enjoy my friends..
A "real" version of WM2003, I bet O2 wont follow suit.
Yeah it is the final.. its very nice i installed it and its way faster and doesnt crash.. very pleased.. although the .exe file sucks and wouldnt install so i just loaded it onto a sd card and used the bootloader to get it on the pda..
great.... this is what i've been waiting for... for months.... the dream finally come true... hehehehehehehe....
Can I install this on an asian version?
Will it force-upgrade my radio stack?
I presume this is for US market? So it will be on 1900.
Its shown on the website that it can be "Auto band selection when traveling overseas", so does I can use the 900/1800 band when in asia and uk?
the other thing, can I just put out the .nb1 file from this exe installer and then replace with the one inside the "cooked" rom? will it cause error?
yes you can... extract the .exe file using Winzip or Winrar
take the Nk.nbf file, use XDAtool or XDarit tool to burn it on your SD card, upgrade using SD method... then it will only upgrade your ROM not your radio stack
what "extras" does it have, and what AT&T WS programs does it have.
Now hopefully T-Mobile will release theirs soon.
hi,
has anyone tried to run the file once its downloaded???
just downloaded it myself and double clicked on the exe and i get a corrupt message...
anyone having any luck with this???
Thanks alot
Zetex
Working OK
I extracted the all the files from the downloaded file using winzip. I then used xdatools to copy the nk.nbf image to my xda.
It worked .... no problems so far running the WM2003 ROM.
I guess I was taking a few risks and would have been better copying the nk.nbf to a SD card and then use the bootloader method but I didn't have an SD card handy.
Hope this helps.
zetex
dont do that if you upgrade using the exe then you'll prob get the radiostack aswell and if it's an us radiostack you'll loose your gsm 900/1800
hi m8,
what the best way of putting on my xda1 and also upgrading my radio stack to v4.21.
my radio stack is currently v4.20. I have recently used the xdatools to load the beta version A.20.07 ENG version of wm2003.
What will i need to laod this version and also upgrade my radio stack to v4.21. IS v4.21 the best for the UK???
should i extract the nb1 from the exe and use xdatools like last time???
Thnaks alot
Zetex
From what I've seen on this forum, I think v4.21 is the most recent & best radio stack for the UK. Follow the links from http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/xda/romupgrade/0,,170,00.html to obtain it.
As for the new A30.09 ROM, I extracted the nbf and then used xdatools. I think xdatools converts the nbf to a nb1 if you put it on an SD card but I don't really know too much about it.
hi,
i ahve just downloaded the radio stack from O2 v4.21. I have tried to upgrade through active sync 3.71 it upgraded ok, but when i went to restart the xda it gets stuck on the boot screen. the one that says test not for resale... and at the bottom right hand corner its says A.30.07 and then locks up.
normally before i tried to upgrade it said A.30.07 the underneath it said 4.20...
anybody know what i need to do to correct it??
Thnaks alot
Zetex
I can't even get the damn thing to download
How does this compare to the T-Mobile Rom 4.01.00 ? I'm in the UK and O2 don't appear to be releasing a Rom so I'll be going with one of the US ones..
I currently have 4.01.00 on my XDA and it is fairly stable, with only a few minor quibbles.. is the Siemens Rom better in any way ?
Cheers
I had no problem downloading, a little slow but it came across ok. By the way, I am in need of an early radio upgrade for O2 xda, anything before 4.21.
what version of the radio update is included in this version ???
fcan anyone fillme in. thanks
Does anyone know if this rom has WMODEM.exe (wireless modem program)?
something went wrong
I just did the sd install of the attws mobile 2003, and my radio stack is not working. If I go into the bootloader I get the message gsm error. I have tried to install the rsupgrade into the windows folder in the sx56 after I execute the file it will get to 1% and then it will say failed and press ok to restart. I do the restart and it trys to reload the radio stack again and then says failed. The only way to get it our of this loop is to do a hard reset and then wait ten minutes for the sx56 to start again. I hope someone can help me. Thanks.
p.s. I don't have a battery meter either and the sx56 charge light doesn't work either.
Hi all - I've just corrected the link on the MPx200.org page (it originally pointed to an international link, but knowing that it is for the US version, I searched the US pages for an alternative link) so if you were having problems getting it before, you should be able to click on the valid US link now.
Hey,
I've got an originally unlocked/unbranded O2 XDA II. For reasons I wont bother going into, it now has a beta T Mobile MDA II ROM on it. I want to fix it and put the most stable and reliable O2 XDA II ROM on it (which hopefully would make the warranty valid again!). And I need to figure out:
1. What ROM should I put on it? It would be best if it was an official or supported ROM.
2. What software do I use to load the ROM?
You can find the latest O2 ROMS here and I suggest you follow the procedure I describe here.
Wow! Thats information you posted yourself. Thanks so much, I'll try it out soon.
Hi dcs,
I've tried your procedure to modify and update with a O2 ROM 1.72.187.
After preparing all the files and running HimaUpgradeUt.exe I get the first screen and then the message CE image file checksum error.
Can you help telling me where I went wrong?
Thanks a lot.

A couple of things. Did any errors occur during the modification part? and Did you remember to perform the updating of the crc in the nba files in step 11?
I repeated the whole process again and I'm now upgrading....
Hope it works....keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks for your help
Good Please let us know. Did you do anything different or just re-run the upgrade program?
I'm trying to upgrade my IIs from 1.12.62 to iMate's 1.22 ROM, I read carefully thru all the posts here and I *think* I have everything set...
1) Got the xda3nbftool file and written the bat file to modify the ROM...
2) Got the Device Date file from my IIs etc
Am I correct that after the upgrade, I'll loose all original O2 or my carrier's setup from the extended ROM they provided? And bascially, my unit will be turned into a PDA2K right? Is it possible to retain all the O2 files etc while only upgrade the MS and Radio files?
Hey there CL55,
There is much discussion on this forum regarding this issue. I have done this upgrade myself and know it very well.
I used this particular post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=14912 and followed the instructions by ohmlogic to complete the upgrade.
If you need any help or get stuck, Private Message me and I'll see what I can do.
PS: BEFORE you run the upgrade install make sure you have run the GetDeviceData.exe on your phone and retreived the file \windows\devicedata.txt (also from your phone)!!! This is very important and contains the data you'll need to import into your setup files in order to get it to work. If you get this wrong you will lock your device and wont be able to use it!!!
Hope this helps - good luck!
Dom

Yup, you did your homework
Your Phone will look and feel like an I-mate.
Is this a problem, well not realy.
Was not for me and I went form T-mobile in German to I-mate in WWE.
Now there is a whole section on Extened rom, the short is that your provider has added files that they thought were cool. They have put them in a place were you are not meant to see them. However this forum gives your tools that will "unlock" and Unhide" this folder.
If you need this option is up to you and your own understanding.
The fact remains that most of them are unremovebale thus you cant just go over the "remove progams" to get rid of them. So you might end up with software that you can't use or im my case I lost the PDF viewer and zip.
Givem that you have a FTP tool you could have a look at the exteneded roms that are on this server. Internet explore will error on you.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel
Here you can download the ones that look intresting to you and extract the *.Cab files that you like (Like the zip). Copy them over to your device and with explorer click on them to install.
Also you might have had seetings for your Voicemailbox number and your SMS sending number. These are also gone and need to be added again.
There is also a thread about the Splash Screens (what you see when you boot) Here to you can change them if you have the original ones. (I asked were they were hided in that thread but never got an answer.
So for me, I am fine with the I-mate release and the added *cab files that i got out of the other extened roms. All of which can be done without any further tools than what you have mentioned.
Please be aware that for version 1.22 and above the format has changed and that the xda3nbftool.exe may error out on you.
I have tried to start a thread on what has worked for which operator to help people out on this subject.

Have fun
Thanks for the reply guys Like I mentioned in another topic, I just found out O2 has 1.31 ROM avilable thru their repair center! Will give that a shot first Thanks again!
CL55,
Excellent! Well, let us know how you get on and also it would be cool if you can upload it to the ftp here - ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/ - so others can try it out!
Regards,
Dom

I know about the maupgradeut_noId, but thats not what i'm looking for. The tool that i'm looking for is for reflashing the Universal (not for upgrading ROM).

I'm not really clear what you're trying to do. You reflash the ROM when you write a copy of the bootloader, OS, ExtROM or Radio to it, and MaUpgradeUt_NoID is what does the job. There's other software for doing stuff like writing a new splash screen to the ROM.
If you could be a bit more specific about what you're trying to achieve somebody here will point you in the right direction!

When i'm trying to upgrade ROM with Maupgrade it gives me an error about connection, even if the Universal is in bootloader and it's seen by the windows. I've tried with ROMupgradeut but I still receive that error. I've upgrade lately the bootloader to v1.01 from v1.0 and from q-tek rom to ivan beta14. Yesterday i've tried to upgrade to ivan's beta15 but i can't do it. Somebody told me that there is a utility that can reflash the Universal in order to upgrade the ROM of Universal.
Thanks all you guys for trying to help, but as i discovered right now the problem is generated by the windows VISTA, something it's not compatible with it, not the active sync, but the Maupgrade or other software that allows the upgrade.

This is a VERY common issue, solved by installing the latest .net framework on your pc. Please do some more reading and research into what you are trying to do, Id hate to see another device stuck in limbo due to hasty flashing.
