Samsung Galaxy S20+ (Rooted) Freezing and rebooting shortly after restart - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Yesterday night, I've successfully rooted my phone (wich i was really proud of after not realizing for an hour i was using the wrong twrp version).
Well after using it for a bit and getting all my backups over it, when I started Huawei health my phone froze, heated up and afterwards rebooted.
After trying to start Huawei health again, it worked fine but after some time the same things happend again. Well that lead me to uninstall Huawei health, wich i did but afterwards my phone started to freeze randomly. I tried to reproduce it after restarts but it seemingly was random.
So After that I booted my phone into save mode to see if the problem was dependent of the software. In save mode, my phone worked perfectly fine.
This left me thinking, its not a problem with the software, more like a problem with an app but since Huawei health was uninstalled i couldn't call wich app it could be.
The last thing wich i can do (or so i think any other ideas are always welcome) is to longtrace my phone and maybe find out with that what the error is but since i never used traces i am not quiet sure if that would help or even show what's wrong.
Anyone ideas what could cause this?

Nexus Rebooting Randomly

Its happened twice that i can remember now.
This morning in bed I grabbed the phone, deleted some emails, opened the browser and the screen went blank with the sound of a slight crackle. It then instantly revooted (google logo popped up etc).
Im concerned the phone is faulty. Is it likely just one of those things or does it sound more sinister?
Hope somebody can advise.
Mine rebooted once the other day. I don't necessarily think that the phone is faulty, it just has bugs that need ironing out.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
it's just the apps
it can happen with any android device
just keep an eye on which app is causing it
you can pull out the logs and scan through it
I've been having the same thing as the OP. I get "Android is Upgrading" when it restarts, too.
In additiona I've seen (several times now) that when I press the power button to turn the screen on, it wont accept any input. After 30 minutes or so it spontaneously restarts and goes to the "Android is Upgrading" message when it restarts.
I'm on the verge of RMI'ing the thing as some of the other guys in the office who have it have not had the same problems.
I'm running vanilla sim free version, no operator tat installed.

Are you running a totally unmodified stock rom or have you flashed a custom rom/kernel/radio to it? Kernels are still being worked on and arent perfect yet.
Also Android 4 is still very new and alot of apps are not fully compatable and subject to crashing or crashing the system.
Everything will be ironed out in time
Mark.

[Q] GSM Galaxy Nexus force close & reboot ****storm

I have searched for this issue but couldn't find anything about it...
So I got my GSM Galaxy Nexus from Rogers 10 days ago. It has been working dandy with maybe 1 force close the whole time and no random reboots. I also unlocked the bootloader and installed 4.0.2 (yakju) keeping the radio that came with it intact.
I also installed Google Wallet on it and successfully used it. Other than that, I haven't done any tweaks, and like I said, it has been working perfectly with no problems whatsoever.
Enter today: I woke up this morning and went to check my phone. Instantly like 3 applications force closed (ones that weren't even running in the foreground too). Now for the past 3 hours hours or so, applications force close (some won't even have a chance to run for a second) and the phone reboots randomly. I think it has rebooted around 30 times in the past 3 hours. Sometimes it reboots as soon as it has booted up, sometimes it works for a few minutes before rebooting.
Every time it reboots it shows my old battery stats (I think.. from before I went to sleep), and notifies me of the same emails. I managed to install one app before it did a random reboot once, but after the reboot it was gone. (Think Groundhog Day).
I have no idea how to fix this short of doing a factory reset. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be happening or how to fix it?
Thanks.

Is it doing a full reboot or just a "warm start"?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
What's a warm start? It seems to be doing a full reboot.. Screen goes black, then Google logo appears, then the boot animation.
It seems that I cannot do a factory reset.. selecting it in the menu brings me to the android robot on its back with a red exclamation mark, and selecting wipe data from that menu doesn't actually wipe anything even though it says it does.
Try unlocking and relocking your boot loader if you are going to factory reset anyways

It's already unlocked.. You mean locking it and unlocking again? Also, is there any way to batch reinstall all the apps tied to my account? And also, any clue how this issue could have originated? I want to avoid it in the future.
No idea.. all I can think of is an app using all of your memory as that's what causes a force close.. and sure try relocking and unlocking if a normal factory reset won't do it. If you have titanium backup you can use that to batch reinstall but if it is an all causing this issue you should install them one at a time to see of there are any adverse effects.
I don't know if it is an app but that is my best guess.

I hadn't installed any new apps prior to this.. and everything was working fine before, which is why I'm confused as to what could have caused this. Also, not just one app force closes, but like 4 at a time.. usually the Google apps for some reason. I checked the memory and the CPU and it seemed to be running at normal levels.
Have you tried an old-fashioned battery pull?
Haven't had this happen to me, but a pull usually does the trick.
Yep, and it hasn't worked.. Every time the device reboots, it will either reboot again right away, or if i don't touch it, it will idle. Then if I try to do anything, 3 or 4 apps will crash instantly, and then it will freeze and instantly restart.
If I manage to install an app, I can run it, but then it crashes and reboots again with no sign of the app. Deleting apps is also useless as they are back after reboot. Strange issue.
Guys, I really need help.. I finally had time to sit down with my phone and figure out this issue so I decided to just do a wipe. As I wrote previously, I am unable to wipe it from within the OS due to it rebooting when I do, so I decided to re-lock the bootloader.
When I typed "fastboot oem lock", it changed the lock state on my phone to locked.. as I was expecting.. however, when I rebooted the bootloader, it was unlocked again. WTF? Now I am trying to flash stock 4.0.2 to it again (which it was already), but it's been stuck on "writing 'system' ..." for half hour
Could the flash memory be corrupted somehow?
Ok, I have deduced that it is most likely corrupted flash memory.. I didn't even know that could happen, especially in 10 days.. I guess that's good ol' "Made in China" at work. Still, am I the only one who has had their flash memory fail on them?
Crossing my fingers that Rogers will replace my Galaxy Nexus even though it's rooted and bootloader unlocked :/
Hey stenzor,
I am facing same problem of rebooting...
But I haven't flashed it to yakju.
Did rogers replaced your?

[Q] 5.1.1 Random reboots ?

Anyone else experiencing an excessive amount of reboots? For as long as I've had my N4, my phone has never restarted by itself. But after updating to 5.1.1, my phone restarts at least 5-6 times a day on any app (snapchat, facebook, camera etc). Should have been a hint to backup my phone because now my phone is on a loop and wont boot up after the AT&T animation. Last resort is obviously a Factory reset. Any help would be appreciated!
EDIT: Wiping my cache partition did not fix the issue.
EDIT: Plugging the phone in the charger while rebooting somehow fixed it. Hope that helps someone having the same issues.
Not me.

My device has never rebooted itself since I owned it (bought on 10/30/14). Yesterday, I tapped the camera icon to use the camera and it rebooted. Took forever to boot up because I'm encrypted. Once booted, I again tried to enter the camera and again, rebooted. Now at this point, it will not stop rebooting. It was on a loop that seemed like every 15-20 seconds it would reboot itself and I'd see the Samsung GN4 splash screen. I pulled the battery to stop this since everything else was unresponsive. I restarted the device in recovery mode and cleared system cache. Seemed to work at the time. All was well for a few hours with light usage until I tried to use the Genius Scan+ app. As soon as I tapped the camera button within the app, the device rebooted. Once back up and running, I deleted an app that I sideloaded the day before called Parchi (it's a Microsoft Garage project app not available in the US Play Store). I figured it might have something to do with it since it's the only app I've installed in days. The app seemed to work for the first 24 hours however, I deleted it anyway just to see if that was causing the issue. So far, no further issues with rebooting and my battery life has been great as well. Prior to deleting this app, my battery went from 100% to 35% in like 3 hours with very light usage and maybe 20 minutes of OST.
Back to the issue at hand though, I've had 5.1.1 on my device since day one when AT&T pushed it and no issues with rebooting until yesterday.

SM-N7505 Wi-Fi not turning on

Hi everyone,
I'm having serious problems with my Wi-Fi on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo (SM-N7505). Whenever I click the button to activate the Wi-Fi, the icon goes from grey to a dull green (darker than the bright green which signals that a function is turned on), as it does when it's trying to turn itself on. Problem is, instead of turning on, it just stays in that state for a few minutes before reverting to grey. This has gone on for a while, and I've already tried several possible solutions which I found after online searches. I don't think it's a hardware issue (see point 1 for the reason), and I really hope it isn't, because my warranty has been voided due to rooting, so I can't have my phone replaced or repaired unless I pay for it (which I can't at the moment). So, I'm basically ignoring the possibility of hardware failure and trying every possible software solution, hoping one of them will work, otherwise I'm just stuck with no Wi-Fi. These are the fixes I've tried:
1) Take out the battery while the phone is on, wait a few seconds, then put it back in and boot the phone up. This used to work when the problem first presented itself a few months ago (which is why I don't think it's a hardware issue), and I've been since using this method to fix it whenever it happened again. But a few days ago, this method stopped working for whatever reason, so I was back to square one.
2) I tried renaming the data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf file, which seems to have worked for some people, but not for me.
3) I tried updating the version from Kitkat to the recent Lollipop, hoping that would fix it, but nope.
4) I tried deleting practically every single app one by one, hoping that one of them was interfering with the Wi-Fi somehow, but nope.
5) As a last resort, I tried a factory reset, but not even that worked.
This is basically the long and short of what I've tried to fix this... I might've skipped a few of the simpler fixes I tried (for example, I just remember I tried disabling "Smart Network Switch", which seemed to do it for some people), but the big stuff is all there.
I'd really like to get my Wi-Fi back, so if anyone could help me fix this thing I'd be really grateful!
Thanks in advance to anyone who will bother to reply.
same problem dude
Same problem...wifi and bluetooth not working...pls help us
Same Problem for me, Initally it works fine even after updating Official Lollipop update (OTA), but after few months now wifi & bluetooth are not working for me. And finally faced battery drain issue for past few days. Battery goes down upto 20% per hour even in idle condition. Then i rooted & installed Note Rom & even after i face the same problem. Is there any way to fix?

Random Reboots?

I was just wondering if anyone else has an issue with their Note 4 rebooting randomly with no external input. This started happening with the Android 6.0 update both on the download from here and the AT&T official release, Any Ideas? I've already purchased a new battery due to a separate issue, any idea?
I had the same problem. The phone would freeze and randomly reboot. Sometimes the system crashes and asked me for the typed-in password (not fingerprint). Sometimes when I charge the phone, and unplug the power cable, the charging led stays lit and the battery has to be pulled. I decided to switch the battery with my wife's Note 4 and see if the effects remained. So far I haven't had any problems after switching the battery, so I believe the battery may be the cause of all these issues. I'll keep you updated on the issues.
I'm back. The battery replacement didn't fix the reboots. I think my phone's hardware is permanently damaged. :crying:

I'm downgrading to stock 5.1.1 right now. I'll keep you updated. I placed an order for a Galaxy S7 Edge International Version (G935F) yesterday.

can you downgrade to Android 5.0.1 and help me with my problem?
its something completely different to this topic
I've been having the same issue, started about 2 weeks ago. phone would start being sluggish then if I continue tapping on screen, it'll reboot. At least once I saw it go into recovery & reinstall firmware(?). Another time it just sat at the bootloader screen waiting for software download or something till I took out the battery. Most likely it's a software issue related to 6.0 update or updates afterwards. taking out the SD card helped a bit.
but basically got annoyed & upgraded to LG V20 today. Coincidentally, there was another person at the AT&T store with a Note 4 having the same issue.
Mine just rebooted twice on me a while ago, first is emergency calls only now the reboots then what. And yes the slow charging is a problem too. MM got serious issue dam att

use wakelock its an app u get it from play store.it makes ur cpu always running.some how it fixes the problem of random reboots. dl it and set it to partial lock (the 5th option)
Same problem. Just started a few weeks ago. REALLY frustrating having to enter my password every 3-4 minutes. NEVER buying another Samsung, too many damn issues with this phone.
My reboots tend to happen once the phone goes below 60% battery. It's fine above 60%. Once it goes below 50%, the reboots tend to happen with any intense network activity. The phone will often go from 50% to 22%. I forgot what the 30's and 40's look like. I will try the Wakelock app.
Ugh. I posted about this a few weeks ago. It's started happening more frequently and will occasionally go into a boot loop or show 0% battery even though there's a charge.
Has anyone found any solution? I haven't tried wiping / resetting but I'm getting close to trying it.
Here is a cautionary tale for you. My completely stock, unroooted phone started acting the same exact way. On the 4th or 5th battery pull (to fix a frozen screen) it just crapped out. It's totally unresponsive. Deader than a door nail. Tried everything. The download mode, discharging by power button depression/battery removal, etc. Adb shell command does not detect it. Nor Odin. Computer throws up a qhsusb_bulk error when I plug it into pc. I have NO CLUE how to fix it & I am desperately seeking a solution. Please proceed wisely with your oddly acting phones & don't let this happen to you.

Same issue. Just got off the phone with Samsung support, all possibility of having this particular phone with this particular issue sent in for evaluation has been suspended. Translation, they know it is an issue and will not stand by the changes they push to their products (latest OS). I am researching the prospect of legal action since THEY pushed the new OS against my request. Shouldn't that affect the warranty or coverage? Consulting my attorney friends as we speak. Will let you know. I am not sure how WakeLock will help, it is not going to sleep, it is repeatedly power cycling through a kernel process until the battery overheats or it reboots.
Same issue
Since Marshmallow, my 910A will get sluggish or freeze, shut down, sometimes reboot and sometimes just brick (temporarily). Sometimes--more often in recent days, I get a "dll_mmc read fail" message and the target that says do not stop downloading. No matter what I've tried--factory and soft resets, cache clearing, battery pull, replacement, and SD card switch, contacting AT&T and Samsung rep--it doesn't seem to change. This is a daily issue and becoming more frequent. Any suggestions or do I just need a new phone? Thank you.
