auto disconnect - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

i´m trying to retrive mail using pop3 account with sucess, but the gprs connection stays always connected, any one knows to auto disconect in windows2003.

I am also trying to figure this problem out.
Does staying connect drain the battery quite a bit?

Hi...
try this cab file...
Greetings..
RAGO

RAGO,
I installed the file and still seem to be having the same problem.
I need to disconnect gprs manually.
And other ideas?

My friend...after installing the cab file,go to start/settings/system/GB-SOFT Tweak, then check "turn off gprs if device not used for",then in the slider below, adjust the desired time...it will disconnect automatically after x minutes...
Good luck..
RAGO

Thank you!!

GPRS with xdaIIs

hello all,
How can i make it so, GPRS stays on all the time?
right now, it connects to GPRS when an internet connection is needed by an application, but diconnects when done.
Can I have it on all the time, even when the xdaIIs is idle?
Didn't have that issue with my previous xdaII.
Thx in advance for your help.
Glad.
um, I'm VERY new to this & really feel that I shouldn't be answering a post for at least another few months, but have you tried changing your preferred wireless data conection channel to "GPRS"?
For me after I do that it just stays on untilI shut it off.
Thanks for the reply,
where is that setting located? can't find it
connect to the gprs munually from the signal icon and it will stay on forever or until you lose signal. If you set the gprs to be your default connection and another app calls it, it will disconnect automatically when done. So your best bet, and this is what I do and I stay connected 7-10 hours at a time is to connect manually and it will stay on.
Hi, resently I'm having problems with the Internet connection. I used to have internet connection practicly all the time but know very often on the day I lose conection and have the soft reset to conect again...
Some of you, can sugest something?

How to activesync by WiFi

Hello,
I can easyly syncronize with USB or Bluetooth.
I've set a WiFi connection to my ADSL router, it works fine, I can scan the LAN (with ScanIP) and see my PC, but no way to sync...
Though Active Sync 3.8 is installed.
Some of you succeeded, what's the magic ? ? ?
Thanks for sharing,

Cool link, added to my Favorites, thnks for shareing that with us
Superb
Excellent, if only everything was explained like this, keep it up!!!!
It was already here...
I had actually found it on this forum a few months ago...
But since I had put it into my favourites I figured it would have taken me about the same time to give it you than to tell you "go and and look for it"!
Glad it helped.

I struggled with this for awhile and could not get it working. The issue was I had was in the PC WINS setting I had left the LMHOSTS Lookup enabled. As soon as I unchecked that and had the Netbios tab checked it synced up. Thanks for the link. Now I can wifi sync.
another gotcha
I read every thread I could find on several forums regarding activesync via wifi and yet I could not get it to work. Then I finally read on a thread that the PPC network card "My network card connects to:"should be set to connect to WORK not The INTERNET. I changed that one setting and bingo, activesync instantly connected via wifi (I already had a partnership created while connected via USB). Of course to have the PPC connect to the Internet via wifi, you have to set it back but that is easy enough to accomplish.

On my SX66, I don't have to change back to "the Internet" to surf; I just leave it set to "Work".
New problem...activesync connects but
Well, I had everything working, now I have a new issue. I can successfully sync via usb and BT connects. When turn off BT and then tell activesync running on the BA to sync, activesync on both the PC and the BA indicate that they are connected (as BT is off and the BA is out of the cradle, it is obvious that they are connected via WiFi at this point). Then the "looking for changes" meter starts advancing and when it gets about 1/3 of the way finished, it just stops. Both the PC and the BA still show connected and activesync still indicates that it is trying. After several minutes of the no more progress, the PC side activesync indicates that there was a synchronization error.
Any ideas. I have uninstalled activesync 3.8 and reinstalled. I have run the outlook repair utility just in case there was something weird with my outlook pst file (it was clean).
Thanks
David
I have this problem too - I find if i soft reset the unit (and sometimes my computer too) then it works fine. anyone got any ideas?
Tried the soft reset ....
I tried the soft reset on the PPC as well as rebooting the PC and still activesync stops progressing during the sync process about 1/3 of the way thru and eventually reports the synchronization error. I have noted that during BT or usb syncing, the process pauses at the same place for just a split second and then zooms thru the remaining 2/3s of the process. It is like activesync is waiting for somekind of a handshake or acknowledgement from the PPC. I hope someone can shed some light on this.

Have you tried turning off synchronise 'Files' in the activesync options? sometimes funny files can cause this problem?
Only syncing...
The only things I am trying to sync are my contacts, tasks and calendar. I even tried unchecking even those items so that I was essentially NOT syncing anything but activesync via WiFi still stalls at about 1/3 complete. As I did have WiFi/ActiveSync working for a day or so with NO issues and nothing has changed (or I guess I should say, I changed nothing), this is a real mystery.

PLEASE HELP WITH NETWORK ADAPTERS for Blue Angel

I was attempting to discover what the problem is as far as adding my Blue Angel WM2005 to my home network. I would like to be able to share files between my Pocket PC and other computers in my home in the normal way. Anyways....... I changed a setting within the Settings/Conections/Network Cards, folder. Problem is that I cant remember which adapter it was that I changed. Although my WIFI internet link still seems to work OK. I am totaly unable to connect with my desktop now and obviousley Active Sync wont work at all. Everytime I plug my Pocket PC into its stand. The computer displays a caution symbol in the conections list and says that there is a problem it. I also noticed that the IP adress on the desktop icon for the Pocket PC does not match the one on my Pocket PC.
If anyone knows the correct settings so that the IP adress will yet again be automaticaly detected and a link will establish. So that Active sync will work correctly, could they Please Please post a full and complete list of the settings for both the Desktop PC and my Pocket PC.
Thankyou

Ok well, I still cant get active sync working at all. But my Conections folder on the desktop does at least show a good conection with the pocket PC. As for the WLAN conection to the wierless router, it seems to be a somewhat tempremental and connects ok sometimes and then refuses totaly other times. Also previousley the thing would automaticaly connect to the internet via the WLAN as soon as I enterd a web adress in Pocket Internet Explorer. Now I have to manualy connect the WLAN everytime, even so it only works about 40% of the time.
All this I would like to point out is as a result of me doing somthing in the conections folder on my Pocket PC. Because it all worked perfectly before hand. So I am 100% sure that all is needed is for the settings to be set correctly and it will all work great again.

I seem to have fixed pretty much all the problems on my WM2005 equiped SPVM200. However It was necesary to Hard boot again and reinstall everything. But the good thing is that now not only do all my netwok adapters work correctly, but the Ring Tones are at a good volume also. The one and only problem I have left is that I still cant get my back light sliders to work and full power on the backlight realy eats the battery. So if anyone has any solutions to that problem, please post them here.
Rob, I am thinking about upgrading my SPV M2000 to the windows pocket 2005 op system. Does this improve the bluetooth system. I currently have problems connecting my SPV to an integrated Bluetooth car kit and wondered i this upgrade would help. I think that I need Bluetooth vers 2.0 and also a sim access profile. Is thids included oin the 2005 op system? You may have guessed that I am new to this!!
Cheers

Certain apps can't connect, strange...

Hi,
Data connection runs pretty well on my M3100 but not with two particular apps which are WLM and Resco FTP addin.
With WLAN, WLM works perfectly but not Resco FTP.
What should I do? hard reset?
Thanks for your answers.
I just went back from a hard reset and it has no effect...
im having the same concern actually. ive switched from 3g's latest rom to black satin from jasjamming and have the same concern with the Windows Live. the initial synch went fine and emails were deliverd. but, since then i get a synch failed message each time. if you figure it out, please let me know and i will do the same. thanks
Try messing arround with FTP parameters; try connect using passiv mode, ...
I've already tried this...as adviced on resco faq.
Nothing more...
Now Resco FTP works through WLAN, don't know really why but...it's ok
However that's still not working through Data.
Resco FTP and WLM do work with WLAN so this means that the real issue is the data connection.

how exactly would i go about changing the FTP parameters. i know it's the file transfer protocol but don't know where or how to mess with these parameters? thanks
I made it!!!
Everything works now.
Here is what I did :
First, remove the OrangeWorld connection w/proxy that Schap's tool auto generate and manualy create a new OrangeWorld connection w/o proxy.
Second, remove the specific connection for WLAN and AS that the wiki advices.
That's all !!!
ps: The first part is pretty specific to my carrier but maybe the second point will be enough to solve your problems.

ok, so excuse me guys. but, im still a little confused. i know where the WLAN connections are and the only one i see is the connection for media net. is there something im missing? could you give a more detailed description of what you did second? and sorry im not grasping what you are advising of : )
If you look in the wiki for schap's 3.54b rom :
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Cooked_ROMs_QA_Schaps357b
It is said that to solve the connection issue with WLAN and AS you have to create another connection.
I did that and in fact this was the cause of my problems.
I removed this connection and now everything's fine. But if you did not create this connection then I believe your problem deals with something else, maybe your carrier settings.
ok,thanks much.

Modem Link on WM6

I have tried a few roms with the wm6 modem link and even installed the wireless modem cab on the official tytn rom but its not being detected on the computer. anyone knows how to make this work? my internet sharing option keeps disconnecting after a few minutes hence this request
The problem with internet sharing is that activesync always starts, causing a drop of the connection.... I found this workarounds working the most time but not always :
When you don´t use push define a fake exchange server, sync all items (it will give an error of cause) then disable all syncing items.
This should prevent async from start!
If you need push like me then try the following:
Disable in active sync setting on both units (PC and PPC) USB connection. Set your exchange sync schedule to manual.
Softreset your device. Go straight to internetsharing. BEFORE!!! you connect to USB start your sharing THEN connect to USB. This works most of the time.
I found the bluetooth PAN connection to be more stable, but it has a significant performance hit when you have HSDPA. For only UMTS,bluetooth has enough bandwith.
Sorry if my english isn´t that good.
Bye
thanks for the advice, i noticed bluetooth did not perform not so well with hsdpa despite stability.
let me try your remedies and will give you feedback and even buy you a beer
Some more advices
Some more advices:
When you use internetsharing disable poweroff and screen blanking. I don`t know how screen blanking interferes with the sharing but i noticed, when the screen gets dark the connevtion got lost. And I use a ttle tool KillAsync on my Hermes. It closes Async for more memory. A last hint: in system-connections-usb to pc enable or disable -depending what is activated- advanced network funktions.
So, now i have no more hints. I tried Usb Modem link too, but got it never working , unfortunately. And i think, a seriell over USB connection like the modem link is to slow for hsdpa.
Looking forward the beer ;-)
