I seem to be having an issue when using the QHD+ (doesn't occur while on FHD) option across all roms, rooted and stock. The boot animation glitches right before it's finished and was wondering if anyone had the same experience? I've done a little bit of research on desc.txt, but haven't found anything to remedy it. I've tried changing the fps and resolution within desc.txt. Also tried various custom boot animations to no avail.
I know it's a small thing, but wondering if anyone had a solution to this (besides switching to FHD)?

Sorry currently on A13, WatchDogs custom ROM, LE2125 unlocked
First line of desc.tx should look like this for the bootanimations.zip.......
g w h 0 0 30
W=width in pixels
H=height in pixels
I believe the 0 0 is the x,y coordinates for animation reference position
g I believe is for global
30 is the frames per second
The first line changed with A12+
Should be the same for A13 maybe

Thanks for that, man. Do you know if the FPS matters? Or is it just a visual thing. Also, is it the width and height of the image, or the screen resolution? Will test some things when I get home

You want the w and h to correlate to the screen size for optimal clarity. Fps determines how fast or slow it plays...and it determines how long it will play

So, I spent the last two hours messing with it and had no luck fixing the glitch. I just don't know what it could be. I've reached out to a few of the rom groups and no response. I also haven't seen anyone else report this problem. I don't think it's a hardware issue, and it seems to happen on every rom I've tried. Any ideas?
Does it happen with any bootanimations?

Yes. Used the stock one on Nameless, WatchDogs, Lineage. All seem to have that issue, unfortunately. I'm thinking it's the implementation of QHD? Or some DPI issue?

I tend to believe that during boot, it is switching from one mode of display quality to the mode you changed to. You stated that on FHD, it doesn't happen. Possible?

That's my thought. I guess there would have to be some back end changes made, and not something that could be changed in the boot animation sequence?

I don't appear to have the multi-touch digitizer issues that others are having, but my touches do appear to be hitting a bit lower on the screen than intended. Is this something I can calibrate?

My touches are also slightly lower and to the right. In developer options turn on touch to see it.
Is there a fine calibration that can be done?

Yeah, that's how I'm seeing the offsets -- I've got show-all-touches turned on in the developer options. I haven't found a way to configure an offset/correction/calibration.

Me too.
Same here. About 2mm towards the bottom righ. Easily visible when using a stylus.
any change after 4.4 update
I had been hoping the 4.4 update would fix this offset problem on my tablet, but the offset remains the same, low and right. Did a sideload AND then a full reset just in case. Has anyone else with this offset noticed a change after updating to 4.4?

Touch input still isn't accurate with Lollipop when using a stylus. Anyone figure out a fix yet?
Although I've googled & googled, I've been unable to figure out how to simply change the S9's camera app to record video for PAL countries (i.e. 50FPS vs 60FPS). The videos recorded by the phone look horrible in most nighttime situations, due to prominently flickering lights (it's especially noticeable for LEDs, like Christmas lights for example).
How can I change the stock camera app to record in 50FPS, so as to match the electricity frequency of the majority of the world's countries...? :/
Hopefully I'm just missing something simple buried in the settings somewhere

Hey guys, is it just me or there's something wrong with my phone. The issue I found is that whenever you're using a non-infinity wallpaper, the notification panel, when dragged from the lock screen, is so laggy. I can confirm it is with the infinity wallpaper because I tried reformatting my phone and the problem is resolved, but then when I changed my wallpaper to any non-infinity wallpaper, even samsung's stock ones, the notification panel lags so much
I'm having the same exact issue after updating to pie today! It is really frustrating and I hope there's a fix for it.

I think we're the only one having this annoying bug
If you have not factory reset since updating to Pie, that will likely be why
I see this too with a static wallpaper. The first bit of travel (about the thickness of the status bar) is a bit bumpy. It's nice and smooth with an infinity wallpaper.
S9 - G960U1- Pie Beta 4 Official
Edit: it is smooth with Google's love wallpaper as well.

Found that the issue (using a photo taken on the phone as wallpaper) goes away when reducing the screen resolution to FHD+ from WQHD+
Also, only seeing lag from the lock screen - seems fine from the home screen (unlocked)

Factory resetted already as I mentioned in OP. I dont know what would the cause be. Don't you have this bug?

For my case, the frame drops are still in there after changing from WQHD to FHD, but they are noticeably lesser. And yeah, works fine in my home screen too.
EDIT: So I guess you were right, FHD+ solved the problem

Are you on CSA2? Because I have the build from December. Pie CRL1, I think there are better optimizations in the later build since changelist numbers are different. Will try flashing CSA2 once I finished downloading it, when it's still no luck, maybe try a hard reset then.
I'm still on the beta, but I've never experienced that problem.

I have this exact same issue as well. It came up in the last beta and is still happening on the final software even after a factory reset.
I haven't seen this question answered anywhere. If we assume correctly that black crush is software issue, does it mean custom roms shouldn't have it? Has anyone who tried one can confirm that this is the case?

Using another app to fix screen problems is not a good solution. This probably means that it's actual hardware issue, which is sad

Did you try playing a video with dark scenes? I barely had any issues with lockscreen, mainly on apps like youtube.
it's easier actually, just open a pic perfect black with something shiny/colored, and then zoom in and out, watch the black around that white/color. "works" for me on max brightness to replicate it.
the custom roms make it much less visible compared to miui though, and reducing the brightness to something sensible is always a good idea. on auto brightness i can't see it ever.
it's probably a hardware issue or smth in the display driver. but tbh it's not a big deal during every day use.

Yeah, it isn't a big issue or I would return it and buy the phone I wanted before this (Note 10 pro). But the fact is, there is an issue and it's sad that they allowed it to happen to upper midrange phone.

Clear the data of Battery and performance app. That should do the trick. But it will return when you reboot. I do that in mine a few days and it somehow fixed it self. Now I don't do clear data trick. I'm on 120fps all the way with no color/brightness shift.

I'm not sure, but try disabling "Smoothen transitions" and "Sunlight mode" in Settings > Display > Brightness level, as well as disabling "Adaptive colors" in Color Scheme section.
I remember doing some of this fixed the problem.
Please share your results with us.
No bro it doesn't help it's still the same.
Is this problem fixed in miui 13 ?
Or is this a hw issue which means my unit is defective ?
I have tested in my phone, I can see color changes in the lapse between 60-120hz transition if the color scheme is saturated and adaptive colors is enabled. You need to try with a hard reset, I know is annoying, but we decide to get a Mibuggi phone.
It's happens to me when on arrowos 12 but setting the minimum refresh rate to 120hz fixes it for me, would prefer to have the minimum set the 60hz but this is my only work around

Well I have just spent the past half hour or so trying to reproduce your issue. With 'show refresh rate' enabled in dev options I see no change at all with whatever settings I try. I cannot see or reproduce you issue with my poco f3. However, I am running a custom rom - AICP 16.1.....
I'm not sure if this is the sole reason I don't have your problem, and I'm not saying you don't have a hardware problem. But, why not try a custom rom to see if you can reproduce th issue. I see you have been around XDA for a while so should know your way around flashing a custom rom to check... Might be easier and quicker than sending your phone off for possible repair. Also, one of the first things the repair center may well say (I'm assuming) is to try and factory reset you phone after backing up.
SO, my point is, if you are that worried its a hardware issue, and assuming the service center will just ask you to factory first of all, why not backup as much as you can and try a custom rom... see if it persists.
You can always make a note of what rom version you are running now and download it just in case. Then flash the custom rom and if the problem is still there and you need to send your phone off to the service center, just reflash the original rom locking the bootloader during flash. The service center will never know it has been flashed etc
