Hi, ummm. There seems to be a limit of 25 text messages. At least on Manila. Is there anyway to remove this limit? I would like to keep all my SMS (on my last phone I normally had over over 2000 sms but had to erase some periodically due to memory limitations, though not OS limitations).
Also (I don't know if this is in any way related), but I always have an empty message at the beginning of the Manila sms interface (doesn't show up in the "all messages" area). Anybody know how to get rid of it?
The limit of 25 messages is only present in the Manila interface. All your messages are actually still there. You can see them all if you go into the default WinMo Messaging app.
Regarding the empty message you see, have you tried to delete it from Manila? (right soft key and then delete)
That was the first thing I tried.
Strange thing, erased an sms from my carrier and it disappeared. But then it reappeared later. Wonder if it-s some weird thing to do with my carrier. One slight advantage is that it provides some privacy protection against slight snoopers.

I have tried the Palm ripped threader for wm6 which I love because of its integration in and just appealing user interface but it seems to have some severe problems. Sometimes after closing the program after sending a message the CommManager or other programs will also pop up behind the palm app and I will have to close them too. The worst part though is that it almost always sends duplicate previous messages. Currently I am using PocketCM for my contacts and sms messaging but it has drawbacks like trying to send a message to someone that isnt a contact.
So yeah, I would really like to find a text message threading app like the palm one but that doesnt send duplicate messages over and over again, any suggestions or am I SOL?
My vote - stick with Palm Messaging
I've been using the WM6 "Palm" messaging since I first converted to WM6 (and the previous version on WM5 too) and it's always worked flawlessly.
The duplicate messages problem is a known one with ANY of the text messaging systems on the phone. It occurs when the application is closed shortly after a message is sent, the phone thinks it didn't go so sends it again. To fix it, either add the palm messaging as an exception to your X-button task manager, or (as I do) simply press the OK button on the phone to minimise it rather than close it. That should also avoid your CommManager popping up too.
Never used PocketCM, so don't know if/how that might be interfering with it though.
Good luck.
Extreme Text
This is not a Freeware, but it works very well, and uses the Messaging Inbox. There is an update due out in about to weeks where he is planning to implement a lot of the request made in the forum. Below is the link to the authors website.

I found what you were talking about, it is the same application but a different [newer?] version. I have been using it about half the day so far and no reports yet of duplicate messages. I think you answered my question!!!
I have the read others thread about the touchflo counter being off but my problem a a bit different. Along with that issue the touchflo counter, the counter within the text app itself is not resetting. In the past with my wing if I replied to someone the new text notifcation goes away but not with my tmobile tp2. Instead it registers their messages & my replies as unread. If I exit out of the app & go back to our "conversation" it doesnt take to the newest one from me/them but to the older part of the convo.
Edit: Only work possible work around seems to be going unthreaded or a text app such as etreme text. I havent found any real aternative text app. Ive tried different version of the arcsoft txt cabs but same results which leads to to believe its a winmo issue.
go to the conversation that shows unread messages & then scroll through all the texts with the arrows on the keyboard. look for the bolded messages, they are the unread ones. once you select them with the arrow keys they'll register as read.
i hate this issue too. if you have the damn threaded message open & are replying the the messages, it should just mark them as read.
god I hate this so much!!! I keep all my texts... often they contain information I need. But like this its pretty inconvenient. There's got to be some kind of reg mod to fix this thing...
I recently used Jeyo Mobile Companion to move all my text messages (sent and received) older than a certain date to a seperate folder. Now, at random, when I send a text message, that entire thread of messages will delete from my phone. All my other messages from other contacts are not affected, only the thread of text with the contact I texted.
Of course I did all of this before I took a vacation, and am not currently able to undo the move of messages.
I checked the archive folder to see if maybe my missing threads had been moved to there, but they have not, they are just gone. This only occurs when I send a message, it has not happened otherwise. And it is at random, not every thread deletes. Let me know if you need more details. Oh, stock AT&T ROM, WM 6.5. Thanks.
Nobody else has experinced this? I'd appreciate any suggestions for restoring the lost texts (if possible) and for preventing it from happening again.
Just an idea. Not sure since I don't use the particular software you mentioned to auto delete messages.
The reason for your problem may stem from having threaded messaging enabled. If you have it enabled, this means that in the default WinMo messaging app, you can't delete particular messages. You have to delete the whole thread. It's all or nothing. (Note, it's possible to delete individual messages via Manila)
Disable threaded messaging with Advanced Config tool and see if your problem disappears.
I moved the messages back to the correct folders (sent and inbox) and everything seems to have corrected itself.
Hi,
I'm looking for a rom which is stable and works seemlessly and quickly with the following features
Ability to make and receive phone calls using both the touch screen and the hard keys
Ability to use internet without connection keep on dropping.
Ability to have lock with a pin
Weather
Ability to send MMS and SMS with threaded messages showing - with a high message limit before slowing down e.g. 5k messages
Ability to have multiple email accounts each with 30 day history whereby email checking doesn't take over a minute when there are no new messages.
Ability to have led indicator only showing for text messages and voicemails and missed calls but not to show when a new email arrives
Ability to have multiple applications open at once
Weather and mylocation which works and doesn't mess up your calendar times
Can someone recommend a rom that can do the above without issues?
Thanks a lot,
Chris
Ummm........ Iphone
At least you aren't demanding.
Check through the ROMs for yourself...both here and HTCPedia.

Presumably you think AthineOS does all this. I'll give it a search.
Is there a limit to how large a thread with a contact or total SMS limit between all contacts? I currently have almost 4,000 messages in 1 thread and they're all backed up, but I want to make sure I won't randomly start to not receive messages or have SMS force closing on me. Would anyone happen to know?
Don't quote me, but I believe about 4,999 messages (sent or received), as that is what I believe to be roughly the storage size in messaging. I'd double check through menu>settings>applications>manage applications and then check inside the messaging app. I believe the max size is 4,999kb which translates to 4,999 sms if each sms (not mms) is all 120 or 160 characters alloted. Not 100% sure, but I read something along that line.

That many messages is going to slow down your phone like nothing else. You wouldn't believe how much faster your phone will run if you just delete those texts.
You guys were definitely right. My phone was really starting to slow down when there were 3500+~ messages in that contact's thread. On top of the other 750~ or so messages my phone had, it was becoming really slow opening the messenger, receiving, and sending messages. I even had a few FC's. I went ahead and set a 3,000 limit for now and it's back to "normal" operation as far as I'm concerned, but I see what you were talking about with having more than 4,000 or so total messages causing a problem.
