Hi,
I'm trying to set up ,y XDA IIS to access gprs, but i cant see how to do it at all, ive tried putting all the O2 settings but it just doesnt work, I'mon o2 prepay, any ideas?!
Thanks!
James
Hi,
I've done a bit of research and thought I'd post the results incase anyone else had the same question!
If you are using a PRE-PAY sim card in your XDA IIS it looks like O2 have been very helpfull and blocked access to all websites exceot their own O2 Active service.
If you want to conenct your XDA IIs to O2 Active Internet with your Pre PAy SIM here are the settings....
Homepage: http://pda.o2.co.uk/
APN address: prepay.o2.co.uk
Username: prepay
Password: password
In the advanced menu set.....
DNS Servers: 193.113.200.200
and 193.113.200.201
So it looks like my XDA IIs will be useless in terms of getting onto the internet with the PrePay SIM, i'll have to try and think of how else i can get it on the web.
Thanks
James
i use a dual sim one o2 contract and one prepay. i connect to gprs fine on both sims, i just made 2 different settings, check this thread out its the one i used to sort mine:

i always get this error message:
The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings.
i have already set my gprs/mms settings. i tried using my sim on another fone and i was able to send/receive mms. anyone encountered this error?
btw, any smart users here using xda 2s? any one of you having problems sending/receiving mms and accessing gprs? i used the automatic configuration whenever the phone performs a hard reset (xda 2s phone bought from smart has an automatic configuration both for smart and globe). i also tried using the cab file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20826.
tnx!
Try a manual setting -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=21900 has a Virgin setting tutorial. That might help!
Dilip, I noticed that you live in India and would like to know if you have GPRS working. If so, what carrier are you using? I'm using Hutch and was told that they didn't support GPRS on Pocket PC phones, which is hard to believe..
Cingular
I am looking for help with GPRS/MMS on an XDA IIs activated on Cingular.
contact your service provider they will give you your gprs and mms settings. im thinking we should have a sticky for this.

Hello
I have an XDA2 which I unlocked using the link from the site. I have now put a pay as you go T-Mobile (EasyMobile) sim card in which works fine for phone use. I am having difficulty getting it set up as Easymobile say they only provide WAP - can I use this and is so where can I put in the settings they have given me - Has anyone done this already?
Thanks in advance

I have recently bought an XDA II privately and unlocked it so I can use my Orange SIM. The problem is I cannot use the GPRS facility despite trying various settings. I have contacted Orange "Customer Service" who said I must sort it out with O2 as it it not an Orange phone. I fear I am being fobbed off. I suspect the "O2 Active Interface" is restricting this operation. Do I really need an O2 account?
Can anyone help, please?
Tony. :?:
Re: Orange settings
There is a post in The Alpine section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26725 This has a file which sets up the orange stuff. I guess it is for the contract GPRS etc. You can get the PayT from the I-Mate FTP site.
I have an unlocked o2 XDA orbit, and i have put my o2 pay and go simcard in it, now the GPRS wouldnt work as the settings arnet there because they say they dont support it on pay and go, is there anyway for me to get o2 GPRS on my XDA orbit to work with pay and go ???
Any help will be much appretiated,
appologies if this is the wrong section.

Matt Bleasby

Did you read the thread, you would see it is for O2.
Why bother asking if you can't be bothered to READ the reply.
Ok Guys i struggled with this for a few days as o2 said they dont support the phone! Anyhow i managed to get it working via HTC HD2 settings - typical Mobile operators!
Please ensure that when entering O2 into the settings that the letter O is selected and not a zero.
2. Tap Settings
3. wireless & networks
4. mobile networks
5. Access point names
6. click menu add new
7. you dont need to fill in all the fields
8. Enter a name for the connection of O2 Mobile Web
9. Select modem type, choose Cellular Line (GPRS)
10. next
11. Enter the Access point name (APN) of mobile.o2.co.uk
12. Next
13. Enter the Username of o2web
14. Enter the password of password
15. click menu and save
Just to clarify, is this for 3G access in the UK? Contract or PAYG or both?
Thanks, because my O2 PAYG SIM will be arriving in time for me to use it with my Desire when it finally arrives...

Morning
I believe the APN will be
payandgo.o2.co.uk
for a PAYG Sim
It's reported that the Desire is coming to O2 on the 29th or April, hopefully they will be able to provide more support at that time.
I also had an issue with the Data Services settings with my O2 sim inserted. Each time I tried to connect via Wi-Fi to the Android marketplace, to log in you are required to sign in to your active Google account. I had one setup from long ago but I kept receiving an error stating that provisioning for Data Services was required and could not connect to the Google Server. I contacted O2 and stated that I was not able to automatically download O2 settings Data Services settings, they stated it was because they (O2) do not support this feature yet as they do not provide support the Desire, but they do provide automatic download of sim card settings for the HD2 atm.
I am in an area that has no 3G too.

Thanks for the info. I had got it from my other phone but forgot to update this thread...
When I stuck my O2 SIN in, it asked whether I was O2 monthly, PAYG or Tesco mobile and configured itself automatically. My SIM is only about a year old so if you have a really old SIM, it may be worth asking it to be swapped for a new one?

Are you using O2 PAYG (Prepay) and is it a 3G sim card?

Hey itsamac,
thanks for that handy bit of information, I have tried a newer sim card and now it seems to work with no problems and the data services are functioning as they should
I am currently in the process of transferring my current (old) number to a new sim card:

Nope on O2 Simplicity 20 and yes its a 3G card. I got last Easter.
Glad to hear you managed to sort it out.
can anyone confirm if o2 payg internet settings will work with the Desire or not?
I was told by o2 they didn't support the Desire on payg and so wouldn't be able to give me the settings.
Thanks
I'm on the o2 simplicity contract but my SIM card is 2G. They said they were sending me a new one but it's been over a week now. I'll give them a call today.
What can I expect different from my new 3G sim? Is it a faster connection?
