My desire Z is reasonably new a few months old. But Itd been let without use for about a month and when I took it out I noticed now when I open the keyboard the screen goes purpleish, not all over but tinged in places. White is purple in some places and there's green blotches near on screen icons. It looks like the colours have been dragged to the right slightly. I think its a hardware issue but its a pain
When keyboard is closed the problem usually isn't present or sometimes the distortion is minimal. ALSO iv now noticed the hard QWERTY keyboard no longer seems to function right eithar. Some letters arnt working most of the time.
Anyway ink how to repair it or know a guide? I this it mit be something to do with the cable.
If you want to strip your phone down to check that the ribbon you see when sliding the keyboard out then look at this

There is videos showing you how to take the phone apart to replace the hinge spring, sounds to me to be a faulty display though.
If you do take the phone apart there is a screw with void sticker so your warranty will be good and gone,if it is a faulty display you could still un root and get it replaced?
Wait to see if anyone else has any ideas before breaking out the screwdrivers,
No its not a faulty display. Display is ok when screen is closed. Also I used a tweezers to push the cable in as much as I could at the back and it fixed the screen. . . . .QWERTY was still not as good as it shud be (but slightly improved) but after maybe 15open and shuts it came out again.
So this means I have to open it and unloosen it right? No simpler easier way to do it?
And the keyboard problems are caused by the cable too afaik.
The method in the video is the only way I know to gain access to the ribbons socket, still think warranty is your best bet as you have pointed out the keyboard is faulty,if you open it up and cant replace the void sticker/something goes wrong, then the warranty is gone and you have a broken phone...........................
Oh I forgot to mention I have no warranty so its no loss to me xD. The keyboard was fine when I got it though so it didn't come from factory faulty.
Ok then,if you want to have a fiddle about inside then you will need a 5 Torx driver to open up the back and a philips(very small)helps to have a magnetised one as the screws can be fiddly once you pop the case open, watch that video in the link I gave you to see how its done, best of luck
Lovely I'll give it a go. Thank you
Good stuff,If you need any advice PM and will see if I can help bud.
Quick introduction. For experience and training purposes I started buying broken phones (LCD, digitizers) and try to repair them. I bought HTC Wildfire S with just cracked touch screen. Bought parts and replaced. When assembling phone back the screen did not work on the whole area, what I mean it was working like partially, only vertical left hand side was working. Like writing text message, R works, then E and T doesn't.
Tried to disconnect the digitizer connector, maybe it was not touching properly, couple times. But that didn't work. It was just working in different places than before. Found here a thread about a problem for different digitizer versions.

But the thing is I have no idea how to approach anything that these people suggest. I don't know how to replace software, reinstall it or whatever involves soft. I would like to learn too.
If you have any ideas or suggestions please share with me, if not I will just sell the phone back as not working. Thanks
Hey guys
I have a half working OneX lying here and need some advice. The lcd doesnt work anymore and stays black all time. The rest of the phone still seems to work. I looked on ebay.com.au ( I am in Australia right now) for some lcds but git kinda confused which I have to buy now.
Is this the right one or do I need sth. else?

SOmeone any idea? Do I have to open my HOX to see which Screen I need or what?
I have a similar problem as you with my HOX, though sometimes when I twist my phone from the edges a but the screen comes to life for a while. I've read that this could be a problem with the ribbon being pressed out of place due to heating of the battery. I think its a better option to get it checked by a hardware guy than buying something that you might not need.

Hello guys ,
I had a terrible situation today I wish anyone can help me wake up from this nightmare as soon as possible
My tablet is working fine for about 15 months and today I accidentally applied a pressure on the center of the tablet screen
then I found it off - I mean the screen - despite the tablet is up , tried to restart it , the LCD stays off although I can hear the sound of messages , the sound of touching the keypad of the password panel , so I am sure the touch is working and everything is well functioning , but the LCD is dead .
By the way there's no cosmetic damage on my tablet at all and the screen has 0 damage
Can anyone suggest me a solution or a diagnosis ?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my terrible English .

First, you could test it on a tv with an HDMI adapter. If the screen shows up, it means the circuitry is good. Then, take the tab to a dark room, shine a flashlight on the screen to see if the images are there with unlit background. If they are, the backlight has gone bad.
If nothing is seen, you'd want to pop off the back cover, and inspect the amber ribbon running the length of the battery at both ends.
The end connecting to the motherboard snaps on and off, which is more likely to come off, seeing as the silver EMI strip is not designed to hold the connector down.
The other end requires that you remove the board at the bottom for inspection. It's unlikely that this end should loosen since it's "latched" down. If the connections are good, more likely than not the lcd is out. That being the case, the only thing to do is to replace the touch/lcd combo since there is no way I know of that one can remove an original screen without cracking it. The tape Asus uses binds too strongly and the touchscreen too brittle.

Hi guys
I wanted to ressurect my old moto g5 (cedric xt1676) which i was not using for a longer time. Screen was cracked but touch worked just fine. I bought screen replacement assembly and connected it. Screen (picture) is working fine but touch is not working at all. Is there any way to solve this problem? What i found untill now is that after some update motorola/lenovo disabled support for 3rd party screens - one i bought is stated to be "original" but i doubt it.
I did a factory reset before removing old screen, after connecting new one, start menu was in russian (i can't read bukvas so its a guess ), after another reset it is back to english but touch is still not working. There is a padlock symbol in top left corner of the screen.
I just wanted to fix the old phone to give it to the family member but now i spent so much time on this issue that i want to fix it very badly.
Hope that someone can and want to help me.
At the end of the day it's all down to if the correct parts were used and if it was fixed correctly. Nothing we can really help with here.
It's Russian ransomware screen
Seriously always use OEM parts.
Make sure all connectors are intact; remove and inspect contacts. Make sure you didn't miss a ground or data connection; sometimes they are just contact points between assemblies. Using the wrong length screw may cause a missing contact pathway. Assemble exactly the way it was.
The mobo may have been damaged when the display was broken. High G impacts can internally damage chipsets and crack solder joints. Flexing a multilayered mobo can break internal traces.
Sorry to hear that. Anyway - i have nothing to loose so i would try with olderversion of android - is it possible to instal without working touch in the phone?
