Happy new year everyone,
I work at a phone shop and a customer wanted to throw in the recycle an HTC M8. Of course, I got the device from the recycle to try to use it for a bit.
I want to root it to put a newer version of android. I want to unlock the boot loader but the HTCDEV website is down.
Do you know any other way to unlock the bootloader ?
Thanks in advance
I just unlocked yesterday too. There are 2 things when unlocking, if your phone is:
1. S-ON: you need to seek for paid service because htcdev.com is down, impossible to switch to S-OFF without it.
2. S-OFF: follow this, this and this instruction.
Read more information about S-ON/S-OFF on HTC devices forum category.

You can google search for "Sunshine HTC", I'm afraid I'm not being allowed to link external paid website on XDA.

Just came across htcdev.com, I guess this is the official htc DEV team who have releAsed the bootloader unlock, another words to change S-on to S-off. I'm sure many of you probably have seen this. But is it possible to use this unlocker for wildfire s even though it's not on the list. can anyone make comments please ?

I didnt try..but i don't think its possible. In my opinion the unlocking process will validate your phone model and ROM version before going further
Simple answer to anything you people say:
No.
You need an xtc clip, or take your phone to a shop to get it unlocked/debranded.

Not possible yet. A software update is required to include the command to display token information which htc then work their magic with and provide the method to unlock.

not possible
and will not recommend doing that, else, you want your phone to be a paperweight
let's hope htcdev releases unlocking of the bootloader soon.
Just noticed the flyer's been added to the list, looks like they're churning more out

Hello, who contacted HTC to see if the wildfire will be released s ... their response was that all phones will be released but little by little. We can expect the release of our phone without knowing the exact date patience is in order .... (Crowns my English translated with google)

I Searched for it too
I have been looking for the G13 unlocking tools,
result = 0
unbelievable!
I guess it's just not that popular, unworth the time for big players.
pity~~~
but what i think is that stock ROM is good enuf.
So when an FOTA update comes on our phone, we confirm that we can soon unlock it!!!
wildfire s
Today i went to 2 phone unlock shops but they have treid to unlock

So also we have to wait till someone has the sollution
You should have asked them to use the XTC clip.

Hi guys,
I bought HTC wildfire S... Its a branded Australian version as i see 'NEXT' network logo on phone and box...
It has been unlocked coz i am using a different network in Asia...
Since it doesn't come in warranty, i want to Root it, and start installing custom roms on it..i know much about HTC sensation coz i own that too and have good knowledge of Android stuff...
Can someone tell me what should i do to Root it?
I saw in forums here that unlocking bootloader is via HTCdev and xtc clip...
I don't care about loosing warranty stuff but i want to enable ROOT and flash custom roms and remove the NEXT network animation on boot and remove all bloatwares..
Unlock bootloader and then root the phone. tutorials are in the forums.

HTCdev method is only option for me as i don't have xtc clip
i don't know of HTC Dev will have bootloader unlock for a branded Australian wildfire s....

HTCdev is having problems since yesterday.
It is not completely down: Tonight I was able to follow the procedure by reloading the pages multiple times. It was very slow, but I couldn't wait.
Ah, and yes, the only way is HTCdev for now.
HTCDev ALWAYS have problems... whenever i use it it's either painfully slow or not even working
Just have to wait this one out, i suggest when you get your unlockcode, that you keep it saved somewhere special
Sad to hear that there is no other way @ tha procedure... But if that's the only way then that's how it will be...
Thanks for the quick answer.
Best of luck.

yep, it took me about 30 minutes to follow those steps! could have been made in 5 of less if it was fast.. :S
I tried to unlock HOX of my colleague but still problem with this site. Site crushed on agreement window....
i unlocked it with much pain too!! it's the worst website i've ever openned

1) HTC-Dev unlock is the easiest way.
2) HTC woun't record if you unlock your phone. If you for some reason need to send your phone back for repair, you can always relock it and go back to stock.
3) Follow this guide, it's the best out there.
Good luck with your project - you wou'nt regret it

Linking you all to the thread in the main HTC One M9 section. The script seemed to work fine for mine.

T-Mobile can unlock using HTC dev and then run sunshine. Vzw is still waiting for sunshine to update it. Other option for the vzw m9 is send it to someone with a javacard.
I second the above. Mailed mine to somebody with a java card. Fortunately I had the Nexus 6 to hold me over while that was being done. If needed, I am sure you can find somebody in the java card thread.
I am sure this was clarified somewhere, but I read this thread and the one linked;
I have a Verizon M9 with S-Off from a Java card, locked bootloader and no root.
Assuming I root and then do this method, will my data be wiped?

Hah. I decided I'd do it anyway before I saw your reply.
It was a coworker, and I had only asked for S-Off, rather than the whole deal.

Gotta have a java card to s-off, and I assume you gotta be s-off before you can unlock the bootloader and root. Check out the Java Card thread to find somebody with a java card and send your phone to them, or if they're close enough, meet up with them. Stand up guys, all of them are. Many many multiple success stories from people sending their devices and having it back within the week all ready to flash.. for just the cost of shipping and a donation..
You must be S-OFF to unlock your bootloader.
