I have a really big issue with my HTC One V, since i used to listen to a lots of music on my old phone, i hoped the sound quality would be at least decent on One V, but i hear a lot of background noise in my earphones, not the stock ones ofc, since they are really crappy, i have t-Jays One, which quality is rather superior, but on this phone i hear a lot of cracing noise, like some magnetic/electronic distortion, wich is unbelievably annoying, and it's hearable even with music off, right after i plug in my earphones, is that a reason to give my phone back, or have it repaced? (European version)
If I turn the volume up 100% I can hear a (very) slight amount of noise, but other than that the quality is excellent with zero cracking.
i don't have that issue with stock earphone..
i dont hv, my one v play music really good
Thanks guys, i'll just get it replaced, i guess you can lock this thread...
I have a One V with me and it too has a lot of background noise through the headphone jack. With the headphones plugged in there is no noise but the moment some sound starts playing on the phone you can clearly hear it and it's constant regardless of the volume of the music or whatever you are listening to. While you should get your phone replaced, there is a chance that the new one might have the same issue.
I had a terrible noise problem as well, but over time it slowly decreases. Noise is not yet completely lost, but now is in a tolerant level.
Interesting, is not it?
I have it too. Sometimes noise is so annoying it makes me want to trow off the phone. Noise is present even at boot sound. Changing headphones helps nothing. I had SGS earlier and it had perfect sound with it's wolfson dac, so I'm very disappointed now.
Hi there, I just bought this phone and I'm having the same problem... Did anyone find a solution? Anyone got it replaced and solved the problem?
I think I'm replacing mine as well, this noise problem is really anoying...
Hi everyone,
Since my arc s was making strange crackling sounds at higher volume levels
ive managed to disassemble the phone and play with the speakers a bit, i didnt had enough courage to open up the speaker itself but i thought that it could be the contacts that are moving up a bit, so played up with contacts a bit and voila first it disappeared a bit and it got worse but not like it was before its better now
what im asking could be the contacts playing when speakers create a little vibration while playing loud music ?

it could be the speaker being overdriven with loud music.
at the end of the day it is not really designed for it
not having seen the speaker in the arc. My opinion would be that the speaker is fine. it is just not able to handle the power.
last time i checked tho you can get replacements pretty cheap if you are concered. no idea about how easy it is now tho not had to replace any parts for a while.
hit up eBay and search for the speaker failing that Google.
Pvy.
I just got done reading a majority of this thread:

Anyone else disappointed in the volume levels?
Quite honestly my ringtones are deafening but when I open up Play Music it really isn't all that loud and I really was expecting more.
I've always noticed that Play Music was lower-quality and more compressed sounding than comparable services like Spotify. Try loading up a high-quality MP3 on your phone and use a media player, I think you will see the difference is night and day.
I took your advice, I'm not so sure that made much of a difference.
I grabbed a file from my Dropbox of one of the artists I mix/master for which was 320kbps, played it in the HTC Music player instead of Play Music and it wasn't much different.
That is what you suggested, correct?
Yeah. Not sure why it seems underwhelming for you then. I just turned my volume to 100% and it was crazy loud, and I don't have the best hearing.
I may visit my store today and try their demo unit to see what I think because it really is quite disappointing.
It's loud, don't get me wrong. it's just not LOUD like I expected it to be.
just a quick question - what did you EXPECT? When you watch a youtube video, you also have to keep in mind that your speakers are probably ALREADY outputting at their own volume level. so you arent actually hearing how loud the boomsound is yourself. I think mine are extremely loud, but I'm basing it off of the sound I hear from other phones, not the sound I heard when watching all of the video reviews.
And my first line isnt in any way meant to sound rude. I'm just honestly asking what you were expecting so we can get a better look at whether the speakers are actually quiet, or if you just thought they'd be louder

No offense taken whatsoever. Honestly, I've had every top tier phone imaginable from Verizon. (perks of being a store manager for a indirect retailer)
I'd say that the volume levels are about on par with the others, just blown in a different direction. I mean with a name like "BoomSound" I guess I expected them to be quite a bit louder. It's really no louder than the S4 I just got rid of a couple of days ago. Quality is great, volume not so much.
yeah if its 'on-par' with the others then there's something wrong. I just startled my mom down the hall playing music on google play at max volume...not even kidding
Well when my girlfriend wakes her ass up I'll play the same song, same app, from her iPhone 5 at the same time and give it a good comparison, maybe I'll even try to do a video with my DSLR
Mine is very loud. Almost as good as a cheap Bluetooth speaker. Sounds like your mp3 files may have been recorded at low volume.

No that's far from the problem, I think. I've tried my own tracks (I have Pro Tools and all that jazz). I've tried streaming. I've tried YouTube. I've tried just about everything I can think of. They're not that loud.
After looking at that thread, I can confirm that the volume doesn't change much if at all after 50%, which is weird. I guess it doesn't really bother me though, since I mostly use headphones. After doing some reading, seems like most people are saying the phone's volume is comparable to other phones, but louder in noisier places due to the boosted mids brought on by Beats Audio.

Could we turn beats off and then install a sound appnlike Viper?? I had that on my s4 and it was sick!!

i can definitely tell you there is a difference between volume level - even above 50%
Something is wrong I think...
I agree. I played a song at 50% then cranked it up, it definitely got louder. Still not what I think it should be. I'm saving down a real quick clip that I did that will show it. In the video, it doesn't really prove my point much but in person there is next to no difference.

I'll see if I can record a video as well of mine for you to compare.
I might go up to the Verizon store later to compare it with their display model. If there is a difference, I will definitely exchange it before waiting to see if 4.3 addresses any of the problems. On mine, the speaker volume doesn't really reflect noticeable change between 50-100% unless you really listen for it.
I use PowerAmp and this thing is very loud and sounds great. It isn't a home stereo system but it is very very good.
I realize that I probably should have recorded them playing separately for the video to better prove my point, but here's the little video that I did.

hi there.
does anyone experience this issue.
while playing a game. especially a CPU intensive game. there is random noise coming from the speakers besides the game music/sound effects.
while gaming you won't notice it. so hold the speaker close to your ear. it is very noticeable.
it's not audible when on high volume.
more around 1/3 volume setting.
noticed it while playing for the first time on my P2.
the game was marvel contest of champions.
if it's only my device. then I will have to RMA it.

Yes, I noticed that when playing asphalt extreme
I'm running stock nougat. I do hear a sound like whirring or noise coming from the speakers. Any fix?

So I'm not the only one noticing this whirring/noise.
It's only there in games but not while using youtube or other apps that output music.
I haven't looked for a fix yet as i had thought it's an manufacturing issue.
I never experienced that on any of my other phones.
I think we will know when someone trys to reproduce the issue and reports back that he/she doesn't have that issue.
My new Max 3 (currently running Oreo with no immediate desire to upgrade to Pie until a few months down the line when all the bugs are ironed out) seems to have a permanent bass boost when playing music. I notice this both in the headphones and on my bluetooth speakers, which explains why they've been vibrating the desk so much more than before.
This doesn't bother me so much when I listen to generic pop or EDM, but it sounds unnecessarily loud and powerful when I play anything soft or instrumental.
I Googled a bit, but found surprisingly little information about this. Perhaps the other users are happy with the boost or don't notice it.
Any ideas? It's driving me nuts to listen to things like Last Dance with the bluetooth speaker (or my eardrums) buzzing due to excessive bass.
