Hi everyone,
My Fold 3 started showing wierd sympotoms after Abdroid 12 update however I thought they might get fixed with the next upgrade. Last night I received Android 13 upgrade but to my surprise the issues with my phone stayed same.
My phone is official, no rooting or bootloader unlocking. Knox tripping is 0x0. The same result is shown by the Diagonostics in Members app.
My employer needs me to install work profile that this phone is not allowing and throwing an error saying I have a custom OS. I cannot boot into the bootloader from the recovery menu and getting a smart select error. Moreover I cannot login to Samsung Pay (stuck at fingerprint authrized) and Samsung Pass (Currently not available error: 162)
I have added all the possible screen shots for ready reference.
Can you please advise as what can I do to fix this annoyance! Many thanks in advance

It isn't Maas360 that you are trying to install by chance?

I am not aware of Maas360!
Can anyone with knowledge help as I need to setup my office profile urgently. My second phone is acting up...
If your phone is not modified in any way, then I would go straight to Samsung. Someone here might be able to help, but in cases like this, Sammy might be your best bet.
Its not modified however Samsung wants to change the mother board and charge big as its out if warranty.
Thats the reason I turned to the community as I have got many issues fixed from the wonderful people that Sammy wanted to charge otherwise.
Update your Google services. Says July, last is October!

It says it will wipe everything. So a complete backup is needed.
I am still quite new to this. Forgive me, but what is the BEST way to back up EVERYTHING -- including apps and contacts and SMS etc.
I have Titanium Back up Pro (and im rooted) though I haven't really used it yet -- is this the best ?
Is there any good apps out there ? Any good programs I should know ?
I just saw this too. Unfortunately, I've upgraded to JH2. The facebook post says you need JG9.
We can use this post for our flash guide using Kies:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=766589
Now... how can we locate a JG9 firmware image? I cannot find it on samfirmware. I guess we'll need to flash back to get this update.
I'll update my post when I find information, but feel free to post how we can get back to the JG9 firmware if I'm off base.
- Titanium backup is good to backup apps and data.
- I've used SMS Backup and Restore to backup SMS.
- Contacts are backed up by Google itself as is the calendar.
- APN data might have to be re-entered manually. There is an APN backup and restore as well.
- I'm not sure if call log data can be backed up and restored.
Too late for my phone
but great news
I find titanium hard to use, undestand and unreliable. Mybackup pro is waaaay better.
Is it just me or didnt my phone update to that firmware weeks ago when I got the thing... Some fix Samsung, thanks alot for wasting the last 2 weeks of my life waiting on you to come up with a resolution.
Please someone tell me im wrong... lol
If you have attempted to resolve the three-button recovery issue by upgrading the device to JH2 using a version of Kies earlier than 1.5.110074_45 and the recovery procedure is not working, please visit a Bell authorized dealer to have the device returned to a Samsung authorized service centreto have the issue resolved.
WHAT ?????
I installed JH2 via Kies something like 2 weeks ago. 3 button recovery/download is still not working. The Facebook page helpfully recommends taking it back and getting it serviced, but I think I'll wait until it's bricked.
I guess our only hope is for someone to tell us how to safely downgrade..

Just downgrade to JG9 then do the update.. its a different version of JH2 that is up for download via KIES it updates the SPL. were the old one didn't
Im hoping someone can get KIES to downgrade to JM9, so that we can update to JH2 using the supposed new version of KIES. Dont really see how this will make any difference, but heres to wishful thinking.
Any idea how I can go about getting the JG9 firmware?
Does anyone have a download link for JG9? Pretty sure you can get kies to flash any rom you want by fiddling with the registry.
this is awesome news. im still on the stock firmware. ive been scared to update to ANYTHING due to this problem. i havent even rooted the thing.
im gonna wait and see what the results are for other people before i do this too. maybe im paranoid but it doesnt hurt to be patient i guess.

Sorry was trying to quote you.. Anyway Id love to get back to the previous firmware, Any idea how to go about that? Ive seen people redirect KIES to other Firmwares, ie the new Froyo build, but havent seen anything to go back.
Hmm...
This "new" JH2 which should fix the "3-button combos" is a low package.
Maybe Kies (Odin SS_DL) is able to update the bootloader, because Odin does not seem to be able to do it.
If someone wants to try it with Odin, I can upload the file.

Hey man I am with you I think. I haven't done NO upgrades or firmware updates. Why? b/c I can't get Keis to work
So I'm still on stock.
My phone says this:
Original Production Software:
PDA: I9000UGJG9
PHONE: I9000UGJG9
CSC: I9000BMCJG9
I've only rooted my phone and used the 1-click-lag-fix
So questions -- once I upgrade my phone via Keis do I have to re-apply 1-click-lag-fix ?
do I have to un-root my phone before I upgrade via Keis ?
Thanks guys
@richthofen
Does this mean it is definitifly a software issue or could it still be an hardware issue since the older stock firmware can be updated and the newer roms can not..

Its software and it has been all along.. its the SPL Boot-loader... all they have done is get KIES to flash the boot loader this time.. in the past when you changed roms the bootloader was not changed.. now this flash with update the boot-loader with the fix..
Hmm, I updated a few weeks back to JH2. Its been running fine, but having that 3 button ability would give me more peace of mind. They suggest bringing it to a dealer for warranty replacement/repair if we've already upgraded - seems a bit excessive. I'm wondering if this "bootloader" alteration will be included in future firmware updates perhaps? Like froyo (hopefully in a few weeks)? If that's the case, I'll just wait for that instead of trying to flash back to JG9, then back forward to the "new" JH2.
Any word/thoughts on if this bootloader thing is a one-time deal from JG9 to new JH2 only?
- Goatblaster
I would assume that most people that want the 3-button fix are the kind of people that upgraded to JH2 as soon as it was available and thus with a version of kies "prior to 1.5.110074_45". Therefore most people will fall into the category where they must return the phone for service as explained in samsung FB note.
This is bizarre... even if the new firmware is the same as JH2 except for the low level stuff, they could have given it a new name just to allow kies to upgrade it. Instead they are explicitly telling us to send the phone back! It really looks like they are shooting themselves in the foot. Why not tell us to wait one week for Froyo and get the new boot loader + froyo at the same time. Returning it to Samsung will take much longer.
Also, there are a lot of users who did upgrade to JH2 using the latest Kies, and not one of them has emerged saying it fixed the 3-button issue.
Either Samsung has failed big time on this, or the statements on FB are not legit.
Hey everyone.
I'm running on completely Stock 5.1.1 OK1 on my Note 4 and just recieved the official MM OTA update last night. Due to my phone having a lot of junk and being laggy I decided to flash the official firmware from any external method to have a clean install of the os. I heard about Samsung Kies which makes a back up of your phone and installs the latest os, I installed and backed up my phone last night but it didn't seem to give me an update on the os, it said "This is the latest version" (5.1.1 COK1).
My main concern about this is. I've bought this phone from Pakistan (used phone but in brand new condition) and I'm currently living in Malaysia and I have no idea who was the previous owner of this phone. In Kies it shows the phone number different than what I have (maybe its the Sprint phone number?).
What if my carrier is locked by having a clean install? Or any sort of other related issue occurs.
Please take some time to enlighten the facts from your knowledge, will highly appreciate it.
Regards.
waiting for official release bro. If rom is released on sammobile, see the icon kies highlighted on the right.

Yeah but you totally missed my question here.
Its not that I don't want to do some research myself, I'm a student and I'm busy most of the time. So if anyone can take out their precious time to answer my question I'd really appreciate the help.
If you're concerned about your phone or sim getting lock..you can just use galaxy tools apk v3.1.5 & then upgrade the apk to v3.1.8 & it will unlocked it for you... but i doubt it will lock you down... maybe you can just try to back your rom completely & restore if any issues encounter
it's dependent on the way that they unlocked the phone, someone in vietnam has been locked after updated the phone, but my phone was not.

And I have no idea how my phone was unlocked, I just bought it like this. I can see the Sprint phone number on Samsung Kies maybe I should write an email to Sprint asking them to unlock it using that Sprint phone number?

Shadow I agree with you, his response was a bit out of line. Maybe...include what Rom you are on, as some customs do have OTA updates...but I don't believe you need to go into detail about not updating.
Also, I don't believe "just update" is a valid answer. Not everyone wants or needs to update to the latest. Sometimes updates break things that are more important to a specific user than the things that it fixes.
An average user should know that it is ALWAYS recommended to update to the latest official firmware do to fixes and most important SECURITY UPDATES

While it may be recommended for most users and for "security updates". It is not viable for others. Such as 3.2.4 all but killed cell reception for some users, the single most root purpose of the cell phone was no longer useable. Even worse let's say those users rely heavily on their cell for business purposes.
Now would you tell this user to stay on the latest official because if not you will not have the latest "security updates".
Either way this thread is going off topic...good talking with you.
Strictly speaking, the answer to "how to get rid of..." is definitely "update"
The answer to "how do I get rid of... I'm rooted, I want to keep... It is working fine... I used to use the latest but I've had issues and so on..." în short, "more details about issue", would have been different
Anyway, this xda it's a place full of off topic so, we're good
I'll get back in a few with an answer

Hey everyone,
So the moment had finally come when I read the article that said the Nougat update was finally rolling out. I checked and of course it said that my software was up to date. I brushed it off thinking that it just hadn't "hit our area yet", when my boyfriend said his is currently updating. We have the exact same phones, and neither of us have tried to root it because AFAIK it's a depressing and fruitless endeavor. So I waited the 24 hours and tried again, and nothing. After waiting another 24 hours and getting the same response, I decided to look into it. I checked on AT&T's website and it says "Previous version(s) required: N920AUCS4CQA1 or N920AUCS4CQB2" which is fairly upsetting considering my current baseband is N920AUCS2BPG1 (on 6.0.1).
I'm not new to rooting and flashing, but I'm concerned with the whole KNOX lockdown issue, and I'm not sure how to go about getting my bootloader up to par for the N update without bricking it. Now my killer issue is that my charge port is also broken (I have to use wireless charging) so I'm not sure how I'd do any adb via usb either :/ So my question is how do I change my baseband without a computer and without root? I realize it may be a lost cause but any info would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You got 2 options
1. Call AT&T and tell them about your problem. They maybe able to push updates.
2. Odin to C2 firmware.
Clicking from Edge of Galaxy
Please,Don't upgrade you device firmware
Similar problem arose like before with initial global releases of Samsung ..
After suspending the update roll out but still some devices are receiving the update with a small code error and unable to communicate properly with PCB results in
Bootloop unable to fix this issue
Though this issue is resulting to a small niche of users
Developer recommend those few users can wait till some official notification is released
Or Users can try manually downgrading SYSTEM
(Keep nand backup since HOME CSC won't work due to encryption except you can restore data later after device is successfully reset)

Im saying, the issue with pcb is fixed. Try downloading the update now and flash. Fyi, you cant downgrade from 10 to 9 once you have updated to 10. Samsungs efuse will be triggered. It's been said that a device affected with the PCB bug is hardbricked, however, that is not entirely true.

Since due to lookdown a lot of us can't visit customer support for same.
FYI officially you can downgrade without breaking efuse

Efuse is popped during an update not a downgrade. Idk if ota pops it but i know updating with odin sure does and no, once the efuse is provisioned, there is no going back. If you or anyone else has found a way besides opening the device and making jumpers, please explain or provide links.
Device never went to 10 since the update with 10 has this error to ppl can still switch back to 9 hassle-free.
Thx for heads up!
Overall, Android 10 upgrade was a big disappointment for me, and pushed towards rooting it first, and then to installing LineageOS 17.1.
So, after rooting I disabled auto updates as I knew things can go bad.
But now I'm lucky LOS user!
I flashed my A705MN using Odin to get around the bootloop and it worked but now my wifi and bluetooth doesn't turn on. -_- I'm kinda new at this flashing business. How can I activate them both again?
