I don't want Android 12.
A12 killed visual voicemail for me and voicemail notifications completely. Worked first with Verizon, then Motorola, and then Fi when I switched back to Fi. None could fix it. I had other problems and Motorola had to replace the phone. Luckily I got the update settings turned off when I was setting it up,
I have automatic system updates in Developers options turned off.
Does this mean I will never get another security update?
Any way to kill the A12 upgrade screen? It is not showing as a standard notification in the status bar at the top. It just manifests itself as a full screen overlay with "Install later" and "Install Now" bottons at the bottom. One of these days I'm going to have a brain fart and hit the wrong button.
Motorola 2020 (5G) unlocked and purchased direct from Motorola running Android 11.
i dont have a solution but i'm dealing with the same problem. the full screen overlay comes out of nowhere and i know i'm going to accidentally hit the wrong button too

I've had my phone since launch and this only just started happening. I'm stock.
When I use the hardware volume rocker, the volume control GUI comes up at the top of the screen like always. Before, I could tap anywhere else on the screen to make those controls go away. Now, that no longer works, and I have to wait ~2 seconds for it to go away, which is annoying if I need to use or tap that area of the screen. What is worse, if I even try to tap anywhere else to make it go away, it resets that 2 second timer so that I HAVE to sit and wait for it to disappear EVERY time I use the volume rocker.
Did this change with the last monthly security update? Anyone else seeing this?
Can you be more specific about what you mean when you say "hardware volume rocker"?
Check to see if you have "switch access" enabled in accessibility in settings. This causes weird things to happen sometimes.

No, but thanks for the idea to check.
I'm getting that too, for often much longer than 2 seconds. Sure is weird. Switch Access is off.
I'm using Nova launcher and the slider pop-up goes away as soon as I touch the screen. (December security update, stock and not rooted.)

Crazy late post but I had the same thing happen to me. It went away when I changed my system wide font size.
Having similar issue here, but slightly different.
When i use the rocker and menu appears it will not go away UNTIL I touch somewhere on the screen.
And if I touch the menu to adjust the slider I will still need to touch elsewhere on the screen to make the volume menu go away.
Very annoying.
I'm VZW Pixel XL on 7.1.1 (unlocked bootloader and rooted)
I'm going to be updating to a newer Android version soon, but it's quite annoying until then.
Asus zenfone max pro m1, Android 8.1
I may be to late to answer this tread but I had same problem recently. It got solved. It happened because I downloaded an auto-clicker app to do some stuff. It needed the "display over other app" permission. When I uninstalled it, everything was fine. I think it was due to that permission unusual stuff were happening.
Hello,
Has anyone else experienced this?
Yesterday afternoon my 3 XL started displaying just a black screen when I double tapped a text message notification on the lock screen. I have to use the power button to return to the lock screen and then unlock the device again. I do not have any lock screen security.
I am using bone stock, I like to run the device for a bit until I root/use a custom ROM so I can see the improvements in doing so

Thanks
Could be anything including a Live Wallpaper. Unlock the bootloader, wiping the device in the process. Set your phone back up and try to replicate the issue. Have not heard or experienced this. My advice is unlock ASAP so you don't have to set everything up again twice. You bought an unlockable device and plan to install ROMs eventually. Why postpone the inevitable? Oh, and don't use this useless Q/A template again!
Hey just wondering if you ever figured out what is causing this? I have a pixel 2 and pixel 3 and my wife has a pixel 3xl. Her phone doesn't do it, neither does my old pixel 2. I literally just opened the box in the mail and installed a few apps last night on this pixel 3 and it basically locks up when you double tap the notification on messages. The notification bar and nav bar are still on the bottom but unless you power off the screen and turn it back on, it will sit there unresponsive.
Same prob here and driving me nutz. Any info would be appreciated.
Recently (last week or two) tilt-to-wake has stopped working, and the option to enable it no longer exists on the on-watch settings menu.
The toggle for tilt-to-wake is still present in the Wear OS phone app (under Advanced settings) but even when on, the tilt-to-wake functionality no longer worked. The only way to wake the watch is to tap the screen or press the side-button.
Anyone else noticed this? It is driving me mental!
Cheers
Uhh... scratch that. After rebooting watch, new Google App was installed and it is back to working as normal! Should have tried that first.
I'm new here and I'm not an expert, maybe someone could relate or knows how to fix these problems.
I want the "do not interrupt" mode to vibrate with the contacts that I put in exceptions, the ones that can interrupt when the mode is activated, does anyone know how to do that?
My moto g20 is new, I got it for xmas. My previous phone was a Samsung J5 Prime, and its "do not disturb mode" worked better, because it has more options, this mode on the moto G20 mute everything, and the contacts or apps that you allow to "interrupt" they can, but they don't make any sound or vibration.
And I think there is a bug that makes applications disappear from my home screen. I happened with google maps, I put it back and then there were two google maps on my home screen, maybe I'm crazy but maybe someone noticed this.
Also, the navigation buttons animations are kinda bugged, like, you press it once and the animation of pressing it does not end consistenly or properly (image attached, the animation freezes like that until a new input get registered), how do I fix these two bugs?
I uninstalled bloatware with ADB the first second I turned on the phone, maybe this is causing me problems?
Also, what blows my mind is that my older phone has better options that this brand new phohe released recently, it has no themes or icons customization, lintern brightness levels, and insensity or vibration patterns options, my previous phone did.
Sorry for the long text, I searched all the web but find nothing, because is a new phone. Also I contacted to Motorola support and has no response yet, neither from the motorola forums.
Thanks for reading
I have an S20 (just the S20, not, plus, ultra or FE) on Metro and with the Android 12 update came the accessibility button on the right end of the navigation bar.
I want it gone, but none of the "how to's" apply to THIS phone on THIS carrier. The menus aren't like what anyone shows or writes. I cannot find any OFF SWITCH for that useless to me button. I can change what it launches, and I can make it a floating button, but I don't need or want any such thing.
If you have a plain S20 ON METRO and have figured out how to shut that button off, please do tell.
METRO loves to screw around with the UI on phones. They muck around with menus, remove options (can't change icon frame style or turn them off) and "give" you things you do not want. But switch the exact same phone to T-Mobile and it all changes, the boot screen logo, system apps, menus, various options. It's all already in the phone for both companies. I expect with Sprint joining their party that phones since that merger have stuff for all three already loaded. This phone was on T-Mobile when I got it. Took it in, got my number switched to it. Turned off icon frames because I like the "old school" square ones with round corners. Next time the phone was restarted it went from fuchsia to purple and forced to have squared circle icons and everything else that's locked down on Metro. It's like they want to irritate people into switching to Verizon or some other company other than T-Mobile or Sprint.
