USSD - How to turn off annoying sounds? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

On vodacom I dial *111# for a USSD menu that allows me to check account balances etc.
It makes an anoying "synching" sound. I don't want to turn off sound on my device just for this particular annoyance. Any ideas?

Are you sure it's the USSD menu?
Mine doesn't (just checked), and neither did my Qtek 1010 (Although it coped poorly with the feature).
Granted, I'm not using a Blue Angel, and my i-mate is ROMmed to the hilt, but surely the menu should just trigger a sound event (that I certainly don't have) which you can switch off?
Does it do the same when you Look4It (*120*5555# I think) ?

Yup I'm sure, makes a very loud and anoying sound upon connecting to USSD. The window title says USSD as well.

Hello! it's a quite old topic, but probably someone still need a solution:
The sound is specified here:
HKСU\ControlPanel\Sounds\USSDBuzz\

Incoming or outgoing calls not possible unless soft reset.

Hello. My first posting. I have looked to see if this has already been asked.... After using mute or vibrate function on my XDA 2s unit, and then switching to making a call or trying to receive a call I can't hear the dial tone, or the other person on the other end of the call. I can only make and receive calls once I soft reset the unit. This is becoming a regular occurence. Any ideas would be much apprecaited.

same problem
I also have same problem. my XDA IIs often have a problem with the incoming/outgoing calls which is I can't hear the tone nor the person's on the other end of the call (but the person on the other end of the call could hear my voice). It often (not always) happens without the device had a recent setting change or running program so on one occassion it just handles the calls perfectly and suddenly the problem happens and I also have to soft-reset it to make it back to normal, and it is becoming regular.
This is unfortunately a well known bug that none radio upgrade could solve so far...
Look at : http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40417
The problem seems to occur only when Bluetooth is off... So the solution is to turn Bt On (and then off if you wish so) and it's ok without soft reset...
The best way to avoid it is to let Bt ON but to uncheck "Allow other devices to detect me" (forgive me if the english translation is not accurate but my PocketPC is in French) in the Bt parameters to avoid power consumption.
It worked for me so have a try

Volume regulation

Hi,
We've got two volume regulations in BA: one for ringtone, other for system (mda clicks etc..). The problem here is, that though i don't want to have any clicking and other sounds or have their volume low, I want to keep my message incoming sound high.
Is there a way to solve it? - Incoming message sound volume depending on Incoming call volume?
Robert
Hi Belcik,
You can turn off all this click etc. from windows in:
Start -> Settings -> Personal Tab -> Sounds & Notification
if this is what u meant
Unfortunatelly not....
This is what I mean: I cannot set all volumes in BA to minimum, except incoming calls and messages.
For calls is separate slider, for overall BA volume is another. When i set ringing to max, other phone sounds to minimum, the sound of incoming message will be set to minimum as well, and the only way to have it louder is to move slider of overall BA loudness (with all other BA sounds) to max...
That's the problem
Or maybe it's just the ROM ver??? This one sometimes behaves strange...

Hi Belcik,
My way of solving this will be to remove all not needed sounds (as in my earlier post) and leave only those one You need - like incomming message. I do not know any other way to do it.

or orbit

does anyone know how to stop the o2 notification noise when you send a text message? the one that chimes and then onscreen tells you your balance?
also does anyone know how to get the keyboard to stop autocompleting words (or sudjesting words as i type) as it slows down the input speed of the keyboard
Not sure if this is what you are after:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSNoSentMsg=1 (Dword, ''Settings' key may need to be created) - this disables the "Message Sent" pop-up when sending SMS/MMS
To turn off the auto complete goto Start/Settings/Input and theres a tab for "Word Completion".
tried the autocomplete and it worked but the sms notification couldnt find the registry key. i dont need the bubble removed but just the ding sound everytime i send a text etc to stop it confirming my credit amount by noise ebveytime i use the phone or text etx its the notify wma but i cant change it
simple my friend...

At last - a question I can answer without sounding like a newbie!!!
The balance reminder is a sim feature activated by O2, all you need to do is call PAYG customer services and they will turn it off for you....simple...
Hope this helps....
i wanted the balance reminder to tell me how much credit is left but just wanted the notify sound deactivated cause its so anoying. this is part of the phone and 02 wont be able to just turn of the noise and i cant delete or change the notify.wma tone in windows as it is read only otherwise i could write over with a silent notify.wma tone.
in sounds and notifications under notifications
you can pick messaging: new text message
and uncheck play sound
hi did that but that only stopd the sound on incomming messages but any that i send (and after making a call as well) still set the niose off.

how to "ignore/mute" incomming calls?

heya again.
i've got a P3300 with HTC WM6 (but same happened with WM5)
i was used from my older phones to get this options when a call was incomming:
- answer
- cancel (busy)
- ignore (mute)
now i am missing this last option. sometimes when i get a call, i want to just ignore it, mute the phone (and stop the vibration too) but without giving the caller a "busy" sign.
is that somehow possible?
use the volume slider button and slide downwards
yeah its the volume slider on the top left of the phone
well to clarify as others might get confused like i did.
when ppl. sais "use the volume slider" they don't mean to just slode down the volume. no
i've found out that if i wanted to ignore a call, i just had to tap the slider once, to mute the incomming call and turn of vibration. and it wont affect any sort of volume settings for next incomming calls.
so, thx for your replies, guys.

[Q] End Call Beep

Does anyone know how to get rid of the End Call Beep on the HTC One M8? This loud beep is very annoying.
Thanks!!
Anybody have a clue? This is really annoying to me and I am sure it is to a few others.
Thanks for all help in advance!!!!
It's a carrier thing, you can't remove it.
It is not a carrier issue ... I will try this:

I also had this problem and was only a problem with blue tooth connections. It turned out that I could turn down the volume of bluetooth notifications and alerts so that the beep was quite tolerable. While in a call, push the volume button down or up and a menu pops up, click on the gear or star icon on the right of the pop up menu and it will take you to another menu that you can slide the volumes of notifications and alerts from high your current high level to a lower level.
I was on with HTC today and they wanted me to send them the phone for repair! Fortunately I found this setting that relates only to the bluetooth volumes.
Hope this helps you!

I am sorry to resurrect this dead thread, but I'm having this same problem and I don't use bluetooth headsets... the call status tone for connections is killing me...
I have rooted my phone now and it's not a carrier issue (all HTC one M8 software installs seem to have removed the "Call alerts" branch from Settings>Applications>Phone>Call Alerts>Call Status Tones) so I'm trying to find the xml responsible for these settings so I can disable them there. I wish I had an app that could search xml files for text from root so this would be easier like aGREP only that can search root and xml...
I would leave this thread dead except for the fact that I'm still facing this problem and recently had an ear issue that has made this beep so much more painful... and holding the phone away from my ear while waiting for the beep to pass has caused people to hang up on me
