Is accessing the backup battery an easy task? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

My backup battery got disconnected (i guess) after a slight fall... I'm a bit afraid of opening my pda, could someone tell me if accessing the backup battery is hard on the BA?
thanks...

EDIT: Sorry, thought it was another model. :-( Don't know with the BA

Hum, that's strange... it showed up again...
I'm using this rom:
BA_TMNL_14200_119_11300_Ship.exe

I found on my other PPCs the backup battery meter would disappear then just show up again.

Hard reset alternative?

Ive read the wiki properly and search the net thoroughly, and none provide a solution, and this is my last hope.
I cant hard reset my ba, you know the one which enters a screen with the line of word with selection of YES or NO. i cannot excute the selection or exit from that screen other than actually pressing reset again using the stylus, seems to be, my MAIL button is not functioning or broken.
is there other alternative?
Hello. I´ve the same problem than you. I can´t push the mail button to make hard reset. is There any way to do it. have you obtained it??
Thanks
probably via bootloader and mtty;
never played with Blue Angel, but, assuming there's a different key for bootloader mode; go into the BL and use mtty to type in "task 28"
maybe its a stupid suggestion but you can remove main battery and wait untill backup battery drain.... Im not sure how long will that take.
Im suggesting this bcoz few days ago when I intend to buy my 9090 it came with empty backup battery (long time in the box) and every time I removed main battery it resseted to factory settings until I charged it fully.
Guess that that is the same as hard reset, only problem is that Im not sure how long will it take to drain backup battery but if that is the only solution then theres nothing to lose.

Orrr... just use task 28 from the bootloader
Hello. Thanks for your answer. I do it with task 28. Now I'm going to try to downgrade from wm6 to wm2003 to see if my buttons become to work properly.
Thanks.

Xda Orbit Clock & Date problem

Hello
For last few weeks I experience very odd problem witch my clock and date in my Xda Orbit. Each time I change the battery (I use two batteries interchangeably) the clock and date reset to the factory defaults 12:00, 24 October 2006. However all other settings remain unchanged, I mean alarm, appointments etc.
I tried to perform hard reset but with no success.
I'm just wondering if there is any other battery which keeps clock and date alive.
Please if anyone have an idea or suggestion how to sort it out I would really appreciate.
Tahnks

I just noticed that there is a post regarding the same problem. Sorry
Hi,
I don't have a solution for you. But I can recommend this tool:
SP Time Sync
http://www.spdialer.com/download/sptimesync23ce5_arm.zip
Have fun
Are you ever charging the battery whilst it is in the device? Or only separately in a battery only charger?
There is an internal battery, you can see it in the pictures in the Artemis Inside pdf file.
I have a feeling that battery is for the GPS unit's NVRAM to store almanac data and is not accessable to the rest of the device.
I think you will find this true in all artemis devices, could someone else try?
I have a feeling that the timekeeping is all in software and so when power is lost so is the time/date...
The device has flash-ram, why would you need a battery to keep the Almanac data?
I just took my battery off for 20 minutes and the clock was fine.
Sorry if I was wrong... I just assumed it would be nvram for the gps unit...
No need to say sorry chap, it is not a contest to say who is right or wrong or anything! I could be wrong, I really can not be sure.
Perhaps the OP should try charging his phone today to see!
Well I've also took the battery out and left it about 15 mins and it is 7 mins out of date...
If I leave it for an hour i think it will revert back to the factory date...
Orbit battery problem
One of my friend had the same clock resetting problem with his Orbit , he changed the internal battery to new one, it is working fine now.
Please try after changing the internal battery, it may solve the problem to you as well.
Does anyone know what type it is? A non-rechargeable button cell type thing?
mine does this aswell. it's annoying but it's easy to change back. if the battery is a non rechargable cell and if it can be changed for a chargeable one will the phone charge it?
Hi there all,
Seems that this post got some responses!
I posted up a few weeks ago about this issue (no responses though!) and then a few days later another poster did the same!
Now this post was put up and it seems as though it's 'common' but not widespread. Sounds asa though it is the internal battery thats causing the issue. I didn't know there was actually one inside but hey..!
Just off to a meeting now - will check back later and on subsequent days to this thread if theres any more things to try or fix etc...
cheers!

help Please! Blue Angel hard reset when the battery out.

i tried to open my Blue Angel's rear cover, did not do anything and put it back. then my pda lost everything like hard reset every time when i change the battery. anybody can tell me how to resolve it.
thanks.
andy
hmm... let me guess you're using WM2003?
that's because your backup battery is failing.
try to upgrade to WM6 to solve that issue.
or you could buy and install a new backup battery.
hope it helps.

yes, i am using wm2003.but the backup battery shows 100%.
yup. we all have our batteries at 100%,
if it is on, it charges itself from the battery we put.
but our unit is old and for sure the backup battery is unpredictable.
there are only two ways you could resolve this problem.
1.) Buy and replace the backup battery
or
2.) Upgrade to WM5 or WM6... (you wont be dissapointed)
Thanks again.
I already upgraded my Rx66 to wm6 (using Helmi's ROM)last night. but the bluetooth cannot pair with me bluetooth earphone. anybody have solutions for this kind of problem? i checked the forum long time, but did not find anything.
thanks.

Phone won't start when shut down with low battery

Hello,
I think I have a problem with my Tytn (WM6):
I had to write a important test today and had to shut off the phone.
But after the test it only boots to the green Windows-Screen and hangs up there.
This happened some time ago too, and I lost all my sms and personal data.
The common ground is, that the battery level was very low, bot times.
I tried searching the forums, but I haven't found a solution for my problem.
I hope anyone can help me.
PS: It doesn't help to charge the phone, only a hard-reset helped last time.
PPS: Sorry for my broken english.
use MTTY to check for bad blocks.... YOu may have to do a hard reset though.. Look for some backup software. I loike spb backup (commercial) or theres sprite backup (freeware) which you should find if you search the forum. This will allow you to backup contacts and messages at least.... Cheers..
I checked with mtty. There are no bad blocks (just a few switched, but I think thats normal)
I backup my data with PIM-Backup, but that program doesn't backup my settings.
A hard reset is done... and I hope this never happen again.
You've had a Hard Reset that doesn't complete. Battery has nothing to do with it, AFAIK. I've had the same thing happen will on a call, installing a cab, answering an email. Phone locks up and never boots again or it reboots by itself and doesn't boot. I typically (as I am thsi morning) flash the AT&T ROM, HardSPL7 then the ROM of the moment. Most of the time that's worked for me, except with the latest Dvha79_ddt 213 build, where it did that to me twice.
I never had done a hard-reset before this error.
The phone just didn't want to start anymore.
I'm too dumb to flash HardSPL... My PC says every time that he can't get the informations from my phone.
This normally occurs when the battery is completely drained... although saying that I havn't seen this issue with the Hermes..
Just out of curiosity, when plugging in power does the led near the speaker flash red once?
if so allow the phone to charge for at least 10 minutes, the orange charge light should eventually come on.
also charging with the mains lead instead of usb can sometimes rectify the issue. the best thing to do is not let it get below 10%.. always works for me
Cheers
Steve
I remember that the red LED flashed one or more times after I plugged it in to charge.
The phone charges normal, and the battery is at 100% after a hard-reset. It just doesn't boot.
I don't use the usb-cable to charge.

Before dismantling to check connections, I'd try just a little strip of card between the casing and the battery on the opposite side to the battery contacts. The idea is to push the battery just a bit more firmly against the contacts. If this works then it suggests your battery is a little loose or the contacts need cleaned.
Mike
i already dismantled it nd checked all the connections..everything was firmly connected nd ok..after i put it together again it worked for a couple of days without any problems , then everything turned back to the way it was :S
sometimes...not always, nd thats wat sucks about it..u never know when its gonna turn off :S
i'll try the battery card thing nd get back to u though i doubt it cz i this was my initial thought.i checked the battery nd its firm in its place..the device is still brand new..no warranty though :S
