...so here it goes....
...after performing hard reset and upload of latest ROM from club i-mate, and then full restore via active-stink, my phone call 'history' has many calls duplicated now and this is wreaking havoc with my 'monthly minute tracking' software....
...The items that ARE duplicated are ALL duplicated 3 times....
...SO, does anyone here know where this info is stored and if it can be, ummm, edited? All I want to do is purge the duplicate entries....
...Thank You!!!!!
For get your software and use #646# (#min#) for your current minute usage. My account ends on the 7th of the month so you need to look at your bill to know when the end of your month is.

What a lovely way to wake up, you look at your phone, no sms txt notification, you open txt up to send one, you see inbox with 4 unread txt. You open one up, it seems to crash, so you reset as its a brick at that time.. You wait you look again into your inbox and Whoopie all unread text 6 of them are gone... Now what ? Can I retrieve them at all? I tried to read the sim.. but nope.. mmm downloaded all the sms to laptop via outlook and nope nothing there.. Anyone is this a bug? of WM5 or does it apply to WM3 too? Is there anyway of retrieving these texts? i.e. the rom is that unstable? I am confused help me please to explain this bug? :?:
nope... aparently they were in the RAM and got wiped out when you reset the device.
So is that a normal event?
Loosing your sms because unit freezes for some reason or another? Is that particular to this device, or is it the operating system? I run the normal latest rom of O2 Uk not changed anything .. corporate version.
When in Ram
I followed that trail when in Ram and I shuddered it explaines why my alarms dont go off, and yes loss of sms etc if in ram..

Girl sighs now shakes her head and wants to go back to CPM and old MS dos... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh
leave the messaging system on the today screen, dont remove it.
sms's will crash when you remove the mail from the today screen.
consider using a third party app to reset, there are a few, and they will write the information in ram to storage when resetting, eg SPB PP but there are others
the other option, which isnt effective is to cycle the power off for about 30 seconds prior to resetting, however if it is frozen, this is unlikely to be effective
the usual cause is the removal of the mail system from the today screen.
awwww... poor you ask the guy who sent you the SMS to send it again
P.S it's due to the way the OS is designed... you will loose the data in RAM unless you flush it before reseting... try the app from vijay's website to reset... I havent' tried it myself but I think it should do the trick
here is the link
http://www.vijay555.com/index.php?Releases:VJEschaton
put messaging back onto today screen
Thanks I will do that... though I hate all that clutter,, I shall let you all know if it works.. or not.

I meant Desktop linux!
That looks really nice, and great to see it taking advantage of full 640x480!! Since it is a real OS on a laptop-shape palm computer, I would probably be quite interested in that. If I can persuade my employer to *give* me an Exec/Jasjar to replace my XDA2!
How is the screen redraw? I'm told that WM2005 redraws slowly on that device. They must have forgotten the 2D accel chips.
is there anyway that i can tweak or even stop it from downloadin old stuff.bc everything i send new info it dls 5000 or even more text messages.somebody help me its freezing up my fone.

Are you saying that you want to backup/upload your texts to the MyPhone server but not synchronize-with/download-from the server?
i think you have to go online and archive it...i just started using it yesterday so take that comment with a grain of salt...

If I am reading this right.... (correct me if I am wrong)... you are deleting stuff on your phone, but it re-appears when it syncs with MS My phone...
If this is the case, there are two things you could do...
First, and less favorable of an option, Go into Sync Options (In the Menu in program) and uncheck the things you don't want backed-up or synced. This is a two edged sword though, in that it won't back up anything else in that category.
Second Option, log on to the MS My Phone website (http://myphone.microsoft.com).
Once there, log in with your Live or Passport account (the one you use to sync your phone).
Goto the catagory you want to clean out (say Text Messages).
Then delete the item(s)/message(s) you do not want.
When confirming, it tells you that this will delete it on the phone as well.
Once confirmed, it will clear it off of the phone at the next sync time.
Hope this helps.

Hello all,
I'm really sorry if this is the wrong place to post this,
but i'm just so frustrated right now and I can't find anywhere else.
So I got my Touch Pro 2 about 6 or 7 months ago. It worked perfectly
for the first few weeks. Then every now and then when I went in and
out of messages a little to often it would brick and I would be forced to
reset it. It kept getting worse. I have to use the quick message (type contact
every time) because i'm afraid going into the threaded message view will brick the phone. The reset count is getting ridiculous. Today alone I have had to reset it four times.
I've noticed in the past month it has been lacking facebook compatibility and
me trying to figure out why has resulted in it bricking many times.
First of all, when i first got the phone i linked all my friends' profiles and set up their profile pictures. But when i added new contacts I couldn't add their facebook account. And I haven't been able to update pictures from friends
that are already connected. So today i decided to hit the logout button on
Data connections. It logged me out and then i logged back in to find most
of the connection between people and facebook entirely gone and all of the profile pictures gone.
All in all it's just plain ridiculous that I can't A - message properly or B - use the facebook compatibility, both of which are things that should just work and not brick my phone. I really hope there is some setting or registry value I can tweak to make it all better. But i realise that is naive so i won't get my hopes up.
Thanks in advance,
Ben
Realistically the only real fix for that is to just back it all up and do a hard reset (wiping it back to the default configuration). It'll be back to how it was when you got it.
Alternatively you may wish to install a HardSPL and flash a new (better?) ROM instead, but that's up to you. Either way it'll require a hard reset though.
first go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
then pick from one of the roms posted. see which one you prefer. i use energy cookie. ive heard great things about its facebook and twitter apps. messaging itself is on point as well.
heres a link to some roms

Hi,
I recently reset my One M8, and I made a backup of my SMS with MyBackupPro, i used it a lot of time with my OneX.
I tried to restore this backup (.mbp), but it's not working with SMS, and buggy with Call History.
I have about 10k sms, so it's pretty important for me to get it back...
Can someone help me ?
If it's that important to hold on to 10000 messages, might I suggest you back them up with multiple apps to be safe?
I think you may be out of luck... They either restore or they don't. The app probably can't handle the amount you have and is having trouble restoring them. You could contact the app makers for support.
You may find things easier to let go of the past and clear out some of those messages occasionally. Seriously.
I use sms backup, when I remember, and have never had trouble. There's titanium backup too... And probably many others.
Again, with that kind of number of messages, you may see issues with any of them.
I'm using "SMS backup", with something like 2k sms, configured it to save the backup on external sd. never had a problem.
Did you take a nandroid backup before you reset?
If you did, there is some excellent functionality in an app called 'Nandroid Manager' which enables you to restore your SMS from the nandroid backup.
Hi, thanks for reply
I think I should explain the whole situation.
I have Zimbra at work, and I wanted to sync my stuff with an "ActiveSync" account.
So I added this account, and Android asked me to apply some security policies, like crypt the SD card, and activate a PIN to unlock.
I accepted, thinking that I could change it later.
But impossible to disable all this security stuff, it was really annoying to type a PIN everytime...
Then I decided to just make a backup and restore from stock.
I did, but now the backup can't be restored.
It shows a progress bar, like it's working, and ask me to reboot the phone, but after that still no SMS.
I thought it may be because the phone was crypted when I did the Backup, so I added again the ActiveSync, recrypted the phone, and tried to restore in this state. Still nothing...

Nevermind that...I don't think any group of people can be so important as to collectively message 10K times and if they are truly important then perhaps it'll be better to talk in person instead of SMS's
My total SMS's - +- 100(Total) over the last 5months.
Not important people - don't get sms'd or phoned.
Important people - get spoken to in person, they are to important to me to merely communicate via "messages"
Rest - probably promotions, companies wanting more money by selling crap in other words - Crap.

Ask a professional company in your area if this is even possible for your phone. Amateur methods will not do it.

You should ask your cell phone provider or as above like ze7zez said, ask a professional company in your area to do it for you.
SMS is quite easy to recover (as it is not encrypted) but this is purely dependent on how long the texts have been deleted for, as the longer it has been then the greater chance they will be overwritten by new incoming text messages 192.168.0.1 router login . First thing to do is power off the handset and don't use it (you can transfer your SIM to a new handset as this will not affect the stored SMS on the handset).
I can only state that I use both UFED and XRY and both of these platforms can recover SMS. That said, the old addage is, if it is there then it can be recovered, if it has been overwritten/securely deleted then it cannot be recovered - no guarantees in this feild.
