I flashed over my /kernel by mistake, I still have fastboot but twrp can not boot, I beleive once a full OTA for the bnd-l24 is available I can fix it. What is in the /Kernel partition? OPEN TO ANY SOLUTIONS. If someone could pull their /kernel partition from an emui 8 bnd-l24 or I guess any variant assuming the content is the same, that'd be great!

You should be able to extract the kernel.img from update.app
It is inside the udpate.zip you flashed to get Oreo
But if you flash wrong , it might get worse

I can't find a kernel.img, can you tell me where it would be? I checked both update.apps, do you have a copy? you think since I can not flash the no check recovery I could switch the vendor and go to stock recovery and perfrom an update from a update zip on root of the external sd?

There is a setting in the extractor app. And uncheck the verify header, I think it's called.

I've unlocked bootloader of my chinese redmi note 5 pro and flashed a global rom on it then updated to global v9.6.3.0, after that I installed twrp thru adb and root with magisk. Now, will I be able to update this to a new global version thru ota?
No. You can not

Is there a workaround to do so?
You can comeback to recovery stock or download update file to storage , boot to twrp then flash update zip. After update , masgik will not work

So the official update zip will work on twrp? I thought it's not possible on a custom recovery. Anyway I'll try that, thanks.
Work fine. But if you flash full rom , not update pack, all data will be earse , mi recovery comeback.
wzsx150's TWRP was released but I didn't see a thread here, so here's recovery that everyone would flash.

The whole process requires ROM's boot.img to participate and I think recovery-TWRP-3.3.1-1004-ASUS_ROG2-CN-wzsx150.img-tmp isn't a complete file, so you shouldn't just flash that directly to your phone. I wish I know how to decrypt the batch file and localize it in English so non Chinese speakers would use it too. I'll make a simple guide if the original developer doesn't make a English one.
FYI: The current build of this TWRP only has Simplified Chinese and English language, also has a modified splash image with author's info on it.

Rename the file...delete the -tmp. That should be self explanatory, and the 1st screen that pops up when twrp boot. CLEARLY has a language button. press it, select english. Simple. The Author of this, has been around forever.

Yeah. I reflashed and made sure there was no lock screen set or fingerprint and now it's working. Makes updating Roma really easy since since I'm in the latest we rom.

So I've bought the tencent version CN, which will arrive soon but with WW rom flashed on it. So I can just download latest WW update and flash the zip through TWRP, correct?
Yes. If you have this twrp you can flash and it'll update it.
Can I just check, with ROG phone II we don't use 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' , we instead use 'Fastboot flash boot recovery.img' to flash this twrp? Sorry, but I'm used to the fastboot flash recovery, so just wanted to make sure... Thanks
It's just that @suzook said it needs to be 'fastboot flash boot recovery.img'
Oh yes, and also, I'm guessing BL must be unlocked to flash this recovery?
EDIT: Nevermind about the flashing process, I see there is no seperate recovery partition to flash and the twrp img is the same size as the extracted rom boot img, so yes, it should be as @suzook mentioned.
I'd still like to confirm that flashing twrp MUST have BL unlocked, or not?
@reg66 I suggest you use this method first https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/how-to/flashing-ww-rom-changing-cn-fingerprint-t3969765

Yep, no worries, I'll use that apk to unlock BL, but is the rest of it necessary? My phone will already have FP changed to WW by seller (Giztop)..

My opinion? Bl unlock, completely reflash the ww rom yourself, this way your fresh, and know it's done properly.
Now we need custom roms ??
This recovery installs OK for me on my CN phone converted to WW rom, but if I use the TWRP "Root Phone" option in Advanced to root and install Magisk, it disables the Wifi, and after rebooting the phone it goes into a bootloop that I can't recover from (not even restoring from TWRP backup) and I have to reflash WW rom to recover. I repeated this refleash/reroot process 3 or 4 times and it happened every time with breaking wifi and then reboot failing.
So it works, but I wouldn't use the built-in rooting yet until it is ironed out.
I've got the 7T tmo version unlocked via flashing Indian then int firmware. This is the 10.0.8 update from oxygen updater, pulled boot img from payload and patched with magisk. Enjoy.

It then will boot into fastboot and when i try reboot the phone the same thing happens again. It's also happened after i flashed the stock image to return the phone to normal. What should i do to try fix this?
TIA

Hello, Sorry for the noobish question.
i'm about to use msm tool to restore my os to OOS 10.0.4(non-rooted). Can i directly flash v10.3.1 (magisk patched) on 10.0.4(non-rooted)?
I'm using Magisk Canary (custom channel: ht_tps://dgadelha.xyz/public/magisk.json) and it looks like it has no Option to perform: "Magisk Manager → Uninstall → Restore Images". Could you please advise on how to proceed from there?
Many thanks in advance

Edit: Solved, it worked after rename the img.file to a shorter name...
hey guys, successfully flashed the global rom over my redmagic 6 pro CN version but decided to go back to the CN rom, but when I try to install it via local update it results in a recovery boot loop and the only option is to do a factory reset, but when I do a factory reset, for some reason it goes back to the Global Rom. Any tips on what I need to do? thanks

Personally what I would do is extract the boot image from the CN rom zip and fastboot flash it after you flash the CN rom via local update. You will have to be bootloader unlocked of course. You can always relock after you've got the CN rom up and running.

I actually tried that but then it get's stuck on the Nubia logo, so something must have gone wrong somewhere, and one odd thing is if I try installing the latest V2.63 CN rom via local update it tells me that the package is not compatible with the phone. At least the Redmagic 5G had the local update option on its recovery. Nothing at all on the Redmagic 6 Pro. Isn't recovery.img included in the payload.bin? doesn't seem to be there when I dumped the payload

Which rom did you use? EU or non-EU?
Thanks for the reply.

I installed both just to see if I cam go back to CN rom once I'm on either Rom
Basically just downloaded the Global ROM file from the Nubia website, put it on my phones root folder, then did a local update, using the system update local update setting

I believe the recovery is part of the boot image now. I've dumped the payload too and I'll have a quick look and see if it's present. I have all the files for the US, global version. It's 4.1.2 I believe. I'll be happy to help any way I can. I just had a bad experience today... I've had my 6 Pro a week and already the cord has quit working. Not a good sign. I'm starting to regret my purchase.

I checked and sure enough no recovery image. Pretty sure it's baked into the boot image. Perhaps try the 4.1.2 boot image? That may boot it. Seems like you've rebranded it global version by flashing the global rom. That's a possibility anyways

Shouldn't cause a brick. If you've already flashed global before there shouldn't be any problem. But to be sure instead of flashing just fastboot boot the image.
Fastboot boot boot.img
This will allow you the luxury of trying it without actually flashing it. If it hangs up simply reboot by holding power.
