HAHA.. so TRUE!!!
For the OP... got a link to the commercial? Not sure but willing to look if you got it....
However.. i am sure you will get like 18 more people telling you wrong forum so prepare... people are dumb... thats why there are some GREAT devs that dont even come here anymore...
i believe the commercial was for a windows phone. (i am assuming the swamp man commercial) to my knowledge no app currently supports this type of transfer though it may be possible if Google tvs become popular through wifi.
as far as those complaining it is up to the community to set standards. While i dont think people should only post wrong forum and that 100 people need to post the same thing. If WE as a community accept posting in the wrong section in most cases the mods will accept it as ok as well and then you will end up with a mess. (see 99% of forums and its hard enough to follow everything when its clean).
So while some people are very rude about it and that isnt needed it does serve some purpose and it helps set standards that keep the forums clean. especially after having members that are 8 months old still doing it.
if you dont think that matters go search most other forums and try to find anything without having to search through 20 pages of crap.

Most of the devs that have left have done so for other reasons such as being banned for there choices (whether we agree they should have or not). Very few if any devs left because of the community. Especially the part informing people of the rules and trying to keep "their" space clean.
This should have been posted in the Q/A section. You can learn from your mistake now, so that next time it won't happen.
Here is the link to the vid on HTC's youtube.
Here is the picture, I think???
Note it says WiFi is required.
As the post above me: it could be a WP7 phone.
thats the DLNA app the Htc talked about when they first Announced Sense 2.0 coming to Android phones. Its called Media Link and most of the Z/HD roms have it in there you can download it from HTC HUB as well but ONLY ON Sense 2.0
Virus, Myn, BOS, And others are working on Z/HD ports for our EVO's But we need DLNA enabled tv's to make it work and/or the converter box HTC also Talked about..

Well I just joined and can not contribute to any of the conversations I would like to contribute to because I do not have 10 posts yet so I guess you can count me as unsatisfied at the moment.. I can't even comment on stuff in the marketplace? So I'm forced to contribute BS to conversations I don't care about to get 10 posts so I can join the discussions I want to join. There seems like there has to be a better way.

Give it time and you'll be able to contribute knowledge that the devs don't get to. While they're making sweet roms for us to use the rest of is are here to help others get to know how they work and contribute fixes for people who get unlucky and brick there phones. It took me a couple of weeks to get enough understanding to be able to help and soon enough you'll be there as well.

I dont have a problem with the 10 post rule. Just take the time go be constructive with your posts, and when you reply to someone post try to add something helpful. As you can see I'm not at 10, but i'll be there soon, no worries.

Would have to agree with you kentu3. MOst of the questions have already been answered if you search.
Another thing that I do before posting a question about ROM "xyz" is to read the whole thread on that rom. You would be or not be suprised as to how many times the same question gets asked.
Thanks again kentu3 for this thread, and a big thanks to the DEV's and MOD's who make this site worth visiting
Hi! New here. I for one like the 10 post rule because it helps keeping it clean and when you surpass the limit you have proven yourself worthy.
Coming from a wide range of other communities, also as admin or moderator, I instantly knew XDA's rule was brilliant. Looking forward to contributing in any way I can.
Now I'm gonna try and find out how to find this Thanks-button in XDA app

It is quite an ad-heavy site unless you use a blocker of some description. There's also a mammoth amount of content. I've seen a lot of people mention load times as a downfall, but to be honest I don't notice it taking any longer than some of the other tech sites I frequent
Load times are such a subjective thing though, everyone will differ. What browser do you use? Firefox seems to pop up a lot re: slow load times.
Well I typically do most of my surfing at work, which I use IE right now. Don't have much of a choice. I downloaded Firefox a while back but it never worked right. Not sure if it's because of the firewall or whatever here, (I have no idea how that all works) but Firefox was terrible. I tried to get Chrome but it's blocked too.
The slowness to me isn't really a huge deal, just curious why as other forums I frequent load pretty fast. But the more I surf around here, there is a TON of info.

I use IE (6) at work too Ed, and it's noticeably (horribly) slower than Chrome at home. Likewise, all other options are restriced here for me.
For personal use at home, the latest Chrome with Ad Blocker Pro (free) works extremely well at speeding up the genera;l browsing experience here at XDA. It is a resource-heavy forum so it still takes a little longer to load, but that's the price I pay for the wealth of information here, to me personally anyway
Could be worse, I was on 56k at home until last year when they upgraded our RIM (out in woop-woop)

This whole site has a great deal of unhelpful, self righteous twats. Top it off with the stupid posting restrictions for new users and you have a pretty damn unfriendly place for noobs. I should have known from the snarky video I had to watch just to join that this was an exclusive Android guru only place. It sucks that people come here to chat and get help with issues and this is the kind of responses they get. Good job.

The default setting is off.
IMS = IP Multimedia Subsystem
IP = Internet Protocol
SIP = Session Initiation Protocol
With setting off, SMS is sent/received over 1x circuit switched connection
With setting on, SMS is supposedly sent/received over a SIP session over IP (e.g. LTE)
I'm not sure if one is better than the other or what advantages/disadvantages either would have.
Is IMS even functional? I know it will be for VoLTE, but what about now?

Look at this dudes signature, you can tell he's a corn ball.
Anyway, I was curious about this too because sms over ims is supposed to be available when volte launches, which hasn't yet (volte is voice and sms coming over LTE). Right now only data comes over LTE. Voice is still 1x with some other convoluted ehrpd stuff.
Anyhow, any luck with this? Did you give it a try? I imagine your data usage would go up since text would go against your data usage.

Finally, someone whom sees it how I do. It's sad to see that this still happens. Every since the BB days and mIRC chat all the way up until now it continues. Forums are meant to help the "Noob" or "Lam3r" if any of you are old enough to remember that term. If you want to help then great, but if not then I would love for these fat, anti-social dorks to do something other than harass and discourage the young ones (and the older) who wish to learn.
If everyone could follow that philosophy as a general rule. Kind of like Open Source software, it's done for a cause, something greater than one's self. If forum users (not naming any in particular) would open their minds and allow a bit of tolerance for the unknowing rather than providing links to this, this and this (which sometimes is the easiest way to resolve and issue or answer a question). But god forbid if someone doesn't use the search feature.
I understand that answering the same questions over and over again is annoying. But rather than push that person off with another link or trolling comment just think back to when you were that "Lam3r" or that "N00b" noone wanted to help back in the 90's and how frustrating it was.
None of us started out this life knowing anything about software development, computers and networking, telecommunications, etc. But when a forum is created, watch out....everyone is an expert and "you are an idiot" if you have a simple question to ask. N00b's, don't let these loser's discourage you. Keep looking for your answers on XDA and you will find someone willing to help. There are tons of super cool members here.
And again, I'm with you 100% Xfanatic....

I agree with you about agreeing with Xfanatic...and Lam3rs should not get discouraged because there really are good people out there!
On the topic - this reminds me of the setting in older phones (maybe began with the first few colour phones?) of using GPRS for SMS. Never really understood if it had any advantage/disadvantage and it was disabled by default. I didnt see any change in performance if it was on or off, and also couldn't see a notable change in data usage but it was harder to track back then...

Haha! some like the P900 I still have a lot of respect for and it was probably as smart as todays phones with less gimmick
I was talking about phones from around 2002 or 2003...Nokia 7250i for example
This user's guide I found for the phone has the setting listed as one of the features - http://dl.owneriq.net/4/41149a6d-d289-4d77-b932-7006a2d469d8.pdf
IMS
wikipedia is your friend ref: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Multimedia_Subsystem .. option remains relevant for new phones ie Nexus 4 etc. Sometimes registration is required to enable.

T-mobile definitely utilizes LTE(SIP - see above for definition) for sending texts. Not sure about other carriers.
Edit: I just tested on and off with or without registration, and really don't experience any noticeable difference regardless of how it's set. None the less, its apparently active on T-Mobile network.
Really?

Its to stop idiots posting useless crap in the dev topics.
Pointless *****ing from someone who thinks he is better than everybody else. Reported.
We all had to deal with this, and those of us who put the time and effort in are thankful for these restrictions as there would be even more idiots and wasters without them.

Seriously? Is it so difficult to get 10 USEFUL posts?
Just look around! You'll find plenty of noobs asking the same question, all you gotta do is make the day for 10 chaps...
And as a software developer, you should very well know the potential and threat of spam...
Also, the 10 post rule has a deeper meaning attached...it is there so that users inculcate a habit of assisting in the flow of knowledge...
They should realize that the journey is more important than the result...
I see that you have 3 more posts to go...do try and help out a few blokes on the way...

Think I did a useful proposal here. I read in the explanation for this noob-spam issues that if we know of a better alternative to filter users just propose it.
If you read me between lines you have a proper alternative by just letting the ones, like me, who contribute in the xda-premium app to change their user status to something less restrictive.
Don't you think it's a good idea to both enhance the app-buys and give users like me an alternative?
Don't want to mess with the forum, just report a bug since yesterday jejejeje

No, I think it is a really bad idea. A total of $1 to get some sort of 'Special' status? Because the people who want to come on here purely to spam and try to get commercial crap posted won't want to pay $1 to get a quicker and easier route to doing that will they
While your proposed idea does look good on paper, the issue of piracy pops in...
Android is the worst os when it comes to development, from an anti-piracy point of view...
Granted that piracy is rampant on other os's too, but it is much much much more than any other os of its calibre...
I can bet my whole work on xda that more than 80% of all android users have pirated an app or game or theme or whatever...
So, as I said, granting dev area access to all junior members is not such a good idea, as it would actually increase app piracy, rather than push up sales...
2 more to go...

Also, a helpful advice:
Since the dev obviously doesn't mind getting contacted through other means (coz he did put up his contact info on the open internet), I urge you to respect other's privacy...

This is the issue:
Hi, I’m having issues with the phone-number recognition algorithm. Is there any tweak with it here o just a JellyBean error?
Here in Buenos Aires, Argentina we have this numbers: +54 11 0000-0000, if the number is a cellular phone, we add a nine like: +54 9 11 2222-2222. I have all the mobiles in my contactlist like that. But because the ’9′ is not used for internal calls, The network providers don’t forward the nine and I see +54 11 2222-2222.
So When an incoming call / sms says the number is +54 11 2222-222, The phone doesn’t show the proper contact because it’s missing the ’9′ in front of it.
In stock rom from my galaxy S3, my old iphone, and some other roms I tested I didn’t have this issue. Any ideas?
thanks!!!

Contrary to what I had believed, your post doesn't have a close precedent (from what I could conclude through a quick google)
While I do not know the solution or what causes such issues on your device, I can suggest a workaround...
You obviously use call log pretty much...
In my phone, there does appear an option to edit numbers before calling...what this does is simply copy-pasting the number to the dialler where you can freely edit it...
There, its a simple matter of adding a 9 in between...
P.s. I don't run jb, so the exact option may vary

Thank you for your time looking for a fix and the workarround.
I found another one, just putting both phones in the contact works for me. Now I have my regular contacts with both with and without the '9'.
Why do you need the contact with '9' ? Because if I am abroad and have to talk to a mobile phone in my country, the 9 is a must to establish the call.
Why do you need the contact without the '9' ? Just because the phone can't recognize the contact if not.
Really appreciete the devotion in solving others issues. Keep up the good work making this forum the great place it is.
If it was an open source rom, I'm sure you could patch the framework to ignore the lack of 9 for caller id
I'm a bit noob on Android, had I Phone since it's release. But I'll be checking if I can review this in the source.
Was my first thought

Are there any custom roms for the pixel 6 pro? I don't see any on XDA and I have a hard time finding them with just a Google search. I appreciate you answering me.
there are a few (2) listed in the development section in this forum. but most aren't listed on XDA anymore. You will want to join a TG group that lists all the ROMs that are currently available (approx 8 right now). The name of the group is Pixel6Chat
Ahh I'm finally getting the hint. Why has development migrated to tg? I've never even used tg lol.
Yes, there are quite a few. crDroid, Spark, Lineage, Derpfest, AICP, AOSP Extended are some.

Too many n00bs cluttering developers threads with posts that don't contribute to development. It gets annoying fast when people keep re-asking the same question that has already been answered multiple times in the thread or is answered in the original post, or complain about bugs without providing a logcat or at least details on how to reproduce the issue.
I remember when XDA used to be about Android development, but as it gained popularity over the years it started to become more of a general Android/smartphone/tech help and support forum.
I see. I can hardly blame the developers. Perhaps a more tightly moderated board would be more encouraging.
Definitely sad state of affairs!
I figured it may have been for another reason, say why we lose things like vanced.

True that.
Sadly, especially the new generation prefer TG groups instead of forum. But if the reason is that people keep asking the same questions, it might happen more on any social media or group, as the forum should be better for searching function and tags by arguments. One limitation perhaps is that the new XDA forum is not compatible with Tapatalk, and, for mobility reasons and use on smartphone would be a nice method to access.
As the original Google firmware delivered with the stock rom has some special features (we know mainly some code related to Tensor computing, for photography on gcam, as well on dictation etc.) I wonder if we may see any review here, about the main difference, which features are common, because part of AOSP rom code, and what we may miss. Does the custom roms in Pixel apply ie the June updates?
In my previous devices I always used custom roms, but I never owned a Pixel and of course would be interesting to know about the difference.

I hate telegram and refuse to use it. Is there a discord we can join to get the updates and or downloads? I joined xda years back for custom os like lineage for my android devices.
When was lineage os for pixel 6 pro built? Twrp?

You can download some roms like lineage for p6p here. Just use fastboot -w
Then fastboot update "rom.zip"
I can't guarantee that all these roms use that method but lineage os does.

True I know those commands. But It will wipe my data and well I kinda dont want to do that right now. I will download them though for the future when twrp becomes a thing for the p6p.
I have been using fastboot commands to update my p6p monthly security patch . Magisk prevents it.
Thank you for the link! I just downloaded them. Will keep them saved for the future when I can use them.

This seems to be a factor too. I read in one of the descriptions of a recent released ROM that proprietary features would not be included because of similar concerns.

These are fastboot flash able zips , I don't think they would work on any twrp btw
I don't know if there will be a twrp for a13, which I'm on any time soon. Even official lineage with los recovery would be great

agreed! But time will tell. Glad to see within the past month custom roms have been happening. Pixel 6 pro has a 5 yr google support so there is no reason to really move to custom roms unless its for fun with messing around and experiencing features.
I must say, latest A13 beta, rooted, with AOSP Mods and a few others, makes the Pixel 6 Pro feel GREAT

Yes, I have seen several positive comments about A13 beta. I'm with A12 on Derpfest, and as soon there will be a nice custom rom I will move it.

You know why this "new generation" go to TG? Because on XDA if someone complains about a bug or something they have to deal with it. On TG if someone says something they don't like or want to deal with they can ban them. Way to many people lacking the mental capacity have admin rights on TG.
