My frontal screen is black and always show 00:00 time. I can only interact with the credit card widget, but nothing else work. This happened after the latest update. The inner screen works normally.
Did any of you find this issue, or know a way to fix it? I already tried to restart the phone and the issue remains.
Try wiping the cache partition in Recovery Mode

Try rerepartion and reflash it again, see if the problem persists
Just boot in recovery and restore to factory
Simple.
Weird, I thought I had a working flash (been running for a couple days now) but I turned on compatability mode in settings and restarted.... black screen and 1 - 3 vibration pattern, WTF! Factory reset didn't fix it either, reflashing now :/
I had the same problem and someone posted from another thread that its the samsung task manager updated version 1.14 that is causing the problem. Wiped my phone, installed and updated all my apps except samsung task manager, rebooted my phone and all went well.
Edit: thanks to duracellbunny for finding the app that causing the problem.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
thanks guys..... working now as mentioned above did not install task manger .
phone rebooting fine as mentioned at start it does work after a factory rest/cache but I always updated all that apps after a factory reset...... this is the problem as I apdate the taskmanager app and this has been the problem
thanks to antz88c for the post duracellbunny for finding the fault...
same here thats actually the last straw that gets me to downgrade to 2.1. I beileve its the samsung app that causes it. factory reset fixes it
Updating Task Manager from Samsung Apps causes this issue.Don't update this app!
i had JellyBam custom rom installed and my screen was working perfectly fine...i was using the camera and then the screen went black and i guess the phone turned off. So i tried turning it on and i felt it vibrate and heard the boot animation but there was no animation on the screen..
when i touch the screen after the phone was all way booted up still nothing on the screen...the touch screen worked i heard the water drop from the lockscreen, i heard the text message tone...but the screen wasn't showing any animation!
the important part here is that i didn't drop it or nor did it ever have water damage! ive put the phone in download mode and reverted back to stock rom and stock kernel and still nothing!
So help me our here guys whats going on????!!??

So I am assuming that the screen came on when you went to into download mode but you did not specify. Have you tried going into recovery mode and factory reset that way? If not that is where I would start. I am assuming you will be on stock recovery. If that still doesn't work, try installing TWRP via ODIN, wipe everything (system, data, cache, dalvik) and then reinstall stock. Let us know if this works.
Hi ive searched high and low but cant find a solution to the problem i have. I have a note 2 international GT-N7100, Ive recently replaced the whole front module as I dropped my phone and broke both the outer glass and the inner screen, (at this point I was running Bobcat ROM 10.1 with persus alpha-36 kernel) both before and immediately after all sensors worked perfectly then a couple of days later the accelerometer and gyroscope stopped working, i searched the web and found that most people suggested reverting back to stock ROM..... I did......and they worked again so i re-flashed Bobcat ROM and they still worked...well for the day, then in the evening they stopped again and havent worked since, i have tried the previous solution of flashing stock ROM/Recovery/UNrooting but still nothing, does anybody have anything for me. Maybe a way to reset the sensors or a file that could help. Thanks in advance.
I have a similar story - was running one of the Cyanogenmod nighties, all sensors working OK. Flashed CM 10.1.3 and they stopped working. Timeline something like this:
1. Flashed cm 10.1.3, no sensors (verified by running Androsensor - reports "waiting for event")
2. Factory reset, nandroid restore back to nightly release - sensors working again
3. Flashed CM 10.1.3 again, sensors working
4. At some point later, sensors stopped working again
Will try the factory reset - re-flash again but interested to get someone else's thoughts on this - anyone else had similar problems with CM 10.1.3 on the N7100?
Possible fix
Here is a solution to sensor problems, especially after flashing custom firmware to the GSN2 is this:
Turn off auto rotate, power off, boot into Odin/download mode. Once there - pull battery and reboot. Turn auto rotate back on, should work fine. Otherwise may be a hardware or firmware issue...Hope this helps somebody.

Good night man, i just not understand this.. "take battery off when phone is plugged in usb and Odin reconizes this.... its right? and after i take the battery of the phone still on at download mode, how do i reboot it? just have to take off the usb? after i put the battery again and turn it on plus turno the auto rotate on? that's it? i doing it right? Thanks a lot for your help
I have the same problem and do not know perform the procedure. I would have to send more detailed procedure for my email?
[email protected]
Thank you
In My Note2 rotation sernsor, gyroscope has stoped working. Before helped wipe dalvik cache and cache. After reboot rotation worked to first deep sleep phone, after I must repeated the procedure. But now I check on 3 unoffical roms, and 1 oryginal software and sensor not working. After procedure from this thread - not work again...
Hi All,
Really hoping someone can suggest a possible solution for this one, only had the phone a few months!
So, Chinese released M9. Unlocked. Stock recovery, not rooted. Gapps installled.
Everything perfect, then today I got the 5.1 update.
Seemed like a slightly iffy install process...looked a little like it failed a couple of times and tried again.
Finally finished, the phone shows the white screen with the one logo, takes a while, opens on the desktop and turns off, back to the white screen with the logo.
I have been able to boot into safe mode, which is stable
I have been able to get to download mode and bootloader. Neither of these offer a cache wipe or a factory reset.
I have not been able to get into recovery mode, it shows a phone with a red triangle and an exclamation point.
So for my (largely uneducated) part I have two theories for the cause:
1) Gapps is somehow proving a problem, either faulting the install or causing a fatal error on startup
2) Since the update was notified and downloaded while on a VPN via Hong Kong, I wonder if I accidentally ended up with the HK version in which case I suspect there may be hardware differences (at least the radio). This seems unlikely, I would hope there were enough checks in place to prevent this happening.
No solid idea where to go from here. I have not yet tried ADB access, but even if I can connect, what will I do? Flash a new ROM? I'd rather not. And surely I'd need to root in order to do that....
At a loss, any potential solutions welcomed whole heartedly!
Thanks...
Booting into safe mode, but not booting otherwise, indicates a problem with some app or rom setting.
You're probably going to need to do a factory reset, but that's odd that it doesn't show up in bootloader or download mode. Have you tried the options in stock recovery (which is that screen with the red triangle)? Use the volume keys to change options.
Hi iElvis - the screen with the red triangle - there's nothing other than the red triangle, no options, no text and nothing happens if I press any of the physical buttons.
Trying a factory reset from safe mode - I'll let you know what happens!

Hmm. It would seem the Chinese models are set up differently, which would not surprise me at all.
I have a LG G3 with rooted stock rom running xposed.
So I pulled my phone out of my pocket today only to see the Verizon boot logo in effect. I was thinking "that's weird, guess my phone needed to reboot? Strange." But the only problem is it never stopped. It will only boot up to the lock screen and occasionally it will display an error message telling me the systemui has stopped. Then about 10 seconds later, it reboots itself. It continues this process until I pull the battery.
I've tried booting into safe mode, no luck. It doesn't even actually boot into safe mode (it doesn't say safe mode in the bottom left corner.)
I tried wiping the cache, no luck.
I don't want to just do a factory reset because that hasn't seemed to help anyone else with this issue as far as I've seen. I have not found any helpful information on how to fix this problem.
My question is, what do I do? I feel lost on this subject. Normally I've always been able to diagnose problems on my own, but not in this situation.
I have all my apps and data backed up to Titanium Backup on my SD card.
Any suggestions?
Xposed is more than likely the cause. Boot into TWRP and open a terminal, then type the commands as shown in the OP of this thread to bypass it...
