I have recently bought an XDA II privately and unlocked it so I can use my Orange SIM. The problem is I cannot use the GPRS facility despite trying various settings. I have contacted Orange "Customer Service" who said I must sort it out with O2 as it it not an Orange phone. I fear I am being fobbed off. I suspect the "O2 Active Interface" is restricting this operation. Do I really need an O2 account?
Can anyone help, please?

Re: Orange settings
There is a post in The Alpine section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26725 This has a file which sets up the orange stuff. I guess it is for the contract GPRS etc. You can get the PayT from the I-Mate FTP site.

Hi all,
I've checked out the forums but can't find a direct answer to this, and I'm sorry if it has been discussed before.
I bought an XDAII whilst I was in Malaysia, and now having returned to the UK I find that GPRS and various other phone components won't work correctly (I have checked the settings and just can't enter all of the correct settings provided by my service provider Vodafone).
My questions are:
1. Does anyone know how to correctly set the GPRS settings for a UK network on an XDA from the far east?
2. Would applying a UK XDA software upgrade solve the issue or are there differences in the hardware in different parts of the world.
3. Can the UK upgrade be succesfully applied to an Asian XDA, or will it (as I fear) render the phone useless?
Many thanks for the help.
Rory
Yes you can do that , I already have XDAII from Malaysia and i upgrade it to O2 UK ROM the new ver.

Thanks 'pqft'.
Do you have any problems connecting to GPRS for email and MMS? I am with Vodafone, and can connect for internet exploring, but cannot send or receive emails, no MMS messages. Any ideas?
Thanks
Rory
did you put in all the settings for pop3
and for mms ?
I have a malaysian vers too,and MMS and Email work perfectly with my Italian provider...but i'm unable to upgrade my phone with the O2uk new rom, i get a COUNTRY ERROR CODE.
Any hint?
Hi,
I'm trying to set up ,y XDA IIS to access gprs, but i cant see how to do it at all, ive tried putting all the O2 settings but it just doesnt work, I'mon o2 prepay, any ideas?!
Thanks!
James
Hi,
I've done a bit of research and thought I'd post the results incase anyone else had the same question!
If you are using a PRE-PAY sim card in your XDA IIS it looks like O2 have been very helpfull and blocked access to all websites exceot their own O2 Active service.
If you want to conenct your XDA IIs to O2 Active Internet with your Pre PAy SIM here are the settings....
Homepage: http://pda.o2.co.uk/
APN address: prepay.o2.co.uk
Username: prepay
Password: password
In the advanced menu set.....
DNS Servers: 193.113.200.200
and 193.113.200.201
So it looks like my XDA IIs will be useless in terms of getting onto the internet with the PrePay SIM, i'll have to try and think of how else i can get it on the web.
Thanks
James
i use a dual sim one o2 contract and one prepay. i connect to gprs fine on both sims, i just made 2 different settings, check this thread out its the one i used to sort mine:
follow the settings towards the end of the thead.

Hi,
I got my O2 Orbit a day before leaving the UK for Qatar so didn't get a chance to suss this out before I left.
I'm still running on my O2 sim etc. When I arrived the GPRS doesn't register and the GPRS/internet connections etc all keep asking for a modem setup.
Qtel is the operator here but talking to them about roaming internet/gprs connectivity with an xda is fruitless.
I can't get much help out of O2 either....There's got to be a way, there has to be a way.....
Can anybody help at all? Please?
try this
After two or three trips away with o2 device and lots of calls back to the uk my solution was to go through all available networks one at a time and force the device to try data connections I still need to do this five years on even after telling o2 how to connect
I would like to change network provider from O2-Vodafone but still use my Orbit. Will this work and how would I stop it automatically installing the o2 GPRS settins?
Thanks
hi, i purchased a O2 XDA orbit about 3 weeks ago and the person i purchased it from said it was locked to O2. When i recieved the phone it worked straight away with the vodafone sim card. after reading a few threads it seems as tho the O2 XDA orbit's are unlocked already?
i'm not sure how to stop the O2 settings from starting but im sure i seen somewhere that if you soft reset by pressing the little button on the side with a pin as soon as the o2 settings start that should bypass it??
i cid unlocked mine and flashed the Touch 3 vanilla rom and its running sweet with pocketPBplus 4.0.
it automatically setup the settings for vodafone and i can send and recieve mms and also browse online thru the vodafone gprs
hope this helps as its my first post!

Hi, I have a problem with my O2 Xda Orbit not connecting to any mobile network.
I have tried O2, vodafone and orange sims, but all the same, the searching for network
icon nerver connects. The device details are:-
Rom version 3.4.206.2 WWE
Rom date 4/18/7
Radio version 03.06.90
Protocol version 4.1.13.50
Ext Rom version 3.4.206.103
I'm quite happy with everything else on the device, gps works, Wi-Fi works
TomTom works, it's just that I can't make or receive phone call or texts.
In the O2 connection settings my only option is:-
O2 UK Post Pay_GPRS
I have tried the auto configuration, but still no luck.
Do I need to upgrade just the radio?
Any help greatly appreciated.
(if this has already been dealt with, could someone point me in right direction?)
Thank You
After further research it seems I am the victim of an insurance scam, I bought this phone off ebay in good faith, but it seems it has been blocked by uk networks, most likely because it was reported as lost or stolen and claimed on insurance.
