No-SIM MSN Messenger - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I recently upgraded by phone, but would like to use my XDA as a standard PDA. The SIM card was moved to the new phone, and now I cannot use MSN (only Internet Explorer over WiFi).
Is there any way to enable MSN to run on WiFi without having a SIM card installed?

Silly Question.
WiFi is independant of the Phone being on/off, so just Enable WiFi and find a Hot spot and connect to the interweb

*Sighs*
Connecting the WiFi isn't the problem. The WiFi runs perfectly, and data is transferred over Internet Explorer and Outlook. I can browse webpages, receive emails, but MSN Messenger refuses to work without the SIM card apparently.

Really,
Well thats really stupid, i wonder why that happens. odd.

You could register for one of the free pay as you go SIM card offers that are always on the go. Just put that in and you would be sorted.
Go here.
Probably quicker than trying to work out how to get it working without a SIM

How to get Windows Live to connect over Wifi?

I am using vp3gs 3.61 rom with windows live messenger version 10.6.0031.2600. no matter what I do it won't connect on my WPA-PSK enabled router. I can connect fine to the internet.
Any special setup I need to do to get it to work?
Thanks for any help.
EDIT
Could someone on ATT disable the phone and use WIFI only and see if you can connect to LIVE?
I am using 10.6.0031.1600(older than yours) but I am able to connect to live services using the wifi with WPA-PSK.
I am using my own cooked rom.
Search in all the forums I remember some people had the simillar issues and had some 'workarounds'
Sorry I do not really remember.
I too also had a problem with .2600, reverted to .1600 and all is good over wifi. By the way, I'm using WPA TKIP on my wifi.
Tried that one too and still get the "there was a problem signing you in to messenger" error after checking internet connectivity.
try these ideas.
1 ensure your wifi settings are to internet and not work
2 ensure you dnt have the ip address set up in exceptions (these ips are only for intranet)
3 turn off your phone entirely. soft reset your phone. check that wifi is still internet and not work.
4 turn on wifi only. check that u have normal internet access. emails and hotmail etc work ok. then open messenger and sign in.
5 if you have to, use wlm switch user command and relogin.
this should work. once u have run and got it working, you can turn your phone back on and it should continue to use wifi and not 3g

Still times out on checking internet connection.
I get email and internet fine. but no WLM.
I am using ATT. What should there be under Connections?
I have tried 2 My ISP and Media.net on My ISP it times out automatically, on Media.net it takes a while to time out.
Also did a hard reset to make sure that it wasnt anything I had installed. With the stock rom I still get the time out.
the proxy server u r using will b blocking that port.
I use telstra in australia, internet and push email works with proxy on, but wlm doesnt.
so i just turn off proxy and everything works except some of the telstra stuff which i dont want anyway.
proxy tends to give a garden firewall of their preferred content.
dunno how to deal with att, but suggest one of your connections should allow you to bypass the proxy styled firewall garden of att.
soz i dont have it to help u further, except to point u towards the proxy manager.
just to reiterate and emphasis the telstra proxy manager controls over rides and screws up 3g/next G connections AND my wifi.
only by turning this proxy manager off can i use wifi and 3g fully.
Thanks, there is a cab that disables the proxy on the att phone, so I disabled it, but that didnt help either.
Wlm 10.6.0031.2600
Hi, does anyone have the cab or installer for the latest WLM 10.6.0031.2600? Can someone post it or make it available for download? Thanks a million
Is anyone who has ATT able to use Windows Live Messenger?
Okay since WLM obviously doesnt work over wifi. How do you guys setup your outlook to get Hotmail?

Absolutely. I use it all the time. Mostly through 3G but sometimes through my home wireless network. Never had a problem.
Memnoch30, what version of WLM you using and do you have it set any special way in connections to use WIFI?
Well it seems I am not the only one having this problem, I got an interesting PM stating another person has the same problem as I do. If someone else could do me a favor, turn off the phone in comm manager, but keep wifi on. Can you still connect to Live???
Anyone? Thanks in advance
Hi
Just try to keep the Red button pressed ~3s (it will cancel the GPRS connection) then Messenger will use the wifi one (i do like that since i use pocket msn).

Doesn't work for me, all that does is close out Live messenger.
anything else I need to try?
It doesnt work even if I turn off GPRS and leave wifi only.

Overide GPRS to Use WiFi Always?

Is there a way to do this for the SX66? My internet no longer works since AT&T changed their networks. In order to get internet access again, I was told I needed a new phone *and* new SIM card. Can't afford a new phone right now, so...
I've been reading that there may be a program out there that can allow you to override your phone's settings so that it will *only* search and use WiFi. My phone always looks for GPRS, no matter what I do, so I have been without Internet for some time now.
Can anyone point in the right direction for the correct program for a BA?
Many thanks!
Debbie

I have the same problem. Tried to install different ROM`s but it seems that phone connectivity is gone. It is not able to connect to cellular network (searching connection forever) but BT and WIFI works fine as well as all other stuff. This is not an issue with location since I tried it in different places where other phones working fine and shows excelent signal.
Odd, my data connection suddenly quit yesterday as well (had the EVO series ROM loaded). I loaded on the new build from today and it worked for a few, but then stopped again.
Any ideas? I can make/receive phone calls, but the data connection is no longer responding.
nobody know ???
hmm, nobody know how to dissolve this problem or nobody care ??
just wondering what i can do with my phone - coz it is unuseless now.
As i read - i'm not only one with this troubles.

Just out of curosity what is shown in the "Access Point" under Connections/GPRS for your data settings?
try internet2.voicestream.com or epc.tmobile.com

windows live and emails wont update/work when roming

only just got my TP2 un branded, but using T-Mobile, i've had the contract for ages and have web wand walk plus on it, both messenger and emails worked on my TyTnII fine.
i have switched on roming and agreed to the "it will cost more" message, but it just wont connect, it just says my wireless reception is bad, even though its showing a H and i can stream youtube fine, surf the net received RSS feeds etc
i double checked roming is on, and compared the TP2 settings with my TyTnII settings and it all looks fine.
when i connect using a wireless router/AP i can receive emails, and use messenger, my wireless router connects thought a mobile broadband dongle, i put my t-mobile sim in itm and low and behold it worked,
ive re checked roming is on and it is in both messenger and emails
anythnig else to check?
anyone on T-Mobile UK got messenger and emails working whilst roming?
I have the same problem.
Unbranded mobile on t-mobile, no email, live when roaming.
Any ideas anyone?
Have you guys got the proxy enabled for TMob, if so, switch it off.
Never had an issue when I was in Florida.
thanks for that, i took out the tick for proxy server and it magically worked, and all other stuff still works fine
Yep, I had the same problem.
For some reason the Auto settings that the TP2 has for T-mob ticks the proxy check box.
When I was using my Voda sim and set it up for that it was fine.
It's strange that it only affected the hotmail sync though as eveything else worked fine. Weather, internet etc.

Issues with unlocked M8's on AT&T

I currently have two HTC M8's that i have activated on AT&T. They have worked flawlessly for a long time, but I do have one current lingering issue on both devices. As of now, I am unable to access most google services that run off of the google.com domain, but only when i am connected to LTE. This includes most acount syncing capabilities, using the play store, using google search, or even just accessing google.com in a browser. All the while i still retain full access to any other site/services. All of this functionality works just fine on HSPA+ and wifi. Also to make it even more complex, It only seems to be an issue when the phone is using LTE band 17, when using LTE band 2 it works just fine. To add one more bit of oddity to the situation, a tracert from the phone to google.com goes through just fine with a low ping.
Things i have done to remedy the situation/rule out a carrier issue:
New sim card.
My sim card will access the play store just fine on another AT&T phone.
Used a VPN for a different route.
Factory reset through recovery menu.
Tracert to google.com, play.google.com works fine.
Edit1: Just thought to try something else. Set up wireless hotspot on my phone and connected my laptop. All google websites work just fine through there and tracert shows same results.
Sent in a ticket to HTC about it and they said they forwarded it to their engineers and i should be getting a call in a week with "something".
Im kind of at a loss and im open to any suggestions or ideas.
