Literally the only reason this exists is spam. Luckily SMS spam is blocked pretty easily by AT&T by default in the background. But Flash SMS pops up every 30 minutes or so it seems.
What file do I need to delete to stop all this nonsense??
With or without root, there is no way to block the arrival of Class 0 SMS (flash SMS).
Google has no intention of changing that.

Here's my problem:
In the rom i have now (diamond slim v4.0 for wizard) i do have the same notification event that is being triggered by a regular text message and a flash sms (class 0 sms). I remember having it separated in one of my previous configs, and i'd like it this way. I simply use a prepaid sim, that receives a flash sms with my account information after each call i make, and i hate hearing a loud ringtone (i use for text messages) everytime i hang up.
So i would like to generate a new event for flash sms, or even assign flash sms to different event (like one of already existing, mms downloaded or anything else) - is it even remotely possible? i've took a look at a registry keys regarding this topic, but no luck yet...
any help appreciated
Hi, ummm. There seems to be a limit of 25 text messages. At least on Manila. Is there anyway to remove this limit? I would like to keep all my SMS (on my last phone I normally had over over 2000 sms but had to erase some periodically due to memory limitations, though not OS limitations).
Also (I don't know if this is in any way related), but I always have an empty message at the beginning of the Manila sms interface (doesn't show up in the "all messages" area). Anybody know how to get rid of it?
The limit of 25 messages is only present in the Manila interface. All your messages are actually still there. You can see them all if you go into the default WinMo Messaging app.
Regarding the empty message you see, have you tried to delete it from Manila? (right soft key and then delete)
That was the first thing I tried.
Strange thing, erased an sms from my carrier and it disappeared. But then it reappeared later. Wonder if it-s some weird thing to do with my carrier. One slight advantage is that it provides some privacy protection against slight snoopers.
I recently used Jeyo Mobile Companion to move all my text messages (sent and received) older than a certain date to a seperate folder. Now, at random, when I send a text message, that entire thread of messages will delete from my phone. All my other messages from other contacts are not affected, only the thread of text with the contact I texted.
Of course I did all of this before I took a vacation, and am not currently able to undo the move of messages.
I checked the archive folder to see if maybe my missing threads had been moved to there, but they have not, they are just gone. This only occurs when I send a message, it has not happened otherwise. And it is at random, not every thread deletes. Let me know if you need more details. Oh, stock AT&T ROM, WM 6.5. Thanks.
Nobody else has experinced this? I'd appreciate any suggestions for restoring the lost texts (if possible) and for preventing it from happening again.
Just an idea. Not sure since I don't use the particular software you mentioned to auto delete messages.
The reason for your problem may stem from having threaded messaging enabled. If you have it enabled, this means that in the default WinMo messaging app, you can't delete particular messages. You have to delete the whole thread. It's all or nothing. (Note, it's possible to delete individual messages via Manila)
Disable threaded messaging with Advanced Config tool and see if your problem disappears.
I moved the messages back to the correct folders (sent and inbox) and everything seems to have corrected itself.
Hi I've searched around in different Android sense areas and can't seem to find an answer so I'm asking it, please if I missed it point me in the right direction.
I have a new Droid Incredible, just switched over from a Touch Pro 2, and I love it except for the fact that SMS Recipients is capped at 10. On the WinMo phone you could go in a tweak the registry to allow however many you wanted. On Android is there a way to do this? I plan on rooting it so that won't be a problem if I need too. I've read to use Handcent (has been giving me annoying pop-ups) or ChompSMS but I'd prefer just be able to use Messages.
I dont have a sense rom anymore, but if I remember correctly, it's as simple as going into messages..pressing menu..pull up settings, and then think with storage settings. You should be able to adjust the limit per thread and conversation numbers. Let me know if I am delusional..but I'm pretty sure that's it.
I've found that and theres a place where I can limit the amount of sms and mms's however nothing about recipients anywhere Any other ideas?
Anyone else have ideas? I'm using Handcent but after I send one message it acts like my group is empty and I have to restart the phone. Chomp was sending double messages, are there any other programs or methods out there? The group has 58 members
Is there a limit to how large a thread with a contact or total SMS limit between all contacts? I currently have almost 4,000 messages in 1 thread and they're all backed up, but I want to make sure I won't randomly start to not receive messages or have SMS force closing on me. Would anyone happen to know?
Don't quote me, but I believe about 4,999 messages (sent or received), as that is what I believe to be roughly the storage size in messaging. I'd double check through menu>settings>applications>manage applications and then check inside the messaging app. I believe the max size is 4,999kb which translates to 4,999 sms if each sms (not mms) is all 120 or 160 characters alloted. Not 100% sure, but I read something along that line.

That many messages is going to slow down your phone like nothing else. You wouldn't believe how much faster your phone will run if you just delete those texts.
You guys were definitely right. My phone was really starting to slow down when there were 3500+~ messages in that contact's thread. On top of the other 750~ or so messages my phone had, it was becoming really slow opening the messenger, receiving, and sending messages. I even had a few FC's. I went ahead and set a 3,000 limit for now and it's back to "normal" operation as far as I'm concerned, but I see what you were talking about with having more than 4,000 or so total messages causing a problem.
