messaging config file? Help! - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Yeah, well I setup an email account in messaging called "eMail" and I can send/recieve email via gprs, well the account is having some problems, if I setup a different account like eMail2, its fine. so I tried removing "eMail" and it was fine until I soft resetted, it just keeps coming back, is there anyway to get rid of it in some sort of config file? I really don't feel like hard resetting!

Go to messaging\Setup E-mail and just use automatic setup and it will connect via POP3.
Doesn't work POP3 either, I did it before and nothing....I was searching on internet and most of peoples said that use IMAP4 but nothing....
I'd like if anyone that has proxy 5.99 TMO has been configured GMAIL on WM6.1
What server are you using guyz???
I have gmail setup on kavana's 6.1 rom also using tzones 5.99 for internet. works fine. Im just using the regular pop and smtp settings
What option do you have for the server...Internet?
with that doesn't work mine and I change for: T mobile MMS, T mobile Data, work....doesn't work either
I have mine set to work.
I have the same problem. I have the unlimited plan and I get the "connection error" and I it asks for my login and password over and over. I only have this problem with 6.1. I have tried the T-mobile email plugin, and the other 3 ways of adding an email account.
Wierd thing is, I backed up my 6.0 data before the swap to 6.1 with Sprite backup. When I restore to the 6.1 I get me email back and it works fine, problem is that it really screws up most of the stuff I got with 6.1.
I also have the same issue.
My Yahoo and Gmail worked fine on 6.0.
6.1 Yahoo refused to work until just the other day...It has not worked since the 6.1 install until now...
Gmail will not work either no matter what... It did download the headers, but it shows nothing and will not work otherwise...
if you guys want tell me the screens you need and ill get you the settings that work for me.
I tried a lot of option and nothing guys, let see what I do....I did POP & IMAP and nothing..I tried Yahoo and doesn't work either instead they work fine through IE.
I did it POP as default and "works" sometimes, when you click on send/receive gave you the Connection ERROR....and when the system did by itself work good ( I think)...
ERROR....." The remote party has ended this connection"...
I go a new messajw
"The remote party has ended this connection"....
Does anyone has this message before?
just out of curiosity do you have pop turned on thru gmail?
Off course....
And I have setting up to "work" too
When I push (send/receive) gave that error...
Only download automatically messages twice when it's wants....
What do you recommend me to do?

Gmail Problems

Hi guys,
Just need a bit of help as Im having a few problems setting up my gmail accounts.
I set up a gmail account when I first got the fone and everything worked fine. Now its stopped downloading my mail...
Ive checked my settings with the ones on the gmail website and deleted and resetup the account but to no avail.
When I force the account to receive mail (and even when I dont) it goes through the motions and connects to my account, downloading headers etc but its as though there is nothing residing on the server. Ive checked if Ive deselected the option to leave mail on the gmail server after viewing it on my pc but it seams fine.
I can send mail.
Help!
Im a bit thick in all honesty and could be missing something obvious but now its a case of not seeing the wood for the trees.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Damian.
Set it up as IMAP. You can find help for that from gmail help.
then it works
imap.gmail.com
imap4
smtp.gmail.com
make sure you use those settings
Still no joy with this, gonna go through the settings again but Im stumped as to why its not working anymore.
Could be there's a very large message in the inbox that's blocking the download. The HD won't download large files unless you tell it to.
gmail uses pop not imap?I had same problem but solved it by going into gmail account settings and enabling pop3

Help. Can't send emails.

I've been successfully using my email on the TP2 for months but suddenly find I cannot send emails from my accounts. It may be that I have deleted something in the registry by mistake or accidentally changed some configuration. Before I wipe clean and re-install everything (a daunting thought), is there something obvious I might be overlooking? (Stock 6.1 ROM, SPB shell)

We'll probably need a little more information to go on...
-What happens when you try to send? Any error messages etc?
-What "accounts"? Using the regular WM e-mail client? POP3/Imap?
-What carrier are you with? The first step will probably be to double check the standard e-mail account/network settings, the latter of which are particular to each carrier.
-Have you confirmed that you can receive e-mail to any/each of the accounts you can't send from?

More information: I have set up gmail accounts (Imap) on the standard WM email system. When I press the "send" key, it highlights but nothing else happens. The page remains as it is. I can receive mails but cannot send. I have checked the network settings and all is fine. As I said, it's been working well for months, but suddenly not. I have recently been setting up the phone with new programs and minimal registry tweaks but can think of nothing that conflicts. Is there something obvious I'm missing? Or some settings I should check?
FYI...
I had the same problem recently. I have the Tilt2 and have a Hotmail and AT&T accounts on it. Like davidgee said, everything worked fine and then all of a sudden, I couldn't send any emails. Hotmail is my main email and I would get a Windows Live app window saying that the email couldn't be sent and to try again later. (A couple of times it would tell me that my time wasn't set correctly and to check it then try resending the email. Still not sure what that has to do with it.) This lasted for about two weeks and now it is working fine.
Something I did try was changing my AT&T settings on the phone. Originally it was using the default settings that the phone received from somewhere. When I noticed the problem, I went and changed the POP3 and SMTP addresses to what was listed in the AT&T email help site. I could then send emails, but only from my AT&T account.
I wasn't able (or couldn't figure out how) to change the settings for my Hotmail account. The settings would automatically go to the Windows Live app included with the phone.

Yeah, if it's not even making it as far as your inbox or drafts folder, then it doesn't sound like it's even trying to send it, so the network settings may not have anything to do with it.
Have you confirmed that the outgoing server is still set to smtp.gmail.com:465? Also I do notice a checkbox for "send/receive when I click Send" in the e-mail setup dialogs, just making sure you saw and confirmed that one too.
I'd give it a couple of days before considering anything like a hard reset, just in case it ends up clearing itself up like jcterry experienced. Other than that, the only other thing I might suggest is deleting the account off your phone, then re-creating it again from scratch.

Send/Receive not Receiving, but its sending.

Hello, I'm a bit confused at this problem. I just yesterday upgraded to WinMo 6.5. Seems to be working fine except my gmail account isn't working right. (It was working on 6.1). When I click send/receive, it doesn't download any messages (even though I have download messages from last 3 days).
It just says: Connecting, logging on, looking for changes, finished.
However, when I *send* e-mails, they recipients get them.
What am I doing wrong?? I didn't use exchange or outlook or any of that stuff. When I was setting up my phone from startup I Just put in my userID and password.
Also another side question: I Would like to install a custom rom, but since the devs are updating and making fixes very often... how am I to update them? Would I have to hard reset and install it all over again for the minor bug fixes?
Thanks
are you using pop3 and not imap for fetching the messages?
did you setup the account by typing server addresses or by selecting gmail.
you are probably using POP3 and those missing messages get downloaded already to your PC.
imap is working more smoothly for me. is more advanced and newer, just it could take little more data.
set the account manually, you have to go around little to do so, on first screen, when asked to put your email address, mistype it, don't put gmail there for now. "[email protected]"
go through all settings, set it to imap and then go back through option to edit that account and fix your address.
-don't forget to allow imap access in your gmail account through web-mail in internet browser
if you insist on POP3, chenk other devices you use for mail if there is "leave messages on server" option ON
i am not quite sure now, been not using POP on gmail for a long time, but I have a feeling that gmail's interpretation of POP is IGNORING "leaving messages on server" option, so having 2 devices POPing mail is not possible and you'll need to use IMAP at least on one

you have only three options
1. ignore updates
2. just download updated app and install it over the old one.
- not recommended if you don't know about how OEMs are working,
2. yes update always and then you can have a lot of different tools to help you get back where you finish with the old one. backup/restore, provisioning scripts, reg files. and though you will need to set quite a few things first time, to match your needs and private settings, after that, every time you flash or format, you are where you've been.
I made couple of them too, packup is working just fine for me,
you can try sdautorun and place your settings in CABs on SD card too.
Thank you, it seemed to work. I had deselected and reselected Imap, did a send/receive and nothing happened. Set my phone to charge and then I come back and all my e-mails had been downloaded.
Thanks for the custom rom info. I think I'll just stick on stock 6.5 for now. If the ram usage gets too much then I'll go for energy rom.

[Q] Email account issues post ROM flash

OK so I'm having some odd problems after I flashed the Gingersense ROM. Right after I flashed the ROM the add email account screen was missing all of the standard options I had seen before. So, I restored the data to the mail app using Titanium Backup. That worked for a little while. Then I needed to change my email password.
When I tried to go in and change my Yahoo password, it said it failed to communicate with the server. When I tried to delete the account I keep getting the same error. 504 0:null
Anyone have any idea what that means? Can I somehow reinstall the mail app? will that help or should I try reflashing the ROM?
And before anyone pokes fun at a person still using Yahoo, I've had that account for a lot longer than gmail has even existed.
Edit: Just did a nondroid backup to the original froyo, still broken!
As an additional piece of info, I keep getting emails from [email protected] saying that my account "could not be authenticated" though those are the only emails coming in to that account
In case anyone runs into the same problem, I thought I would post how I finally got it at least halfway back to normal.
I ended up having to run the factory reset, which wiped out all of the accounts that synced to my phone.
After running the setup and tying my google account back to my phone, the gmail account never showed up in my email.
It still won't let me setup an email using the quick account type shortcuts, only with the POP/IMAP shortcut. I was able to get both my yahoo and my gmail back up and working, though I am missing the nice little icons for the accounts I had seen previously.

Oh and in the process I also somehow lost the desktop dock app.
