this bug and solution is by Dredd :
Also in this WM6 new rom still there is the bug of the name of serial cable on Com1.
It can cause some connection problems if people want to connect a cable gps receiver for example.
It can be easy fixt (again) as follow:
Start an registry editor, for example resco registry editor.
Go to the following direction:
HKey_Local_Machine\Drivers\Builtin\Serial
you see an "ab" file called "friendlyName" in Greek (!) language
Change the string named friendlyName to "Serial Cable on COM1"
That's all ! Now you can connect also through cable... Enjoy
One major bug I found.

I had a small bug that prevented some programs to connect to the Internet via ActiveSync (Resco Update, IM+...). So here's what I did: updated ActiveSync to 6.1 and applied the above fix for COM 1. Then it worked fine after a soft reset.
Also, it seems WM6 eats a bit more of RAM doesn't it ? Not to worry, just something like 1MB
Edit : Actually, more like 2MB Still, much faster... so who cares

I found out that Yahoo Go! was causing it. So once I deleted it, I could get it to work.
Sadly I have 0 means of push email now.
SSL issue
Ok the issue with all SSL connections (active sync, IE, probably windows live)
is not the certificate but the way the device is seeing those connections.
for example if you go to
gmail.com in IE you will get a message saying that certificate has an issue asking you to accept it. It says everything is ok except the name does not match on the certificate and what the device is seeing. This is probably the problem with all the other secure connections (live and active sync)
Errrrr... Guys ? Big problem here. Internet connection via ActiveSync is very very slow (can't watch live TV with 14 Kbps). Anyone has a fix ?

I could change themes fine.
Then the problem must be with the Media Player. It doesn't go above 15 Kbps...
Messaging problems?
Anyone else having problems adding a new account to messaging? I can't sync inbox via activesync, nor add a POP3 account. I did a full restore with sbp backup, and until now it llooked like it worked. I'm thinking of hard resetting to see if the restore broke the messaging. Should I?
EDIT: I did a hard reset and messenger (Mobile Outlook) syncs via activesync to PC (not exchange) and I can add new accounts. Looks like full restore from backup was the cause of my problem. I recommend not to do full restore with SBP backup.
A12 Media Decoder File
Media Player plays WMV not smoothly.
To install A12WMV.cab will install 2 files into \windows\
A12 wmvdecoder.dll
A12 wmadecoder.dll
Both files are certificated.
Smooth than previous decoder but not perfect.
CorePlayer 1.1 is a better solution.

NO Sound.. Speaker not working
Hello All,
Did the upgrade of Football ROM WM6 A01
img-48127-A01_RTM_By_Football.rar
Now i tried the hardreset, it did the up grade but problems with speaker. NO sound. I tried playing with WMP and the Mortplayer no sound. I can see it reading the mp3 file, but no sound. I went to sound notification and tried to have hardware sound set but nothing.
I'm doing another download and hardreset, but if u know anything more about this problem please do let me know.
Thanks in advance.
ps. i do notice that over speed with which the OS is working. I hope it's not because the speakers are not working.
***** Update ********
I reasoned that maybe it was the speakers and i tried to listen the music via headphones. The headphones work.
So sound is not effected, my speakers are.
Now i'll try to reinstall a17 and see if i can my speakers back. if not, then i know it's a physical problem and not the program.
Just curious, how does that work, are headphone and speaker on the same type of drivers or different drivers etc.?
Good Afternoon All,
I've been playing with a few ROMS, and Kitchens, and reading the forum's, threads; but I have yet to find out one that talks about what some of these applications do, and if they are really needed.
These are a few that I am interested in;
SqlCeMobile
Transcriber
Enterprise
Beam
Also, curious about the removal of;
Error Reporting
External GPS
I know there is a .cab to remove the icon for error reporting, but what about removing it totally? What exactly is the external GPS? What does it do?
Also, I've noticed that on some ROMS, chefs either create .rgu, and .dsm files in their packages, or they just totally leave them out, and I am guessing they just make the changes to the default.hv file. I just wanted to know what's the difference?
Any input on this would be great, as I know that I am not the only one that is curious about this.
Partial answer :
SqlCeMobile = MS SQL for mobiles I guess (database engine)
Transcriber = character recognition (clic on the "keyboard" icon at the bottom when in a text area, then on the arrow). I don't know anybody who likes this kind of typing !
Further partial answer
- Enterprise : utilities used for connectivity to enterprise systems (VPN mainly)
- Beam : option in Comm Manager to turn on/off the Infrared port (by default it is ON and "looking" for incoming connections or notification when the pda is near another infrared-enabled device (e.g. laptop, another phone etc)

The beam option also allow the receipt of files transmitted via bluetooth.

Hi all!
I searched a lot here to find this little CAB which I had at my Blue Angel.
This little program integrates into the Today screen and lets you change the volume, notifications, BT, WiFi, Screen orientation settings according to 9 preset profiles. You can also set a schedule to auto change profile at a desired time.
Since there are no 'About...' button there and it was part of an EXTROM at Blue Angel, I don't know the origin of this masterpiece. However I find it utterly useful, so download it and enjoy! AFAIK it works on WM5 and WM6 no problem (VGA compatible...)
(PS.: The only thing I missed is backup - I need to set my profiles after every hardreset.)
EDIT:
Thanks to creed, we got the about screen. I don't know how I couldn't find it.
Here is the official page: http://www.winmobileapps.com/device/pocketpc/pwm/pwm.aspx
Looks useful, anyone else tried it?
MM
This is a nice little program, almost perfect in fact, but I have found a problem with it. I created a 'Home' profile that enables me to use my wifi network but the profile program does not allow me to change the connection network setting.
So it connects via wifi but then trys to connect to the internet using the existing GPRS connection. Of course I could change this manually but if the program could do this it would be perfect!
Also it would be nice if it had more control over the data connection i.e. choose GPRS or 3G or wifi and the afore mentioned network connection setting.
Lastly it doesn't seem to pick up some of my custom ring tones. I suspect this is a format issue as this program was designed for WM5 originally.
The 'About' info is here:
Thakks for the replies. Trying the Free cab for now. Exactly what I wanted...
Thanks
Thank you for the about screenshot... Chenking it out.
Yes, it lacks some of the radio on/off functionallity. I once tried to create a 'phone off' profile for the night to save battery, but as I remember the switching on was problematic.
And yes, in WM6 it doesn't seem to support some of the wma formatted sounds... I converted the Alarms : )
Very nice plug-in. But with WM6 I cannot set MP3 files as SMS Tones Anyone can help with that?
Does anybody know about "[Script]" feather on Selecting Sound tab?
What is it? How to wrote script?
Hello everyone. I have just recently updated/flashed/done something to my phone to the Artemis Touch 4.02. Great rom so i have seen, no complaints with it. (Unsure what the proccess is actualy called.)
Only setback i have is that files i recive by bluetooth go straight to my main memory. What i would like to do is to have it go straight to my micro sd card, and to have a progress bar showing me the status.
I have tried a few programs.
DrYAR Bluetooth manager 1.5: Does what i need, but seems to be a little unstable. Sometimes freezes or will not connect to most phones.
DrYAR Bluetooth manager 1.6: Works great, only problem, if constently asks for every bit of the file you recive. So if its set to auto recive, theres alot of beeping going on.
DrYAR Bluetooth manager 2.0: I have seen this version somewhere, but i cant seem to download it
BT Tools: Dosnt seem to have many options.
Enable A2DP:Not sure where i got this from, but i had it from when i had a MDA Compact II. Worked for what i needed then. Dosnt seem to work on this one.
Broadcom Bluetooth Manager:Looks fantastic, many options to mess around with, but it just wount run on my device. Says there is not enogh memory to turn on bluetooth.
Is there any way i might make the first or last options work well, or is there another app i can try? So far it is a pain to move them over. I would like to keep the internal memory as free as possible.
Any more information you want do let me know.
PS Sorry for any spelling errors.
Is no one able to reply?
How about moBlue, works well on my Artemis and Diamond
HTH
Kim
Dosnt seem to work well on mine, still wants to use the windows version. Or sometimes the phone/whatever just doesnt connect
Well, I use moBlu as well on my Artemis & it works well. For it to work, you need to launch it before receiving a transfer via Bluetooth. You can set it up in its settings to make your phone discoverable when you launch the app & disconnect bluetooth when app is closed. And in the filters you will find 2-3 default filters, just select the "*.*" filter & set the location to a folder on your card. You can delete the other two filters or edit them & also add more if you want. They are file extension filters so if any file you are receiving matches them the filter will be applied & your file will be automatically stored in that specified filter folder.
With this trick i suggest a simple way to enable audio routing for watch video in bluetooth a2dp device.
Needed:
- device unlocked
- wp7 root tools
Open wp7root tools and go in this key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Zune\Playback\Video\A2DP\CapsSet1
Change dword value DisableA2DPPLayback from 1 to 0
Now your device send audio of video like youtube, internet,or stored in memory in a2dp device if connected via bluetooth
Tested on my Samsung Omnia 7 with Vodafone Bluetooth stereo earphone and with my Sony A2DP BT car stereo in my car.

Hi,
it does not work on htc hd7
Awesome. I just tried with a video podcast and Motorola Bluetooth headphones and the audio did play through the blutetooth headphones. Now why didn't they just make this a setting or change it!?
Important notice!
I see if wifi signal is too low bluetooth not working correctly (my car stereo show disconnected device after few seconds). Suggest to listen video even downloaded in phone's memory. I missing write reboot is needed after change value. Ehm... i think for missing settings function this is commercial strategy. I see more settings implemented in registry but for commercial strategy these features are released over time or because they have not been tested or have a certain advantage in being able to communicate the dates of signatures. Even if enabled tethering works but is not active yet officially. Same goes for the voice search bing. Tomorrow I will create another discussion where I say what keys to edit the search for local bing (3 icons). The one I have not yet found is just to enable voice search of bing. That works by modifying the system language in English, even if all other items are located with your language. I hope google translator work better for my translations. Scuse me for my bad english

Thank you so much for this. It took me a few weeks later to remember that I had did the registry change but not tested it. I finally tested it a few days ago and it works on my HD7. I was able to listen to the audio from my videos through my BT earpiece.
This missing feature on wp7 was bugging me for while! Nice hack fabcal, many thanks! Not sure why MSFT disabled this feature??
Nice! Will test when I get home.
I presume ChevronWP7 wont be sufficient to enable this?
You did error in:
\C_apsSet1
Need change to:
\CapsSet1
I did this on LG E900 with MFG. Tomorrow I will test this with bluetooth.

If wp7tools isn't for HTC products how did you do this on your HD7? Please detail so I can follow the way.
please how did it work on htc hd7
i can not get it working on mine
Awesome. I've been b|tching about this issue for awhile.
Just got around to finally testing and it works perfect on my HD7!! Thanks a lot for this. ANd you need to be interop unlocked and use the registry editor from Schaps (touchexperience) to make the change. Flash Dotcompt's rom and then all you need to do is install registry editor.
WORKS!!! Made change on my LG Quantum.
Thanks for this. I haven't really needed it, because my bluetooth device is my car stereo. I don't have bluetooth headphones. But, it still bugged me that I couldn't do it.
I am going to test this when i get in my truck before I leave work.
Oddly, the initial value was not 1. it was 27397520. (Actual original value)
When I first tested it, this did not work for me. I changed the value. Then I tested it. Then I shut down my phone and restarted. Then tested again. It still did not work.
Later that night, I checked the value in the retgistry. It was 1, not 0.
I changed it to 0, like I did earlier. But this time I powered down right away.
After restarting. I checked the value. It was still 0. I tested it.
It Worked!!!
I think the key to this is make the change. Reboot immediately. Check the value (probably not necessary). Then connect to bluetooth.
I think connecting to bluetooth before rebooting resets the value to 1.
So, just apply the change and restart the phone right away.
Thanks again for posting this.
LG phones have a built in registry editor which is in the MFG app. You just need to acticate it and then use the password.
After Software update with Backup are still changed values? Anyone know?
For Samsung Phones, If you get error code 0×81030120 while deploying wp7 root tools, install this internet connection sharing app and then wp7 root tools will be installed easily.
It turns off the flag which is used for interop unlock.
Hi,
Will this tweak force audio to a headset without A2DP; as in with HFP only?
regards
Dave
Works on samsung focus.

Very good question!
I'll be soon will be getting the HTC Titan and having it Chevron Unlocked but this will not be interop unlocked and so that I can use the registry editor from Schaps to enable this feature, so how do we go around this?
What about trying this method from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10474729&postcount=1 Will this work? anyone tried this with 2nd gen HTC WP7 phones?
Thanks for the trick, work perfect on Lg optimus 7 E900h....
