Short Survey - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi again...
After reading through some english/polish forums, one thing makes me wonder:
How many times daily do you soft reset your BlueSweetestAngelThing?
...3-4 that's a lot.

Asus P525/P535 "topics" on the forum

Hello There!
Before to start anything, I would like to say that I know that this site has been created to develop HTC devices, and
my idea problably a waste of time.
Over one and a half year I've been a HTC user. In this time I've had a few devices all of them was HTC. I've learned
everything here, and I'm happy to be a part of this great community.
After I sold my last PDA I'm still browsing the topics, and still upgrading roms to my friends, solving problems using this site.
Now I'm planning to buy an Asus PDA, but I'm afraid because Asus doesn't have that much support what HTC have.
I saw that some topics discusses, and helps peoples who have Asus devices.
So my idea is that we should make separate threads for P525, and P535 to discuss and solve problems there.
Once again: I know that this idea is not the best, but it would be easier to find something related to Asus devices, then
searching, browsing the topics, and hey I love this community.
So if you people like my idea please post here, and if we have a lot of people stands for the idea, we should post it to
the mods/admins
I don't think that there are enough threads about ASUSes these days to create their own specific forum. Still, those pda's can be discussed either in general forum or in Off-topic. As far as I'm concerned I would leave things the way they are right now.
As i own both of them, i would like to have a special forum for Asus devices.
This Forum has a lot of Info, and Asus-Threads drown in the mass of others.

i would like too to see a small asus section, for asus p525 p535 p735 p526 xda flame xda graphite more to come .....
i think i saw over 20 threads about asus devices in here.
its damn hard to fined a good forum like this .
P525=a piece of crap
i am a personal user of a P525 since last October
my p525 had been using Sorg's WM5 build6 for a long time....
the phone had been having all the common problems...shifted screen...bad audio effect...problem battery...slow response...but i figured since everyone's having the same problem...the warranty center won't fix them even if i send them the phone for warranty repair....(besides i live in vancouver...the warranty center is in HK)....
but about last week, it caught me by surprise that people kept asking me why i didn't answer phone calls....
then i checked my p525, it turned out my p525 could make outgoing phone calls with no problem...but when there was incoming calls, my p525 just wouldn't ring or even log or register the incoming call...
the person who phoned my p525 would misunderstand that my phone rang, but i just wouldn't answer.....
since it was the last day of long weekend....and i seemed to have a little bit more free time than usual at my disposal....i decided to flash my p525 rom back the CHT HK rom....
so after i spent a couple of hours to figure out how to flash my p525 rom back to CHT HK, i thought i might as well update the FIRMWARE for the phone part to V4.6XXX, which was also available for download @ the ASUS website.....
it was just an exe file of 1MB or 2 ...
to my absolute amazement, after i updated the Firmware for the phone...my p525 miraculously rings again!!!....
it turns out my problem was at the firmware for the phone part....at some point in time, the p525 incured problem with the firmware without me knowing....
at this point, i didn't know how i felt...
i felt happy....since my problemed p525 was fixed without sending back for warranty.....
on the other hand...i felt angry....i felt i had wasted HK$5K for a piece of unreliable CRAP....
aside from the common problems of shifted screen...bad audio effect....problemed battery....
i have to reset the phone once a week (ironically ...it has become a routine)...
and i used to have to reflash the rom once 1 month...untill i found sorg's cooked rom...(Thanx, Sorg)...
now this!!!....although i fixed it myself...but it really cost me a lot of time and energy, which i could have spent otherwise....(not to mention the embarrassment of apologizing to people for not having been able to answer the phone)....
more over....as my warranty is getting closer to expiry....i am feeling less and less confident about my p525....
i have second thoughts about whether i should now send my p525 for warranty repair anyway...even just for the common problems or the routine reset ....before the warranty expires.....(my main frustration: reliability)
what do u think?
Whoa, that was hard, i think.
I own a P525 also, and it was my first PDA, after throwing away my Siemens mobile.
The only Problem i have is the Battery drain. It lasts max. 2 days with BT on, mostly in sleep. My Siemens makes 10 days with BT on and without recharging.
All other Problems you mentioned do not appear on mine....
I would like to do an own ROM like sorg, but i have a german device and so it is necessary to do all the changes myself.
But i can not find any Info how Sorg has modified his ROM.
But this is fo comfort only, in normal day use it pretty much does what is expected...
(For those who would ask: I have bought an 525 a few months ago and won the 535 in june. Now i use the 525, which i like more for its Phone-Look, except when in unknown area, where GPS is important )
pillowsun
u have problems.
while u talk so much send it back on the warranty, let them c it you have hardware problems.faulty device.
i have the owned tons of ppc,and p525 is one from the top ppc i own.

Updating ROM on Diamond...

Okay I am nervous
I have done Rom upgrades on a few different WM devices. The last one being an XDA Exec.
But on my new Diamond it worries me. Why I hear you ask....
I hear all this hard spl talk before updating and am really worried about bricking it.
But the desire to upgrade is strong. My new long awaited toy just seems so sluggish. The interface is great but sooooo slow and I hear these roms do help.
Dare I say it but my Ipod Touch interface is such a joy to use, maybe I should have gone to the very dark side.
Also sorry about it if this is covered but I want a Diamond upgrade idiots guide
Thanks in advance
Simon

You have made some very nice guides. I am sure it will help noobies a lot.

Getting to the root of it all....

Xda developers community,
Here I sit at the end of approximately 78 hours of a joyfully sleep deprived journey of pure tech excitement. It all started with my two month old G1 Dream, which I am crazy about, suddenly began to annoy me with its ridiculously small internal memory. I offered my dilemma to the overlord of infinite knowledge, Google, and all roads kept leading me here. I began to read, found answers, and developed the uncontrollable urge to join the action. I've read, rooted, rommed, wiped, re-rooted, re-rommed, nearly bricked, cried, picked myself up, read some more, fixed, and utterly tweaked my G1 into a steroid laced technological work of art. Twice I wanted to ask questions but fought my hands away from the keyboard as I read the seemingly harsh and usually condescending replies as my fellow noobs received. Quick and deadly were the Chinese stars of sarcasm as they split their heads open, ending each post with "you would have found this if you'd just taken the time to read the forum". Each one of them ending in that little blue "Link of Shame" they provide linking you right to the detailed answer that was posted like two weeks ago. Not me....no sir! I decided to read and discover the what lies within for myself. I'm so glad I did too because I've learned more about my G1 here in three days than all my accumulated phone knowledge combined. This place is a tech-rebels think tank of knowledge from some really knowledgeable people. Everything I studied and tried was 100% accurate and easy to follow. Thanks to all of you for sharing your discoveries with all of us "Noobs" out here. I'm hooked on XDA! Sleep.....we don't need sleep where we're going....STANDBY FOR REBOOT!!
Welcome to forums
Great and nice words of introduction
Read, Search, Respect and Enjoy!!
Enjoy this great forum! Read, Search, and Happy Flashing
That has to be the best first post I've ever read....
Congrats on all that you've learned.

Welcome to the "family" I too followed your process....
So 'cool' yet spending way to much free time will be the thing to look out for....
Really, Your post is outstanding....wish it could be on all ROM's 1st page...
PM me if you ever need to...DID you know to click on the persons name (top left of their post) to PM them and/or see all their postings....a quick way to get help I have found....
Nice post and welcome to the forums!
We were all "noobs" once mate, at least you did the right thing and read up.
Far too many "users" here just want answers, finding them for yourself is far more satisfying.
So now you've read up on the Billions of pages and dug your way through the hundreds of forums, when will you be releasing your first Rom?
LoL
Welcome to the forums mate, may you be stuck here forever like the rest us!
Cheers,
Beasty
Welcome to your Home!!!
That's similar to what I experienced sometimes. But if you read and read and then you ask about something that "is there" and you did not find, I think nobody will throw you to the lions.
Now, enjoy... and help make this site greater !
I'm a carrier for the XDA virus....
I raced to the office today to ignore the growing pile of work on my desk, darted past my idiot boss mumbling something about deadlines or some crap, and sat down to start the day off with a triple espresso and a theme flash straight from the XDA threads. As I waited for my phone to reboot I started feeling the sharp pinch of conviction. All day long people, myself included, run to the elite developers of XDA for endless advice on flashing, features, firmware, roots, roms, and recovery screens and freely download to their hearts content. Then strut around showing everyone there phones as if they were some sort of underworld hackers. But does anyone stop to think about all the endless hours or trial and error, defeat, lines of code, complaints, and everything else that goes into these works of art? Each day I learn a little something more and gain a deeper insight on the hard work that so many put in so that I can carry around my super fast , fully loaded, and ready to tether G1 each day. Allthough I really dont think these folks do what they do for fame or fortune, I still feel like I need to give credit where obvious credit is due. Thanks for the hard work, warm welcomes, and dead on advice I recieve each day here. And the flavor of the day today is an RC29 build, Cyanogen pimped out recovery and his latest update, very nice "Black Ice" theme, and a phone I cant seem to put down. Oh crap...here comes that jack a** boss of mine and my boot loader is stuck in a loop. I gotta start establishing better priorities.......like getting up and closing my office door so I can wipe and reflash this bad boy!!
Hihi.. nice writing.
Welcome on board.
Grtz Leo

thank you all

I'd also like to add my thanks. I've been tooling around on these forums since my HTC Hero days, and have always been able to find the answers to my questions. Chances are if you do run into a problem with this fantastic phone, your question has probably already been answered. Searching, reading, and understanding is faster (and IMO more satisfying) than re-posting a question and waiting for a response. Once again, thanks to all here.
I would also like to add my thanks too! A couple months ago when I first got this phone I Flashed a rom for the international version of our phone and thought I bricked it for good but you fine people stuck with me untill I got my phone back up and running. It is amazing, you get more support from this site than most huge companies! Keep up the amazing work!!

^^^ that brought a tear to my eye No truer words have ever been spoken on XDA....

Question regarding Wi-Fi

Hello everyone! First of, this is not a comparison nor suggestion thread, it is just a simple Q&A thread, so petty souls - stop reading now and leave.
That being said, I have to say that I tried, really tried to read as much as I could but there is just too much and it would take a lifetime to read everything, so if your answer is going to be "try everything for yourself and see" - stop reading now and leave this thread.
Here is my problem: This is a known issue on JB stock and stock based roms. Wi-Fi is terrible. The connection itself is great, I don't have any troubles on that side, I am having troubles with slow Wi-Fi speed. Even though I have 2 signal bars download speed is terrible, videos keep buffering (YouTube keeps buffering every couple of seconds even on LQ settings). This behaviour is not happening when I have 3 signal bars or when my reception is full. I have tried multiple roms, mods, kernels, wi-fi "fixes" but I cannot seem to find any that got this thing truly fixed.
Finally, here is my question: Are there any roms, kernels or other fixes that can help me with this issue? If Yes, please provide with the name of a fix, or with a link. I couldn't find it myself. And believe me, I tried (HBOOT is 1.72 so going back to ICS is not an option).
Thank You for reading. I will really appreciate any answer one can provide.
Regards.
Why so hostile in the first sentences ? Bit to much i guess ! If you can't handle it stop reading now
The only WiFi fix available is the one on the viper x rom but that is already incorporated in many roms. If you tried so many roms and kernels you already pretty much know the answers you will get here.
There is no true fix. It's maybe a combo of rom and kernel + hboot. Maybe it's hardware......we just can't tell !
Cheers.
Because my head really hurts like hell from all the reading and I couldn't bear to read another smartass response
Well, I thought as much. I really tried many combos, but cannot seem to find the right one. Oh, well, I will give a shot to another 20 or so roms and see if that helps.
Thank you for the quick answer.
I know your head can be hurting but starting a opening post like that is like shooting yourself in the foot .... many people withdraw from posting because it kinda scares them.....Not me, i am honest and straightforward
Hahaha, I thought that noone on the www is scared
And, good for You. People should be honest and straightforward.
Cheers!
