what is the best rom for HTC Desire 816 DS (a5dug) - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, first of all thank you for all these works on HTC Desire 816.
I wonder what is the best and most stable rom that I can get for this phone.
Currently I have a edited version of original rom (android 6), it mostly work ok but there is some problems like in phone call the upper speaker wont work and I have to turn on speaker in order to hear call, and sometimes its so slow...
There is also some problem with the Recovery that I installed so long ago, like when I turn of the device and then plug the charger the phone keep switching between the twrp menu and charging menu... its so strange, I dont know why this happen...
so I also prefer a full replacement of the recovery with a better version too...

Headphone Jack and camera not working

Hi, yesterday my desire just randomly powered off by itself after I flashed defrost 4.2. The phone became extremely slow (took 5 min to get into recovery and 10 min to get into system loading screen, and the animation appeared To be extremely choppy) . I was able to get into the system but it was basically in an unusable state and the system process keeps fc.
In recovery, the trackball responded to my clicking but scrolloling did not work. After messing around in the recovery console,I was finally able to fix the issue by wipes, reflashing my radio and rom. The trackball is fully functional again. I tried open desire and pinky desire, headphone jack doesn't work. When I plug in my headphone, the sound just plays out from the speaker. The camera apps give me black screens with the 4 corners of the screen appearing yellow. Is my phone broken? If anyone else had the same experience please share :'( Thank you.
I got my desire from Telus. I have HBoot 0.83 and my baseband version is 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.

Please help...
The charging indicator light is not working either, although the device charges.
Is it bricked?
It doesnt seem like hardware problem... the LED flash is not working, and I need to use speaker for phone calls now would unrooting fix my problem?

This sounds like an issue with the radio not flashed correctly or the incorrect radio version for the rom.
Can you pelase confirm which radio version your using?
Thanks
Yep, at 99% you have a bad flashed radio ROM or an incompatible one. Try downloading and flashing the last one:
http://android.adamg.co.uk/bravo/radio/32.47.00.32U_5.10.05.23.zip
Please pay attention on how a radio ROM have to be flashed starting at point 7): it's the only action that's able to really brick your device if not properly performed.
Cheers.
Thanks for your replies! Now I feel really reassured as I was going to try to exchange for a new phone Unfortunately I did everything right and it is still not working. I noticed that sometimes I go into recovery and the LED flash for 1 second for some reason. And also after I flash the radio, there is a process bar but it always stay at 0% before the system restarts.
RUUed, still not working. Although I exchanged a new one from Telus

Desire HD auto turn on speaker?

Hi, my Desire HD just automaticly turn on speaker everytime i call someone or recieved a all.
I did some searching and people say turn it off may help. I tried to turn it off (no fast boot) remove the battery, and it still turn on auto speaker
I also realized that sometimes when i turn it on, carpanel automaticly launch. So this might be some problem with carpanel. I turned off the auto option in "dock" section of the setting. Still doesnt change anything
I think the proximity sensor have problems. So i tried some test with it. It's still fine
Can someone help me with this? i even tried hard reseting my phone, it doesnt help
What rom are you using? I had the same problem once, reflashing fixed it.

I'm using stock ROM , when turn on it says the branding is SFR something. I havent rooted my phone or install any other ROM ever
Well then you could try recalibrating the g-sensor from settings -> display.

You may have flip for speaker switched on. Go to Settings>Sound and then under Incoming Calls uncheck the option for Flip for Speaker.

That was what I was aiming for. The g-sensor thinks the phone is upside down when in fact it isn't, recalibrating should fix this.

Hi all. thanks you so much for the support.
I've tried all the above, like turn off carmode, turn off flip for speaker...etc. take out the battery, sim card, sd card. It's still the same. After some digging, i found a topic about this on the DHD forum. They said it was an USB problem. i tried to plug it in to the USB and wiggle it a little bit and carmode/speaker auto turn on and off time to time. I was about to give up and when i'm on my way to return it. It suddenly come back to normal, no problem, tested with the USB cord. This is so weird !!!!! but i'm glad that it's gone away

My other half had exactly the same thing on her Desire, turns out it was dirt/ fluff in the USB socket!
I have the same problem with my DHD, since I don't have the warranty for my set, is there a way around it. Like some sort of app which turns the speakers off when u make or recieve the call. That can make my life easier.
This problem started with my phone too..I tried all above such as changing rom,usb trick, sim+battery+sd remove, calibrating g-sensor ...Only thing i did not try is changing radio..If it wouldnt help me ,i dont know what to do since i dont have a warranty too..Its really annoying..
DHD speaker selfactivating
Those problems /carmode and speaker selfactivating/ started shortly after OTA 2.3 update.I honestly don't remember how I've managed the carmode issue, but initially I was able to solve the speaker selfactivating by pulling out the headphones' plug during a phone call. That did it for a once or twice,as the result lasted for a day or two. After reading the tricks suggested above I tried them with no success until pulling out the phone end of the usb during a phone call while connected to the pc in debug mode.So far I've made a few calls and it looks OK.
I don't want to scary you, but when I had the same problem I found only one solution which works- restore to factory settings... Its a pity...
Hi ,
I have the same problem on my Desire Z. I have had the phone for more then 6 months.
I was running stock: - no problem !
I was running Virtuous Sense 1.0.1 for about 3 months: - no problem !
Yesterday I got this: it auto turns on the loud speaker when I answer or dial.
Flip for speaker is turned off, G-Sensor is calibrated !
I have updated to Virtuous Sense 1.0.2 : same problem !
I have wiped off everything and flashed Virtuous Unity 1.24.0 : TWICE !
Same problem
Sorry for posting under DHD, I did not want to open a new topic on DZ forum , but I will if I must, this is driving me crazy !
I have solved this after wiping all data and flashing the rom again (3rd try !
I told it, there is only one solution- restoring factory settings...
same problem without OTA
Got the same problem since 2 weeks without having done any changes at all to my DHD (still on 1.72.405.3)
+ Car panel starts randomly when connected to USB for charging
+ Phone speaker always on regardless what I tried before
So, I really do not think this is a rom related issue but more a "aging" problem like the GPS connectivity.
Anybody any idea, why the USB plug should be respobsible for this strange behaviour?
I'm not sure this is a USB related issue. It may be the audio jack. My problems started after unplugging the headphones while listening music, to answer the phone.
same problem here ...
My phone also started having the same problem since today morning!
EDIT: So I tried to remove battery, then cleaned the micro-usb port and the headphone port and the issue seems to have disappeared atleast for now. Don't want to do a factory reset as have too much data and apps on phone.
EDIT 2: So as it turns out it was Go SMS Pro problem that was causing the issue since its update 2 days back. The developer has released a new version in Market now claiming to solve the issue.
Anyways whatever issue it is hope it does not return.

Desire wont turn on..... HELP!!!!

I know most of the Desire users on here have upgraded but i am on a 24 month contact and require some help!!
My phone since new has been excellent apart from the boot loop problem which HTC fixed with a new motherboard, however today it's all gone to ****. Went to use it and switched on 3G while waiting for it i just put it down for a few seconds, went back to it and it had froze buttons didn't work, screen wouldn't move even long back press didn't kill it.
So (this is were i think i might have broke something) i pulled the battery out, popped it back thinking it just need to restart and it wouldn't turn on!!! thinking that the battery might be flat (it was low at the time) i plugged the charger in but it would do anything (No orange light) and quick google and i find a way to get it charging (Without the battery in, plug the charger in which makes the green and orange led flash then insert the battery) this made the orange led stay on and after a few hours the green led came and i thought OK it should work now.... but it doesn't :-(
Anyone got any ideas?
The phone is rooted/s-off and running Oxygen 2.3.1 so without some life in it to put a RUU on i don't really want to send it to HTC.
Thanks for any help you lot can provide.
James
Hi!
Got the same problem....my Desire won't turn on...
Were you able to fix yours?
I'm on S-Off, too...
THX
Are you able to boot into fastboot / hboot?
I don't know if it is the same problem but the HTC Desire I got can not be turned on for longer than a few seconds after booting into Android (GingerVillain 3.3) (With AC, on battery, USB.. doesn't matter).
The battery indicator is sometimes jumping from 100 to 0 percent and from 0 to 100 percent. Before this the phone had problems with incoming calls not showing up and the other side getting an "calling partner not available".
Aswell the OC/UV Beater daemon was constantly crashing.
Since the phone's recovery menu is still working fine, I tried a full wipe, formating everything, reinstalling the ROM but it didn't help to solve the problem, it just fixed the crashing OC/UV Beater daemon occurring before.
I am rather clueless what to do now. The phone worked fine for many many months with that problem suddenly appearing. It is the phone of my girlfriend, so I cannot tell you exactly what changed in that time. She is claiming that she did not alter anything and with the phone not working after a full wipe, it may be the truth
May the hardware be damaged in some kind? What would be possible steps I could try out next before defining it as scrap metal?
Flash 2.3.3 RUU and if problem persits, call HTC.
Do a full wipe and don't install the rom just leave as is...
I had the same problem... so I tried that and it worked so now I'm using cm7 nightly build #258 for the past 5 months or so and no problems since...

It's usually very difficult to brick a phone. If you can get into your custom recovery then it still works. If not, then get into your hboot and install a custom recovery (if rooted) or RUU rom (if rooted will make it unrooted).
If your phone doesn't turn on, check wires, battery, plug, connector links between battery and phone (clean them). Hopefully you haven't had a sudden power surge which has blown up a component on your desire.

Power drainage

Hi guys, I have a htc desire running on runnymede Aio v6.0.4.3se
And I am experiencing major power drainage when I am trying to record video footage.
I have tried two full batteries and had them plugged into 12v 2.1a charges and yet phone drains the power so quick that charger can not keep up
Any ideas how this issue can be fixed? Is it the Rom or phone that is screwed
Paul
If it was me i'd flash a different rom then u will find out if its rom related or not. Just backup any important files, apps etc etc first.
Sent from my HTC Desire
yea i am thinkin about that.
The HTC desire i have is a spare phone and what i am going to use it for is for work.
i want to put it in my truck so it acts like a black box and records everywhere i go. I wont be using the phone for anything else except for that
i need a very basic no frills rom that is minimal. Any ideas which ROM is best

Problem With touchscreen?

My GF have a G2, is about 1 year old, from some time (about a month) the touchscreen wont work, first I think it was because the rom(it was using sense revolution R7), Yesterday I flashed Sensei rom, but, the problem is still there, for me, is strange, because when the touchscreen dont work, I just turn off and turn on the display and works again (sometimes two times) But, after a few moments the problem came back, so the touchscreen works when he wants and the temporal solution is to t urn off and turn on the screen. And the phone is not freeze because i can move with the trackpad and everything seems smooth, i make a call to the phone and the screen show the call, but the touchscreen isnt working so i cant answer.
So, no idea because the problem remain after change a rom. Any suggestion? Or someone know a solution? Usually I flash and try more but because my GF works, she need the phone and I can try a lot of thing so I want a suggestion to have an idea of what can I do.
Thanks for your time
