Delay in Call while GPRS is active - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello,
I am using HTC pocket pc running Microsoft Windos CE .net phone edition on it. I have noticed the following issue,
While I am connected to GPRS, If I try to make voice call, It is taking almost 50 seconds to go through.
Any settings or procedure to minimise this delay. Without GPRS connected, the call is going through within 4-5 seconds.
Thanks you very much in advance for your feedback.
best regards,

Exchange Sync Kicks Dial Up

So, I am having this issue that when ActiveSync (on the Pocket PC) goes to sync with exchange, it'll kick the dial-up connection that my PC has (via bluetooth) to the internet so that it may sync. Its really bizzare and driving me nuts. Can anyone lend a hand?
My setup:
Audiovox vx6600 (EVDO for Verizon)
Firmware 2.03
ActiveSync 3.8 -- using an Exchange 2003 server syncing "Items as they arrive" (note that changing this to scheduled does not fix the issue).
What happens as as soon as ANY application on the Pocket PC tries to sign itself onto the web, it decides to kick the DUN call that the computer made. This means the computer gets disconnected, very irritating.
The problem seems to lie in the fact that DUN connections are not seen as real phone calls, so they are kicked in preference of a data connection. This happened this 1.35 firmware and is still happening with the 2.03 upgrade. When I delete the connection on the PPC completely, it seems to connect fine and will never get kicked. This, however, is an annoying, half-ass work around.
Does anyone know a way, in short of making an app to do it (which I'm tempted to do if I can't solve this), to make the DUN connection take preference over the data connection, so that the laptop doesn't get kicked?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Andre

Blackbeery GPRS and WIFI drives me nuts....

Hi there!
Has anyone an idea, how to make the Wifi and the Blackberry GPRS
Connection work at the same time?
It drives me nuts, as i am turning on WIFI, the Blackberry GPRS gets
disconnected. BUT, in 99% of the cases it reconnects the GPRS within
5 seconds. So there is not enough time to connect to any WIFI AP.
As i want to sync via WIFI its very annoying.
I know i can turn of the Radio, so that GPRS is disabled, but then
i cannot receive any phone calls, thats NOT what i want.
Any ideas, anyone???
cheers

PS: i forgot: Using Blueangel MDA III from Austrian T-Mobile, with newest Austrian German ROM from T-Mobile (like the one on the xda ftp).
PPS: Thanx for the extrom unlocking tool, really good stuff.
I must admit, I've never had that problem, but I make sure that I close ALL applications before turning on the WiFi. It can take 10-20 seconds for the WiFi interface to estbalish a connection and get an IP address. During that time, the device will try and connect via GPRS when you launch email, internet explorer etc
Hi!
The great problem is not an application. the problem is the
blackberry service, which you cannot deactivate without loosing
all data and settings
thanks to t-mobile
cheers

Ouch that could get expensive if you didn't realise - I'm glad I don't have blackberry services, just plain old POP3 & SMTP email
hi!
no it actually doesnt, because t-moblle has an extra gprs setting for the blackberry client. when you are connected with the blackberry gprs, there are no costs. on the other hand, you can only use the blackberry service with this gprs connection, no internet, nothing.
its really annoying. No one else any ideas about that ??? pleeeease
cheers

Blackberry and GPRS
Hi,
just use a taskmanager like "supertasks" which supports starting and stopping of services. Go to the services tab and stop the blackberry service. Then you can use WiFi as you like and afterwards you just turn on the service again. Nice handling so.

hey guys,
i'm sure this has been asked, cant find the thread...
wifi on wm6 seems to dis-connect when vario II goes into standby...
and looses watever net connection u on...
anyway of sorting this???
dude, does your computer use the internet (WiFi not Ethernet) if it's on standby? I believe it does that to save you some precious power. Be happy.

This is a default behaviour of windows mobile (even version 5 already did this) and the software that uses the wi-fi connection should take this into account.
(skype for example has an option to "avoid device suspend" when open)
I'd like to know if there's an easy way to keep the Wifi on in standby too, yes I know battery life will suffer, but that's my choice. I want the wifi on constantly for incoming VoIP calls to the mobile.
Is there anythingout there (appart from skype, i dont use skype for voip) that will keep the connection alive in standby?
Thanks
you may simply turn the screen off and this will keep the connection. not a good solution but it works, open wmp and assign a key for 'toggle screen', then you can turn the screen off easily

tytn, wm6, sporadic GPRS connection?

Hi all!
After i updated my unbranded HTC TyTN to WM6 i've noticed that the GPRS (G) icon pops up in the top bar from time to time.
This can happen hours after i last used the phone, If i check for running programs nothing is running. The connection is totally sporadic, i can wake up after 9 hours sleep and find the GPRS connection being "on" for like 5-6 hours.
I don't know if it's sending/recieving anything (don't know where to look for that )
Installed applications (yea, i'm a easy user so only 2 apps)
fit4Cat HTweakC 2.0
TomTom navigator.
Is there any kind of logging program so i can see what program that activates the GPRS connection?
Thank you in advance.
Hello,
when I start my Tomtom6 Navigator my GPRS/3G network go on and I discovery the activation came from the tomtom trafic configuration, I turn of my tomtom trafic and the GPRS/3G network never goes up again.
I hope to have helped
That the task manager isn't showing active apps doesn't mean there aren't any running. Like in desktop windows: its task manager has two different tabs (one with apps, another with active processes). Meaning: The ppc-taskman is only showing apps with a windows
You should look for some traffic monitor. Maybe a today plugin is transferring something?

2 minor problems with Wifi and WM6

First of all thanks to Schap. I am using schap's compiled WM6.
I have 2 small problems.
The first one is:
I setup a WIFI connection, than launch the application which will use Internet!
(I.Explorer or VPN, etc..)
When I do some request from any application, my PPC tries to dial a number to connect via EDGE, GPRS or HSDPA, even PPC is already connected to Internet!!
The internet explorer downloads the page without any problem but at the same time i always cancel dialing via gsm or umts line.
Is there any way to make PPC avoid dialing a connection when I connected wia Wifi???
The second one is:
I have the latest version of Trinitiy with 400Mhz Samsung and 128Mb RAM. But since i cracked and reinstalled WM6 instead of WM5, it works slowly. I clicked to Start button, menu scrolls in 3 seconds. It is like running vista on pentium III processor. Is it normal? or I made a mistake during configuration?
Is it possible to upgrade RAM?
Regards to everyone...
For your 2nd problem, can you try to disable cleartype and touchflo ?
Thanks..
Now it is working faster. But i have always the same problem concerning the wifi issue...
When I am connected to the internet via Wifi or activeSync the bottom of IE says "Connecting ... 0 KB." At the same time it tries to connect via 3G, GPRS or EDGE. Then I get a message saying "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your settings, tap Settings."
I have tried everything on connection->settings. But still tries to connect via cellular line even there is a connection to internet!

I think i have the same problem, but in my case, it connects internally, so, when i click the internet button, i get a delay of like 15 seconds before to get any screen. this is happennig recently... it was working fine until 1 or 2 days ago... i have the proxy settings on the internet connection... im thinking that this maybe related.
