Weird 'Orange MMS' issue - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hey there,
I have an Orange SPV M2000 (unlocked), which I did a hard reset on, and then did a soft reset before the custom applications could install. I then downloaded the custom applications from your FTP site, and installed all of the non-Orange ones. I then, used the Permanent Storage tool, to recover my T-Mobile GPRS connection settings.
I then set up T-Mobile MMS in the MMS settings. The only problem is, in the SPB GPRS connection monitor, one of the connections to monitor is 'Orange MMS', and also, in the Wireless Manager, one of the GPRS settings is 'Orange MMS'.
In the Connections options, I can't see any mention of 'Orange MMS', nor can I in the MMS settings options. Can anyone point me in the right direction, as to how I can remove the 'Orange MMS' connection details?
I also noticed my SPB GPRS monitor jump up from about 4Kb to 100Kb, when I don't recall using any applications. I noticed a similar thread about this on these forums, with no answer.

I apologize, I think I have fixed it myself.
Looking in Advanced under connections, then 'Select Networks', I believe I managed to remove it.
Still doesn't explain why my GPRS monitor jumped up by 100k.
EDIT: I removed the 'Orange MMS' setting, from 'Select Networks'. I then did a soft reset. It didn't help things. GPRS connection monitor, and wireless manager can still see Orange MMS. Where can I remove it?

WIFI and GPRS - QTEK 9090

Hello
When I'm using Wifi, on the top of the screen there is an icone with a "W" saying that if I loose the Wifi signal, it will connect via GPRS.
But, I want to control my GPRS connection and consequently control the way that this option is configured in my Qtek: so it will not connect via GPRS if I loose Wifi signal.
Do you know how to proceed?
Thanks.
Same question!
I just add myself to this, with the same question.
Andre
Same here
Somehow my SIM card was associated with an old GPRS plan from several years ago.... at 25€ per MB!!! How do I turn this off before it costs me another 100 €?
TOP
To the person with the SIM Card issue and the high GRPS Charges:
Shouldnt you be contacting your Service Provider and asking them to take you off this plan?
This won't be anything you can do with the hardware.
Maybe an acceptable workaround :
I configured the connection settings
start->settings->connections -> advanced
select networks : both drop-down boxes are set to
"my work network"
This prevents the automatic gprs connections.
If you want gprs you can use the wireless manager
(start->programs->wireless manager)
and there tap the red gprs icon
configuring Wifi as the default Internet connection
Dear Paranoid
Thanks -- your tip did the trick. I was frustrated looking for a solution,
received endless (and usekess) advice such as" turn on the flight mode" or even worse "you should remove the SIM"
Once again Thank You!

Question about internet access

I'm quite sure I have my xda iis configure incorrectly.
When I go into connections. There is only one entry. That is "my work network". I have my isp set up in there so I can access the internet via gprs.
This works perfectly. I have outlook checking my email every 5 mins.
Here's the problem.
When I connect it to my computer, it still checks for email, but it doesn't use gprs, it looks like it uses the network my computer is on. (which is great!)
Now, the problem I'm having is when I disconnect it from the cradle gprs does not start back. it says its using the grps connection, but never connects. (I can tell that it's not doing anything because the computer speakers dont' make their normal noises when the phone is communicating with my wireless provider).
Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong? do i need to provide more information?
Download the pdf file from PapaDocta's post in 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=21876'. Your Connections screen should actually look like shown in the picture below. I actually needed a hard reset coz I had checked the "network connections" in the non volatile memory, and it kept loading earlier settings which caused the problem. A hard reset, and following the instructions in the pdf sorted my internet access problems out!

Problems after o2 Rom Upgrade

I have had a couple of problems with the upgrade to the new o2 rom.
1) I can be actively connected to a wireless lan network, but connecting to the internet will always default to the 3G option even though I have a good wireless lan signal. O2 data support now want me to do a hard reset...so prefer to see if there are any other options available.
2) My Pocket Plus icons will occasionally revert to the traditional windows icon so that one cannot determine which program is behind the symbol. Soft resetting may clear this, but not always...Yet for all this I have plenty of memory, both storage and program.
I am therefore wondering whether there are some conflicts with the new rom and my applications such as Pocket Plus...Also there is apparently no option on the exec to prefer the wireless lan as a default way of connecting to the internet...
Any advice much appreciated before I do another hard reset.
Thanks.
I've had issues with the Connections in both 2003 and 2005 - my solution to the problem you describe was to:
1. Setup the "My Work Network" to use the settings from "My ISP" rather than the "O2 Active" settings.
2. Ensure that it has the "This network connects to the Internet" enabled, and "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" disabled.
3. Select "My Work Network" for both options under "Select Networks".
This should basically give you a system that will use Wireless if available, or 3G if not.
Cheers,
Steve.
Thanks, sorted wi-fi connection
Yep, had the wireless network connected to 'work' rather than 'the internet', so its back working as it should. Disappointingly O2 data support could not have told me that and with your help I was saved a needless hard reset. Just need to sort out the icon situation, but perhaps that is more of a software conflict...

wm6 internet problem

Ever since i installed wm6 (black dymond or black 3.1), I can not connect to the internet using wifi.
It show i am connected to my router with good signal, but can not access any web site using IE. I am not connecting thry a proxy.
Can anyone help?
what carrier are you using
Try to disable the proxy and see what happens...long time problem for Cingular/At&t users...
If it's just throught WiFi that you have a problem then go to Settings / Connections / WiFi
Then click on the tab for Network Adaptors and ensure that the drop-down shows ... "My network card connects to: The Internet".
There is another more detailed explanation of this elsewhere in the forums - may need to search to find it.
Multiple proxies...ugh
I'm not sure which proxy you are talking about...but on my WM6, I had to go into the Windows menu -> Programs -> Proxy Manager -> and select Disable Proxy for my Wifi to work. It seems like this program shortcut is independent from "Connections" proxy settings.
Try that and see if it works. It fixed my problem.

Click to collapse
I will try the proxy manger.
I do have the connect to "the internet" box checked under Wifi tab.
not linked to black only
After a lot of effort I can now connect to a secure network but have no internet either. With a unsecure network I have no problems with the internet. strange. I have tried a few roms and for me they all share this problem.
I do not have a seperate program for proxy server to disable!!
When I tried the Black Dymond, I downloaded Custals Proxy cabs as I had the same issue. Here it is....
I have black 3 and I have the same problem. When I connect to an unsecure and opened wifi, I am cannot connect with ie. I am getting "page is not found'.
I do not have the proxy manager in programs. I have selected 'internet' for wifi. any solutions?

[Q] Wi-Fi & Apps

Hi there,
I am using my friend's old HTC Touch Pro 2 as my phone decided to jump into a glass of water.
I have set everything up but my apps (facebook, marketplace, ...) don't seem to use my wifi. I have tested this by turning off my 3G connection and trying the apps. They report, that I have to check my internet connection.
Under Wireless controls > Menu > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks there is a choice of what connection should be used for programs that connect to the internet automatically. But as I go further into these settings it only allows changes for the 3G connection. I'm not sure if this is even the correct settings.
Can anyone shed any light on any kind of solution?
Thanks in advance.
In 2015 still no answer - and I have the same probleme on my HTC TOUCH PRO2 (RHODIUM100).
Hopefully there is a genius that can answer this now

In connection manager - did you check if wifi is turned on?
Hi B-44, yes and i have no probleme connecting and surfing the net with opera or IE.
I looked further in to this, so when I go to settings>All Settings>Connections:
In advanced Network I have turned OFF both HSDPA and HSDPA/HSUPA by choosing disable - Don't like extra charges, since I don't have data plan on this number.
In Comm Manager, only Phone and Wi-Fi is ON
In Connections, there is only these options:
Add a new modem connection
Add a new VPN server connection
Set up my proxy server
Still in Connections>Advanced>Select Networks>Network Management> "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should be using:" The options are:
Lebara MMS
Lebara Internet
My Work Network
My ISP
Lebara is my phone company.
- Dailing rules
- Exceptions
-- None that I can see has anything to do with Wi-Fi. Its mostly modem or VPN. I can't add a Wi-Fi connection here unless its something cryptic as setting up an VPN or Proxy server.
Facebook, wAppstore, Windows Live, Youtube, twitter - can't connect.
Opera, IE, Bing, GetJar - can connect without trouble.
I can login to Facebook through Account Manager, but the App installed won't connect to the net.
I'm a bit lost here How is your phone set up?
JBJ
Will take a look.
btw- which system is your Rhodium running with?
WM 6.5 Professional - CE os 5.2.21887 (Build 21887.5.0.86)
I had asked just to be shure...
Now- i don't really have a solution.
As your browsers work using wifi it may be the apps.
On my wm phones i used to install SPB weather.
Some months ago on all of them SPB data update started to fail
and never ever worked again. No matter if on wm5, 6.0 or 6.5.
I couldn't find any hint or solution.
If you search the web "windows mobile facebook supported" you'll find
some entrys which won't please you.
I presume there's no solution to us using wm.
Hi again, actually I'm not so concerned about FB since I hardly use it - its more the other apps that concerns me. Like the Wappstore, Omarket, and so on, I just added FB because its built in. It would seem that there are programs that cannot, use Wi-Fi - but rather want to use 3G.
Is there someone in this forum who know how to make a registry fix or program(.exe or .cab) to re-direct programs to Wi-Fi instead of always going for the 3G net? I would be nice with a switch where you can flip between 3G and Wi-Fi, just like the Curvefish 3G On/Off widget for android http://curvefish.com/widgets/2g3g-onoff.htm
With kind regards
JBJ
I'm still searching When I have a solution I will post it here
Thanks for you effort
With kind regards
JBJ
Hi, I never found a solution - so I guess you need a data plan to use this phone with the FB and other apps that don't like to use wi-fi.
With kind regards
JBJ
