Active-Sync connection settings and make sure "Allow USB connections" is checked. And make sure its set on automatic.
Active Sync works with Outlook only. You can't Sync your contacts without Outlook I believe. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) If you're trying to use e-mail from something other than Outlook you can set it up through your phone.
Well, I'm trying to Google sync, but I'm not really getting any e-mails frmo the server, even though I am doing everything on the instructions.
So you've tried these steps? http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
Its still in beta right now, so I don't know how stable it is. If you're using G-Mail and just want e-mails, you don't really need that program. Its built right into your ROM to get e-mails like SMS.
It's appairs that it's a temporary problem from Google. Just wait & see.
I tried Gooogle sync for emails when it 1st came out a couple months ago. But I dropped it since attachments don't work. Has this since been addresssed and fixed by Google?
I've tried using Google sync several times, but every time it sucks so bad I've gone back to IMAP. IMAP + the imappusherservice works great.
I need some help with a Exchange problem on my windows phone 7.
I will like to sync the mail and calendar with the exchange server at my work place, but it is a local server and there is no wifi. I have therefore connected the phone with USB to my desktop computer (with Zune).
If I connect to the exchange server in internet explorer (on the phone) is there no problems, but I can not get it to connect in "email & accounts". I have installed the certificate on the phone and there is no warning before open logon in internet explorer (h t t p s : //[workserver].local/Exchange/ )
When I try to sync I get this error:
Not updated
There's a problem with
[workserver].local. Try again later.
Last tried 2 seconds ago
Error code: 85010014
If I try with out the USB cable in the phone I get this (expected) error message:
Not updated
Make sure the server info in this account's settings is correct, and that you have a data connection.
Last tried 2 seconds ago
Error code: 80072EE7
If I go in to settings and change my password to something wrong I get a:
Outlook account info is incorrect.
I can then type in my correct password and get the same error code 85010014.
Do some one know the right way to connect to a local Exchange server from Windows Phone 7 over USB and Zune?
Exchange does not sync with phones via USB. Never has, and never will. Dunno if this thread is a joke and we're being trolled, or if it's serious...
You sync over ActiveSync, and that should be easy enough to set up if you know what you're doing.
It should work. When you're connected via USB the phone uses your computer's network connection. Are you sure ActiveSync is enabled on the Exchange server and for your account?
I am serious.
I have tryed to test Outlook Mobile Access (OMA) on both my work desktop and mobile by connecction to: h t t p : //[workserver].local/oma/ )
In both the PC and mobile do I get a login screen an then this error:
A System error has occurred while processing your request. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact your administrator.

I don't believe there is any license. You just need Exchange 2003 SP1 and ActiveSync is included. SP2 came out six years ago, so I'd hope that's installed already.
After the OTA update to EC05, I can no longer connect to my exchange 2003 server via Exchange Active Sync. Also had probs with WiFi hotspot not working and the voice search was eff'd up.
Sprint fixed the Hotspot prob and wanted me to prove exchange active sync is working (kinda hard when it won't work on my phone), so I used the techs phone, entered my info and within 2 sec, it had connected and was ready to configure the settings. This proved to them that it wasn't my server but their software.
When configuring, I de-select the SSL and it can't connect to the server, I select SSL and it says Unable to open connection to server due to security error.
Select both SSL and Accept all SSL certificates and get Cannot connect to server, yet as I stated previously, it worked on the tech's phone and he acknowledged that he had a custom build.
Any ideas?

Can you change what port the SSL connection is attempting to use?
Maybe check a phone that it works on and compare the port #s
here is a link where there are lots of others discussing the same issue with various fixes

this one in particular may be of some help

Got it!
Samsung Epic 4g, v2.2.1
Corporate Sync did -not- work for me (i.e. Accounts & Sync>Add Account>Corporate>Email address & Password) even using the “\” instructions above.
What did work for me was using the normal Email accounts setup (i.e. Choose “Email” application> Press -menu- and choose “Add Account”> Enter “Email address” & “Password”> Choose “Exchange Account”>Enter “Domain\Username” -used both domain\username no slash in front, “Password”, “Exchange Server.”
Not sure why there is an option for Corporate option for email (perhaps google apps?) if so many people having issues with it. Anyway, just choose the normal email setup.

good luck
I have seen this issue on motorola devices but personally never had this happen to me. I use my phone on a 2003 exchange server. In fact 70 percent of the people at my job have company android phones, either htc or samsung branded. Some motos but moto has problems. One thing i could recommend is download touchdown email app trial and it sometimes kick starts your active sync. I'm also not on stock rom if that makes any difference.
