Please could anyone help? I am trying to flash my exec with a vodafone rom
(new sim card etc ) b ut on trying io get error code 120 and it will not let me.
I understand from searching the site that my exec might be CID locked. How can i go about disabling this? Many thanks.
Follow the instructions in the SIM unlock thread and your device will end up being CID unlocked. Alternatively use the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe utility

partially right, yes the sim unlocker will remove cid lock too, but maupgradeut_noid.exe SHOULDNT BE USED. it is the magician anti cid flasher hacked to work on our devices and such isnt reliable or easy to use, it was only used because we didnt have an anti cid flasher for universal, olipro made us one a while back so use that now, the wiki will show you the way
Hey Midget, just saw in your sig that you're getting replacement parts for your dead Uni - nice one! Out of curiosity, are you going to use the Uni or Athena as your main device? I decided to stick with my good old Uni rather than get an Athena; the 3.5mm headphone port, full-size SD slot and ability to use it as a phone without a headset were my deciding factors
Many thanks everyone.yes this has done the trick although i,m not sure about jwrights latest rom though,as the fone keeps crashing when turning the camera on & also the wifi.Has anyone else had this prob??
The Jwrights ROM need to update its radio version to 1.15 and it will run perfectly , i also added a hacked version of Imaginet to get Arabic Enabled software for my SMS
i also did upgrade my O2 Exec throw MaUpgradeUt_noID from Jwrights ROM
Have a nice day

Hmmm, weird. I have only ever used it and never had any trouble.
Hi everyone.
I have decided to upgrade my 02 XDA EXEC and have spent several hours reading the Wiki and various topics in here before I attempt anything.
The only part I am stuck on is:
Do I need to run the super CID tool before flashing or can I use the Universal RUU instead? I am really not bothered which way I go but thought I would ask the peeps here with more experiance before I upgrade.
My device is a 02 XDA Exec,G3 v1.01.
Thanks in advance......Rich
you can do either, but my choice would be the patched RUU as you dont have to change your cid (always safer)
Thanks for the advice,I will give it a go later
cheers...Rich
Does anyone know if the XDA Orbit (Not Orbit 2) can handle windows 6.1 and if so do you know where I can get a O2 version please.
wow
where to start
all of the roms on the artemis part of this site should work with the orbit, but you'll need to USPL first.
None of them are o2 branded because there isnt an official o2 rom, but you can add the various settings you'll need manually afterwards. An o2 rom would (if it was released) effectively be the same as one of these roms but with a different wallpaper etc.
Just upgraded my o2 orbit using black & blue 5 off this site and after USPL-ing it it went fine.
use the search on this site for any problems you've got, and once you find a rom you like the look of read through the ENTIRE thread to see what (if any) problems other people have had with it and what (if any) solutions were found
only install a rom suitable for the ARTEMIS though (you're on the right page)
Upgrading O2 Orbit

WARNING! USPL should be used prior to using ANY cooked ROM, otherwise, you will brick your device, most probably..
here is the USPL which i have used, for the past 1 1/2 years, and this works fine with HTC P3300 & O2 Orbit (NOT ORBIT 2).. i have tested on more than 10 devices of each type and i confirm this..
This is the same USPL i downloaded from this forum, but i couldnt find the links from this forum, maybe im blind .. but i already have the files, so i have uploaded it to rapidshare.. here is the link...
http://rapidshare.com/files/201470586/ArtemisUSPL.rar
just EXTRACT, and then connect your Orbit OR P3300 to your windows computer, and make sure ActiveSync is connected and GREEN..
RUN start_uspl.exe, and things should go fine with the default procedure.. no complex settings, just NEXT NEXT type installation..
after USPL has been properly installed, you can try downloading any cooked ROM for Artemis from this forum, and flash it to your Artemis (P3300 or O2 Orbit).. i have faith that nothing will go wrong.. as even i try almost every ROM whether its Vietnamese or Italian.. just for testing purposes..

Thx mate.. for this.. can you tell me after i download the ROM then wat must i do? i didnt start the process yet
have you tried searching the forum yet?
once you've USPL'd connect your phone again (if not already connected) and run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe
follow the instructions
upgrading your rom will lose your data (contacts/ msgs and emails aswell as installed 3rd party software) from your phone so make sure you've got everything you need and you've recently sync'd with your computer first

Thx mate.. just 1 thing..
i got the phone from my brother..
he said that it is unlocked and when i got it on my hand it was working..
does this mean that the phone has undergone any USPL?..
it has WM 6 on it
no...someone will correct me if i'm wrong here but as far as i know :
'unlocked' usually just means it's not sim locked, ie you can put any sim from any network into it
this isnt the same as SPL locking.
when you reset your phone (poke the stylus into the hole on the side next to the dial button) and get the red numbers in the corner of the screen you will see
IPL x.xx.xxxx
SPL x.xx.xxxx
GSM x.xx.xxxx
and some more
if the SPL says anything EXCEPT
SPL 1.11.0000
it is NOT SPL unlocked
this means that you can't flash any rom thats not from the original carrier to the device
You only need to do this once, but once you've sucessfully USPL'd it will say SPL 1.11.0000
FYI, Topics about USPL unlocking ( using the search ):
http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...temis&sa=Search&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
Woow thx mate.. Now i can get it.. in my phone the SLP is some thing like 3.14.0000
cool.. well im thinking of doing the ROM installation soon.. thx
ok, you will need to USPL first then

Hi guys,
I got my beloved Hero back from the repaircentre. Now i have a new SD card and a new mainboard.
I want to create a goldcard to root and downgrade.
The guide to create a Hero goldcard is not completely working anymore
Qmat delivered a new software called PSAS (link)
So also the website to create a goldcard via email is not working anymore.
What do i have to do now to create a goldcard? I just need one "just in case i ever need it"
You mean a generator like this? --> http://revskills.de/pages/goldcard.html

when you gave me the same link, i re-opened it and it was still blank.......... until i scrolled way down.
Thank you for the reply!
Happy to help.
that website says that its a G1 goldcard..can it be used for the htc hero also?
EDIT: Nevermind found my answer already
Hi,
I'm a newbie on this forum and hope you experts can help me with my question.
I have searched extensively, but cannot find the answer to my question although I am sure this must be a reasonably common one.
I have recently bought an HTC Desire from Vodafone in Germany (although I use English as the system language on the phone). The case is non branded, but the software seems to be (the Vodafone logo is shown on bootup and the phone tells me that the software version is 2.1-update1). I have nothing against Vodafone, but they still don't have a ROM available for Froyo and I would love to upgrade to that version.
I have found a nunmber of links, but would like to make sure I am not chasing a red herring here, so my quesitons are:
1. Do I really need to root the phone in order to install the ROM?
2. Can somebody help me understand which is the right ROM for me? I am looking for the standard HTC 2.2 for the Desire.
And here are the links I found:

Thanks to everybody who can help me,
Adrien
You do not need to root your phone to install RUU updates. This is only necessary for (most) custom ROMs.
This is the official 2.2 FroYo update:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...3.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe
You will however need to create a goldcard in order to install this, because you have a branded phone. This update will also un-brand your phone.
Hi Lunatic,
Thank you very much for your quick reply. I've found the instrauctions on how to create a gold card. Could you piint me to a link which explains how to install the ROM once I have the gold card ready please?
Thanks,
Adrien
1. Put the Goldcard in
2. Boot up the device
3. Start the exe
4. Follow the on-screen instructions
Hi ljesh,
Thaks for your reply: I love this forum!
Do you mean I need to copy the ROM on the gold card insert this one in the phone or should I start the exe from my desktop?
I apologise for being so slow.
Adrien
No, the ROM is in exe format. So after you follow my 2 (3) steps (create the goldcard - don't have to put anything in it, place it in the device, then boot it) just execute the saved file on your PC while the phone is connected through USB. A window like this (not exactly like that, it's just for illustration) will appear and you will need to tick some boxes, understand the risk (it will delete everything from your phone: contacts, sms messages, settings... EVERYTHING) of doing this and wait for the phone to update itself.

You need to run the .exe from your desktop, the setup will take care of the rest!
Make sure to backup your data tho, because this will erase everything on the phone!
Brilliant, thanks ljesh. Everything is clear.
Hi Lunatic,
Thanks a lot to you too. I have one last question - and I hate keep on asking -, but I tried downloading the rome from shipped-roms.com, but it's asking me for username and password. Where can I find these?
Thanks,
Adrien
username: shipped
password: shipped
Thanks EddyOS.
Guys you are seriously all great.
Now I'll get down to creating the gold card: I just wish there was a shortcut, the instructions I found (theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/) seem quite lonwinded
Thanks,
Adrien
Try this guide:
http://android.modaco.com/content/general-discussion/305672/creating-a-goldcard/
Longwinded, yes but it works (or I assume it does, never needed a gold card myself)
Thanks EddyoS, this seems clearer than the one I've found.
I'll report back as soon as I've installed the ROM.
Hi, just a quick message to confirm that I've managed to create the goldcard and to update my Desire. I also found this guide which I find easier to follow:
http://www.droid-den.com/android-guides/android-guide-how-to-create-a-gold-card
Thanks to all for your help.
