Hi
Is it possible to flash the new I9195XXUBMJ7 Firmware without the Knox bootloader? How do i remove the bootloader from stock firmware or how to flash stock I9195XXUBMJ7 rom without the bootloader. Has anyone tried it?
Kind Regards
Tom
is possible, you can try with [TOOL] TAR.MD5 PACKAGER from this link

modem image
I have CM10.2 installed and I want to keep it. But I want to update the modem while keeping the bootloader.
Is this possible with this phone?
I am not skilled enough to extract the related files and create a new CWM flashable ZIP.
Could somebody please do this for me (and possibly others)?

You need to extract from latest Firmware.TAR.MD5 only the NON-HLOS.bin file, repack it and flash as CP/PHONE via Odin.
Needed commands for repack (in Linux or Cygwin):
Code:
tar -H ustar -c NON-HLOS.bin > modem.tar
md5sum -t modem.tar >> modem.tar
mv modem.tar modem.tar.md5
Finally you take the modem.tar.md5 and flash it.

Thank you.
I successfully flashed the tar file with ODIN. The phone rebooted and runs without noticeable problems.
But my baseband version status line still shows UAMG8. Shouldn't it read UBMJ7?

Where/how did you check the baseband version?
Try the following code in dialer: *#1234#
Still MG8 ?
hm...something must be wrong with my phone...when i enter your ussd code in the dialer app i get an error "connection problem or invalid mmi-code"

Power off the device. Remove battery. Wait a while. Insert battery. Power on. Check again. Optionally reflash again the modem in Odin.

Do you come from Not Official Samsung Firmware Status Coustom ??!!! You must flash first AMG8 or AMH3 Official Firmware.....otherwise the modem will still.
1. Factory Reset
2. AMG8 Firmware Flash by Odin
3. Boot + OTA Update to XXUBMJ7
or
Flash with Odin.
Thats my way with the same Problem.
Sorry for my bad english.
I`m on CM 10.2, so no OTA possible. Moreover i don`t want KNOX on my phone.

Before i knew that with XXUBMJ7 also KNOX comes along i've already flashed the whole firmware package. Everthing worked fine, but baseband didn't changed. I also don't have KNOX on my phone, so i think your observation is right. Nevertheless i want to reflash modem to a newer version (it don't hast to be XXUBMJ7) because i have strange reception and wifi connections errors since i change to cm 10.2 (from stock),
I've tried it again with I9195XXUAMH1_I9195OXXAMH3_BTU modem...but baseband is still the same

Are you sure?
I think XXUBMJ7 firmware has the Knox part in BOOTLOADER, not in MODEM.
So XXUBMJ7 + MODEM - bootloader = no Knox
Of course I can not confirm, because I am now on XXUBMJ7 and return to older FW is not possible.

PHONE Version N900TUVSFPL1
Region TMB

OS Version 5.0
If anyone tried using CF-root successfully, leave a confirmation below.
I'm interested too if anyone flashes please report back asap. Doesn't seem like much seeing as the rom is still 5.0 not 5.1 or 6 so more than likely its just 300 mb of "security updates".
Just an update: the new PL1 firmware can be rooted by CF-auto-root.
One more update: the android security patch level is still 2016-09-01, the same as the SPH3 firmware. Don't know why they say this is an "android security update"in the description.
I thought the android security patch level should be 2016-12-01 since it was built on 2016-12-12.
i couldnt ge the cf-root to work on mine. it says theres a dev error. is there a newer version to use?

I did that 3times and it keeps giving me the same error message. I think I'm using the wrong tar file. I'm using the one for n900TTMBFOB6. Is there a different one for N900TTMBFPL1?

Should be the same.
I downloaded here:https://download.chainfire.eu/354/CF-Root
Unzip the file and Odin flash the tar.md5 file only, not the zip file.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH IT WORKED PERFECTLY. It must have been the file i downloaded from before.
Baseband not updaing
Hi guys..
I have upgraded to the N900TUVSFPL1 update.. but I noticed the baseband still says N900TUVSFPH3 and the Android Security Patch Level says 2016-09-01... is this normal?
the Build number does say N900TUVSFPL1.
Did anyone try flashing roms through TWRP? if so what do you guys use?

I think that you have to power off the phone and boot into download mode from the power off state. Otherwise, the bootloader and baseband won't update.

Right.. but it makes a difference if you reboot into download mode (while the phone's still on) or have the phone turned off and then boot directly into download mode (volume-down + home + power).

Yes.. I had to do that in order to re-root using CF-Root and also to flash the recovery.
Is this ROM based on Android 5.1.1 like others are speculating? If this is just 5.0, I'm saying "Screw Touchwiz", and staying on my AOSP Nougat...

Is it possible to take only the most update modem (CP) from this?
I am looking to flash the latest modem for Tmo US Note 3.
Maybe flashing via Odin in the CP button?

FlashFIre. Many older posts talk MOP, TWRP, etc. At least with this hardware and firmware, FlashFire is all I use. (Much gratitude to Chainfire.)

Code:
# Install Heimdall and print pit
sudo apt install heimdall
heimdall detect
heimdall print-pit --no-reboot > pit.txt
# Extract binaries from firmware package
head -z -n -1 N900TUVSFPL1_N900TTMBFPL1_N900TUVSFPL1_HOME.tar.md5 > N900TUVSFPL1_N900TTMBFPL1_N900TUVSFPL1_HOME.tar
tar -xvf N900TUVSFPL1_N900TTMBFPL1_N900TUVSFPL1_HOME.tar
Lastly, review the pit file and pick the partitions/files you want to flash. Use the tool you're most comfortable with to do the job.
Many posts refer to the necessity of bootloaders and modems being compatible. So I have not (and would not) flash just the modem. Er, that is unless someone else already did it and reported success.
(PS. Wish *I* could walk out my door and do the Haiku Stairs, a bucket list item.)
Can I flash an older firmware from sammobile via odin without bricking the thing? If so, what's the best way to wipe everything to the fullest without root before flashing the new (old) firmware?
Pic is before and hopeful after firmwares
No, you cannot downgrade the Bootloader
Example: G960FXXU2BRGA << Version 2 BL

After unsuccessfully trying to root latest DUB5 firmware form T-mobile with Magisk - found a solution:
1. Patch original T-mobile AP with Magisk.
2. Replace BL_N986USQU1DUB5_CL20936746_QB38027387_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 with any other Snapdragon BL image from Android 11 (Latest XAA will work).
3. T-Mobile apperently locks vbmeta to official state in latest firmwares.
4. If you do not repalce BL file, you will get an error "vbmeta_fail" and your phone will get locked.
Enjoy!
hi guys,
so finally the update for european devices is available.
normally the update runs automatically but my fold is rooted and due to that it will not update.
how is the procedure to update and keep my root and my personal data?
thanks in advance
Interesting
Same question for me...
What i planning to do for now:
- Backup everything with Migrate.
- Update with sideloading Odin (patched AP file).
- Restore everything with Migrate.
Other ideas?
will it be enough only to flash the PDA file? i assume you have to flash BL, PDA, CSC and Home CSC??

Grab your latest firmware , get the AP file and patch it with your magisk app
Then Odin flash the full firmware , using the AP magisk patchfile @ AP Tab
Use CSC_HOME file @ CSC Tab ( to keep all your data and actual setup )

As you are rooted, you will NOT receive OTA updates. You will need to Download the firmware, patch the AP file on phone with Magisk and flash the entire firmware in ODIN (using the Patched AP file)...
This has been stated multiple times...
If you did get n OTA update it would cause problems as it would most definitely unroot your phone...
