I always keep my phones in my pocket, and they ALWAYS get lint jammed into the USB port, to the point where it will only intermittently charge until I clean it out. Therefore, I always get a case with port covers to prevent this. I haven't been able to find one for the Z Fold 4, but they don't always advertise those. Before I decide to ditch my Note 20 Ultra for this, does anyone know of a good case with port covers? I don't mind, and even slightly prefer, bulky cases.
Also, does anyone know if the ZF4 has Private DNS? Been using it for adblocking on my N2U and it works great! I don't even really miss root! (I'm assuming that I wouldn't be able to get the global edition from Samsung to get their black Friday discount?)
For global ad blocking I use this setting.
Blocks blacklisted sites too.

Fantastic, that's the one I'm using now, thanks! Now, of I can find a case with port covers, I'll probably make the jump - unless I decide for an S22 Ultra instead. So conflicted!

You're welcome.
I wear bdu pants all the time. I use to keep my Buds+ in the cotton lined front pocket. Same issue that you're are having. Quit annoying.
However the cargo pockets are a 40/60 cotton polyester blend, they don't shed any lint at all.
Avoid using 100% cotton pockets as they are lint factories. Been carry my cased Note 10+'s like this for years; easy to access and pretty much out of harm's way. In 3 years I have cleaned the C port once or twice, it's partially recessed into the case which helps keep it clean. Of bigger concern are the mic* and speaker ports which also can suck up lint over time.
Drop protection is far more important than port covers which usually end up breaking. The C port is relatively easy to clean. A soft bristle toothbrush does the trick and a blower bulb is helpful too. Try to use dry cleaning whenever possible.
*For small mic ports on water proof phones one member here uses 3% hydrogen peroxide to clean out deep seated dirt. The O2 bubbling dislodges the dust as it decomposes the hydrogen peroxide on contact. A rather clever idea if you get in a jam.
Maybe try use this?

I use this solution from Note 9 to today with different devices and covers.

So I'm thinking about doing a mod to the moto folio case and make the front cover detachable and reatachable. The material doesn't feel like it will unravel do I believe if I use a razor blade to cut it off and figure out a way to attach the other side of the lid. Hoping maybe this will make it a little better for the dock however I will probably lose the stand capability. Anyways I got the case for 20 and could probably get it again for that price. Any opinions? Has anyone tried this? Please let me know your thoughts.

Why bother? Fold it underneath when on your lap and u dont notice it. The only time mine annoys me is when i have to charge it
I don't know if it can unravel when cut, but that was a concern of mine as well. I added a 3/8-inch diameter hole over the charging port so that I can charge it with the cover closed. It works great. To prevent unraveling or fraying, I melted the hole (using an old nut driver heated over the stove).
I don't understand the desire to cut the flap off, but I won't question your goal. If you do cut it, you can heat seal the edge with a flame or hot blade.
I just feel like the flap gets in the way but now that I think about it I will probably need the stand capability for school. I may just cut the hole like you said.

So I did it. I really got tired of holding the case open. Now it fits in the dock better as well.

Just charging, that's all you can do really other than plug in some speakers. Kind of bugs me it doesn't have a USB out of the dock. Oh well I only paid $25 for it.
Just put a USB (Motorola Camera Cable) inside my dock tonight. SWEET!
Took some doing, and had top pitch the top weight inside, but it looks pretty clean.
Just got it and installed it. Usual brodit quality. Tight fit, no chance to use it with any case. I'll probably try to modify it at some point to be able to use it with skinomi carbon fiber but I'm waiting for the delivery and I'm not sure yet whether it'll be good enough to keep it.
If anybody has any questions regarding this holder I'm happy to help.

Note is the only camera I have so to see the phone in the holder try this link. That's where I bought it from.
http://www.holdersandmounts.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-note-brodit-in-car-holder-brodit-cradle-mount-511303.html
That thing hanging on the side is my trusty Jawbone on the hook
You can also see that I've put additional spacers between the car vent mount and the holder itself. I like to be able to press the touchscreen without taking my hand off the wheel. It doesn't mean that I play with my phone while driving...
Not much else to say. Brodit is good - very simple but it's the only holder that I ever had that doesn't squeak, rattle, shake, fall apart, and I don't ever have to fish for the phone under the passenger seat after some emergency situation on the road etc.

A picture can speak a 1000 words
Yes, pictures please
Thank you for that tidbit.
I have been a long time, happy customer, of proclipusa.com and have emailed them to find out when we might be able to get the brodit GNote holder here on this side of the pond.
This is the one I use for my note:
http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpath=383&pageid=15349&processor=content&pcategoryid=13759&categoryid=18231&lightwindow=true&usermode=_dualselect&v_pcat=&v_cat=&year=&d_pcat=13759&d_cat=18231&have_holder=false&have_mount=true&p_pageid=1&dtype=
It's adjustable so you can use it with or without a case, or most cases. I used it for my iPhone and GSII. My Note fits very well with the Original Flipcase.
pics please,enjoy pics
can the Proclipusa #875214 Adjustable holder hold just the note with no case or gel?
I see that Proclipusa.com JUST listed holders for the Note today.
My question is how well does the adjustable one that can hold the note with a gel or case. item#875214 hold the Note without any case or flip case?
I ask as I may or may not get the flip case down the road IF this one holds the naked Note well,
Otherwise I will get item# 511303
here: http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-de...ote/holder-with-tilt-swivel-511303-18842.aspx
i have purchased multiple times from them and am extremely happy with the quality, etc.
REVIEW IS HERE
I've found this on ebay.
It's pretty and cheap and i'm probably going to buy it (and if, i'll post here a depth review), but
QUESTION:
Can the magnetic closure ruin the phone? i mean by interferences or so
Thanks.

Thanks! I've also found some thread related to other phones and the conclusion is the same.
I'll let you know.
I was wondering the exact same thing just the other day. The blackberry pouches have a magnet to cater to its auto shut off feature. But seeing that the G-nex does not have this feature, would the magnet cause any internal damage?

I just received the item and the magnets seems to be strong enough to keep the cover closed but not to interfere with the phone. Plus the screen doesn't seems to be attracted by the magnets.
I'll post a review this evening.
It would.be.cool.if we could make this like the iPad and power on when opened.
Looking forward to your review.
i like the concept of these, but, not sure if i would like having to open something every time i would need to use my phone. not to mention i don't think i would like trying to talk on it and the flap covering half my face or credit cards falling out. and then i would have to pop it out every time i get in the car to put it in my dock.
cool idea though. i would consider it if it just had a cash-stash and cc slots on the back side without the flap
CASE REVIEW (a sort of)
PROs
- The phone fits perfectly in the case.
- The magnets don't seem to interfere with anything.
- The front cover bends without any problem and doesn't slap my face while calling.
- The screen is very well protected
CONs
- The plastic inner case doesn't have proper top and bottom sides leaving the phone quite unprotected there as you can see from the photos.
- The credit card pocket sewing can mark the screen, but it's nothing permanet.
Let me know if you have more questions.

A solution is to use the proximity sensor but I think that if it was feasible then someone would have already done it.
Hello. I have put together a simple way of making a car dock that is both magnetic and wireless charging. I made these docks using parts from Amazon, and the design is strong enough to hold and charge my phone through a pretty thick case. I'm posting this thread to show off what I have made, and to gauge people's interest in these car docks.
Since these don't seem to really exist on the market yet, I'm also considering refining the design and possibly collaborating with someone to mass produce and sell these docks. I refined the design so they are simple as possible to make, and can post a tutorial if people are interested.
Here are the products I used. Total cost under $50:
DigiYes® USB POWERQI Qi Wireless Charger
10 Neodymium Magnets 1/2 x 1/8 inch Disc N48
Aduro U-GRIP PLUS Universal Car Mount
So far I have made three mounts while experimenting with the fabrication process. The first one actually used a peanut butter jar lid and 10 magnets to hold my phone without any support (no pictures of this one). It was functional, but ugly as sin. Subsequent mounts I used the original casing from the charging coil, and simplified the process and cost/strength of magnets by adding a base support. Here are the results:

Not bad for a little bit of drilling and super glue (which I always make a mess of). Because of the way I came across parts, I only used a single "grip" as the base for resting the phone, however using both grips for a wider base might feel better when docking the phone. It's also possible to use even stronger N52 magnets and skip the base altogether, to give your phone the effect of "floating" on the dock.
The drilled holes are 1/2" and have to be close together as possible (without overlapping) in order to fit 4 magnets between the interior screws that hold the charging coil in place (inside the case, not visible). I used a rusty spade bit which was terrible and had a bad habit of tearing off more than it should. To make the mount look as clean as possible, I'd recommend using a more clean cutting bit, maybe something like this which will grind through the plastic without catching or tearing.
Well anyway I hope you guys like it and show some interest. If you have any further questions, please let me know. Thank you for reading!
I made something like this and it worked well. I should however be getting this in next week http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-air-dock
I'm excited for it. It's magnetic and also membrane grip and looks pretty nice.

The charger is rated for 1A wireless charging, and that seems to be accurate. Is there a more accurate measurement I can pull from the phone? The case is Caseology Premium Shock Absorbent TPU Bumper Case and it's pretty thick in the back. It picks up the wireless coil okay, but I would need stronger N52 magnets to hold it up without a base (which I thought I ordered, but accidentally got n48 instead).
I didn't want to spend big money on a wireless charging car mount, so I got creative. The project takes very little time and involves the following items:
-Wireless Charger: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IQTGY2A/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1
-Microsuction Tape: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ITX9OU2/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (EDIT: Suggest using different micro-suction tape. This product doesn't work for extended use)
-Docking system: http://smile.amazon.com/Camera-Suction-Tripod-Holder-Screen/dp/B007E4PUT6/ref=pd_bxgy_p_img_y
-And any sort of epoxy, super-glue, anything that forms a strong bond.
Remove the screw from the camera mount and glue it to the underside of the puck-charger, put micro-suction tape on the top side that faces the phone, wait for the stuff to dry, and you're done.

Finished Product
Close up of the micro-suction used to hold the phone
Piece that holds it to mount. Used epoxy to keep it in place
Another view of the back
Note: This material only sticks to glossy surfaces. I was disappointed when it didn't stick to my Distronics case for my S4A, but all I did to remedy this was throw a piece of tape on the back of my phone, and voila! It sticks perfectly.
I plan on putting some clear tape on the back to pretty it up a bit, but for now it just doesn't bother me enough. So far I've only got to use it a few times, but it works amazing. It works best if it's directly on the back cover of your phone, for those of you that don't use cases. One downside to the micro-suction also is it does become dirty, and doesn't work as good. It is really easy to clean though, just take a piece of tape, stick it to it, and peel it off. Good as new, and it's supposed to never lose it's micro-suction ability. Hope it works good for you!
I actually used these two docking systems and put them together:
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00585CLVS/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D7KGLF8/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Since I had them laying around anyway, but there are much cheaper ways to make this possible. Good luck!

I probably spent about $50 total, but I already had most of the pieces lying around anyway. There may be some cheaper micro-suction tape around online somewhere, but I went with the stuff on Amazon, cause I'm an Amazon junkie.. haha. I tried it on a new case:
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GZSPQF0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and holy crap it sticks good!
Looks great, wish I had the patience to make something like this lol!
Very simple solution, looks nice! Post a picture of your phone with the clear tape please.
Does the battery level still goes up while using navigation?
I'm afraid you've put a little bit of distance between the two coils with that case.
Update
So, after using this for a few weeks the micro-suction is failing. I would suggest shopping around for a better one. Even after using tape to refresh it, it just won't hold my S4 Active anymore. I am currently back at the drawing board to find an alternative, and will update when I find something good.
I am too lazy to post a picture of my case with clear tape on it. I actually had some awesome ESD tape on it for a couple weeks, up til today.
And yes, this did continue to charge my phone even with the GPS and music streaming through Bluetooth in my vehicle. This particular charging pad is actually advertised to work good while plugged into a computer USB as well. Works great.
