anyone used eXPerience for windows mobile??

i started using this programe the other day and i love it, it gives a real nice windows XP feel to the pocket pc, i have XDAIIs and it works well with that too.... fully customisable to have your own desktop wallpaper and desktop icons too also has the start button at bottom left corner of screen... and when pressed brings up a window that looks like the one on xp itself.... anyone else tried this???? whats your views on it if you have??
I have tried and and find that it scores on eye candy points. As far as productivity, I think the default gui does a better job. I have also noticed that it eats alot of memory. I certainly can't afford that since memory for resident productivity application takes precedence over the "that's cool" look.
i couldnt say id notice a decrease of memory!!, how can you tell how much it takes??? :?
enable the memory usage Today Plugin.

i agree. the interface / screen does look good in the xp-mode but i still prefer the default mode of the xda. i didn't uninstall the app though; i keep it around just for kicks. however 90% of the time my unit is on the default today screen which allows me more versatility such as having plugins, animated today, etc.
cheers
used it for a while. eye candy indeed.
but really found no good use for it.

glitchy when using slide bar

hi all
my mda compact iii seems a bit glitchy when sliding the side bar on pages that are too big to display. rather than sliding the contents of the screen smoothly like my mda pro did, it skips up and down a bit making it impossible to read when you are scrolling down a web page for example. only workaround is to jab at the up / down buttons at either end of the slide bar. is this common to all mda c iii's or do you think mine might be faulty?
cheers
si
my orbit had the same problem, glitchy when using the side bar. Not all the time, but if you have a long page, then sliding it up and down is smooth to start with, but then the glitch starts happening. I don't think its the machine, but more like the OS.
I changed my orbit and now using the trinity. The trinity does have a quicker CPU, and is quicker for general operations. Not that I was too bothered with the speed of the Orbit, because it was good enough for general usage.
thanks hongsit
that's put my mind at rest. it seems strange that my mda pro felt much much slower at everything else even though in theory it has a faster processor, but it was really smooth at handling its vga screen draws. anyway, the artemis is a real step up in every way (except scrolling!!)
cheers
si
also glitchy scrolling
Hi...
i'm having the same problem scrolling is glitchy.. but interestingly only in the lower half of the screen. Already recalibrated the screen but didn't solve the problem.
What is your solution, apart from using the scroll up and scroll down buttons. Because i really liked to hold the stick on the scroll bar while reading websites...
Maybe i should ask O2 if they replace/fix it.
cheers
Armin
PS.: it's also annoying while playing solitaire

Korean MMO for Windows Mobile!!!

Have anyone seen and tryied the game from SmartCell?
They got a name called shadow of legend
I downloaded it for my Artemis and it goes pretty well with Wi-Fi networking...
Don't even try to use it on GPRS mode or EDGE mode, cuz it consumes almost a whole 2GB card for files AND a lot of bandwith to work....so, WiFi is more secure not to have slowdowns during gameplay
Also, it works with a soft keypad from the own game, which saves us from having to buy a compatible qwerty keyboard........
Pretty good game, I just need to get it downloaded for PC to try on desktop too
for the ones wanting a link, here it goes: Shadow of Legend
Just for everyone that reads the thread knows, I'm in search of MMO games for Artemis/Pocket PC with Touchpad for studies....
If anyone get to know any MMORPG or other kind of MMO that can be run on Artemis, let me know, so I can study more and make better games later on!
Thanks for the hand!
Cya later ppl!

WM 6 scrolling problem

Hello, I have Diamond with WM 6.1, but there is a big problem with it. Program scrolling speed is TERRIBLE. I dont mean TF 3D (Manilla) I think normall Windows Program folder. Why am I writting it here to General? Becouse I heard that this is problem of every WM 6 device. But I dont know if this is right. There are two problems in fact. Somebody´s talking about slow PIE scrolling (and there is a fix on it) and somebody of slow Program folder scrolling. I mean second one. So, does any of your devices do it? But only WM6, on WM 5 and lower are (at least I read it) Programs scrooling normal. QVGA and VGA, display resolution is not the problem. Of course, Diamond is a VGA device, but this should not affect it too much. And other WM6 scrool folders are OK, like settings, they are fast enough. So, does anybody know what to do with it? Any known fix, tweak? I was searching for about five hours and nothing. I tried to bigger GLYPHCACHE, and nothing changed. Only one clue I found is that someone on Dell Axim x50v has very slow scrooling after upgrade from WM5 to WM6, but there was no solution, only that he fixed it by the file from XDA, bud I didnt find it.
please clarify what you mean by slow scrolling
try turning up the touchflo threshold using advanced config.
Yes, no problem. I mean, that if I click on start, then Programs, and i pick (mean click (I am not very good in english)) slider and move with him, it is very slow, I don´t know how to tell it english. I can compare it to game - it shows bad framerate, it is not slow in meaning of just speed, but in smoothnes of scrolling, it is like slideshow compared to scrolling smoothnes and speed in WM6 settings. It is not problem of VGA screen, that is sure. Touchflo has nothing to do with that I think, but I will try it.
No one has tha same problem? Only Diamond?

Multitasking with rhodium

i dont understand this why is this so hard to multitask in rhodium... i cant multitask while i browse.. crap !!!.. tried all the browsers they close once i try to open any other application??? WTH??.... what do i do... i have flashed nearlly ll the cooked roms , in all of them i experience the same problem.. in some roms i get this error if i try to open a heavy web page
"Memory low, please choose an application to close" i only have windows media player and a browser.. cant even two applications run .. huff man.. even my elfin was able to multitask better... this 256mb ram is good for nothing.. all the cooked roms are also filed with junk.. total 176 in that 100 mb is already filled WTH!!!.. and in a day it come to 150mb and i am left with only 20mb .... ...
try ucbbrowser and see
its good for browsing
heavy memory use is due to screen resolution being high
do not use windows media player, it consumes heavy ram
use coreplayer, nitrogen or whatever
NEVER WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER
even with nitrogen it closes... the real point is, i open the browserand open some webpage.. by the time it loads i want to run some software.. for that i press the red key.. by the time i open the second software the browser would have closed already... so it's not even 2 programs just one browser it cant handle..
I think you must have some other factor in play here...
On my TP2 (Tmo US, stock 6.1 rom), I currently have open:
-IE, on ESPN
-Nitrogen, playing a 95MB mp3 file
-Word Mobile, with a 2MB doc open
-Google maps, with GPS running
-HTC photo album, listing ~200 hi-res pics.
I have a slight slowdown in menu scrolling, but that's it...other than that, each program is running and running smoothly. I even loaded IE before all the others, just to see if it shut down when I added anything in particular, but it never did.
You mentioned that you hit "the red button"...do you mean the far-right hardware button in the row along the bottom? It was always my understanding that would close the app you're "in" at that moment, but I could be wrong. To back out of an app, but still leave it running, and then open another, I just hit the "home" button to take me back to the home screen, then I can navigate to any other program and start it without closing any of the ones I have open.
Oh cool...i am never able to runthis many apps.... maybe i need to flash some 6.1 rom and check how it goes... maybe 6.5.5 is the issue .. but again 6.1 looks like **** .... have to find a better trade off.... or is sense 2.5 the real issue???... even with 2.1 i had problems i guess... man i should find a better combination here..
6.1 with titatnium or 6.1 with 2.1 or 6.5 with titanium or 6.5 with 2.1 or 6.5 with 2.5 or 6.5.5 with titanium or 6.5.5 with 2.1 or 6.5.5 with 2.5
Also red button wont close the app.. it just gets you to home screen..
Even though I never had issues multitasking on here before this, I will mention that I recently installed the 2 .cabs which have been shown to reduce memory usage on the TP2:
"SSK TP2 Dynamic Resource Proxy.cab"
and
"NoPushInternet_v2.cab"
They should both be available here, but if not, they can be found by a simple search of other similar forums as well (I think I found them at PPCGeeks, not sure). Like most other people that have tried them, I noticed an immediate, and constant, 20-40% reduction in memory usage overall.

i use 6.1 with stock rom on sprint and use the stock opera browser to surf the web. i can use pocket player while browsing the web and no problems. have you tried pocket player?? its much better then wmp, coreplayer i think. pocket player isnt free though,a quick search and you will find it.
i guess i finallly understood the problem.... switched back to a 6.5 rom... whoa... i can multitask like hell... ****on 6.5.5 was the problem.. worst memory management there... also battery drains like hell... people who are using 6.5.5 for a long tmi switch to 6.5 you will note considerable difference
