Google sync - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Active sync is not working on my device. I'm not getting any e-mail. Am running Energy 23016 rom.

I would check to see if your USB port your plugging into is active first, try all of the USB ports on your computer. If they are all active, then I'd go into the Active-Sync connection settings and make sure "Allow USB connections" is checked. And make sure its set on automatic.
Active Sync works with Outlook only. You can't Sync your contacts without Outlook I believe. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) If you're trying to use e-mail from something other than Outlook you can set it up through your phone.

Well, I'm trying to Google sync, but I'm not really getting any e-mails frmo the server, even though I am doing everything on the instructions.

So you've tried these steps? http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
Its still in beta right now, so I don't know how stable it is. If you're using G-Mail and just want e-mails, you don't really need that program. Its built right into your ROM to get e-mails like SMS.

It's appairs that it's a temporary problem from Google. Just wait & see.

I tried Gooogle sync for emails when it 1st came out a couple months ago. But I dropped it since attachments don't work. Has this since been addresssed and fixed by Google?

I've tried using Google sync several times, but every time it sucks so bad I've gone back to IMAP. IMAP + the imappusherservice works great.

how to get google contacts/calender on tp2 6.5

hello,
i flashed to 6.5 official and i was wondering if there is any easy way to sync all of my data calender and contacts to my phone now, im really used to the google system. and yes im coming from a g1
Google sync
unfortunately google sync for Windows mobile is a big pile of pooo.
It would sync once, after that you will most likely encounter a problem on scheduled syncs.
At least in my case, i would sync it once installed a new ROM, then delete the exchange settings from the Active sync. This will stop you from going crazy after several failed attempts to synchronize after
Can't you just set up the mobile exchange feature of Google? Not to use a bad word, but my Wiff's iphone is set up that way and all contacts/calendar/email are in perfect sync with her google account? I just selected the "Exchange" configuration.
I have to admit that I have yet to try it with my TP2... I would think if anything it would work just as well
I'm syncing my contact, calendar and mails via active sync protocoll too and it works fine (using google as like as an exchange server, not the separate google sync program).
but it seems you have to exclude items from syncing which you have not activated yet: i don't use "Tasks" in my google account, and until i deactivated it in the exchange/AS settings, i got sync errors. but after deactivating "Tasks"-syncing i never got errors again...
It should be the the same procedure if other components are unused, because if you create a googlemail-mailbox, you'll get contacts too, but no tasks nor calendar. those have be created/activated manually in your google account.
thankS! that removing tasks made it work. although i cant seem to see my contacts. do u think i have it set up where it wont import the google contacts for any reason?
THis may be obvious, but under activesync, make sure that you have Contacts checked off..I don't know if they are all enabled by default
yes that one is selected. i have a lot of contacts that i dont want to manually set up again please let me know if anyone has had this problem and resolved it or thinks they can help me.
but so far i really like this phone!
UPDATE: restarted phone and works even better now! ALL my contacts and now I have 3G instead of H

Problems: Google Exchange Server (Activesync)

Hey guys, since a few days I have massive problems with syncing my device with google (contacts, calendar, emails). I used activesync with the snyc settings to m.google.com and suddenly it tries to sync always the entire content from new, every time stating that there are changes done on the server side which requires entire resync. does anybody have the same issues and a solution to that?
I could never get it working right. I use goosync (payservice).
I use this for contacts and calendar but couldn't get the email portion to work reliably. I use IMAP for gmail.
mine syncs fine.

same, works perfectly for me.
Although i only use google for calender and e-mail, i use dashwire to back up my contacts.
You have probably already tried it, but have you disabled all but one and checked it to see if you still have the same issue?
If it works properly with just e-mail for example, then add in calender and try it again. If it works then add contacts back in or if it breaks remove calender and try contacts instead.
Might help you track down whats causing the issue.
Just an idea.
Mine syncs fine as well. At first I had problems with syncing because I never set up a Calendar or Contacts with Google, so I unchecked everything except Mail. Try that.

Has anyone else noticed that they can't sync Google Gmail via Activesync over the past few days? At first I thought it was just me but soon came to find that the "Error Synchronization" message was being displayed on other Windows phones.
The official error code is 0x8600050c (Communications Error) and in looking over at Google Mobile's Help Forum, there are a few solutions available.
The first suggestion is to delete the current Exchange Server relationship and re-create it. Another solution suggests to un-check the email option in Activesync, reboot the phone, re-check the email option and sync. The latter seems to have the most success.
We couldn't find anything official from Google on the cause of these errors or of a "official" solution. If we hear of anything we'll pass it on.
you dont have tasks selected do you?
google sync is not up to snuff as it currently stands.
having tried it, doing this over & over:

Yes I agree, but to Google's defense, they say this is in Beta, but we are spoiled with great Google products so we are expecting too much. I do wish they would put more effort to it though, it has been like this since November when I tried it and I haven't seen anything improved in 3-4 months.

Oh don't think I am bagging google & all their great products & freebies.
But it just seem they set expectations so high, that they use the excuse of "beta" forever before releasing anything (witness gmail was an invite forever!).
I'm just spoiled!

I had the same problem a few days ago. I deleted the Exchange Server relationship and re-created it, and it's worked fine since. I've had similar problems periodically in the past - I chalk it up to it being a free service.
I got google sync to work, just got my touch pro2 on sunday. works with my main google calendar, saw a user around here recommend ActiveGCSync for additional google calendars, will try that tonight. The only problem I had is i initially synced all my gmail contacts to my phone (most without names or phone numbers), so then I unchecked 'contacts' thinking it would take them out, but instead it removed ALL the contacts from my phone But now all my phone contacts are backed up in my gmail I guess I will have to clean up the mess manually and sync them back up...
I spent a good part of my day so far editing all my gmail contacts and merging duplicates and the last tihng I did was set up a bunch of new 'groups' under the contacts in gmail. I was hoping that after I sync'd back up that I would be able to use the google created contact groups as a means of filtering my contact list, but this seems not to be the case.
From searching around here I ran across a program called 'Seven' and others, which I will explore if there isn't another way. But I was hoping someone could give me some ideas other than individually editing the "Category" of each contact, which seems to be the field which it looks at for "Filter" under the menu soft key.
Thanks
I use Seven Beta to sync all my mail accs. On creation gives me the option for sync of contacts and calendar as well. Everything works great.

Do you sync google contacts that you have put into groups, and then can you use the TouchFlo contact list to filter them by those groups?

Multiple Exchange servers

Hi,
I'll be receiving my new toy next week and after being a HD2 user and growing tired of winmo I was hoping to have multiple exchange server support on the Desire.
According to android this is possible from 2.0.
However it seems HTC has disabled the function and only allows 1 exchange server to be entered.
My main reason for this setup would be to have my work e-mail and my google account ( mail/contact/calendar ) simultaniously on the phone.
Anybody got an idea how to get this working?
Perhaps a different app than the HTC mail application?
Any hints/tips would be appreciated
re: multiple Exchange server support
dirk07,
As far as I can see, there is no option for setting up more than one Exchange server in the Desire. As soon as you set up one Exchange account, when you try to add another account, "Exchange" is no longer in the list of options. However, you *can* have both Exchange and Gmail and numerous other mail accounts set up at the same time, which sounds like it would work for you. You normally would not access your Google account as an Exchange server, would you?
John
True..
However the reason I want to sync my gmail with exchange is cause I also need my contacts and calendar from them..
the work e-mail would need to be exchange as it is the only way I can reach it .. ( no imap/pop access )
Would it be possilbe when disableing sense?
or use something else to sync contacts/calendar?
Your contacts and calendar will come over automatically from your Google account (when you set up the phone, you provide your Google account details). You don't need anything related to Exchange to make your Google stuff synch - that is built into Android. I have a setup just like you, my work email comes across via Exchange, and the Google stuff comes across as well (contacts/calendar/mail) via the Google account setup on the phone.
John
Syncing contacts with more than one source is always a bad idea. I tried this on WinMo with exchange and windows live and found a couple of issues which you are likely to run into with exchange/gmail sync. They are:
1) Exchange sees the entries from live as unique, different entries resulting in duplicate contacts.
2) If you delete an entry from one source, it gets 'revived' when next sync with the other source.
There may be fixes for these issues now but I gave up on it long ago and use my exchange contacts folder as the source of truth.
Im pretty sure you would have experienced these problems before... just adding my 2p
Edit: forgot to mention - without sense, I don't even think you can sync contacts?? Anyone confirm?
@bcmobile
well i would only be syncing mail from one source and mail/contacts/calendar from another
I allready make a point of only keeping my contacts/calendar on one list so I dont get duplicates etc..
@jstegeman
I hope this works If google mail/contacts/calendar syncs by default I indeed would be able to add work mail as my one exchange source..
Guess I wont be able to test untill friday
you can definately have both setup i.e. exchange / gmail as i have. I only have contacts in exchange though. I have also setup gmail so can see emails from there also.
OK guys i thought i would summarise my battle with the energy ROM and activesync/sense 2.5 for my hd2
Previous i had o2 Uk's stock rom, it was ok, but my main mod was to pull email, contacts and calendar off my exchange server and sync the calendar and contacts with my google account through activesync. I used the EnableNonLocalCrossPolination method (ENLCP)to do this.
When i install this ROM i had one problem, the registry key ENLCP was not there. So i entered it and attempted the same trick. However sense would not let me add another activesync account.
Firstly i wiped the phone, then i went in and pair my phone with activesync on my pc. This would enable the ENLCP reg key that i was looking for. I then disconnected the phone, checked the ENLCP reg key on the phone, set it to 1, and then deleted the PC active sync profile on the phone and pc.
After another soft reset i disable sense from the home screen. Another soft reset.
On the next boot i enter the options for googles exchange server (m.google.com) and only ticked the contacts. These sync'd ok. I think enter microsofts email client and enter the 2nd exchange server. Here i only set it to sync my email. I then tested both exchange servers in activesync. They worked!
So i enabled calendar and contacts on both exchange servers and only email on one of them. This again sync'd great. I re-enalbed sense and did another soft reset for good measure.
Sense picked up the email exchange server, but not the google one! Great! Now i add the googlemail email as an imap account through sense and i am done.
Hopefully this helps someone as i have initially struggled with this ROM.

[Q] Syncing Problems

Hey guys, I have tried taking care of my problem with sync'ing. I've searched the forums here on XDA, and searched Google. But I want to start using XDAndroid 2.2 regularly and I am having some problems with sync'ing.
I have three e-mail addresses from different domains. Do i need to sync all of these? or do I only need to sync the address that my android account is set up on on my phone? Also, It said I needed to enable Google Sync from my settings. Which I have been searching, and cannot find.. I feel like such a noob and once someone tells me, I'll do a big facepalm.
Please help me.

Do I just have to enable IMAP or POP3?

No, it is not like syncing with winmo, you only have to sync your phone with your google account....it syncs more than email
its the 7th option down under settings
are you using a current build?
I don't think I gave you enough information. I'm wanting to switch over to android. I'm currently using the latest build of the Energy ROM (SenCity style). The only reason I'm not using andriod is that I dont know how to send my contacts from Windows into the Android build.
I've been told that Google Sync does it. I was trying to enable it from my gmail account. Where do I go to get to the settings you were referring to?
Sorry about the confusion. the help is much appreciated! thanks
So if your contacts aren't already sync'd with your GMail account from WinMo, the initial sync will knock them out.
Setup PIM Backup or something similar so you can backup all your contacts. Then setup your GMail account in your Exchange settings for WinMo - so you go to Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Comm Manager -> MS Direct Push - from there you enter your GMail settings. m.google.com for the server, be sure to use ssl. I'm not positive if it does knock out your existing contacts, but if it does after you setup the server, import your contacts back from PIM Backup or whatever you used to backup your contacts, run another sync in ActiveSync (not with your computer, with GMail) - you should now have all your contacts in GMail under "My Contacts" - then you can just sync in Android. Easy.
Yeah I have all of that set up on my phone, It just says sync error.
I thought I would have to enable something in my gmail account on my computer for the sync to go through?

Are you getting the sync error in Android or WinMo? I'm going to assume WinMo.
When you setup the exchange server, ONLY check email & contacts. You can sync the calendar, but I found if you just setup your gmail account without ever visiting your calendar, the sync will fail. Other than that, I don't think there's anything to enable assuming you're using the correct settings... Always make sure to put in the entire email address, w/the @gmail.com @ the end.
I was getting the error in WinMo. Sorry about being so unclear! woops.
Hazzah! I disabled Calendars and Tasks. and now Contacts are currently being sync'd! woo! I wanted Calendars and Tasks to sync because Univ. of South Florida uses Google Apps and I had my calendar on my phone. Everyone who has android phones, just one touch and all of their calendar and schedule is on their phone. I'll just do this then haha.
Anyways, as soon as I log into Android with my gmail account will the contacts be there? Or I need to enable a sync through there? (I've had midterms this week and tonight ill be able to finally sit down and play with this).
Really Appreciate the help guys!
Edit: it is syncing but it is doing so at like one contact per 5 minutes. Maybe I need to go to an empty field to get decent reception with TMO. sigh

Hrm that seems odd to me. All my 100+ contacts sync in about a minute, on my cell radio's connection.
Tasks will never sync (I believe...) but Calendar can sync assuming you have used it on your GMail account. I'm pretty sure they mention this on the Google Sync help page
Easiest way in Android is to just setup the account in "Accounts & Sync".
If you're using an exchange account perhaps. Just sync your contacts with that account, then in android have it sync contacts.
That how I migrated from WinMo to XDANDROID. The only thing I use my gmail account for is the marketplace.
Currently, I have my contacts in my gmail account (i checked)
I booted up Android and went to Settings --> Accounts and Sync. I put in my email and password and then it asked for a username. I tried using just the begining of my email (khoyifish) and then I tried using my whole email ([email protected]) then it says retrieving account information and gets and error message. i enabled the two SSL options, because thats how the exchange works in WInMo. Any suggestions? thanks!
I'm frustrated, but I love android!
Edit: I let the WInMo Exchange run in the background, so I didnt have to worry about it taking a long time haha

May want to remove your actual email as web spiders can crawl these pages...
anyhoo, that's definitely not right. I don't know what would cause it to skip that page either... I don't know if the connection would have anything to do with it.
Also, the exchange server for GMail is m.google.com. But that shouldn't matter on Android, it should let you choose Google... Hmmmmm. Delete (move, rename) your data.img and start fresh. Cuz that's odd.

Exchange Email on Jelly Bean 4.1.1

I'm having trouble getting Push Email working in Jelly Bean 4.1.1 without Auto Sync on.
With ICS (and all previous versions of Android 2.2 and 2.3) I was able to still have my emails pushed to the phone without having Auto Sync enabled. For some reason it own't work in JB.
I don't want to have Auto Sync as i try to turn as much off as i can to save battery life.
Has anyone heard of something being changed on JB to not allow Push to work without Auto Sync.
Thanks in advance for any info provided.
I initially had the same problem. Here's what worked for me, no guarantee it will work for you. When setting up my account I cleared the default port setting and just left it blank. Then my work server set the proper number.
Been having the same issue.
Now trying your potential solution and will see.
Update:
This does, oddly, seem to have worked.

Nope. Back to non-functioning.

Seconded.
This worked. The battery on my Nexus S was drained in 5 hours of stand-by yesterday and the battery usage was 70% Exchange. Checked my work email via the pc and I had about 50 emails that didn't get to my phone.
Found this thread, went to my exchange settings and removed the "0" from the port setting, clicked save and voila, emails rolling in fine.
There is no way to make it work!!!
:crying::crying::crying:
I am desperated. A couple of days after installing JB 4.1.1 the automatic official update from Google, the Exchange email account suddenly gave up working. After deleting and recreating several times the account the email still could not be synchronized. I configure everything in automatic option but it does not work. I delete the port number and leave it blank but it does not work.
I always get the same error inside the Exchange application with emails previously synchronized, that the application cannot connect to the server but the server is up and running and the configuration is correct. When I delete the accound and recreate once more again and open Exchange app it remains long long time waiting for sync, but it never syncs.
Sometimes when trying to tweak the configuration I get the system message that the account is not found.
It drives me crazy. After trying everything explained above several times I finally succeed to synchronize by activating the general sync button in the main desktop applet (the one for Energy saving which has GPS, WiFi, screen light level, Sync and Bluetooth) and waiting for the system to ask me for reactivating the Security - Device Manager options to allow the security policy specified by the email server.
Do I have to set always the general sync button on?. It will drain the battery, won't it?. Why suddenly it looses the connection and I have to make all this mess to recoup the connection to Exchange server and sync again my corporate email?

I have done the same with no luck either.
I currently have the trial version of Touchdown installed to use for syncing in the meantime, but that's not what I want.
Yes, the sync button will drain battery, and I have gotten Exchange to work with that turned on. I want my simple push email to always function regardless of the system background data sync being on or off - like it used to.

By now it's still working fine. Let's cross fingers. But always with Sync button on. My conclusion is that also we must be careful with the device manager option the security settings. It allows Exchange to access system security settings. If not, the system perhaps blocks the synchronization. Battery does not look to drain much faster than before with Sync button off.
Exchange Email on Jelly Bean 4.1.1 - Waiting for Sync forever
today I got my new galaxy nexus phone with JB 4.1.1 and I am facing the same issue as mentioned by other members. I have tried the following and none of them have worked so far
I am able to connect to my exchange server but its the "waiting for sync" that's not working
1 - removing and recreating my corporate email account more than once
2 - removed the PORT and let the app set it for me didn't work
3 - went to settings and did sync from there for my account didnt work
4 - enabled auto sync and that didn't work
I'm not sure everyone is understanding the proper use of Syncing. Basically yes your account has to have Sync on. The other option is only the Method it will use. For example if you choose "Automatic (Push)" that just means that when your work server gets an email it will push it to your phone (i.e. your phone doesnt check at all... it waits for communication from the server which is the best battery saving sync option). So if you turn Sync completely off your phone will no longer receive the push emails (you can turn sync off on all other accounts).
Removing the port will likely not do anything. It will either just use the default (443) or not use one and it wont work at all. As an example I have a hotmail calendar that I share with my girlfriend (we keep our social stuff in it). When I create the account I choose not to sync anything but the calendar and set it to "Automatic (Push)". This means that my phone should almost never use battery on that account until one of us adds something to it.
If it worked in ICS it was likely a bug that was fixed in JB. When you turn Sync off it means no syncing will happen at all (push or otherwise)
My problem with exchange is.
Setting up configuration = all ok
Server verifies = all ok
But my company requires a security verification through pin. In ICS it automatically made that security option available.
In JB I'm stuck in exchange setup (name, signature, ...)
Synchronizing loop

Same issue here.. It just doesnt show the menu to activate PIN and the email doesnt sync... Need help!!!
Can you not just go ahead and set a PIN before trying to Sync? If its already there the phone wont ask you to do it
any fix for this Jelly Bean bug? It just waiting for the sync.
I use 3 separate exchange accounts and dont have this bug at all. I'm not even really sure what it is. Each time I add my Exchange account right after I click "Activate" I get a little notification that says I need to update my security and I put in my PIN and away I go
I had the same error because of limited internal storage. This is what happened:
1. After update to the new OS, all the apps automatically downloaded and installed on the internal storage.
Note: You may want to check your internal storage first to make sure that you have the same issue [Settings->System Settings->Storage].
2. Sometime after that my email stopped syncing.
3. I did reboots and add/delete many time, but still got the "waiting to sync" message.
What worked !
1. Settings -> Manage apps ->Downloaded (scroll left).
2. Click on individual apps and then click "Move to USB storage".
Once space was freed on the internal storage, everything started working.

Nexus S runnning 4.1.1 stock
This worked for me:
remove port in the incomming server setting
set update to "push"
enable the SYNC button
I used to manualy sync, whenever i needed to access my cooperate mail.
Good luck!
I've tried the stock exchange email app a few times and found it to be overall fairly good. however until I can have the inbox show mail from all folders then it's useless as a mobile email client. I cant be going into each folder (I have 30ish separate email folders with rules on exchange that automatically puts mail from x client into x folder)
I this something that can be done or am I missing a trick. also having to go into each folder and set it's sync options individually is a bind. I'd really love to use the stock client as it looks and behaves far better than (touchdown) but without a unified inbox from all the email folders it's a no no.
Other than that the exchange client works perfectly for me on 4.1.1 (AOKP)
Hi all.
Same issue as others and bk13 After the JB update, Exchange stopped working, as well as Hotmail connection.
I can get the set up done like another here, it is confirmed, but gets stuck at Waiting for Sync endless circle. It is set up to automatic (push) and sync email.
I tried the leave port blank, and it filled in with the 443 default port.
Please help.
I can't get the hotmail to work either, and I see from other forums, it is an issue. what a pain.
Found this on another forum and it work for me. I will see if it will let me set up my Hotmail account now.
It worked for my Hotmail account also. I had to go back and re-check the Auto Data Sync but it worked. Finally, back to normal...
I've found a solution here. Credit goes to Keith Hurst.
JellyBean 4.1.1 Sync | AVForums.com - UK Onlineolution:
Settings --> Data Usage --> Menu --> and check Auto Sync Data
Try setting up Exchange account again and you'll see the prompt to activate a Device Administrator this time.
Thanks,
no connection
when I add my exchange account with the correct settings I do not get a connection?
when I use the same credentials on a Samsung Galaxy SII or SIII instead of my own Samsung Galaxy Nexus it works fine???
I'm Runing JB (4.1.1) and my @work exchange account version = Exchange 2010 SP2 rollup 4

Emoze push mail for ICS

I'm having trouble getting Push Email working in Jelly Bean 4.1.1 without Auto Sync on.
With ICS (and all previous versions of Android 2.2 and 2.3) I was able to still have my emails pushed to the phone without having Auto Sync enabled. For some reason it own't work in JB.
I don't want to have Auto Sync as i try to turn as much off as i can to save battery life.
Has anyone heard of something being changed on JB to not allow Push to work without Auto Sync.
Thanks in advance for any info provided.

I had similar issues with weird behavior of the push and sync and I installed Emoze Push client which gives me the ability to push any type of email ,obviously Exchange and IMAP but even POP3 which is very limited email protocol.
I've done benchmarks with the stock ICS email client and with several third party clients like Touchdown, Moxier, K9 and I find that Emoze has the advantage in almost every aspect.
Push notification is stable and fast ,less than 60 sec.
Battery consumption is low ,I’m able to work in push mode without charging for 22 hours.
I’m quite a heavy email user so it was kind of a surprise to me because I used to have 6-8 hours max with only one account working in push.
I have 5 email accounts which is about 100-200 email per day so no kidding ,this one really improved my life ,I’m less paranoid about my battery.
Other features which are quit useful are the security options that allows you to find the device location by SMS or email
and also to remote wipe or block by SMS.
This is cool because you don’t need PC connected to the internet to get the job done ,you can simply send SMS to your phone number to activate the security process.
