Hello all, first time user here so please forgive me if I'm duplicating anyones posts.
Our company here in the UK have just started buying the T-Mobile MDAIII, I think they're great buy the battery life is appalling!
Does anyone know if there are higher capacity batteries available here in the UK, and if so where I can source them from?
Thanks,
David.

I have a xda2s (MDAIII) and i spent absolutely ages searching and asking around trying to find the same product but i've managed to find it, (just testing it out now) the stock one is a 1490 Lithium Polymer battery and this extended one i'm trying out is a 2400 Lithium Polymer battery and it is only slightly larger than the stock one and it still fits inside the cradle! It costs 30 GBP. If you want some i might get some more, let me know
go to http://www.gpsforless.co.uk
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=125267
i got 2 2400 mAh batteries for my xda iis, both $30 each which ends up being about €15 pounds each in the uk. i got them on ebay and im on my phone right now =).
I want to buy the 2400 mAh battery but I was thinking, does it fit in the original leather case that comes with the Blue Angel?

I've got no problem fitting it into the bundled case... maybe you could try?
I'll get one of those batteries when I arrive to Dubai. Going there soon. Let's hope the battery life increases a lot!
Hi,
If u are going to Dubai, better get 3300 mAh battery. In India it is available at 3300 Rs...around 80-90 USD..It is slightly bulgy..but its performance is wonderful
Wow I never knew it existed. Thanks.
www.lionbattery.com
Not sure if they ship to the UK, but it gives you an idea of what is out there..
So the 3300 mAh battery fits in the cradle AND the original leather case?
Last I heard the extended battery does fit on the cradle and the case. Oh and it's 3550 mah battery not 3300 mah (that was their older model, this is version 3)
hope this helps
Any charging problem?
Hi! I have purchased ext.battery 2400mah 3 days ago, and met some problem. I can't charge it 100% max - 79% and all my plugins don't understand that it is not its native battery - for example they say (Uptime and other meters also) that it will work for 5-6 hours. In fact it works about 15 hours and more, but I have no actual information as for my battery status.
Has anyone met this problem? And how can I solve it??
Thanks a lot...

so far so good
I purchased a 2400 mah at ebay. It came in yesterday and I had it charge overnight. It did go all the way up to 100%. I'm going to test the hell out of it by watching movies, playing mp3s, wifi, bluetooth, phone, etc.. I'll let you guys know if it's worth it or not. So far I commuted 35 minutes by train this morning and had the phone on and watched an ep of Family Guy on it. When I got to work it was at 98%. I have yet to compare it to my old battery 1490mah. I don't think that it'll be at 98% by the time I get to work. We'll see...
ive been very happy with the 2400mah battery i bought a few weeks ago...got it from here...good price too.

Great news!! The battery is awesome. All day yesterday, Xmas, I shot video, played mp3's, and used the phone. The battery was at 91% when I got home and that's after being on all day long!!

2 weeks earlier bought a 2400mah battery from them, ordered online, arrived in 2 days (on a fast delivery), I have charged it overnight, put it in XDA-IIi on 20 Dec Wednesday 9:00pm still on 51%, I am making 3-4 calls per day of approx 3-4 mins average, Battery came with the back cover because its a bit thicker than the normal 1200/1300mah battery, and it DOES NOT fit in the regular leather pouch. But overall battery is superb.

Looks like my main battery for O2 XDA NEO is dying, maybe WM6 is eating more of my battery power. Now I want to get a replacement battery. Besides the factory type isnt there a newer version and holds more charge too? Not sure about reliability, if anyone can share some of their experinces will be great.

Batteries with Extanded Covers ... THEY SUCKS!
The Cover is crap!
The 1800mAh isnt easy to find ... i think its the best Batterie in the moment. If HTC make a extanded batterie kit ... buy it! I have a Startrek with new Coverer and the Quality is very high!
Do you have a link or a pic of the battery? why the extanded covers sucks can you explain that?

My friends and I are using the 1800mAh batteries from this seller http://search.stores.ebay.com.au/SO...dgetsQQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQsaselZ30323434QQsofpZ0
Comparing to my one year old 1200mAh original battery the results were obvious. I could get more than 90 hours of standby with a few mins of call each day. Something I couldn't have thought of with a PocketPC phone.
It's been about 5 months since my purchase, the battery is still good. I heard from others that non-genuine battery tend to have shortened lifespan in just a few months.
Only about 3 to 5 grams heavier and 1mm thicker (which leaves no space between the back cover and the battery) if you do notice these minute differences. It's crucial that the battery won't make your Prophet any thicker!
My only complain was, if you asked, that it took almost a week for the delivery. Otherwise I'm happy with it.

Maybe WM6 has some bug that is draining your battery so much. I have 1200mA battery and it works 4-5 days before recharging.

update, I have 2 of these 1800mah batteries and each behaving same - they don't appear to be charging. Any wise words?
@roughneck57 : sorry to hear.. especially after purchasing 2. does the battery heat up at all?

forgot to say, battery is not heating up at all - I left it on charge for 3 or 4 hours last night and nothing - however, residual charge is actually powering the PDA so there is life in there. Must be the chip that reports on battery condition and charge etc.
Also, I have tried both in 3 different PDA (m600's) and same problem. One phone has an 1800mah battery purchased from ebay and that looks exactly the same but works fine - so it's not as if the PDA can't handle non-standard size.
Hope this helps.
first of all im sorry if this issue seems to be redundant to all....
im a bit confused to some of the post on this forum regarding this issue...
(so please bear with me...especially to the mods out there)
i do have this battery and it seems that it wont even last for atleast a day...
is this normal for this brand of battery or 4800mAh battery?
how long is the normal standby time for 4800mAh battery?
i also have an original 1620mAh battery and it even last longer than my 4800mAh battery..
can anyone here help me on what to do?
is there anyone in here can prove that 3200 or 1620 is much much better than 4800?
and one more question...i also have a 2 spare 1620mAh battery....
one of it turns off at 75% the other at 21%....
i've tried resetting them both but no of luck..still the same..
is there any other possible way for me to use them and drain them up to 0% or atleast 10%?
thanks in advance!
3200 will last twice as long as 1620; 4800 three times.
However, this is given they are all the same manufacturer. Some batteries are better than others. Cheap eBay batteries are known to give problems - however I have had good as well as bad one's from eBay.
Also, batteries will wear out after a while - I think suggested time is a year or two.
I have four 1620's which last from 50 minutes to 3 hours (constant useage with backlight on). My 3200 lasts 6 hours.
I find that whichever (fully charged) battery is in Uni when I upgrade ROM, will give accurate reading. The reading becomes inaccuate (turning off a x%) when I swap for different battery.
ROM Upgrade & battery
so your saying that when i upgrade or change rom..
1. the battery should be at 100% charge..?
2. and the battery that i used when upgrading should be the one to be used until it drains to 0%? coz when i replace the battery thats the time it will shut off at X%?
is my understanding correct?
if i may ask...what brand of battery would you recommend for a 4800mAh?
and would you recommend 4800mAh?
ive seen DUKE NUKEM's post..he's selling batteries right?im planning to buy 2 pcs of 4800mAh....but the problem is i dont have a PAYPAL account and im a bit confused coz some say 3200 is much better than 4800..and some say 1620 is the best...
thanks for your help sir jonny....
Yes, you are correct.
I don't have a 4800, so can't comment.
Anyone else got a recommendation?
The main reason that people prefer one battery over another is due to the size. Most people seem to like the 1600 because the Universal is fat enough without having a huge battery sticking out the back! Other people may be biased toward a certain capacity because they bought a duff battery.
Personally I'll use a 1600 and carry a spare sometimes... unless I know I'm going to need juice (for a plane trip etc) and I'll stick in my 3200.
what to do on batteries shutting off at x%?
sir jonny do you know a way on how to correct those batteries that shuts off at x%?
coz what im doing is
1.charge the battery to full
2.put an adhesive tape to cover the second connector of the battery
3.then drain the battery using my UNI or using 3 LEDs...
4.charge the battery again to full
the problem is that it still shuts off at x%...
some claims that this corrects the problem..
am i doing the right way or is there any possible way?
ive seen some threads regarding this issue but in my case it dont work..
ive got 3 pcs of 1620mAh with this problem..
thanks again for your help...
Did you charge it with your original charger? If not, you can't get 4800 mah.

im always using the original charger....but if your talking about the initial charging prior to shipping of the battery...i cant answer that because i bought that battery from a friend...and it is a second hand battery..but he told me that he just used the battery once and havent asked about what charger he used.
I have done some efforts regarding battery capacity measurement Just lookup this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5558383#post5558383
I would suggest stay away from the Sino Cameron batts. They simply suck. I have one 1650 and another 4800. Both not very up to stretch, especially the 4800. By all means it does NOT last three times as the standard batt. I'd say perhaps just about two times in reality. Perhaps not. I just keep seeing the batt level dropping fast. Plus the build quality is a real issue. Somehow the 4800 gets too fat and the batt cover cannot completely fit in the slot. Three times the size but just a little power boost. It's cheap, but now I regret having wasting money on them...
Then I switched to Momax. It's just a standard 1500. But it shines! Battery drains pretty slowly and stably (no sudden dropping). It's a bit more expensive than those crappy Camerons, yet it's worth the extra dollars.
Yes, right
It´s always better to go for the original one

If you want a good battery for your Universal, I will suggest you to buy a 3200 mAh battery from ebay, it's the best
Which brand of 3200 batt do you recommend?
I have 2 similar 3200mah batteries but to speak frankly, I used them mainly at home and when I go out I take 2 1620mah batteries with me. The 3200mah is simply too huge & heavy - since the Uni is a big phone, people may find it funny if they see the overal size especially when you are putting it near your cheek when receiving/making calls! You can check this link - the seller also sells cheap 1620mah:

No bro!! Cameron Sino is garbage batery I did buy the samew batery and dont worksmy uni works like a stove and the batery drains faster.
I just found a 1800mAh battery on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.ca/BA750-1800mAh-Ba...218652?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3cb7d4dd9c
I also know that Mugen Power has 1700mAh battery, but I never been Lithium-ion batteries. Thus, I thought to try this one. Anyone else also bought this battery?
or is it just fraud?
Very hard to believe, specially with that sort of price tag !!!
So this thing fits in the normal case?
This looks fantastic. I've been waiting for a normal sized battery with higher capacity
Edit: Although, look at the official SE product page:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/ba750?cc=gb&lc=en#view=overview
Same model number and everything and it's only the 1500 one. Not sure about this :s
just found this one as well and its a very low price for a battery very suspect indeed any one actually got one ? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gadget-Giant-Ericsson-Capacity-Battery/dp/B0057R4Q9C would like to know if these truly exist.
The seller on ebay has selled 73 Pieces :O
Do you think that is the original ba750 with 1800mah
At those prices, I doubt it's original. Moreover, a lot of people fall for such scams because of the price but LOL, in the end, they do add up and make a lot of money for the conman
What I've learnt is that if something seems too good to be true, you're probably right.

Obviously not because BA750 batteries are 1500mAh.
2 things never to buy on ebay: sd cards and batteries.
I have the Mugen 1800 mAh battery for my X10, I just purchased a new ARC .. Will the 1800 Mah X10 battery work in the ARC? I don't believe so, but has anyone checked if the X10 battery works in the ARC ?
Completely different batteries, so they wouldn't be cross-compatible.
The X10 uses a BST-41, the Arc a BA750.
They're actually a different shape, if you've got bot handsets it should be glaringly obvious they're not interchangeable.
I bought this battery as my backup battery; well, travel a lot and have lots of fun with my arc pretty much.
I will let you guys know if it's good or worst than original one. I barely can expect same quality as original one. but we will see!!!!

Thank you the answer
I ordered the battery from obostore and I would say it's a good standby battery to have.
Battery can precharged 60%.
Charge to full and stream video off my nas with full brightness and was able to last 2 hours 45 mins before it shut down with 33% left.
2nd charge and again stream video like above and was able to last 3 hours and 20mins before it shut down with 21% left.
Now is my 3rd charge and will use it as per normal and monitor it's durability.
Btw, battery temperature doesn't reflect correctly as well. Will post more update....

Wanting more battery life and having reading a few positive reviews about the Gold 3500, I got one from Amazon (UK). The numbers 3500 vs 2500 mah indicate I should get around 40% extra battery life compared to stock but having played with RC cars and helicopters running LiPo packs I know that pack ratings aren't everything.
Actual battery capacity depends on the discharge rate, the more juice you pull the less the effective battery capacity you get with a lot of energy wasted in heat due to internal battery resistance. Fact of life with batteries of all chemistry.
My original battery is about 6 months old now, charged daily from anywhere between 0-50% remaining. In day to day use the Gold does seem to last longer based on my 6 months experience with the original battery but how much better is it?
I charged the batteries in my phone and turned the phone off once it hit 100% but kept the charger on as it seemed to charge for a bit longer.
Using my RC battery charger, I used the discharge function setting the low voltage cut off to 3V (standard for lithium batteries) and set the discharge rate at a constant 300 mah. Using a constant discharge rate may not be realistic but it does allow for a fair comparison, keep in mind that our phones power usage jumps up and down depending on use.
Results
-----------
6 month old stock battery rated at 2500 mah = 2364 mah (which is what I would expect from a battery with 180 cycles on it)
Brand new Gold 3500 rated at 3500 mah = 2524 mah (a bit disappointing but at least as good as a new stock battery)
Now the discharge rate can make a big difference to effective battery capacity, it might be that the 3500 mah rating on the Gold batteries was determined using a very low discharge rate or they discharged it to below 3V.....or its just a gold wrapper over a stock battery
Interesting to note that the stock Sammy battery is pretty true to its rated capacity, so the perceived increase in battery capacity I experienced with the Gold battery is probably just the difference between a 6 month old battery and a new one.
Oh well, at least I have a spare battery now and didn't pay a fortune for the Gold. The Gold does seem to last a bit longer than the 6 month old stock on so I am happy enough with it.
Notes:
Gold battery had been in use for 2 weeks to run it in
Only one discharge cycle was performed
Could be that I have a dud battery, you results may differ
In real day to day use the discharge properties of the Gold may result in a higher 'effective' capacity
Solar flares are the source of all coding errors
Fairies do live at the end of your garden :cyclops:
It's a shame i've read this post only two days after buying me one of those. Anyway, even if it won't last longer, i'd still have a spare battery right? So everything is not lost
nope, its a shame they rate it 3500mah if this is the case for all.
Mignon, maybe your can get a replacement from thrm and test again. Especially if you have a dud.
Do notice I notoce a significant increase in battery life after charging it past 100%. Probably placebo, I dont know.
Don't think I have a dud, in my experience lion batteries either work or don't. It's not a crap battery, it's just as good as stock but doesn't match the advertised 3500 mah rating.
And it's shiny gold so things aren't that bad

Well that sucks.....haha...i order a gold a week ago.....it should be here soon.....
I got 3500mah gold battery. I review it.
My rom is ultimate rom v5.1, and my stock battery was 11 months old.
Screen on time was always less than 4 hours.
Yesterday I got the gold battery, and I used it up to 1% without first charge, then I charged it 12 hours to initilize the battery.
So unpluged the charge, and tested it as the same usage. I always downclocked to 1000MHz, wifi on, no use 3g data, brightness is zero, bluetooth and gps is off. I downloaded 15 files and apps today, listened to music, did multi windows function, and almost used web browsing.
Now my battery is just 1%. Screen on time is over 5 and half hours. Obviously the battery was improved.
If official JB are released, the battery will be improved more.
But this is not made in Japan. This is made in China because Japanese is so strange on package.
Some of Chinese battery are so dangerous and may be fake, but this gold battery is good one.

I dropped my stock and it works perfectly till 55% then it dies. Gonna throw it away soon. So some of the cells could be damaged. Its not either they work or dont m8.
@Mingnon thanks for your effortful tests.
@eeynjae, what are all apps spreading around those icons in your notification bar ?
I am pretty sure most mobile 3.7v phone batteries are single cell, only the mugen styled battery extender jobs that require a different back cover run two cells in parallel.
Remaining capacity is usually just a function of cell voltage so it's strange that it should just tank at 55%. Battery protection circuits generally prevent discharge past 3.0 volts so not sure what it's going on there.
Either way it sounds like you need a new battery, wouldn't risk recharging a damaged cell...

yeah its strange. Stuff started to happen at 50, whrn restarting bat percentage dropped to 10-15%. Without restartingbit would go down normally in beginning. Now after using it some time and dropping it its 55%.
Its definitely it either works or doesnt.
Anyway I dont think it's single cell.
i have the same battery bought it a few months back i'am very satisfied....
it's not a 40% extra time even framework it designed to work with less voltage since after using it below 15% i notice always fake meter value, when you keep your phone asleep for half an hour you will notice an increase in percentage. not accurate but runs fine, its a spare and a great replacement i dont care if it's slightly powerful than stock at least its the same size for 4 extra hours.. i never needed to change case nor a cover of anything its great
Sorry for my off-topic question, but i see in this topic there are advised people recently i bought a noname car charger for my Note, (specs: output 5.5V DC, 800mAh) - is this charger good for the Note or it would damage it? (i read somewhere that the original car charger's output is 5V... this difference of 0.5V has any importance?) Thanks.

Results
-----------
6 month old stock battery rated at 2500 mah = 2364 mah (which is what I would expect from a battery with 180 cycles on it)
Brand new Gold 3500 rated at 3500 mah = 2524 mah (a bit disappointing but at least as good as a new stock battery)

Thanks for your time and efforts - your results are similar to my amateurish measurements performed twice and reported on the other 3500 battery thread. Having no device to test the actual capacity, I just used the continuous video playback in plane mode with minimal backlight. The time to full discharge was almost identical in both cases.

It won't damage your phone, but if you are going to use it as a gps while charging, it will probably keep dranig the battery, 800mah is not enough to charge it while screen is on and gps is running

Why is that?
After i've received mine, i've never ran out of battery during my day. Definitively improved the usage of my phone.
