Returned MDA Pro for Repairs - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hi,
Today I returned to the T-mobile shop. I deliverd my dutch MDA Pro for Repairs.
I have the following complains:
- Battery dies at 54%. Very anoying.
- Calls are not clear, sometimes I cant understand anything someone say. I have a bad reception.
- Device is slow. You all know it.
Befor I returned my device, I took out my SIMcard, Memorycard and Stylus. I flash the latest dutch t-mobile rom (1.30.233) to my device and gave it a hard-reset.
The woman at the story told me I should receive a call in 10 workingdays to pick up my device. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Sharky,
IMHO Your Uni is ok. Battery issue was described many times over the forum and its connected to wornout battery. (In Your case Youll should get new battery after a repair so its good point)
Bad reception is propably because old radio rom - have You tried to upgrade it?
Slowness is a personal matter - mine is sometimes slow also but it depends on soo many elements thats its hard to define what precisely is slow.
Anyway how will You survive whitout Your Uni - its a question ;-)
best ,
Piotr

I know I can't. I just hope nothing goes wrong with my device, at least before any of the clamshell PDAs start to roll out. I would hate to buy another Universal, just to see a new version the next month.

BTW wats ur result after the upgrade did it solved ne of the problem .

MDA Pro turns off all the time Help....

Hi all, i have the mda pro (t-mobile UK) Had tried lots of roms before but in the end i stuck with the latest official t-mobile rom & radio.
In the last few weeks i every time i try to connect with gprs the signal goes, other times the phone just goes dead, wont reboot properly for a few try's( gets to the windows mobile logo then dead again.
After a few try's it will boot up, but it turns off alot i mean just about every time i open up the phone. I thought maybe the battery but when i get it to boot up its fine %70 battery ect ect.
Its still under warrenty and is actual being sent back tomorrow for repair but i have a feeling they will just reflash and send it back as the problem is random.
Anybody any ideas whats wrong? did a hard reset and problem if anything is worse now and seems to be getting worse everyday. Ofcourse i dont know when the phone has went belly up as its closed over when not in use.
I really would like a replacment phone but as i said i think they will reflash and send back. I have to keep sim, battery ect.ect.
Info anyone.
With those symptoms my first thought would be a faulty battery. If i were you, I would insist on returning the battery for replacement as well.
Are Battery's covered under the first years guarantee?
Iam almost sure its the battery also, but the battery holds fine after it reboots, Having said that it never lasts anywhere near 24hrs and never has.

TyTN (HTC Hermes 200) IMEI Wizard

Hi All,
I am interested in writing a new IMEI Update Wizard for the HTC Hermes 200 product line. Some of you might remember me from last year, when I undertook a similar project for my HTC Wizard (imate kjam brand).
Well, regretfully last week, my HTC Wizard's USB port "died"...I found out about it as I plugged in the USB cable to charge the battery and, lo and behold, no juice was flowing. A closer look showed a very "flotational" USB port, which upon further inspection, came totally loose. Without any way to re-charge the Wizard, or connect to it from my PC, the device became useless. Luckily I had two spare batteries so I was still connected while waiting for the new Hermes to arrive.
Its now been just a couple days since I came back to Turkey, and a-ha-ha, now its taken them barely 3 days to shut the phone down. Oh joy Last time at least it took a couple months before they did anything about it, and they were kind enough to send a courtesy SMS.
So anyways...without boring you with the backstory any longer. Please feel free to PM me, or reply directly to this thread, if you are interested in contributing to the development of the new IMEI Update Wizard. Like the previous one it will be released as a freeware tool (and without source to protect the anonymity of the people who help build it).
Also, if any fellow Turks browsing this forum have any useful information on how to legally register the phone with the Turkish authorities, I'm up for that information also. It took me a month to build the IMEI Update Wizard last time round...as long as the bureaucracy and response times aren't totally inane (one would hope they have improved over the course of the past year), I might just register the phone for a change. A month is a long time and a lot of sweat and I'm definitely feeling lazier this time
Take care people!
cool, i was just tryin 2 use your old tool 2 on my hermes (M3100) and couldnt do it i gues thats cuz it doesnt work on it . Sorry that i cant help as u can probs tell. Good Luck
Good luck on your work!
I'm still waiting for your new IMEI Wizard for Hermes since your last posting. Hopefully, you're still working on and about to finish sooner or later. Just remember we xda-developers on your back. Cheers!

sending back to get fixed need advice on OS version

hi im gonna send my phone back because the call/answer button doesnt work very well, i have flashed the phone to original htc but on the new windows mobile 6, i have downgraded the ipl and spl so i dont have olipro. Just wanted to know if its fine to send back phone on the new os or is it prefered if it was back on wm5 instead of 6?
i dont want them complaining its my fault for the button not working well, but i do know its hardware related but you know how companies will squirm out of paying to fix their problem.
Any advice would be grateful.
Kidd
I've seen many comments in many threads about returning phones under warranty and the consensus is that IPL/SPL or ROM probably doesn't matter. Nobody seems to notice....
I bricked my 8525 a couple of months ago while out in Los Altos, CA.
Took it into the AT&T dealership near Stanford. They exchanged it no questions asked. They basically looked it over to see if it had been dropped (looking for deep scratches), and checked the fluid indicator near the battery to ensure it had not gotten wet.
I don't think they care what version the phone is running, but I'm not 100% positive.
if ur phone is htc branded then yes it is okay as u are sending it back with a official htc rom. if its another then send it back with that carriers rom. better safe the sorry.
EDIT: i see u have a htc tytn so yes dont worrry about it as long as spl and ipl are the same as original.
thanks for the advice, hopefully the wont complain about the little scratches, im abit clumsy this past few weeks. Cheers all

sometime NO GSM and sometime will detect a radio rom.

why my dopod 838pro sometime it cannot detect a radio rom and show a NO GSM, but if detect it a radio rom and it will hang about and half hours and reset will turn back to NO GSM, is hardware or software prob, anyone can give me a solution?
Provide more information - OS version and Radio version. Its probably a hardware problem but you may try to reflash to a manufacturer's shipped version and retest.
I had the same problem basically. Phone would freeze up, get repeated NO GSM messages, drop the radio even when it finds it after several minutes of use. I did buy the phone off eBay used and it did freezeup in WM5 ALOT.
I took the phone apart and cleaned all the contacts - same problems. Reflashed manufacturer's rom again and it took. Before it sometimes would hang up - looking for GSM radio. Took it apart again FULLY and put everything back together. It is now working for the past week. No freezeups or drops. Seems to always find GSM on bootup.
last time using a official rom wm6 also freeze up, then flash it to manila2d rom, it also got a same prob, try reflash a radio rom, but always get stuck at 6%, but try and try then 100% done, but also same prob.
so ur solution is try Reflashed manufacturer's rom again?
Thats what I did but the flash alone didn't fix the problem. I don't think a rom flash will bring your phone back but you may get lucky. I had to open it up and clean and reposition things. For some reason it worked. I still get screen fade to white and the directional pad on the front sometimes doesn't work - you move the scroll wheel and it will work again. Might have to replace the dPad circuit board or flex cable. The HERMES seems to have MAJOR problems with quality control and the radios. I personally think the battery presses against a backing plate which rests directly against the chipsets. The silver plate behind the battery does flex and it shouldn't. It probably should be a little thicker to prevent flexing. The heat from charging and the pressure from the battery I think causes the radios to fail. Bad soldering also may be a problem but any pressure on a motherboard and chipsets isn't a good thing. Also screws that are too tight also may contribute to the problem.
My phone has been working for about a week. Prior to that it was getting constant NO GSM errors on bootup and dropped calls. Today the phone was out of the house for the first time in weeks and it worked without any problems - no freezes (did a lot before) and no dropped radio. It has been sitting on my desk for two weeks without any problem. Will try it a few more days and see.
herm200 no GSM
Hi! I have read all thread about no GSM from here.
I have already do many many tests, tried to flash any radio rom extracted, hard reset, mtty with set 1e 1... I have already dissasemble and reassemble it
but no one fix the problem No GSM.
I have the same probleme, sometime no gsm and sometime ok.
So please, if anyone find everything which can fix this problem please post it!
Sorry for my english!
Thanks a lot for all jobs and helps.
Hello all, my hermes had this problem too!
Sometime it works, " 1.56.70.11" and sometime no! "NO GSM"
i have done about twenty flash thinking it will resolve this problem...
After reading a topic on this problem, i have understand it was an hardware problem. Something unsolde.
I have buy "double face scotch", i have disasemble the phone completely.
And on every chip and on the "battery"( little round and flat) i have put a little piece of scotch. it will do a pression on every chip to keep chip connected on the motherboard.
From this moment, the phone has never freeze, no more "no gsm" message!
ALL IS GOOD
Sorry for my poor english.
Many things can affect the radio
Try this...
Un plug your batt... insert a big piece of aluminium under the batt over the gsm chip... it wil not work properly... Magnetic issues... the batt do this things too i prove it on a Nokia... the batt without the stick = radio problem no signal...
Abd here i got the same trouble no gsm sometimes i realized that has been a lot flashes but noup, was a dialer that makes this issues 3G phone canvas,.... back to touch dialer 3G or 2G and its good now... think the CPROG and some other is not so compatible.
Desperately please help me, my Dopod 838 Pro has No GSM!
hey dude try another rom... the roms with HTC phonecanvas 2g or 3g do this issues on my hermes dunno why... thats th reason i dont cook anymore phoncanvas on my roms.
Update Radio ROM to 1.47
I had same problem just recently, and the recommendation that I got was update your Radio ROM ONLY...I upgrade to Radio 1.47 as all the time I was loosing service connection as well as No GSM...after this, my Hermes took live again.
I had 1.16 Radio...!!! and that issue came up after upgrading to one of the so many cooked ROM...I don't remember which one...
Check this link for more info, it saved my life!!!

Artemis turns off during phone call

Hi,
my Artemis turns off every now and then and I'm getting a bit pissed off by the phone. Because it happens exspecially when I'm talking to someone. The error occurred first about two weeks ago and i tried to fix wit an hard reset, but that didn't worked out. I also don't think it has anything to do with the battery, since it also turns off while being connected to the charger.
If anyone knows help, I would be grateful.
i had the same problem and the solution is ......
a new battery
My XDA Orbit is doing the same thing - randomly switching off when in use (either phone call or browsing the web). Its being doing this for over the last two to three weeks and I, too, am getting pissed off with it. My Orbit is over two years old so I'm suspecting the battery although the battery meter states everything is OK. I've just purchase a new battery on-line and, when I receive, I'll let you know if it cures the resetting issue.
Alistair
thanx, that is at least a problem with an easy solution.
@ ajmcfarlane: thx, I'll wait for your post.
Received battery on Saturday and early indications look as though it has cured the problem of the phone resetting. If anything changes, I'll keep you posted.
Cheers, Alistair
great, I'll order a battery right away
i also got same problem in my p3300 so did changing battry really solvd problms?
It will cure it.
awesome.. i think most of us have purchase this amazing handset more or less the same time..
all of our devices loosing out on batt.... no bad..
can any one please update the price of a new battery ?
i am in india now.. will be going to singapore this month end to watch the formula 1.. are there any options to buy it in singapore to save some money on it ??
how much is the new batt ??
I have over 200 of these devices in their various guises, and I can tell you that this is a very common problem. If you are lucky you only need change the battery and the device will be fine. If that does not improve matters then good luck as I am yet to find a solution when the problem is not simply the battery. At the moment my best effort is to flash the device with an upto date original ROM and change the battery. It seems to help but I can't say it fixes them as I have not monitored how the reflashed devices perform yet. I will post when I have used the reflashed devices for a few months and see how they go on

Hi radcarash,
do you have any findings? I got the same issue with one Artemis, and it seams the battery change doesn't help at all. I'm just wondering if you found already another solution to cure this world wide problem.
cheers,
gigib
